Richard Barbula, 80, of Sheridan died Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009, at his residence. Graveside service are 2 p.m. Wednesday in Sheridan Municipal cemetery with the Rev. Terral Bearden officiating. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Born March 12, 1929, in Monarch to Hank and Alma (Legerski) Barbula, he grew up and attended schools in Sheridan. After serving in the U.S. Army, he worked several jobs including coal mining, construction and in the oil fields. He married
Darlene Braden on April 15, 1995, in Colorado Springs, Colo. He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed camping in the mountains, hunting, fishing and gardening. He was preceded in death by a former wife, Evelyn, and a son, Jimmy. Survivors include his wife; six sons, Mike, Dick, Joe, Carl, David and Robert; seven daughters, Terri, Barbara, Veronica, Diane, Sherry, Evelyn and Ronni; 41 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Frances Louise Tetreault, 80 of Spearfish, South Dakota passed away August 28th 2009 at the Hospice House in Rapid City, South Dakota, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born May 15th 1929 to Nadine (Driscoll) Wood and Ben Wood. Frances was raised in Belle Fourche, South Dakota and married
the love of her life, Floyd Tetreault June 23rd 1949. Throughout her life Frances pursued her passion for art and travel. She received her Doctorate in Art Education at ASU, and painted throughout her life. Her travels took her to Europe and many other countries, which helped to inspire much of her artwork. Her love of animals and her compassion for the less fortunate guided her quest through life. She did many helpful things for people, not for recognition, but because she felt she could make a difference. Frances is survived by her daughter, Susan Tetreault Paul and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Floyd, sister, Jesse Christianson, brother, Billy Ben Wood, and son Bill. Memorial services will be held Saturday, September 5th 2009 at 10:30 A.M. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Spearfish. Joan Marie Wetsch Baumann, 44, of Sheridan WY died October 20, 2009 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident east of Buffalo, Wyoming. Born May 10, 1965 in Bismark, ND to Jim and Jean Wetsch of Mandan, ND. Joan grew up in Mandan and graduated from Mandan Senior High School in 1983, she then attended and graduated from North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, ND. It was there she met her husband and love of her life, Dallas Baumann. They were married
in Los Altos, CA June 20, 1987, and lived in Sunneyvale, CA. In 1988 they moved to Berthoud, CO where she worked for the FAA Air Traffic Control Administration office in Longmont, CO. Several years later Joan and her husband moved to Sheridan, WY where they purchased, owned and operated the Radio Shack store for 5 years. Following the sale of the store, Joan accepted a position with HUB International in Sheridan. She enjoyed her job and made many friends there. On many of her days off, she would help her husband with the family business at Accents of Wyoming. They spent much time together fly fishing, camping and Joan's love for browsing stores and shopping. They loved to be together, whether it was working at the store, around their home or enjoying the outdoors. Joan enjoyed reading but most of all she enjoyed cooking for friends and family, taking treats to work and baking for days, preparing for large family get-togethers. It was not unusual for Joan to have nearly completed all of her Christmas shopping and have the presents delivered by June. She was extremely organized and lived by lists, calendars and most of all, Post-It notes. She never missed sending a birthday card and they always arrived on time. Family was a priority for Joan. Almost yearly she would visit her family and her 96 year old grandmother in ND or her 96 year old grandfather in MO. She was a wonderful wife, daughter, sister, aunt and daughter in-law. Joan's tranquility, graceful personality and friendliness will be missed. Joan is survived by her husband, Dallas, her parents, Jim and Jean Wetsch, Mandan, her sister Jerri (Loren) Volk, niece, Dana, and nephew, Eric, Elk River, MN, maternal grandfather, Vaughn Liter, Shelbyville, MO, her paternal grandmother, Veronica Schafer, Mandan, father and mother in-law, Wayne and Eidella, Sheridan, brother in-law, Wayne D. (Nicole) and nieces, Samantha, Sierra and Stormy Baumann, Longmont, CO.
Leslie R. Snyder
Leslie R. Snyder, 26, of Sheridan died Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, in her Sheridan home. Memorial service will be in West Virginia. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Born Feb. 2, 1983, in Elkins, W.Va., to Harvey and Theresa (Tripplet) White, she grew up in West Virginia and married
Benjamin Snyder. They came to Sheridan in 2006. Survivors include her husband and sons Gabriel, Lance and Zachary.
Shirley Kaufman Carter-Dailey
Former Sheridan resident Shirley Kaufman Carter-Dailey, 72, died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2009, in Indianapolis of cancer, according to family. Born May 5, 1937, in Billings to Dan and Freida (Goodman) Kaufman, she moved with her family to the Box Cross Ranch south of Sheridan in 1947. She was a 1955 graduate of Big Horn High School. She lived in Seattle, New Orleans and Chattanooga, Tenn., before moving to Sheridan in 1997. She was a member of Kiwanis and chairwoman of the duck race. She performed with the Sheridanaires from 2000 to 2007. Survivors include two sons, Brandon of Chattanooga and Daren of Indianapolis; and three sisters, Carol, Peggy and Nancy. Jay Leonard ‘Bud’ Biley
Jay Leonard “Bud” Biley, 82, of Clearmont died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at home surrounded by family. A celebration of life is 10 a.m. Saturday at Clearmont Community Church with Pastor Monty Rostad officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Hope cemetery in Big Horn, followed by a luncheon gathering of family and friends at Big Horn Woman's Club. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Born Aug. 8, 1927, in Sheridan to Jay and Olive (Miller) Biley, he grew up on his grandfather Silas Miller’s homestead on Lower Prairie Dog, raised by his mother and grandmother. He attended the Miller School on Lower Prairie Dog and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1945. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served a tour of active duty on the USS Hancock in the Atlantic at the close of World War II. After the service, he went to work for the Bar 13 Ranch south of Big Horn. He married
Nadine “Billie” Richards of Sheridan on June 10, 1951, and they raised three daughters. They remained on the Bar 13, where he retired as a full-time ranch hand in the summer of 1996. In 2002, they moved to Clearmont to live on their daughter and son-in-law's ranch. He was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Bryant. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Marla Biley of Gillette, Carol Perry of Clearmont, and Bonnie Bell of Casper; two sisters, Phyllis Parenteau of Billings and Edith McClurg of Anchorage, Alaska; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Memorials may benefit the Clearmont Community Church Building Fund.
MARY FAITH BRADFORD MORELAND

Mary Faith Bradford Moreland, 87, died October 26, 2009, in Amie Holt Nursing Home in Buffalo, WY. Mary Moreland was born October 13, 1922, in Medford, Mass to Adwina Garcelon and Alfred Bradford. She had a wonderful childhood in the suburbs of Boston with pony rides, summer camp at Lake Winnepasaki, activities in the Episcopal Church, piano recitals, making ceramics with her mother and modeling for her father's fine photography, warm days on the beach, and visits to grandparents in Maine. Mary graduated from Westbrook Junior College in Portland, Maine, in 1942, where she was an accomplished leader in the Equestrian Club with various awards in horsemanship. She enjoyed her psychology classes and the many social events of the college community. In November of 1942, Miss Mary christened and launched a new liberty ship, the SS William Bradford. The ship was named for the Plymouth Colony's first Governor, of whom she was a direct descendant. A visit to her uncle in Globe, Arizona, introduced Mary to even more horses and the cowboy life where her destiny as a westward woman began. She married
Leonard Dunning, fell in love with Birney, Montana and had her first son. They later divorced. Mary was an amazing mother from that time onward, reading and singing with laughter all the while. Mary met Wilson W. Moreland at a Birney gathering. On August 1, 1951, they eloped to Miles City and were happily married
. As Wilson had one son living in Florida, they began their family with two children and together, at Birney, they had four more delightful rascals. Mary thrived at Birney with parenting, milking the good old cow, Bobby, helping around the place, gardening, and visiting with many ranching friends. They lived at Birney for many years and later lived in Marshaltown, Pennsylvania, before settling in Big Horn, Wyoming. Mary was active with all her children's school and rodeo activities. She loved reading and working in her garden. She even accompanied her granddaughter's violin recitals on the piano. Her family and friends were always precious priorities in her life. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Barbara Bradford Young. She is survived by her husband, Wilson, sons Forest Dunning, Johnny Moreland, Mike Moreland, and David Albury and daughters Barbara Moreland Guiliano, and Becky Moreland; ten grandchildren, Shane, Shannon, Bess, Virginia, Mark, Justin, Tausha, Megan, Michael, and Lane and eight great- grandchildren, Brittany, Brandy, Macon, Cooper, Austin, Caden, Alanah, and Skyler. We all love you Mom, Grandma and Friend. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 31, 2009, at 10 a.m. at Kane Funeral Home with Reverend John Meyer of St. Peter's Episcopal Church officiating. Inurnment will be at Mount Hope cemetery following the services. A reception will be held at the Elk's Lodge in Sheridan after the service until 3:00. Memorial services and celebration of life for Roland Landrey of Arvada are 2 p.m. Nov. 28 at the American Legion Hall in Buffalo. Private burial is planned. MARJORIE D. HOYER

Former Sheridan resident Marjorie D. Hoyer passed away on Oct 21 st, 2009 after a short battle with cancer. She was born on May 14 th, 1939 in Cody, WY. She attended school in Midwest, WY where she met her beloved husband Wesley Hoyer. They married
on Aug. 16 th, 1957 in Casper, WY. The couple followed highway construction with numerous companies in WY until 1969. They lived in Shirley Basin, WY from 1969 to 1975. Then from 1975 to 1987 they lived in Sheridan, WY. During those times she worked as a cashier in several grocery stores. They moved to Calvert, TX in 1989 where she worked as a change girl in one of the casinos until 1994. They then moved back to Sheridan where she again worked as a cashier for Buttrey’s and Albertson’s. The couple retired in 2004 and moved to Thermopolis, WY. Marjorie enjoyed reading, writing letters to her friends and family, crafting, and visiting with people. She is survived by her son Wayne (Lottie) Hoyer of Thermopolis; daughters, Tammy (Jim) Kibler of Sheridan and Brenda Hoyer of Thermopolis; 6 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild; 3 sisters, Paulette Berry of Thermopolis, Sandy Misler of Ft. Collins, CO; 1 brother Jess Simpson Jr. of Thermopolis. Cremation has taken place. There will be a celebration of life in the Spring of 2010. The time and place will be announced at a later date.
Thomas William O’Dell
Thomas William O’Dell, 72, of Sheridan died Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, at Sheridan VA Medical Center. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Kane Funeral Home with Christian wake service starting at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Rob Spaulding officiating. Spaulding will also celebrate Mass at 10 a.m. Friday in Holy Name Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Sheridan Municipal cemetery with a reception for family and friends following in the Parish Hall. Born March 24, 1937, in Sheridan to William and Leota (Cusick) O’Dell, he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1955, completing basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., in 1956. He served for six years including a tour in Germany. He then enlisted in the National Guard, serving as surveyor chief and retiring in 1986. He married
Alberta Nelsen on July 27, 1957, in Torrington. Mr. O’Dell worked as a Burlington Northern Railroad engineer until he retired in 2004. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, the family cabin, farming, collecting trains, reading and time with his children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and one grandson, Allen O’Dell. Survivors include six children, William “Andy” O’Dell of Sheridan, Dianne O’Dell of Casper, Susan Shackelford of Gillette, Thomas O’Dell of Colorado Springs, Colo., Theresa O’Dell of Sheridan, and David O’Dell of Ranchester; 21 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Memorials may benefit Holy Name School Administration or Sheridan VA Medical Center.

Letha (Lee) Miller, 89, of Sheridan, passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2009 at Sheridan Memorial Hospital with her family at her side. Lee was born on February 9, 1920, Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Nellie (Garoutte) Eaton. She married
John “Jack” F. Miller on November 3, 1938 in Des Moines, Iowa. They moved to Sheridan, Wyoming in 1951. Lee dedicated her life to raising and caring for all the generations of their
family from her children to her grandchildren to her great-grandchildren. Lee is survived by her husband of 71 years, Jack Miller of Sheridan, Wyoming, her sister, Hazel Keul of Carlisle, Iowa; daughter Jackie L. Orton of Orlando, Florida and daughter Theo E. Palmer of Los Angeles, California; three grandsons, Jason (Michele) Smith and Jeremy (Candy) Smith of Orlando, Florida and Charles (Misti) Palmer of Gillette, Wyoming; one granddaughter Elta (Ian) Meinert of Aurora, Colorado; six great-grandchildren, Sterling Smith of Sheridan, Wyoming, Vincent and Dominic (Russo) Smith of Orlando, Florida, Tabor Palmer of Gillette, Wyoming and Cavan and Aedan Meinert of Aurora, Colorado, and very special friends, Teresa (Buck) Peterson of Sheridan, Wyoming. There will be no services held at this time. A gathering of her family and friends will be announced at a later date. Mary Lou Sare, 80, of Sheridan, died Thursday, October 22, at her home with her family by her side. Mary Lou was born October 1, 1929, in Sheridan to Androw and Anna Chieslar. She attended the University of Wyoming where she was a member of the Kappa Delta sorority. Mary Lou worked at First Interstate Bank for 41 years and was the Vice President and Manager of the Trust Department. She was a board member of the WYO Theater and the Genesis Foundation. She previously served on many boards including Sheridan Memorial Hospital, YMCA and Wyoming Rehab. Mary Lou was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. Mary Lou’s favorite place on Earth was Disney World and she was lucky enough to go more than ten times. She also enjoyed collecting Mickey Mouse items. She loved backyard barbeques and taking long rides. Mary Lou loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was especially proud of her son Curt’s musical career and made an effort to see him perform whenever possible. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, her former husband Bill Sare, and her brother Jack Chieslar. She is survived by her son, Curt Sare (Margaret) of Sheridan and her daughter, Kim Dart Michael) of Sheridan; brother Gene Chieslar of Sheridan and sister

Sheridan resident Kathleen Agnes Marie CeCe, 54, passed away Friday, October 17, 2009 at Sheridan Manor. Born November 5, 1954, to Emery and Grace (Gugh) Labertrandie in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, she worked as a clerk and loved raising her children. Longtime companion Bill Grotz gave her the nickname “Apple Blossom.” She is survived by special friend Bill Grotz, daughters Bobbie Jo CeCe, and Kathy CeCe, and sons Jason CeCe and Russell Grotz. LeRoy W. Cotton
LeRoy W. Cotton, 61, of Sheridan died Saturday, October 17, 2009, at Sheridan VA Medical Center. Graveside service is 11 a.m. Monday in the Masonic Section of Sheridan Municipal cemetery with Masonic Lodge officers officiating. Military rites are by the American Legion and Wyoming National Guard. Born April 18, 1948, in Sheridan to George and Bonnie (Smith) Cotton, he graduated from high school in Sheridan. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. After the service, he worked at Bino’s Grocery until 1976, when he joined the Sheridan Police Department, serving until 1984. He was employed at a service station, Tour Ice and Duane’s Appliance. He married
Becky Pollard on Aug. 24, 2001, in Sheridan. He attended truck driving school and became the owner/operator of his own truck. Mr. Cotton was a 33rd degree Mason in Masonic Lodge 43, a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies, and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. Survivors include his father George Cotton, his wife; a son, Jason of Flagstaff, Ariz.; a stepdaughter, Christi Czapansky of England; two brothers, Sam of Sheridan and John of Colorado; two sisters, Georgia Cotton and April Hirchert, both of Sheridan; and two grandchildren. Virginia Boyd, 90, of Buffalo died Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009, while visiting family in Madrid, Spain. Vigil and reciting of rosary were Wednesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Buffalo. Mass of Christian Burial was Thursday at the church with the Rev. Pete Johnson as celebrant. Interment was in Willow Grove cemetery with graveside committal services.
