Gerald D. Jennings Age 62 of Sheridan, WY
Died Wednesday, September 27, 2000, on a ranch near Arvada where he was helping a friend
Born December 26, 1937, in Palmdale, CA
Parents - Fred & Laura Jennings

He grew up and graduated from high school in Palmdale. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. After the service, he returned to Palmdale where he worked farming, construction and as a mechanic. He married Elizabeth Evenson in October, 17 1969, in Las Vegas, NV. He lived for a time in Oregon where he became a chef and then later moved to Arizona working as a chef. He also lived in Idaho and Colorado before coming to Sheridan in 1990. He was a member of Eagles Lodge #186 and the Moose Lodge. He loved playing Santa Claus for many years at the schools and for many organizations. He enjoyed fishing, boating and helping his family and friends with projects or when they needed a helping hand.

THE FAMILY WILL GREET FRIENDS FOR VIEWING AND VISITATION FROM 10:00AM UNTIL 12:00NOON ON SATURDAY (SEPT. 30TH) FROM FERRIES FUNERAL HOME. CREMATION WILL FOLLOW THE VIEWING.
ARRANGEMENTS ARE WITH FERRIES FUNERAL HOME.

Helen B. Johnson died September 28th of natural causes at Westview Nursing Home. She was 82. Funeral services will be held at 10am, Thursday, October 5,2000 at Champion Funeral Home. She was born in Big Horn County, Montana on April 7, 1918 to Thomas D. and Lulu M. (Cotton) Stroup. She was raised in and around the Sheridan area, graduating from Sheridan High School in 1937. She married Glen R. Arnold in 1937. They divorced after 17 years. She married Eugene G. Johnson in 1959. She worked at Memorial Hospital for several years. She was a member of several lodges in Sheridan: The Patriarchs Militant to Canton; Encampment and Diamond Revekah #8, where she served as Noble Grand and Treasurer for several years. She attended lodge meetings when she could, up until 2 months preceding her death. Her biggest achievement was receiving the decoration of Chivalry and serving as President of the Association of L.A.P.M. She did volunteer work at the VA as well as in other community activities. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, 5 brothers, 1 sister and 2 grandsons. Survivors include her two daughters: Betty Oxley of Casper; Joanne Arnold of Sheridan; one brother, Donald Bert Stroup of Sheridan and her sisters, Rose Stone of Sheridan and Mary C. Johnson of Colorado, 16 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may benefit the Heart or Diabetes Fund in care of Delphine Toner, First Interstate Bank of Sheridan, WY 82801. Service will be held at 10am, Thursday, October 5, 2000 at Champion Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Odd Fellows Section of the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.

John E. Kawamoto Age 78 of Sheridan, WY
Died Monday, February 5, 2001, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County
Born October 5, 1922, in Dietz, WY
Parents - Timothy & Anna (Blanski) Kawamoto, Sr.

He grew up and graduated high school in Sheridan. He worked for Burlington Northern Railroad until enlisting in the Air Force during WWII. After the service, he returned to Sheridan and to Burlington Northern. John married Marjorie Ann Smith in 1954 in Sheridan. They were later divorced. In 1957, he went to work for the U.S. Postal Service and worked until he retired in 1987. He was a member of the VFW. John enjoyed fishing, hunting, baseball, Bronco football and always went to the Tongue River football games.

Margaret L. Kelley Age 91 of Sheridan, WY
Died Tuesday, December 12, 2000, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County
Born August 16, 1909, in Denver, CO
Parents - Charles & Minnie (Carey) Lang

She grew up and graduated from high school in Denver. She graduated from the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, CO. On December 30, 1933, she married George Kelley in Ohio. They lived in Denver until 1994 when they moved to Sheridan to be near their daughter. Mr. Kelley died in 1995. She enjoyed reading & being with her granddaughters. She was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.

Preceded in death by two sisters Roxie Barkhurst & Virginia Thomson.

Bernice V. Ketcham, of Sheridan passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2000 at Westview Health Care center at the age of 89.

Bernice was born to Marie Coast and Joseph H. Giroux in Carneyville, Wyoming on March 15, 1911. She grew up in Monarch, WY and attended school in Ranchester, WY. On January 4, 1927, Bernice married Homer C. Ketcham in Sheridan. While a young mother in Monarch she, was active in the Bridge and Homemakers Club, as well as being a den mother for Cub Scouts. The couple lived in Monarch until 1953 when they moved into Sheridan. She worked in the kitchen of Woolworth's for a short time, quitting to work with Homer as caretakers at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds until their retirement in 1969. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Eagles Auxiliary #186, Pythian Sisters and AARP.

Bernice was known for being the pillar of the family, her sense of humor, outgoing personality and her fun loving spirit. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, reading, listening to music and especially spending time with her family.

Bernice was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Homer; two sons, Darrell R. and Homer F. Ketcham; daughter-in-law, Barbara Ann Ketcham; grandson, Robert C. Warne; great grandson, Aaron Carter; and her sister Pearl B. Master.

Survivors include Bernice's daughter, Gayle Warne of Buffalo; son, Dwayne Ketcham and wife Doris of Sheridan, Gary Ketcham of Sheridan, and Ronald Ketcham and wife Bessie of Billings; daughters-in-law, Margaret and Kathleen Ketcham of Sheridan and Meeteetsee and her sister, Faye Edelen of Sheridan. She is also survived by twenty grandchildren, numerous great and great great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 19th from 6-8pm at Kane Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Wednesday at 2pm at Kane Funeral Home, with long time friend of the family, Pastor Bob Logan officiating. Interment will be in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Senior Center, Meals-on-Wheels Program, in care of Delphine Toner at First Interstate Bank, Sheridan, WY, 82801

Lt. Col. James “Jim” A. King , U. S. Army retired, age 74
Died June 14, 2000, at his home in Sheridan, WY.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no services.
Arrangements are with Ferries Funeral Home.

Norine (Mom) Kinnard Age 83 of Ranchester, WY
Died Monday, March 20, 2000, at her Ranchester home
Born May 29, 1916, in Anoka, Minnesota
Parents - George & Effie (Trinsdale) Lewis
She grew up and graduated high school in Anoka. She graduated from Central Bible School in Minneapolis. Norine married Wesley Kinnard on April 15, 1941, in Anoka. They lived on a farm near Elk River, MN until they moved to Wyoming in 1969. They operated Camp Bethel in the Big Horn Mtns. until they retired in 1986 and moved to Ranchester, living on the banks of the Tongue River. She taught bible study and sang at the Dayton Community Church where she was a member. Norine enjoyed doing crafts and word games.

Preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
