Donald R. DeLapp here on June 20, 1953. Mrs. DeLapp was preceded in death by an infant sister, Mary Janice Kinter; a sister, Barbara Schaffer; and a brother, Alfred Kinter. Survivors include her husband of Sheridan; four children, Donald Matthew DeLapp, Sheri Cisneros, Tim DeLapp and David DeLapp; seven sisters Norma Kinter of Tacoma, Wash., Evelyn Meyer of Skagway, Alaska, Georgia Manuel of Baxley, Ga., Anna Bassett of Fort Collins, Colo., Peggy Marker of Loveland, Colo., and Judy Kinter and Karen Hans of Sheridan; a brother, Chris Kinter of Cynthiana, Ky.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one aunt; three uncles; and numerous nieces and nephews. Edwin Wayne Sampson
Edwin Wayne Sampson, 82, of Galesburg, Ill., father of James Edwin Sampson of Sheridan, died Monday, Feb. 22, 2010, at his residence. At his request, cremation has taken place and no services are planned. Arrangements are with Watson Funeral Home in Galesburg. Born Aug. 11, 1927, in Hermon, Ill., to Wayne and Beulah Moore Sampson, he attended schools in London Mills, Ill. He lived many years in Galesburg and worked at Gale Products for more than 35 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was preceded in death by a sister and two half sisters. In addition to his son, survivors include two daughters, Christine Rose of Billings and Carol Sue Valadez of Rock Falls, Ill.; a sister, Eileen Sampson Nutt of New Windsor, Ill.; a half sister, Rita Irene Taylor of Sheridan; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Memorials may benefit the Lung Cancer Association.
CHARLOTTE M. SMITH
JULY 15, 1920 - FEBRUARY 27, 2010
Charlotte M. Smith, 89, of Sheridan, Wyoming passed away on February 27, 2010 at Saddle Ridge Rehabilitation Center. Charlotte was born July 15, 1920 in Sheridan, Wyoming to Roy L. Graves and Goldie M. (Fetter) Graves on her mother's 23 rd birthday. She attended schools in Big Horn and Sheridan graduating from Sheridan High School. She married
Steve R. Smith in Billings, Montana on January 11, 1947. She worked as a telephone operator and at JC Penney's, but quit to be a homemaker, wife and mother. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, joining in 1939, and holds the longest membership at the Sheridan church. Charlotte enjoyed crocheting, ceramics, textile painting, creating photo albums and was an avid coin and stamp collector. She compiled a thorough genealogy of both her and her husband's families. She belonged to the Big Horn Historical Society and was a volunteer at the Big Horn Museum. Her children fondly remember frequently coming home to the smell of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 60 years, parents, brother and infant sister. Charlotte is survived by two daughters, Cheryl and her husband Brad Smith of Fort Collins, Colorado and Nancy and husband John Elkins of Sheridan. She has seven grandchildren, Alyssa and husband Randy Jolovich, Kimberly Brown, John R. Elkins, Heather and husband Mike Jones, Selina and husband Todd Nohr, Shelley and husband Joe LaMastra, and Steven Smith. There are 15 great grandchildren, Derrick Elkins, Cole Jolovich, Kelsi Hayden, Cody Jolovich, Brandon Elkins, Courtney Jolovich, Jace Brown, Evan Wilkins, Remington Nohr, Cade Wilkins, Colt Nohr, Jay LaMastra, Ashlyn Elkins, Tawni Nohr, Lucas LaMastra and one more LaMastra on the way. She is also survived by her brother Bob Graves and special nephew Willie Graves. She enjoyed giving to her family and surprising them with her gifts. Her last thoughts were for her family's happiness. Charlotte and her family deeply appreciated the loving care given to her by the Saddle Ridge Staff.

Georgia Kay (Kinter) Manuel
Sheridan native Georgia Kay (Kinter) Manuel, 67, sister of Judy Kinter and Karen Hans of Sheridan, died Sunday, March 7, 2010, in Savannah, Ga. Memorial services were at Swains Funeral Home on March 10 in Baxley, Ga. Born May 3, 1942, in Sheridan to Frederick and Bernice (Gosch) Kinter, she graduated from Sheridan High School in 1960, then moved to California, where she married
John Kilroy. They divorced. She later married
Dennis Manuel. She worked in various banking positions, becoming vice president for Pacific Savings and Loan. After retirement, she moved to Baxley to live with a daughter. She enjoyed reading, cooking and time spent with family. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Bernice DeLapp, Barbara Schaffer and Mary Janice Kinter; and one brother, Alfred Kinter. In addition to her sisters, survivors include a daughter, Karen Lynn, and two granddaughters of Baxley; and five siblings, Norma Kinter of Tacoma, Wash., Evelyn Meyer of Skagway, Alaska, Chris Kinter of Cynthiana, Ky., Anna Basset of Fort Collins, Colo., and Peggy Marker of Loveland, Colo.
Elaine Moon
Elaine Moon, 95, of Sheridan died Monday, April 26, 2010, in Sheridan Memorial Hospital. Funeral service will be private. Burial will be in Sheridan Municipal cemetery with arrangements by Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Born Nov. 30, 1914, in Hanna to Albert and Norah (Bowkett) Woodhead, she grew up in the Dietz-Kleenburn-Monarch area and attended school in Sheridan. She married
Jessie Clair Moon on Feb. 24, 1934, in Sheridan. She worked as a clerk at Safeway, Boyd’s and later as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Eventide. Mrs. Moon was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church and Women's Guild. She enjoyed cooking, baking and many years of making breads, cakes and assorted recipes for her family and friends. She especially enjoyed camping and fishing trips with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant son, Richard; and siblings Bill, Agnes and Annie. Survivors include one son, David; three daughters, Norah, Carol and Judi; one sister, Edie; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Memorials may benefit St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 1 S. SHIRLEY LEE OUDIN FOWLER
JUNE 29, 1940 - APRIL 26, 2010
Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed peacefully from this life April 26, 2010 in Sheridan, Wyoming, with family at her side. Shirley was born June 29, 1940 in Deadwood, South Dakota, the fourth child of Henry and Mae Oudin. She was raised in Crook County, Wyoming. On February 19, 1961, Shirley Oudin married
Guy E. Fowler, a newly commissioned lieutenant in the USAF. They were blessed with two children, LaShel and Todd. During their military career together, Guy and Shirley lived in more than a dozen places in the United States and enjoyed an exciting 2-year tour in LaPaz, Bolivia. They completed their military service in 1983 and remained in Brigham City, Utah where Guy worked for Thiokol Corp., from which he retired in 1996. After retirement, Guy and Shirley moved home to Wyoming, settling in Sheridan County. Once the children left home, Shirley and Guy spent more time doing the things they enjoyed most. They participated in several bowling leagues, golfed as often as weather permitted and traveled extensively in their fifth wheeler. They traveled abroad as well, touring Canada, Germany, Austria, Sweden and Denmark. Shirley will be most remembered by her friends as a talented cook and hostess. She was known for hosting parties and freely sharing her vast recipe collection. She loved to sew, fish and cheer on John Stockton of the Utah Jazz. She was a beautiful woman with an unforgettable smile and a personality that people admired and enjoyed, long after Alzheimer’s Disease took its toll. Shirley will be most remembered by her family as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her example of selfless love and devotion has touched us all. She will be forever remembered and greatly missed by those who have survived her, including her husband Guy of Sheridan; daughter LaShel Burningham (Mark) of Eagle, Idaho; and son Todd Fowler (Carrie) of Chattanooga, Tennessee; sisters Marjorie Creamer of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Marie Sewell (Sammy) of Newcastle, Wyoming; brothers Jim Oudin (Dee) of Cody, Wyoming and Bill Oudin (Doris) of Sundance, Wyoming. Her grandchildren are Ryan, Matt, Kevin and Mairen Burningham of Eagle and Nicholas, Sophia and Erik Fowler of Chattanooga. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Roger Creamer. Funeral services will be held in Sundance at the United Methodist Church on Friday, April 30 at 1:00pm, with interment following at Mt. Moriah cemetery in Sundance, with the Reverend Maurice B. Campbell officiating. A reception to follow at the United Methodist Church. The family has established a memorial for The Greenhouse Living for Sheridan, P.O. Box 444, Sheridan, WY 82801. Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Lillian “Nana” Rader died on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Sheridan Memorial Hospital. She and her late husband, Luther Rader, were charter members of Faith Lutheran Church in Springfield, Missouri, and Lillian also enjoyed attending services and Sunday school at Trinity Lutheran Church of Sheridan. She was a lover of God, of literature, and most of all, her family. She was known for baking the best cookies in the world, for her expert sewing abilities, for sending notes of encouragement, and for being the best sister, mom and Nana that anyone could ask for! Her explosive laughter and choice wit will be missed by many. She was born December 23, 1919 in Willard, MO and made her residence in Springfield until moving to Sheridan 11 years ago. She is survived by her sisters, Iva June Hamilton and Bobbie Brautigam of Springfield, MO, her son, Mike Rader, of Bloomington, MN, her daughter, Pat Brackley of Sheridan, and her two granddaughters, Laura and Melissa Brackley of Sheridan. They will all remember her feisty spirit. A graveside service will be held at Eastlawn cemetery in Springfield. Memorial donations may go to Trinity Lutheran Church of Sheridan.
Frank Sharpski Jr.
Frank Sharpski Jr., 69, of Sheridan died Thursday, April 22, 2010, in Westview Health Care Center. Memorial service is 10 a.m. Saturday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronald Stolcis officiating. Born June 4, 1940, in Pittsburgh to Frank and Jennie (Steibrick) Sharpski Sr., he grew up and graduated from high school in Lynwood, Calif. He married
Sharon Ruth Bell on June 4, 1960, in Long Beach, Calif. Mr. Sharpski worked as a printer at the Los Angeles Times newspaper for 41 years. He moved in 2004 to Sheridan, where he owned and operated the KOA Campground. He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church and numerous camping clubs. He enjoyed camping, cars and racing, collecting old coins, and watching his grandchildren in sports and school events. Survivors include two sons, Rick and Dave of Sheridan; one sister, Cheryl Sharpski of Whittier, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Allen
Elizabeth "Betty" Allen, 56, of Sheridan died Thursday, April 22, 2010, at Sheridan VA Medical Center. Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Name Catholic Church with the Rev. Rob Spaulding officiating. Burial will be at Sheridan Municipal cemetery with military honors. Arrangements are with Kane Funeral Home. Born in Roundup, Mont., on March 13, 1954, she was one of nine children. When she was young, the family was divided and the children were sent to live in adoptive homes. After high school graduation, she enlisted the U.S. Army and served from 1973 through 1976 as a communication specialist. She was stationed at Fort Huachuca, Ariz., and the Pentagon. Following active duty she served in the South Dakota and Wyoming National Guard, where she was administrative assistant to the Judge Advocate General Corps and an administrative assistant to the Wyoming inspector general. She traveled frequently and had friends throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Eastern Star and Job’s Daughters. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Allen of Shell, and a sister, Janice Reed. Survivors include six sisters, Alice Morrison, Liz Smith, Ann Phelps, Linda Connoly, Susan Tippets, and Caroline Cheatham; three brothers, Paul Cade, Wilber Cade and Ed Sharen; several cousins; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dorothy Maloney, 87, of Sheridan, died Thursday, April 22, 2010, in Sheridan Memorial Hospital. Private family services are planned. Arrangements are with Kane Funeral Home. She was born March 14, 1923, in Marshall, Ill., to Erna and Carrie Francis Smith Horsley. She married
Elbert Lee Maloney. Mrs. Maloney was a homemaker who her family said cared more about other people than herself. She looked after her friends at Sheridan Manor. She enjoyed puzzle books, gardening, bingo, and time spent with family. Family members said she dedicated her life to loving her children and grandchildren, and wanted nothing more than for family members to be happy, and to love and respect each other. She was preceded in death by her husband; and two sons, Ronald and John Maloney. Survivors include a son, Timothy Maloney of Sheridan; two daughters, Deana Campbell of Kingman, Ariz., and Cheryl Maloney of Red Lodge, Mont.; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

John ‘JT’ Trevathan
John “JT” Trevathan, 31, of Sheridan, died Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at his residence. Elizabeth Anderson Oct. 21, 2006, in Sheridan. He was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, and enjoyed his children, tattoos, and bingo. He was preceded in death by his mother. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Nathaniel Brown and Jakers Trevathan of Sheridan; one daughter, Tassel Trevathan of Sheridan; and foster mother Jeanie Lesmeister of Billings. Michael W. Freeman
Michael W. Freeman, 59, of Sheridan, died Monday, April 19, 2010, at his residence. Service is 10 a.m. Friday at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Kevin Jones officiating. Arrangements are with Kane Funeral Home. Mr. Freeman was born Dec. 22, 1950, in Zanesville, Ohio, to Dorothy Ruth Spencer and Charles William Freeman. He earned a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in psychology and law. He married
Christie Steven Williams Oct. 14, 1984. He was a member of the Lion’s Club, Ohio State University Alumni, and St. Peters Episcopal Church in Sheridan. He enjoyed psychology, fellowship, fishing, hiking and taking scenic drives by car. His favorite music came from the 1970s including Crosby Stills and Nash, Neil Young, Jackson Browne, the Byrds and the Beatles. For the past few years he worked remodeling his home. Michael was preceded in death by his mother and father. Survivors include his wife, three children, Aaron Freeman, Daniel Freeman and Lisa Freeman, all of Sheridan; two sisters, Patty Lawson of Burlington, Ken and Janice Trout of Marengo, Ohio, and one brother, Patrick Freeman of Springboro, Ohio. Veronica Thelma Lavato
Veronica Thelma Lavato, 51, of Denver passed away April 19, 2010, in Sheridan. A rosary will be 7 p.m. Thursday and funeral services 2 p.m. Friday at the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Costilla, N.M. Marge A. Robertson
Sheridan native Marge A. Robertson, 73, of Loma, Mont., died Sunday, April 18, 2010, in Great Falls, Mont., of natural causes, according to family. At her request, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal services. Arrangements are with Croxford Funeral Home and Crematory in Great Falls. Mrs. Robertson enjoyed watching wild birds and animals, doing yard work, camping, fishing and dart games. Her husband, Jim Robertson, preceded her in death in March 1996. Survivors include daughter Letty Shaffer of Sheridan; sons Walt Kawulok, Jr. of Ranchester and Sam Kohl of Billings; a step-daughter, Penny Robertson of Shoreview, Minn.; eight grandchildren; and six-great-grandchildren.
