Edna Irene `Pinky' Brimmer
No services are scheduled for Edna Irene Pinky Brimmer, 86, of Sheridan. She died Wednesday, July 26, 2006, at Westview Health Care Center. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements are with Kane Funeral Home. Mrs. Brimmer was born April 19, 1920, in Sundance to William Henry and Ellen (Kelly) Thorn. She married
Wiley Brimmer on March 12, 1938, in Deadwood, S.D. She worked as a nursing instructor most of her life. She enjoyed horseback riding, fishing and most outdoor activities. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Tim; a brother, Theodore Thorn; and a sister, Helen Hulsinger. Survivors include a daughter, Judy Pehringer, and a son, David, both of Sheridan; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Kenneth Higgins
No services are scheduled for Kenneth Higgins, 82, of Sheridan at his request. Mr. Higgins died Sunday, July 23, 2006, at Westview Health Care Center. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements are with Kane Funeral Home. Mr. Higgins was born July 7, 1924, in Watertown, S.D., to Ben and Margaret (O'Brien) Higgins. He attended schools in Watertown and graduated from Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, S.D., with a degree in teaching. He taught English in Hot Springs, S.D., Huron, S.D., Rawlins and Rock Springs. He served in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War and was honorably discharged. He moved to Sheridan in 1990 and worked for the Salvation Army, Burger King and other businesses through senior employment. He was a volunteer at Sheridan VA Medical Center for many years. He enjoyed old movies, picnics, the mountains, bingo and spending time with family and friends. He was preceded in death by a sister, Maxine. Note: Mr. Higgins' obituary was published in Wednesday's Sheridan Press, but some information provided by the funeral home was incorrect.
Alicia Margaret Wiberg Russell
Sheridan native Alicia Margaret Wiberg Russell, 64, died Wednesday, July 26, 2006, in Sacramento, Calif. Cremation has taken place, and a vigil will be later, according to her family. She was born Dec. 22, 1941, in Sheridan to Clifford Wiberg and Catherine Cunningham. Survivors include 13 siblings, Arland Wiberg, Sylvia Sadler, Carol Depoorter, Cliff Wiberg Jr., Catherine Joan Anich, Regina Reese, Doretta Dunham, Monica Shockey, Bridget LaMotte, Christopher Wiberg, Nelia May, Richard Wiberg and Mary Geertz.

Mary E. Sweem
Funeral services for Mary E. Sweem, 69, of Sheridan will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronald Stolcis officiating. Burial will be in Sheridan Municipal cemetery with military honors by the Wyoming National Guard and American Legion Post 7. Mrs. Sweem died Thursday, July 20, 2006, at her residence. She was born Oct. 26, 1936, in Kleenburn to George and Lena (Legerski) Jensik Sr. She attended Monarch School and was a 1954 graduate of Sheridan High School. She enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in January 1955 and was honorably discharged in December 1956. She married
Bill Jennings Sweem on Nov. 12, 1959, in Sheridan. She was mainly a homemaker, but she worked at various times at Woolworth's, Boyd's Super Market and Kmart. She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church and the American Legion. She enjoyed reading, jigsaw puzzles, bingo, going to Deadwood, S.D., with friends, gardening and the company of her dachshunds. She was preceded in death by her husband and a sister. Survivors include a son, Bill M. of Sheridan; a brother, George Jensik Jr. of Sheridan; three sisters, Wilma Meryhew of Sheridan, Betty Bell of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, and Margaret Boaz of Portland, Ore.; and two grandchildren. Benjamin Fowler Anderson
Benjamin Fowler Anderson, 58, of Sheridan died Sunday, July 23, 2006, of cancer. In accordance with his wishes, no services are planned. He requested that anyone who wishes to remember him do so "in whatever manner you feel best, " according to Champion Ferries Funeral Home, which is handling arrangements. Mr. Anderson was born July 19, 1948, in Sheridan to John G. and Tooney Anderson. He lived in the Sheridan area all his life. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Bohlin; his parents; and a brother, Henry. Survivors include a sister, Richmond, and four brothers, Lawrence, John, Martin and Lincoln.
Robert Raymond Holt
BUFFALO - Robert Raymond "Bob" Holt, 88, of Buffalo died Monday, July 24, 2006, in Johnson County Health Care Center. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday in Adams Funeral Home Chapel. Mina Lea Svoboda
Mina Lea Svoboda, 90, of Hulett died Saturday, July 22, 2006, at her residence. She was mother of Roger D. Svoboda of Banner. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Hulett cemetery with the Rev. Tim Berkshire officiating. Arrangements are with Kline Funeral Chapel in Belle Fourche, S.D. Mrs. Svoboda was born Nov. 10, 1915, on her grandfather's homestead on Beaver Creek north of Alva to Vane and Lizzie Cooke. She married
Dean L. Svoboda on Nov. 19, 1938. They lived in Crook County except for one year in Oregon. Mrs. Svoboda taught in country schools around the Crook County area, and she and her husband owned and operated the Motel Pioneer and Bear Lodge Building and Supply in Hulett. Mr. Svoboda died May 7, 1989. Mrs. Svoboda was also preceded in death by a daughter, Alice, and a sister, Iva Mae Trigg. Survivors include another son, Larry of Webster, Texas; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Hulett Volunteer Fire Department.
Wanda Irene Nolan
BUFFALO - Wanda Irene Nolan, 76, of Buffalo died Sunday, July 23, 2006, following complications of surgery at Johnson County Health Care Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Buffalo with the Rev. Hugo Blotsky as celebrant. A Prayer Vigil will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Eric E. Troutt
Memorial services for Eric E. Troutt, 41, of Sheridan are pending with Kane Funeral Home. Mr. Troutt died Thursday, July 20, 2006, in Westview Health Care Center. Cremation has taken place. He was born June 26, 1965, in Sheridan to Kenneth and Iona (Anderson) Troutt. He graduated from Sheridan High School and worked in a variety of vocations from managing a gold-mining plant to automobile bodywork. He enjoyed rebuilding older 4-by-4 pickup trucks. He was preceded in death by his mother and an infant brother, Kelly. Survivors include his father of Sheridan and two brothers, Kim and Kirby.
Charlotte Sylvia Wiederien
Funeral services for Charlotte Sylvia Wiederien, 83, of Sheridan will be 10 a.m. Monday in Adams Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo with the Rev. Bob McHenry officiating. Visitation will be 1-9 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Willow Grove cemetery in Buffalo. Mrs. Wiederien died Wednesday, July 19, 2006, in Sheridan Manor. She was born Nov. 4, 1922, in Buffalo to Charles and Agnes Washbaugh. She grew up and attended schools in Buffalo. She was a 1941 graduate of Johnson County High School. She attended Heimans Business College in Sheridan for a year, then worked in the field superintendent's office for Amoco in Midwest for 16 years, beginning in 1942. She married
Albert "Jack" Wiederien on Aug. 9, 1943, in Billings. They made their home in Midwest until 1979, when Mr. Wiederien retired, and they moved to Buffalo. They moved to Sheridan Manor in 1999. Mr. Wiederien died in January 2000. Mrs. Wiederien was a member of the Midwest Royal Neighbors of America, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and Rebekah Lodge. She enjoyed music, hunting and fishing trips with her husband, and growing flowers. She was an avid reader and did needlework and crocheting. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son and six sisters. Survivors include a daughter, Cindy Phillips of Story; and a grandson.
Leonard Franklin Kimmel
A celebration of life for Sheridan native Leonard Franklin Kimmel, 54, of Spearfish, S.D., will be 11 a.m. Friday at Bethesda Worship Center with the Rev. Scott Lee officiating. Mr. Kimmel died Friday, July 7, 2006, in Spearfish. Cremation has taken place. A private scattering of Mr. Kimmel's ashes will be later. He was born March 23, 1952, in Sheridan to Jean and Margaret Kimmel. He attended Sheridan schools. He married
Pat Crouch in 1994. They moved to Spearfish in 1997. They were separated in 2000. Mr. Kimmel worked at his family's Laundromat, operated a carpet-cleaning business, worked as a laborer and mechanic in Alaska, and was a truck driver. He enjoyed being with family and friends, hunting, fishing and camping in the mountains, and was an avid pool player. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include four stepchildren, Jennifer Donohoo and Jeremy, Josh and Jordan Crouch; a sister, Alice Harnish of Sheridan; two brothers, Billy of Sheridan and Jean of Talkeetna, Alaska; and five grandchildren. Barbara R. Willms
Memorial services for Barbara R. Willms, 83, of Sheridan will be 10 a.m. Friday at Kane Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Goodwin officiating. Mrs. Willms died Friday, July 14, 2006, in Westview Health Care Center. Cremation has taken place. She was born Aug. 23, 1922, in Springfield, Mass., to Raymond and Emma (Johnson) Wade. She married
Alfred Green. He died in 1974. She later married
Emil Willms. He also preceded her in death. Mrs. Willms worked as a secretary at Sheridan VA Medical Center for many years. She enjoyed quilting, photography and camping and belonged to the Bots Sots Recreational Vehicle Club. She was the longtime companion of Chuck Mitchell. Survivors include two daughters, Marcia Suranyi and Janice Green, both of Sheridan; a son, J. Robert Green of Loyalton, Calif.; a sister, Marion Stockwell of Natick, Mass.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Catherine Hurst

Leonard Hurst on May 19, 1952, in Sinclair. She enjoyed crocheting, painting and ceramics and was an avid reader. She was a member of Presbyterian Women, the Red Hat Society and Jeans and Queens Square Dancing Club. She cooked for the Lunch Together program, was a Habitat for Humanity volunteer, and was a founder of Sheridan's first day care center, now known as the Child Care Center. She was a bookkeeper for Best Western Sheridan Center for more than 20 years. Survivors include her husband of Sheridan; a daughter, Dannon Bury of Abington, Md.; three sons, John of Austin, Texas, Timothy of Craig, Colo., and David of Cheyenne; her mother; two brothers, James Williams of Dayton, Ohio, and Jack Williams of Rawlins; two sisters, Frances Campbell of Buffalo and Susan Pixley of Rawlins; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Edward K. Ratcliff
Former Sheridan resident Edward K. Ratcliff, 71, of Lakewood, Colo., died Friday, June 16, 2006, in Denver after a brief battle with cancer. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Sheridan Elks Lodge 520 in Sheridan, with officers of the Lodge officiating. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mr. Ratcliff was born July 2, 1934, in Dayton to P.W. and Opal Ratcliff. He was employed by the U.S. Forest Service for 35 years, until he retired in Colorado. He was a former officer and a life member of Sheridan Elks Lodge 520. He was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers. Survivors include his wife, Winona; a son, Charles of Briggs, Okla.; two sisters, Betty Reichert of Dayton and Lucy Dudley of South Dakota; and a brother, Sam of Arizona. Frances Donnafield

Mrs. Donnafield died Saturday, July 15, 2006, in Sheridan Memorial Hospital. She was born Nov. 28, 1928, in Fromberg, Mont., to John and Lena (Haman) Schleining. She married
Urban Donnafield on Dec. 13, 1947, in Hardin, Mont. She received her nursing degree from Deaconess School of Nursing at Montana State University, and she worked as a registered nurse at the VA Hospital for 20 years. She enjoyed gardening, fishing and wildlife. She was preceded in death by a brother, John. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Louise Ann Bard of Sheridan and Kathleen Lee Donnafield of Denver; a son, Urban Roy of Sheridan; a sister, Betsy Schleining; and a brother, James; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Viva Nelson

Mrs. Nelson died May 30, 2006, at Sheridan Manor. Notice of her death was published in the May 31 Sheridan Press. Mrs. Nelson was born in Sheridan to Fred and Mary Welter. BUFFALO - Frances Marie Rothe, 91, of Buffalo died Friday, July 14, 2006, in Amie Holt Care Center in Buffalo.
