Anna Faye Wagenaar
Anna Faye Wagenaar, 92, of Sheridan, died Friday, Feb. 20, 2009, in Sheridan. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Bullis Funeral Chapel in Hardin, Mont. Interment will follow in Hardin Fairview cemetery. Born April 21, 1916, in Dayton to Benjamin and Elvira Vine Mock, she grew up in northern Wyoming and southeastern Montana graduating from Lodge Grass High School in 1937. She married
C. Everett Wagenaar on Nov. 23, 1937, in Billings, and they made their home on the family farm south of Hardin. She resided on the farm until 2008. A member of Alpha Rebekah Lodge, she enjoyed crocheting and all sorts of animals. She was known as a country girl at heart. She was preceded in death by her husband; two daughters, Eileen Watson and Judy Nielsen; and a son, Curley Wagenaar. Survivors include three sons, Verne, Paul and Don Wagenaar; three sisters, Mildred French, Rose Smith and Velma Nottingham; a brother, Miles Mock; 15 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. Gene R. Taylor
Gene R. Taylor, 47, of Sheridan died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, at Sheridan VA Medical Center. Memorial services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Kane Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Goodwin officiating. Born June 7, 1961, in Cody to Donald and Marlene Taylor, he enlisted in the Army in 1988 and served in the Persian Gulf War. He was honorably discharged in 1992. He married
Connie Curtis on Oct. 25, 1980, in Sheridan. He was passionate about his drywall business and passing the trade on to his sons. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, camping, picnics, barbecues, and watching football. He was an avid Green Bay Packers Fan. When his health permitted, he and his wife enjoyed traveling together and seeing different parts of the country. Survivors include his wife; his parents, Don Taylor of Missoula, Mont., and Marlene Delacey of California; three sons, Jeremy and Nick Taylor of Sheridan and Shane Taylor of Gillette; four brothers, John Taylor of Olympia, Wash., Dan Taylor of Sheridan, and Dale and Wayne Taylor, both of Missoula; two sisters, Sherri Gonzalez and Tanya Kendall, both of Missoula; and numerous nieces and nephews. Larry L. Cooley
Larry L. Cooley, 61, of Sheridan, died Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, in his Sheridan home. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. March 7 at Dayton Community Hall followed by a luncheon. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Born Dec. 14, 1947, in Dayton to Verner and Clara (Mooney) Cooley, he grew up there and graduated from Tongue River High School in 1966. He served in the U.S. Army as a medic during the Vietnam War. He married
Sandra Boyko in 1970. They divorced. Mr. Cooley worked all his life as a stone mason and was known for his beautiful work. He enjoyed animals, cooking, collecting old bottles, and fishing in the Big Horn Mountains, Big Goose Creek, or Lake DeSmet. He raised large gardens the past 12 years and enjoyed sharing the produce with friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Ronnie; a brother, Wendell; an uncle; and a niece. Survivors include a son, Christopher Michael of Sheridan; a daughter, Kimberly Lynn Cooley-Sharypin of Sheridan; three brothers, Mike of Dayton, Raymond of Gillette, and Joe of California; a sister, Stella Taylor of Pinedale; three grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Nellie L. Cooper Bocek Rasmussen
Nellie L. Cooper Bocek Rasmussen, 88, of Sheridan, died Monday, Feb. 23, 2009, at Sheridan Manor. A visitation will 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Kane Funeral Home. A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Friday at First Christian Church with the Rev. Doug Goodwin officiating. Born March 3, 1920, in Newcastle to Felix and Mary Lavergne, she graduated from Newcastle High School and married

Cliff Rasmussen in September 1996, and they were married
until his death in 2001. Mrs. Rasmussen enjoyed attending church, dancing, playing cards, and spending time with her family. Survivors include five children, Larry Cooper of Richmond, Ky., and Jackie Warnke, Dixie Will, Penny Cooper and Todd Cooper, all of Sheridan; four stepchildren, Lee Rompf and Dale Miller, both of Wyarno, and Connie Perry and Eddie Bocek, both of Sheridan; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Clinton R. Hoagland
Clinton R. Hoagland, 60, of Banner, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, at his home. Cremation has taken place and no services are planned. Kane Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Born June 15, 1948, in Greeley, Colo., he graduated from Cherry Creek High School in 1966 and from the Colorado School of Mines in 1970 with a degree in geophysics. Two years after graduating, he joined his grandfather in the ranching business and also became a real estate broker and owned his own company for the next 25 years.
He was active in his community serving as president of the Elizabeth, Colo., Chamber of Commerce, treasurer of the Elbert County Fair Board, president of the Kiowa Soil Conservation District, co-chair of the Elbert County Planning Commission, and charter member of the Douglas-Elbert County Board of Realtors. At the time of his death he was president-elect of Round-Up Riders of the Rockies. In 1995 he purchased the Banner Ranch in Banner, where he continued in the ranching business. While living in Banner, he served on the board and as president of the Big Horn Equestrian Center and on the board of Sheridan County Weed and Pest. He enjoyed outdoor activities including pack trips to the mountains, fishing, hunting, and playing polo. Survivors include his wife, Janet Hoagland, and son, William Hoagland, both of Banner; and his mother, Mary L. Hoagland, of Franktown, Colo. John Wesley Seamster
John Wesley Seamster, 35, formerly of Sheridan, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009, in Kansas, according to his family. Cremation has taken place and no services are planned. Born Sept. 10, 1973, in Sheridan to Debra (Seamster) and Bill Englehardt, he attended Sheridan schools and graduated from Sheridan High School. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Joan Y. and John W. Seamster of Sheridan. Survivors include a son, Michael; a daughter, Lisa; a brother, Hollis H. Cantrell III; a sister, Lisa Brown-Englehardt; and six aunts.
Ada Lucille Moeller Campbell
Ada Lucille Moeller Campbell, 82, died Thursday, February 19, 2009, at Sheridan Manor from complications of Alzheimer's Disease, according to family members. Memorial services are planned in June. Born June 1, 1926, in Midwest to Amel D. and Anna K. Moeller, she graduated from Midwest High School. She moved to Sheridan with her young son and married
Kenneth G. Campbell on Aug. 29, 1961. The family moved to Story in 1964 and remained there for more than 40 years. Mr. Campbell died in 1986. Mrs. Campbell had a variety of jobs in this area. She worked at the Sheridan County Election Board and for U.S. Rep. William H. Harrison, Montgomery Wards, and Dan's Ranch Wear. She also owned and operated Story's Village Inn restaurant briefly in the 1960s. She was a volunteer for Story churches, the Sheridan Soup Kitchen, and the Senior Center meals site at Story Woman's Club. She was active in Job's Daughters Bethel No. 27, Story Woman's Club, Story Garden Club, and Beta Sigma Phi. She was a member of Sheridan First Presbyterian Church and attended Bible studies over the years. For one generation of Story children, she was known as the “Bubble Gum Lady, ” a role she treasured dearly. In 2006 she was recognized by The Sheridan Press as one of Sheridan’s “Unsung Heroes.” Survivors include by a son, George Sherrod “Rod” Campbell of Lancaster, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Judy Raymond of Starkville, Miss.; three brothers, Amel Moeller of Santa Fe, Texas, Selmer Moeller of Sheridan, and John Moeller of Rawlins; an adopted daughter, Riva Trott; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may benefit Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children or a charity of the donor’s choice.
Elizabeth ‘Bettie’ Higgins
Elizabeth “Bettie” Higgins, 86, of Sheridan, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, at Sheridan Memorial Hospital. Per her request, cremation has taken place and no formal services are planned. Cremains will be scattered over the Bighorn Valley. Kane Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Richard “Dick” Higgins on Jan. 29, 1947, in Sheridan. She was a Denver Broncos fan and enjoyed reading and playing bridge.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Jim Higgins. She is survived by a daughter, Cleo deLagerheim; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. In lieu of flowers, memorials may benefit the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd St., New York, NY 10016.
John William Johnson
Sheridan native John William Johnson, 84, died Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, at his daughter's home in Austin, Texas. He will be interred next to his first wife in Powell, and services will be later. Weed Corley Fish Funeral Home in Austin is in charge of arrangements. Born Oct. 6, 1924, in Sheridan to Jay and Marguerite Rose Johnson, he graduated from Sheridan High School in 1942. He was a World War II veteran who served in the 273rd Infantry from 1943-1946. He graduated from the University of Wyoming, then obtained a master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Illinois. He spent his career with Shell Chemical Co. He was elected to the Woodbury Heights, N.J., School Board. He enjoyed his children and grandchildren and was happiest trout fishing in Wyoming. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dottie Larsen (1976); his second wife, Sylvia Byler; a daughter, Janis Johnson; a brother, Harry; and two sisters, Barbara Burkhardt and Anna Wyatt. Survivors include two children, D’Ann Johnson of Austin and Douglas Johnson of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two brothers, Charley Johnson of Las Vegas and George Johnson of Sheridan; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Hazel Cosco
Hazel Cosco, 88, of Sheridan died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, at Sheridan Memorial Hospital. Per her request, cremation has taken place and no services are planned. Orville M. ‘Spike’ Badget
Former Sheridan resident Orville Milton “Spike” Badget, 83, of Lovell died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, in Lovell. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, S.D., with burial at Hills of Rest Memorial Park, Sioux Falls. Visitation begins 5 p.m. Thursday at George Boom Funeral Home in Sioux Falls. A Masonic service begins at 7 p.m. Born April 30, 1925, in Sheridan to Orville Badget Sr. and Lula (Reed) Badget, he grew up and attended school in Sheridan, entered the U.S. Army in 1942, and served during World War II. He married
Ruth Bendixen on Sept. 24, 1955, in Luverne, Minn. The couple made their home in Sioux Falls. In 1966, they moved to St. Paul, Minn., where he was an iron worker. After retirement in 1987, the couple returned to Sioux Falls. He was preceded in death by his wife on Sept. 8, 1997, and by a son, Michael. Mr. Badget was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and John M. Bliss Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 628 in Sioux Falls. He was also a Mason with Trinity Lodge No. 200 and the Scottish Rite Bodies of Sioux Falls in addition to El Riad Shrine, where he was a longtime member of the Rickshaw Unit. He was proud of the 13 years he spent in the military and that his two sons followed in his footsteps. Survivors include two children, Ken Badget of Cowley and Sharon Eckhardt of Guernsey; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Donna Lynn Angell
Donna Lynn Angell, 40, of Sheridan, died Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, in her Sheridan home. Private family service will be later. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
Born July 13, 1968, in Los Angeles to Larry and Kathy (Erps) Kennedy, she came to Sheridan in 1975 and attended schools here. She moved to Norfolk, Va., and later to Everett, Wash., before returning to Sheridan in 2003 to be near her parents. She enjoyed reading and music and was the companion of Greg Hunter. Survivors include a son, Tommy of Camano Island, Wash.; a daughter, Angela of Wake Forest, N.C.; a brother, Steve of West Jordan, Utah; and one grandchild. Velma Marie ‘Sis’ Nolan
Velma Marie “Sis” Nolan, 63, of Casper, formerly of Dayton, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009, in Shepherd of the Valley Care Center in Casper. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Monday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home with Pastor Robert A. Logan officiating. Interment will be in Dayton Community cemetery. Born April 18, 1945, in Sheridan to Harry and Lois (Gardner) Jelly, she grew up and attended schools in Dayton. Shortly after high school, she moved to Alaska, where she resided for several years before moving to Green River, where she was a longtime resident before moving to Casper in 1998. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary and enjoyed playing bingo, working puzzles, dancing, and listening to music. Survivors include two sons, Troy Nolan of Bear River, Wyo., and Dale Thomas of Soldotna, Alaska; two daughters, Carrie Robbinson of Cordas Lake, Ariz., and Tammy Drake of Soldotna; two brothers, Dave Jelly and Bud Jelly, both of Dayton; and seven grandchildren.
Frank Rauzi
Frank Rauzi, 88, of Sheridan, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, in Sheridan Memorial Hospital. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Funeral liturgy is 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Name Catholic Church with the Rev. Ron Stolcis as celebrant. Interment will be in the Sheridan Municipal cemetery. Born Feb. 9, 1921, in Sheridan to Stephen and Theresa (Wegher) Rauzi, he grew up and attended schools in Sheridan including Taylor and Hill Schools. He graduated from Sheridan High School in 1939. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was discharged in 1945. He attended the University of Wyoming, where he received a bachelor's degree in 1951 and a master's degree in range management in 1953. After graduation, he worked for the Department of Agriculture at the University of Wyoming. He did field research in Wyoming, Montana and Colorado and published a number of articles in numerous professional papers and magazines. He retired in 1980 after 32 years of service and donated all his papers to Sheridan College. Mr. Rauzi enjoyed fishing, gardening, and reading. He was a benefactor of the Sheridan Senior Citizens Center, Sheridan Historical Museum, and Sheridan College Foundation with scholarships. He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. Survivors include a sister, Mary Pearce of Ranchester; two nephews; two great-nephews; and a great-great-niece. Memorials may benefit the Sheridan Senior Citizens Center or Sheridan College Foundation.
