Veryl Burton
Funeral services for Gillette resident Veryl Mae (Smith) Burton will be at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, October 18, 2005 at Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Gillette in Gillette, with Pastor Iaasac Smith officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Mount Pisgah cemetery in Gillette, Wyoming.
Mrs. Burton passed away at her home on Saturday, October 15, 2005 of heart complications.
Veryl Mae Smith was born on March 14, 1932 in Stanton, Nebraska the daughter of Viola and Harrison Smith. On October 21, 1950 she married
Bob Bittner in Winner, South Dakota. They had three daughters; Cheri, Debra and Vicki. She and Bob later divorced. Then on April 30, 1961 Veryl married
Diffee Burton, who had one son, Baxter. For many years the couple owned and operated several motels, restaurants and other various businesses. Veryl was a devoted grandmother and great grandmother. She loved to gamble in Deadwood, South Dakota and enjoyed relaxing at home.
Mrs. Burton is survived by three daughters; Cheri Charles of Rapid City, South Dakota; Debra Almen of Gillette, Wyoming and Vicki Christensen of Norfolk, Nebraska; step son, Baxter Burton of Sturgis, South Dakota; twelve grandchildren and twenty five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, her parents, two brothers, one sister and two great granddaughters.

Jerry Lee Ball
Jerry Lee Ball was born on May 24, 1938, the son of L.V. Ball and Ruth May(Allen) in Shelby, Montana. Jerry was raised and educated in Shelby, Montana. He attended Northern Montana College graduating with an associate degree in drafting in 1964. He married
Shirley Steinbrenner in 1960 in Bozeman, Montana; they had three children and later divorced. Jerry went to work for Montana Power Company in Cut Bank and Billings, Montana as a draftsman for awhile. He worked most of his life as a driller for oil companies in Montana and Wyoming. Jerry loved music and loved to sing and be with friends.
Jerry is survived by his two daughters, Brenda (James) Tillman of Townsend, Montana; Katheryn Ball of Billings, Montana; and one son, Allen Ball of Billings, Montana; one brother, Jack (Delores) Ball of Havre, Montana; and two sisters, Janice (Milt) Garrett of Hudson, Florida; and, Lynda Johnson of Helena, Montana; and four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, L.V. Ball; his mother, Ruth May (Allen) Lux; and one sister, Laureen Lux.
Per Jerry’s family no services are planned.

Lewella Laur
Funeral services for Lewella Laur of Buffalo, Wyoming will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 17, 2004 at the Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Gillette, Wyoming with Pastor Marty Crump of the Family Life Church officiating. Interment will follow at Gillette’s Mt. Pisgah cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, September 16, 2004 at Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home.
Lewella Laur, age 106, died on Saturday, September 11, 2004 at the Amy Holt Care Center in Buffalo, Wyoming of natural causes.
Lewella Laur was born on February 22, 1898 the daughter of Simon and Melissa (Booth) Roush in Edina, Missouri. She was raised and educated in Butler County Missouri. In 1917, she moved to Wyoming along with her parents, four brothers, one sister and her first husband, Loyd Fouts to homestead in the Pumpkin Buttes area. Loyd passed away in World War I, leaving Lewella to raise their only daughter Velma. Along with homesteading and helping raise several nieces and nephews, she ran the Cactus Post Office, which was the first in the Pumpkin Butte area. In 1935, she married
August “Gus” Laur in Campbell County. The couple ranched on the original Roush homestead until retiring to Buffalo in 1976. Gus passed away in 1998 and in 2000 Lewella entered the Amy Holt Care Center where she resided until the time of her death. In her younger years, she enjoyed being a leader in the community. Often, she was the one to instigated the “fun” that occurred. She loved people, especially children. Her ranch house was always full. One could often hear her say “come on in, there is always room for one more”. She liked animals and gardening. Music was her special passion including singing, dancing and playing the piano. She was an optimistic person; one of her well remembered quotes was “If life gives you lemons, make lemonade”.
Lewella is survived by her daughter, Velma Leta Atwood; three granddaughters: Myrna (Jerry) Christensen, Linda Decker all of Buffalo, Wyoming, and Donna (Mike) Smith of Grangeville, Idaho; nine great grandchildren, fourteen great-great grandchildren and four great-great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, and a son-in-law “Happy” Atwood, four brothers and one sister.
A memorial has been established in Lewella’s name to benefit the Buffalo Senior Center Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 941, Buffalo, Wyoming 82834.

Michael D. Presley
Graveside service for Michael Presley of Gillette, Wyoming will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at the Mt. Pisgah cemetery in Gillette with Pastor Ginny Bettendorf officiating.
Mr. Presley, age 49, died on Monday, April 18, 2005 at the Campbell County Memorial Hospital in Gillette, Wyoming due to an extended illness.
Michael D. Presley was born on September 15, 1955 the son of Gene and Ann (Vaughn)Presley in Hobbs, New Mexico. He was a Vietnam War Veteran. Michael enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his daughter, Nikki, camping, animals, cooking, listening to music and reading. He had a wicked sense of humor and an insatiable love for Three Musketeers Candy bars.
Michael is survived by his parents, Gene and Ann Presley of Gillette, Wyoming; his daughter, Nikki Presley and her mother Kim Aaberg of Buffalo, Wyoming; his son Cas Presley of Texas; Suzy Haskins and Kevin Haskins of Gillette, Wyoming; Kelli Presley of Gillette, Wyoming; and Mandy and Shawn Wormke of Frederick, Colorado; his grandmother, Gladys Childers of Hobbs, New Mexico; and four nephews and one niece.
A memorial has been established in Michael's name.

Earl Franzen
Funeral service for Earl Walter Franzen of Gillette, Wyoming will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2005 at First Assembly of God with Pastor Orvil Holden officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8, 2005 at Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home in Gillette, Wyoming.
Earl Walter Franzen, age 78, of Gillette, Wyoming passed away Monday, June 6, 2005 at the Campbell County Memorial Hospital of natural causes.
Earl Franzen was born to Henry Franzen and Nell (Wills) Franzen on November 22, 1926 in Sentinel Butte, North Dakota
Earl Served in the United States Army for four years. He received a World War II Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal
He married
Gloria Andreen on January 12, 1961 in Meeteetse, Wyoming. They moved to Gillette, Wyoming in 1962 where they had four children.
Earl worked for McCullough Gas for five years then he went to work for Ken & Rita Neal the owners of Gane Production from 1968-1988 and proceeded into the Oilfield Shop from 1988 to 1999 then retired in 1999. He enjoyed gardening, reading his bible, listening to the University of Wyoming's sporting events and watching his six grandchildren.
Earl is survived by his four children, Becky & (Rob) Hoover of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Wayne Franzen of Gillette, Wyoming; Barb (Larry) Brooks of Gillette, Wyoming; Donnie (Jeanie Rae) Franzen of Gillette, Wyoming. Six grandchildren Ryan, Brandon & Jaymen Brooks; Josh & Hayden Franzen, and Caitlyn Hoover. Three sisters Pearl Nelson of Minnesota; Irma Schaffer of Montana; Cheryl Befuf of Riverton, Wyoming and one brother Maurice Franzen of Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his three brothers Al Franzen, Clayton Franzen, Jack Franzen, and one sister Marie Sell.

Richard Riggle
Funeral service for Richard Walter Riggle of Gillette, Wyoming will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at the First Presbyterian Church in Gillette, Wyoming with Pastor Joel Wright and Pastor Marty Crump officiating. Visitation will be held from 3:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at the Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Gillette, Wyoming. Burial will follow the services at Mt. Pisgah cemetery in Gillette, Wyoming with full military honors provided by the American Legion Post #42 of Gillette, Wyoming.
Richard Riggle, age 69, of Gillette, Wyoming died Thursday, April 7, 2005, at his winter home in Texas, of a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Richard Walter Riggle was born on April 9, 1935, in Gillette, Wyoming the son of Walter and Rosalie (Barkley) Riggle. He graduated in 1953 from the Campbell County High School in Gillette, Wyoming. In 1953, he joined the United States military and served three years in the 101st Airborne division, as a paratrooper. He served our country from 1953-1956; making twenty-seven parachute jumps was honorably discharged. In 1957, Richard married
Mary Lucille Evans, and they made their home in Gillette, Wyoming. He began his career working at the Wyodak Coal Mine (Wyodak Resources). In 1958, a son Kenton was born, 1960, daughter Sharon was born and passed away quickly, in 1962, daughter Terry was born and then in 1964, their son David was born. In 1969, his wife Mary passed away. He married
Marlene Wellman on November 12, 1971 at the Bethlehem Church in Gillette, Wyoming; she had two daughters (Julene & Linda) that joined the family. The family lived at Wyodak until 1978, at which time they purchased a small acreage near Gillette, Wyoming. He enjoyed working at Wyodak Coal Mine and retired after 36 years of service. Richard followed in his father “Walt’s” footsteps, as he had previously spent 36 years with the Wyodak Coal Mine, as well. During this time Richard and Marlene also remolded and managed rental houses for over 30 years. He enjoyed many activities such as fishing, camping, golfing, gardening, woodworking, pulling slots, square dancing, hunting and raising various breeds of rabbits. Richard truly loved reading western novels and watching old western re-runs. He and Marlene enjoyed their retirement wintering in the warm southern Texas area, where Richard tended his tomato garden and grapefruit, orange and lemon trees. He was truly known for being a “Levi and Western Shirt” man and enjoyed eating out and visiting with friends.
Richard is survived by wife, Marlene Riggle of Gillette, Wyoming; sons, Kenton Riggle and David Riggle both of Gillette, Wyoming; daughters, Terry Chandler of Gillette, Wyoming; Julene Allen of Demotte, Indiana and Linda Friedland of Hickory, North Carolina; brother, George Riggle of Conoga Park, California; sister, Betty Sayles of Gillette, Wyoming and a legacy of 10 grandchildren ranging in age from 6 to 27.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife and infant daughter.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Richard’s name to benefit the American Cancer Society or Campbell County Higher Education College Scholarship.

Hazel Rudy
Memorial service for Hazel Rudy, age 67, of Casper, will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 29, 2005 at the Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Susan Honn officiating. Interment will be Monday October 31, 2005 at the Oregon Trail Veteran’s cemetery in Evansville, Wyoming. Bustard’s Funeral Home and Stevenson – Wilson Funeral Home of Gillette have been entrusted with the arrangements.
Ms. Rudy died, Wednesday, October 26, 2005 at Campbell County Memorial Hospital, in Gillette of cancer.
Hazel Ruth was born on May 16, 1938 in Casper, Wyoming the daughter of Ralph and Gladys (Evans) Moll. She graduated from Natrona County High School in 1956. Upon her graduation Hazel began a 31 year career at the Bureau of Reclamation in Casper. She was proud to have received the 1977 Civil Servant Award. In 1986 Hazel retired.
On March 19, 1982 Hazel married
Dean Rudy in Shelby, MT. The couple resided in Casper. In 1986 she began Rocky Mountain Pilot Car Service. She loved the opportunity to travel with the pilot jobs and it allowed her to spend more time with Dean. Hazel enjoyed and loved every moment of being a wife, mother, beloved grandmother and devoted friend. She was a member or Grace Lutheran Church, Casper, Al-anon (a support group for families of alcoholics) and National Secretaries.
Hazel is survived by her mother, one daughter Heather Renee Wood 3 grandchildren: Michelle, Amanda and Kylee Dean of Gillette; three brothers: Robert (Lois) Moll of Cheyenne, Richard Moll of Casper and William (Jodi) Moll of Dubois; and a sister Patricia (Bob) Stevenson of California. She is preceded in death by her husband, her father, and son-in-law David John Wood.

Tammy Shinkle
Funeral services for Tammy Shinkle, age 30, of Gillette will be held 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, November 16, 2005 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Gillette with Pastor Scott Firminhac officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Pisgah cemetery in Gillette. Visitation will be from 3-7 P.M., Tuesday, November 15, 2005 at the Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel.
Mrs. Shinkle died on Friday, November 11, 2005 at the Campbell County Memorial Hospital after a lengthy battle with melanoma cancer.
Tammy Lee was born January 18, 1975, in Laramie, Wyoming, the daughter of Lonnie and Wendy Briggs. She attended Elementary school in Elk Mountain, Wyoming and junior high and high school in Hanna, Wyoming. In high school Tammy participated in many activities, and was a stand out in basketball and volleyball. In 1993 Tammy graduated from Hanna High School and accepted a full basketball scholarship to Jamestown College in Jamestown, North Dakota. However the love for her future husband brought her to transfer to the University of Wyoming where she earned her bachelors degree in secondary English education and a minor in Spanish, she was a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society and was named to the Dean’s list and the President’s list. On August 6, 1994, Tammy married
Gordon Shinkle at the Zion Lutheran Church in Laramie, Wyoming. The couple started their family and made their home in Laramie. In July 1997 their daughter Marissa was born and in September 1999 their son Mitch was born. Tammy devoted her life to her family and it was reflected by her staying home and being a full time mom. In 1999 the family moved to Gillette. She was active in her children’s lives by volunteering at their school activities and helping out with their other activities and sports programs. Tammy was very involved in her church. She taught at the Trinity Lutheran Pre-School, vacation bible school and also the churches mid-week classes, which she did up until two weeks ago. When the kids were in school, Tammy would substitute in the Campbell County School District and tutor home bound students.
Tammy enjoyed spending time in the mountains hunting, fishing, and camping with her family. She loved to prepare for all the holidays, decorating the house and being festive. Tammy had a special closeness with her sisters that will be cherished and missed.
Mostly Tammy will be remembered by her caring spirit, she loved to give. Planting this seed into her children’s heart, she would take them at Christmas to pick needy children’s names off the tree to buy gifts for, in the fall it was always extra school supplies to donate and she also worried about the Veterans in Buffalo. She always had concern for everyone even while she had so much pain and struggle of her own.
Tammy will be greatly missed by her husband and his family; her children; her parents of Elk Mountain, Wyoming; 3 sisters: Kimberly Irene of Elk Mountain; Lori Parker and Jenelle Larson both of Rawlins, Wyoming; maternal grandmother, Gary Reiber of Elk Mountain as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her maternal grand father and paternal grandparents.
