Patrick Douglas Sullivan, of Sheridan passed away at his residence on Tuesday, November 14, 2000 at the age of 50. Pat was born to Beverly Ann Shane and James Emmett in Evanston, Illinois on November 14, 1950. Pat served in the U.S. Army from 1974 to 1977. Pat enjoyed music, reading, and spending time with his friends, especially down at Sutton's Tavern. Pat is survived by his mother, Beverly Sullivan of Gainesville, Florida; his two brothers, Daniel Sullivan of Scottsdale, Arizona and Timothy Sullivan of Laguna Hills, California; and other relatives and friends who will miss him. Cremation has taken place and memorial services with military honors will be held in Gainesville, Florida later this week. Pat's cremains will be placed next to his father. Memorials may be made to the Holy Name Thrift Shop in Pat's name in care of Delphine Toner at First Interstate Bank, P.O. Box 2007, Sheridan, WY 82801.

Loretta Sweetman Age 59 of Sheridan,WY
Died Monday, January 8, 2001, in Deaconess Medical Center, Billings, MT
Born September 27, 1941, in Niagra Falls, NY
Parents - Vincent and Loretta (Williams) Leone

She grew up and graduated high school in up state New York. Loretta graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Masters Degree in Social Work. She came to Sheridan in 1980 to work at the V.A. Medical Center as a Medical Social Worker. She also taught assertiveness training courses at Sheridan College. She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, Sheridan Business Women, People for Human Rights and served on the board of the Senior Center. Loretta helped in the early days of the organization of Hospice of the Big Horns. She was a liason between the V.A. Medical Center and the Sheridan Community. She enjoyed ceramics, reading and traveling.

Mary Pitet Tennell,57, of Sheridan, passed away at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County, on August 12, 2000, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Mary was born to Monica Margaret Noonan and Dr. Marcel Rene Pitet on October 1, 1942 in Sheridan, Wyoming. She attended Holy Name School, Little Flower School, Billings, and graduated from Billings Central Catholic High School in 1960. After High School, she received training in the Radiology Department at St. Vincent's Hospital in Billings, and became an X-Ray Technician. She worked as an X-Ray Technician in the Las Vegas, Nevada area for 36 years. on May 7, 1987, she married Wayne Tennell in Las Vegas. She enjoyed making ceramics, traveling, dancing and camping with Wayne and her family. Mary had a special fondness for animals and loved her horses and her dogs. She was the biggest fan of her daughter, Michelle, and attended stock dog trials with her throughout the Rockies. She also enjoyed the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Marie Kozak. She is survived be her husband Wayne and their children, Anna Pugleise and her husband Louis of Phoenix, AZ, Michelle Pollan Martinez of Kaycee, Wy, Lisa Martinez Sheely and her husband Corey, of Wooster, OH, Paul Martinez of Seattle, WA, Wayne Tennell Jr. and Jimmy Tennell, both of Las Vegas, Cheryl Peterson and her husband Pete, of Minot, ND, and Bobby a nd Tina Martinez, both of Las Vegas; her brothers, Mickey Pitet and Larry Pitet of Sheridan, Roger Pitet of Billings, her sister Michelle Rosenthal and her husband Frank of Sheridan, and Patrick Pitet and his wife Lynn, of Cody, WY; her grandchildren, Courtney and Lexie Sheely, Little Lou, Michael and Anthony Pugleise, Andy and Christie Peterson, Jared Tennell, and Brandon and Travis Tennell; her cousins, Richard L. and wife Jeri Hlousek, of Sheridan, Patricia Noonan, Tommy Noonan and wife Eileen, Ellen Gerdom and her husband Dewey of Casper, and Dennis Noonan and wife Betty of Ft. Collins, CO. Mary is also survived by her two best friends Andrea Long of Billings and Betty Thompson of Roseglen, Texas.

Memorials in Mary's memory may be made to the Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County Foundation, P.O. Box 391, Sheridan, WY 82801.

Dixie Christine Nicholas Torok, 40, of Sheridan passed away Tuesday, October 17, 2000 at St. Vincent Hospital in Billings after a courageous four year battle against cancer. She was born January 1, 1960 in Miller, South Dakota to Roger Paine and Earline Albright Nicholas.

On April 8, 1989 she married Les Torok in Tucson, Arizonia. Dixie resided most of her life in Sheridan. In her role as the Chairman of the Sheridan Breast and Cervical Cancer Coalition, she helped many local women through their own struggle with cancer. She loved books, theatre, traveling, and spending time with her family. She majored in English and Theater and received her teaching credentials at the University of Wyoming. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her husband, Leslie William Torok; two sons, Samuel Nicholas (10 years), and William Laszlo (5 years); daughter, Susannah (7 years), all of Sheridan; her parents, Roger and Linda Nicholas of Sheridan and Earline and Bill Garrett of Gillette; three brothers, Rocky Nicholas and wife, Skyle of Pierre, South Dakota, Don Nicholas of Florence, Colorado, and Ted Nicholas of Sheridan; three sisters, Cynthia Herigold and husband, Fred of Encinitas, California, Mary Jane Miller of Silver City, Nevada and Rose Reeves of Albequerque, New Mexico; her grandmother, Florence Nicholas of Miller, South Dakota; and nieces and nephews, Cody, Patrecia, jessica, Winter, Fred, Aimee, Laura, Jennifer, Erin, Timothy, and Molly. She was loved by and impacted the lives of many friends and family around the world.

Memorial Services will be 2pm, Saturday October 21, 2000 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Ron Nelson officiating. Interment will take place in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery followed by a reception at the Trinity Luthern Church Fellowship Hall. memorails may be made to Sheridan Breast and Cervical Cancer Colaition in care of Delphine Toner, First Interstate Bank, P.O. Marvin Turner, 76, of Sheridan passed away Thursday, November 9, 2000 at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan Co. He was born September 25, 1924 in Hardin, Montana to Marvin and Eldora Foster Turner.

He served his country in the United States Marine Corp. from 1942 to 1945 and was in combat in WWII from 1943 to 1945. On September 5, 1947 he was united in marriage to Charlotte Constance Stanton in Lodge Grass, Montana. He moved his family to Sheridan from Hardin, Montana in 1950. His wife Charlotte preceded him in death on July 5, 1993.

Marvin worked as a real estate developer and a mason. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing the stockmarket, and had a member of Holy Name Catholic Chirch and Bricklayers Union. On June 23, 1994 he married Virginia Jensen in Sheridan.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia; two daughters, Rhonda Burkhart and husband, Bruce of Sheridan, and Connie Bosley and husband, John of Sheridan; brother Raymond Turner of Hardin, Montana; sister, Maxine Warp of Big Timber, Montana; seven grandchildren, Michael and his wife, Denise, Nicole, Tia, and Sierra Bosley and Gregory and fiancee, Melissa Wardlaw, Daniel, and Jennifer Burkhart; and four stepchildren, Harold Jr., Shawn, and Michael Jensen, and Valene Goff. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Turner and sister, Emma Benson.

Vigil services will be 7pm Tuesday, November 14, 2000 at Kane Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be 10am Wedensday, November 15, 2000 at Holy Name Catholic Church with Father Ron Stolois officiating. Interment will follow in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery with military honors. Memorials may benefit Holy Name Pastrol Center or Council of Catholic Women in care of Delphine Toner, First Interstate Band, PO Box 2007, Sheridan, WY, 82801.

Marie Vedova -- Age 96 of Sheridan, WY , died Tuesday, February 6, 2001, in her daughters home in Sheridan. Vigil service will be 7:00pm on Thursday (Feb. 8th) from Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Funeral Liturgy will be 10:00am on Friday from Holy Name Catholic Church with Father Cliff Jacobson officiating. Interment in Little Big Horn Battlefield National Cemetery, Crow Agency, MT. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

Albert W. Vinke Age 78 of Sheridan, WY
Died Tuesday, April 18, 2000, in Westview Health Care Center, Sheridan
Born August 26, 1921, in Chicago, IL
Parents - Albert, Jr. & Gertrude (Scholl) Vinke
He grew up and graduated high school in Chicago. He worked at various jobs and in the shipyard for a time in Chicago before moving to Sheridan in 1947. Married Juanita Roush on April 28, 1948, in Sheridan. He worked as a carpenter and brick layer for many years and later was a bartender at the Elks Lodge and the Eagles Lodge. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, music and playing the accordion. Albert was an avid sports fan and loved the Chicago Bears. He was a life member of Elks Lodge #520 and a member of Big Horn Mtn. Eagles.

Preceded in death by his brother, parents and one grandson, Chris

Fay Vollbrecht Age 93 of Sheridan, WY
Died Saturday, April 8, 2000, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County
Born November 18, 1906, in Minneapolis, Minnesota
Parents - Mischa & Esther Brusin
She grew up and graduated high school in Duluth, MN. Fay attended Duluth State Teachers College and then attended the University of Minnesota for one year in special education. She moved to Sheridan in 1929 to work at the V.A. Medical Center. She married Richard Vollbrecht in 1939 in Miles City, MT. They lived in Sheridan and she continued working at the V.A. as a Manual Arts Therapist until she retired in 1967. Richard died in 1959. She taught special education for one year at Hill School after her retirement. She remained active doing crafts and was a member of the Threaders craft group.

Preceded in death by one brother Beryl and two sisters Rose and Miriam.

Alma Marie Wallace 1912 - 2000
Alma Marie Wallace, age 87 of Sheridan, WY, died Friday, May 26, 2000, in Sheridan Manor. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be at a later date. Arrangements are with Ferries Funeral Home.

Alma was born June 14, 1912, to Peter & Barbara (Billek) Kohlruss in Saskatchewan, Canada. She immigrated to the United States as a child with her family where they homesteaded near Gillette, WY. Later the family moved to Acme, WY, then into Sheridan. She graduated from Holy Name School, Sheridan High School and Heinmans College in Sheridan. Alma married Herschel Wallace in August, 1941, in Hardin, Montana. She worked at Hospital Pharmacy and the Mills Company. She and her husband purchased the Karmelkorn Shop. In 1948, they built and operated “Hersch’s” Drive In Restaurant until 1966. She returned to the Mills Company and worked until she retired in 1978. She had a great love for her family and grandchildren.

Mr. Wallace died in 1977. She was also preceded in death by her parents and brother Edward.

She is survived by her daughter Norma Aguilar and husband Max of Sheridan, sisters Bertha Buckley of Sheridan and Lenora Kohlruss of Lander, WY; grandchildren Wayne Walker, Marla Garriffa, Sue Bremkamp and husband Jim, David Walker, Ronald Walker and wife Chery, all of Sheridan; seven great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren and several nephews.
