He grew up on the family farm near Ray and atteneded country school. He graduated from Wheelock High School. john worked the family farm for several years then after working and leasing several ranches he bought his own near Ashland, Montana. He married Vera Foster on December 9, 1946. They ranched until 1969 when they sold the ranch, retired and moved into Sheridan. John was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, life member of Elks Lodge #520, and past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, gardening and playing cards.
Preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Kathryn Sethne Age 77 of Larslan, MT
Died Saturday, August 26, 2000, at her daughter’s home south of Sheridan, WY
Born September 18, 1922, in Richey, MT
Parents - Ladislav & Hazel (Kerns) Sedlacek
She grew up and attended school in Richey and then graduating high school in Fairview High School, Fairview, Montana. She worked at the Richland County Courthouse and as WWII began she and a friend went to work in Portland, OR, as welders in the shipyards. She returned to Montana and enrolled in the CAdet Nursing Program at Montana State University in Bozeman. She graduated a Registered Nurse in 1946 and worked at the Frances Mahon Deconess Hospital and also the Moscow, Idaho, hospital. While at the Glasgow hospital she met Harold Sethne and they were married on October 12, 1947, in Fairview, MT. They lived on the farm north of Glasgow, MT. They spent the last 28 winters in Mesa, Arizona, were she enjoyed golfing and volunteered at the Valley Lutheran Hospital and was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. In Larslan, MT, she golfed in the Opheim Women’s League and was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and Eastern Star. Her joys were her grandchildren and family as well as gardening and needlework.
Preceded in death by an infant brother and brother Dr. Glen Sedlacek.

Frederic Roy Shaver, 86, of Dayton, Wyoming, passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2000 at Westview Health Care Center in Sheridan, Wyoming.
Funeral Services will be held at 1pm on Monday August 28, 2000 at Champion Funeral Home with Reverend Doug Goodwin officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Big Horn, Wyoming. A reception will be held at 4pm Monday, August 28, 2000 in the Dayton Town Hall in Dayton, Wyoming.
Mr. Shaver was born on December 18, 1913 in Winsted, Connecticut the son of Roy David Shaver and Rachel Anna (Snook) Shaver. He was raised in Connecticut, graduated from high school and attended business college for two years in Hartford, Connecticut.
Mr. Shaver served in the Army Air Force from January 15, 1943 to February 9, 1946 as a airplane and engine mechanic, during World War II. During his service time he was stationed in Amarillo, Texas; Ypslanti, Michigan; Salina Kansas; as well as casper, Wyoming. Following his discharge and a brief period in Connecticut, he moved to Sheridan, Wyoming in 1948.
On October 26, 1944 he was united in marriage to Lelia Hopkins in Casper, Wyoming. The couple lived in Sheridan until 1954 then moved to Story, Wyoming until 1959, and then to Big Horn, Wyoming until 1969 when they purchased their home in Dayton, Wyoming. Lelia, his wife of over 48 years, preceded him in death on January 21, 1993. Mr. Shaver was also preceded in death by his two brothers, Donald Shaver and John Shaver both of Connecticut.
On January 8, 1994, he was united in marriage to Wanda Lee Bartlerr in Sheridan, Wyoming.
Mr. Shaver worked for Church Beverages in Sheridan for a member of years; the Veterans Affairs Medical Center; Green Construction; a few years for Big C. Service and Supply as a truck driver; and for 25 years fro Wyoming Sawmills, Inc. in many capacities and as night watchman during his final employment with them. He enjoyed fishing in the Big Horn Mountains, gardening, and to see things grow elated his heart. His greatest enjoyment in life was playing cards and spending time with his family. Mr. Shaver was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sheridan, Wyoming.
Mr. Shaver is survived by his wife Wanda of Dayton, Wyoming, two daughters, Leanna L. Wagner of Columbus, Ohio and Martha M. Prescott of Laytonville, California; his two sons, Pleaman F. Shaver of King George, Virginia and William F. Shaver of Ft. Collins, Colorado; his sister Ruth L. Carruthers of Stormville, new York; along with his 12 grandchildren: Timothy, Tyrie and Tiffany Wagner; Scott and Michael Morton; Jamie and Jessica Prescott; Misti Paul; Pleaman A. "Chip" Shaver; Curtis, joseph and Adam Shaver; and his 8 great grandchildren: Nikita and Isaiah Wagner; Emily and Carl Mathison; Ryan and Kimberly Morton; Victor and Veronica Paul. Also surviving are three step daughters: Pam Smith and Brenda Knudson both of Sheridan, WY and Vicki Bonsall of Louisiana.
Berdon William Smith Age 71 of Sheridan, WY
Died Tuesday, June 20, 2000, in the Wyo. Medical Center, Casper, WY
Born November 11, 1928, in Sheridan
Parents - Clarence & Helen (Post) Smith
He grew up and graduated high school in Sheridan. Graduated from Sheridan College where he was Student Body President. He graduated from the University of Wyoming with a degree in education. Berdon enlisted in the Army and served in the occupation of Japan after WWII. After the service, he returned to Sheridan where he married Vera King on March 20, 1951, in Sheridan. They moved to Lusk, WY, where he taught math. The next year they moved to Dayton, WY, where he taught math in the Tongue River Schools. Later they moved into Sheridan where he owned and operated Berdon’s TV & Hi-Fi for over twenty years. Vera died in 1992. In his early years, Berdon enjoyed motorcycles and the Sturgis Rally. He also enjoyed Polka music and photography.

Patricia “Pat” Ann Smith, (71), passed away Thursday December 14, 2000 at Sheridan County memorial Hospital.
Pat was born on August 5, 1929 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania the daughter of Delbert H. and Neila Nelson Pape. The family moved to Sheridan in 1938 wher she attended Linden Grade School and graduated from Sheridan High School. She then went on to Northwestern University and was a member of Alfa Xi Delta, social sorority. She was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.
For over twenty years, she was an active member of the Sheridan County Republican Central Committee as committeewomen, Secretary, Vice Chairman and Chairman. She was privileged to be the first women to hold the position of Chairman and also was an alternate to the National Convention in 1972. Pat also went through the chairs of the Wyoming Federation of Republican Women and became President of the organization in 1973. She was a delegate to their national conventions in 1972 and 1973. She was listed in “ Who’s Who in American Politics” and “Who’s Who of American Women”. In later years she became interested in family genealogy and wrote a book entitled “Our Part of the Hon Family”. She also helped with two other books on the family genealogy.
Preceding Pat in death include her son, Steven Nelson Smith, her sister Mary Jane Maury and her parents. Survivors include two sons, Thomas A. Smith of Sheridan, Wyoming and David M. Smith of Los Angeles, California.
Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday December 18, 2000 at Saint Peter Episcopal Church with Reverend Ray Clark and Reverend David Duprey officiating. Interment will follow in the Elk Cemetery of Sheridan, Wyoming. Kane Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Ada A. Snedden Age 86 of Sheridan, WY
Died Sunday, April 16, 2000, at the home of her son in Sheridan
Born August 14, 1913, in Johnstown, Colorado
Parents - Earl & Elizabeth (Wailes) Tromble
She grew up on a wheat farm near Johnstown and graduated from Johnstown High School in 1932. She worked at the telephone company and later the post office. She married Harold Snedden on June 18, 1942, in Johnstown. During Harold service in WWII she lived in Boise, ID and Lordsburg, NM. After the war, they lived in Illinois, Cheyenne, WY, Grand Junction, CO, and Massachusetts before coming to Sheridan in 1966. Ada was a devout Christian and worked hard in every church of which she was a member. She was a Scout leader, Rainbow Girl Advisor, a member of Grand Cross of Color, Order of Eastern Star, the Garden Club, PEO, Sheridan Women’s Club, and First Presbyterian Church. She volunteered many hours at the VA. Medical and Memorial Hospital. Ada loved life and the arts. She was an award winning photographer. She was a seamstress and did all kinds of craft work. She loved flowers, gardening and being a hostess.
Preceded in death by her parents, one sister and her husband of 55 years in 1997.

Cleo V. Stewart Age 78 of Moorcroft, WY, a former Sheridan, WY resident
Died Friday, December 22, 2000, near Sundance, WY at the home of her son.

Parents - James & Ida (Richey) Roberts
She grew up and attended schools in Hulett. Cleo married Ralph Stewart on October 7, 1939, in Sundance, WY. They lived in Chamberlain , S. Dakota, until they came to Sheridan in 1975. Ralph died in 1991. Cleo spent the last five years near family in Moorcroft. She enjoyed traveling, gardening and handwork. Cleo loved serving the Christians and being with her family especially the grandchildren. She was a member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by 5 brothers, 4 sisters and one son Roe M. Stewart.
