Claude Eugene Young
July 15, 1960 - May 6, 2010
Claude Eugene Young, 49, of Newcastle, Wyoming passed away May 6, 2010 at Rapid City Regional Hospital surrounded by family and friends. He was born July 15, 1960, in Sheridan, Wyoming, to Alice Morrison and David W. Young. He was raised in a family of nine siblings. Claude attended and graduated from Anaconda Culinary School of Arts in Montana. He had a passion for making people happy with his fun and creative recipes. He loved to be outside doing anything and everything. Claude leaves behind five brothers; Russell Young of Colorado, Dennis Young of Texas, David Young of Arizona, Frank Young of Wyoming, and Phillip Young of South Dakota. His sisters are Sharon Maxwell of Montana, and Cecila Sanford of Wyoming. He is also survived by his daughters, Tabitha Young of Wyoming, and Natashia Sharp (and husband), of Sheridan, Wyoming, and a son Jeremiah Young of Florida, as well as eight grandchildren. Claude was preceded in death by his step father, Lee Morrison, a grandfather, Gene Hobblit, and a grandmother, Charlotte Young also a brother Victor and sister Victoria Young. Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, May 10, 2010 at Kane Funeral Home in Sheridan, Wyoming with Pastor Doug Goodwin officiating. Inurnment will take place at 10:00am on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at Mount Hope cemetery in Big Horn, Wyoming. Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Edward F. (Bill) Heide
February 20, 1930 – May 4, 2010
Edward F (Bill) Heide passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2010. He was born on February 20, 1930 to Alex and Cathrine Heide in Torrington, Wyoming. At the age of 12 his first job was trailing horses from Big Horn, WY. to a ranch on the Powder River by himself. Then later he worked for area ranches in Sheridan County. Bill met his wife Juanita (Pierce) while she was working for Eaton’s Ranch. They married
on September 15, 1948 in Sheridan, WY. Bill then enlisted in the United States Army in September, 1948 and served with the Army 101 Anti-Aircraft Division, known as the “Big Red One.” He then was released from the service and later called back to serve in the Korean War. Bill was ranked as a Sergeant upon his honorable discharge in 1951. Bill went to work for Salt Creek Freight Ways, in Sheridan, WY., working the day delivering freight to local business’s and also driving Semi’s between Sheridan and Billings Montana from 1951 until 1983. He served as The Union Steward for Teamsters during the 32 years he was employed with Salt Creek and also received numerous safe driving awards. He worked for The Sheridan Flour Mill, working the evening shift from 1951 until 1963. He worked 16 hours a day, 6 days a week for the 12 years that he was employed with both companies. Bill and Juanita purchased Heide’s Mobile Home Court in 1975. They owned and operated the court until they retired and sold in 2000. They enjoyed their winter home in Mesa, Arizona from 1994 until 2005. He loved spending time with his family, especially at the family cabin in the Big Horn Mountains. One of his favorite pastimes was reading western novels. He was a lifetime member of The Sheridan Elks Lodge #520. Bill was proceeded in death by his son, Kent, his parents, brothers; Raymond, Alex, Dave and Joe; sisters; Joyce and Delores. He is survived by his wife Juanita, sister MaryAnn McFarlane, son Keith (Debbie) Heide, Grandchildren, Renea (Matt) Parker, Justin (Stacy) Heide, Candace Barbero, and Jessica Heide. Great-Grandchildren, Treylee and McKailyn (Parker), Trent Heide, Laine and Gracie Barbero, Jesse Heide, Krisianna and Briston Heide. Several nieces and nephews. Bill was a dedicated and compassionate loving man, who will be greatly missed as a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather. A private family memorial service is planned. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
Martha Kay Lindsley
September 8, 1950 - April 26, 2010
Martha Kay Lindsley, age 59, of Sheridan, Wyoming, passed away at Billings Clinic, on Monday, April 26, 2010. Martha was born in Midland, Texas, on September 8, 1950, to Whannita Barnes Lindsley Grahm and Clyde Delbert Lindsley. She attended schools in Texas. She graduated from Steven F. Austin University in 1973. Martha enjoyed the mountains, camping, her animals, collecting things, and most of all her son, Jonathan and grandchildren. Her occupation throughout her life involved Social Services with the Department of Family Services in Texas, working with Latch-key children, and teaching at Red Grade Christian Academy. Martha is preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her son and grandchildren. Memorial services for Martha will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 8, 2010, at Kane Funeral Home with Reverend Craig Fox officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Kansas. James Nelson Wolfe
March 30, 1938 - May 1, 2010
James Nelson Wolfe, 72, died Saturday, 01 May 2010, at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center in Cheyenne, Wyoming, following complications from heart surgery. Services will be Monday, May 10, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church with The Rev. Phil Wold officiating. A reception at the Sheridan Country Club will be held following the services. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Jim was born in Sheridan, Wyoming, March 30, 1938, to James Winfield Wolfe and Irene Patricia (Dolly) (Nelson) Wolfe. He grew up in Sheridan, graduating from Sheridan High School in 1956. He attended the University of Wyoming one year before enlisting in the Army in 1957 where he was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri (Fort Lost in the Woods of Misery, as he called it). He received an honorable discharge July 1959. Jim married
Patricia Marie Aldershof, who survives him, in Ottumwa, Iowa, June 11, 1960. He returned to the University of Wyoming graduating with a BS in accounting in 1962. In 1965 he received his JD degree in Law and was admitted to the Wyoming State Bar in 1965. He was in private practice from 1965 - 1968, 1970 - 1985, and from 1993 to the present. He was Administrator of the Governor’s Committee on Criminal Administration from 1968 to 1970. He returned to Sheridan to practice law and was Sheridan County and Processing Attorney from 1970 to 1978. He was appointed to the bench of the Fourth Judicial District, a position he held from March 1985 to January 1993. Jim married
Leslie (Missy) Johnston Mullinax in Parkman, WY July 13, 1993. During their marriage they have resided in Cheyenne, WY. At the time of his death he was a part time State Public Defender for the State of Wyoming, including his private practice and mediation. “Those of us who were fortunate enough to know him will miss his humor, his honesty, and his unique outlook on life. There was not a case he couldn't handle nor a client he couldn't manage. We will miss him greatly. The Public Defender's office has lost a great friend and a warrior for the indigent accused.” State of Wyoming Public Defender’s Office. Jim was a member of the Wyoming State Bar, Past Commissioner of the Wyoming State Bar, Past President of Sheridan County Bar Association, Past Chairman of the Wyoming Judicial Council, and Cheyenne Trap Club. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his wife, his two children, Melinda Wolfe Ree, her husband Mark, and grandsons, Martin and Kayne of Banner; James Winfield Wolfe, his wife, Cindy, and son, Jeremy of Carpenter, Wyoming; two stepsons, Nathan Mullinax and his wife, Sierra. and 4 grandchildren, Matthew, Seth, Luke, and Anna; Aaron Mullinax and his wife, Deborah, and 3 grandchildren, Haydon, Drew, and Emme. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Jim was known for his sense of humor, being great with kids, loving his grandchildren and having fun with them, giving them many laughs and good times, love of the courtroom, and love of the outdoors. He will be missed by all who loved him. Jim’s grandmother, Edith Nelson, was the first white child born in Sheridan County in 1880. It is told an Indian brave offered her parents 15 ponies for her. Valynne Wilcox Laymon
June 16, 1919 - April 28, 2010
Valynne Wilcox Laymon, 90, passed away at home in Salt Lake City, Utah, April 28, 2010. She was born in Moab on June 16, 1919, to Quintin Wilcox and Geneva Shafer Wilcox. She graduated from Carbon County High School, LDS School of Nursing and went on to receive her bachelors degree in nursing from the University of Utah in 1960. She married
Marvin L. Laymon on March 21, 1942. She is survived by their daughters: Marcia Sage and husband, David Sage of Denver, Colorado and Dr. Leslie Madden of Casper, Wyoming; three grandchildren, David Sage, Tierney Sage Alissi, Tyler Kelly Sage; and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother and his wife, Kent and Cherie Wilcox of Clovis, CA and her brother-in-law Dan Morgan of Logan, Utah, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin, her parents and her sister, Shirley Wilcox Morgan. She was a member of the South East Baptist Church in Salt Lake. Valynne was an admired example of the fine ideals of her generation: devotion to family and country, hard work, judicious simple living, the meeting of responsibility to coming generations and charity toward all. Her faith and religion were vital to her and greatly influenced every aspect of her life. Born right after the First World War, she persevered through the Great Depression, served as a military wife and mother of two daughters during WWII, helped her husband, a medical technologist, through five battles with cancer during their 43 years of marriage. In addition, she proudly pursued a 45 year career in psychiatric nursing with the Veterans Administration. She enjoyed her achievements and worked hard with her husband to create a complete, balanced and very happy life for her family. With love and affection, she was known to her family as "Nana." Her love, compassion, dedication, intelligence, sense of humor and her extreme generosity to all her loved ones, friends, church and charities will always be remembered and cherished. She enjoyed life and often expressed gratitude for the wonderful caretakers who helped her carry on. Her family offers its profound appreciation, also, to those caretakers. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2010, at the Sheridan Municipal cemetery, Sheridan, Wyoming, with Chaplain Randy Sawyer officiating. Bonnie Dean Bloom
August 19, 1935 – April 29, 2010
Bonnie Dean Bloom, 74, of Colorado Springs formerly of Fort Collins, died April 29, 2010 at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs. Bonnie was born August 19, 1935 in Fort Collins to Fred and Opal (Newberry) Whicker. Ms. Bloom lived most of her life in Colorado. She was a foster mother, and everyone called her “mom”. Bonnie loved her kids and grandkids unconditionally. She enjoyed fishing, camping, the ocean and flying. Survivors include her sons, Jimmie Ramage of Fort Collins, Freddie Bloom of Casper, Wyoming; daughter, Tanya Bloom of Colorado Springs; sister, Donna Ersch of Cheyenne, Wyoming; and six grandchildren, Brian Mills, Emily Bloom, Joshua Bloom, Cody Ramage, Mekhi Whicker, Briyar Whicker-Wheese; and three great-granddaughters. Bonnie loved Koby, her miniature schnauzer that was a constant companion to her for over nine years. Her grandchildren made her life a brighter place. When nothing else could make her smile, her grandkids made her day. She loved being a part of each of their lives as much as possible. Proceeding Bonnie in death is her son, Ricky Mills; brothers, Herschel Snider and Gene Loggins. A Funeral Service will be held at Bohlender Funeral Chapel on Friday at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be Saturday, 11:00 a.m. at Resthaven Memory Gardens cemetery. Those who desire may view Mrs. Bloom, Wednesday, 12:00 – 5:00 p.m. and Thursday, 12:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Former Sheridan resident Craig A. Scheckla, 57, died Sunday, May 2, 2010, at his Alaska home. Services are 2 p.m. May 15 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Sheridan. A reception will follow at the Sheridan Holiday Inn. Arrangements are with Peninsula Memorial Funeral Home in Alaska.
Lindee Jo (Baldwin) Black
August 16, 1957 – May 1, 2010
Lindee Jo (Baldwin) Black went to her Heavenly home on May 1, 2010, after a hard fought battle to overcome cancer. Lindee was born on August 16, 1957 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Jodee and Keith. As a bright and loving child Lindee graduated early from Skyline High School and later attended Idaho State University. After marriage Lindee had three beautiful children. Thirteen years ago Lindee moved to Sheridan where she will always be remembered as one of the most giving people to touch our lives. It was here she met her soul mate Roger Black, and spent much of her time enriching our community as a daycare worker and health care provider. Her vivacious personality and compassionate heart will be missed by us all. Lindee Black is survived by her husband Roger K. Black, three children Dustin, Mistee, and Codee Perry, three grandchildren Max and Eli Perry and Finlee Rose O’Leary, her Mother Jodee Johnston (Dick), and father Keith Baldwin (Jeanne) and siblings Randee K. Baldwin, Renee Siahpush, Amy Bunch, Jo Madson, John R. Johnston, RoChel Burtenshaw, Deanne Sargent and Heidi Reeves. Services for Lindee will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2051 Colonial Drive in Sheridan, Wyoming, Thursday, May 6, 2010, at 2:00 PM with Bishop Rod Workman officiating. A visitation will be held a half hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Sheridan Municipal cemetery. A reception will follow at the church. Hollie Sare
Our precious daughter, Hollie Ann Sare of Eastsound WA., died on April 16th, 2010 at the age of 22. Hollie was born September 8, 1987 in Stockton California and relocated to Sheridan Wyoming at the age of 3, where she lived for 10 years. In Sheridan she attended Holy Name Catholic School, belonged to the Youth Choral Society, and performed in the production of Guys and Dolls, loved basketball, volleyball, baseball, horseback riding, camping and fishing. At 13 the family moved to Washington finding home on Orcas Island. Hollie attended Orcas Island Public School through the 11th grade, her passion; sports and friends. She was active in the Community Youth Christian Group, St. Francis Catholic Church and Choir. She belonged to the Lady Vikings Volleyball, Basketball and Softball teams. She continued her passion in basketball playing with the Evergreen Express traveling the west coast and with the Redmond Mustangs her senior year. Hollie accepted a basketball scholarship and played for Shoreline College. Hollie is preceded in death by her Grandparents, Agnes and William Myers, Uncles, Scott and Kevin Myers and John Hursh. Hollie is survived by her parents Jaye and Vicki Sare of Eastsound Washington, her siblings Sara (Jake) Phillips of Sheridan Wyoming, Teresa (Lamin) Ceesay of Lynnwood Washington, Andrew (Katie) Wallenkamp of Sheridan Wyoming and Spencer and Samuel Sare of Eastsound Washington. Grandparents, Shirley Sare of Eastsound Washington and Keith (Jo) Sare of Sheridan Wyoming. Three nieces, Lennon, Aliyah and Lisa and three nephews, Lukas, Weston and James. Aunts and Uncles Chris and Maria Sare, Kitty and Dean Harrington and Bill and Tammy Myers. Funeral Services were held at St. Francis Catholic Church with the help of Evans funeral home. A Celebration of Life reception was at the Orcas Center. Hollie’s bright energy will inspire all the hearts she’s touched.

Jerry Prazma
September 10, 1933 – June 22, 2010
Funeral services for Jerry Prazma will be held Thursday, July 1, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Moorcroft with Rev. Guille Siegler of the First Southern Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Pisgah cemetery in Gillette. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 30th from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Moorcroft. Former Moorcroft resident Jerry L. Prazma, age 76, passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2010 in Peoria Arizona surrounded by his family. Jerry Prazma was born September 10, 1933 in Moorcroft, Wyoming to James and Anna (Sabatka) Prazma. He grew up on the family ranch. Jerry attended school in Rozet, graduating from Rozet High School in 1951. Upon graduation he went to Sheridan College on a basketball scholarship. Jerry was drafted into the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He received an honorable discharge in 1955. Jerry then attended Black Hills Teachers College, where he received his degree. Following graduation Jerry joined the Wyoming Highway Patrol, and was assigned to both Torrington and Cheyenne. During his time in Torrington he met Roberta Stovall. They were married
December 3, 1960 in Rapid City, South Dakota, they then made their home in Moorcroft. In 1969, Jerry began working for Belle Fourche Pipeline, first as a gauger, then as a pipeline inspector. He retired in 1993. Jerry was an avid sportsman, who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Camping every weekend in the summer was spent with his family fishing at Lake DeSmet or in the Big Horn Mountains. After his wife passed away in 2007, he was devastated. He moved to Arizona to be near his daughters and granddaughter. He loved watching his granddaughter play volleyball. He continued to travel between Arizona and Wyoming monthly. Bear Lodge Resort became his home away from home and everyone there became his extended family. Jerry is survived by his son, Gerald (Paige) Prazma of Harper’s Ferry, West Virginia; his daughter, Cheryl (John) Mertz of Peoria, Arizona, and his daughter, Jamie Prazma (fiancé John D. Davis) of Moorcroft, Wyoming; three grandchildren: Brandon and Jared Prazma and Madeline Mertz, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Roberta, parents James and Anna, and brother Robert. Memorials are suggested to benefit Prime Care Hospice, 4225 W. Charles I. Heinrich
August 25, 1919 – June 23, 2010
Charles I. Heinrich, 90, of Sheridan, passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2010 a Memorial Hospital of Sheridan. Charles was born August 25, 1919 on a farm in Donnelly, MN. He attended country schools until the 8th grade and then continued to help his parents on the farm for a number of years. He married
Grace Johnson on September 3, 1946 at the First Lutheran Church in Morris, MN. He briefly owned the Hilltop night club in Glenwood, MN and drove truck for Clifford Johnson. He eventually owned his own trucking company for 46 years until he retired at 71. After his retirement, he and his wife enjoyed traveling to Wyoming to visit their daughter and her family. He took care of his wife, Grace, until her death in 1995. Shortly afterwards he moved to the West Central Christian Homes. In his later years, Charles enjoyed visiting with family and friends, playing cards, and ice fishing. He was also a member of the Shriners. Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Grace, infant son, brothers, Julius and Fredrick, and his parents. He is survived by two children, Chuck (Gail) Heinrich of Morris, MN, Renee (Mick) Conroy of Big Horn, WY, four grandchildren, Arik Kolden of Dever, CO and Matt Kolden of Sheridan WY; Lindsey Heinrich of Alexandria, MN, and Luke Smith of New Orleans, LA, and a sister, Phyllis Dyer of Morris, MN. Services for Charles will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church, Morris, MN with Pastor John Smith in Morris, MN.
