Gordon Earl Vrooman
Gordon Earl Vrooman, 83, of Sheridan died June 21, 2008, at Sheridan VA Medical Center. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home with the Rev. Douglas Goodwin officiating. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Vrooman was born Sept. 14, 1924, in Eagle Butte, S.D., to Roy and Etta (Lindsay) Vrooman. He married
Inge Sophia Gollar in Cody. He farmed in Eagle Butte and was also a carpenter. An Army veteran who served three years in Korea, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife; one son, Alan Vrooman of Denver; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
William `Bill' Miller
Sheridan-native William "Bill" Miller, 78, died June 22, 2008, in Billings. Funeral services are 9 a.m. Thursday at First Christian Church in Sheridan with the Rev. Doug Goodwin officiating. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. with full military honors at Fort Meade Black Hills National cemetery. Born Aug. 27, 1929, in Sheridan to Victor and Gladys Miller, he graduated from Sheridan High School and attended Sheridan College for one year before enlisting in the Air Force in 1950. He served with the 93rd Bomb Wing until he was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant in 1954. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and was an avid golfer and fisherman. He married
Valerie E. Page on Oct. 18, 1952, in Ramsgate, Kent, England, and they raised four daughters in Sheridan. Miller is survived by his wife of Sheridan; four daughters, Susan Norskog-Jackson of Powell, Shelley Volz of Cheyenne, Lorraine Kobielusz of Sheridan, and Sally Pedersen of Rock Springs; eight grandchildren; one brother, Robert A. Miller of Casper; and one sister, Irma Salstrom of Sheridan. He was preceded in death by two sisters, three brothers, and one grandson. Floyd Joseph Reisch
Former Sheridan resident Floyd Joseph Reisch, 85, of Sutherland, Neb., died June 14, 2008, in Sutherland Care Center. Memorial services were Monday at Sutherland Presbyterian Church followed by military honors. Arrangements were with Adams & Swanson Funeral Home in Sutherland. Mr. Reisch was born July 22, 1922, in O'Neil, Neb., to John H. and Hazel D. Brown Reisch. The family moved to Wyoming when he was 7. He served in the United States Army with the last cavalry unit to use horses. He married
Pearl Whitford on July 11, 1944. He was vice president of First National Bank in Sheridan and later worked for Bank of the West. He retired from banking after 30 years and moved to Salt Lake City. He enjoyed sailing, barbecues, his children, and being a foster parent. He was a Green Bay Packers fan. He was preceded in death by his wife; a son, Junior; a daughter, Linda; and three brothers, Elmer, Jack, and Marvin. Survivors include two daughters, Sandy Kuhl of Phoenix and Tiffanie Christner of Sutherland; two sisters, Norma Leis of Sheridan and Lucile Shorten of Billings; and several grandchildren and great-grand children. Ruth Natalie Adam
Former longtime Sheridan resident Ruth Natalie Adam, 86, of Kansas City, Mo., died June 16, 2008, from natural causes at Bishop Spencer Place in Kansas City, according to her family. Memorial services (to be announced) will be at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Sheridan. Her ashes will be interred in the church's columbarium. Born Aug. 18, 1921, in St. Louis to Jacob M. and Dorothy (Fishgall) Feigenbaum, she attended MacMurry College in Jacksonville, Ill. She married
William L. Riley in 1942 in Sheridan. On May 25, 1974, she married
Charles L. Adam at St. Peter's Memorial Chapel in Sheridan. He died in 1989. Mrs. Adam was actively involved in St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Sheridan County Memorial Hospital, Sheridan-WYO Rodeo, and the Republican Party. A daughter, Dorothy, died in 1997. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Riley-Cheek, Prairie Village, Kan.; a brother, Robert Feigenbaum, Naples, Fla.; and a granddaughter.
Andrew `Andy' Kukuchka
Andrew `Andy' Kukuchka, 90, of Sheridan died June 16, 2008, at Sheridan Manor. A Christian wake service will be 7 p.m. Friday at Kane Funeral Home. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Kane Funeral Home, the Rev. Ron Stolcis officiating. Interment of cremains will be next to Mr. Kukuchka's wife in Sheridan Municipal cemetery. Born March 6, 1918, in Kooi to George and Anna Kukuchka, he attended school in Ranchester. He won the Montana-Wyoming Golden Gloves when he boxed in the late 1930s and '40s. He joined the Navy in 1943, serving until he was honorably discharged in 1944. He married
Grace Savage on Aug. 25, 1940. He is survived by two sisters, Helen Fagenbush of Sandy, Utah, and Margaret Melton of Sheridan; and one brother, Mike Kukuchka of Sheridan. He was preceded in death by his wife, four brothers and one sister. Floyd Joseph Reisch, 85, of Sutherland, Neb., died June 14, 2008, at Sutherland Care Center, according to his family. He was vice president of Wyoming Bank of the West in Sheridan and retired after 30 years of banking. Memorial services were Monday at Sutherland Presbyterian Church. Born on July 22, 1922, in O'Neil, Neb., to John and Hazel Brown Reisch, he moved with his family to Wyoming at age 7. He served in the U.S. Army with the last cavalry unit to use horses. He married
Pearl Whitford on July 11, 1944. He loved sailing, spending time with his children, and barbecuing. He was a foster parent and a Green Bay Packers fan. Survivors include two daughters, Sandy Kuhl of Phoenix and Tiffanie Christner of Sutherland; and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; a son, Junior; and a daughter, Linda. Adams and Swanson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Conrad `Connie' Yerger Jr.
Conrad `Connie' Yerger Jr., 83, died June 16, 2008, at Mountain View Nursing Home in Bozeman, Mont. He was a court reporter who opened a private court reporting office in Sheridan in the 1980s. A celebration of life will take place 10 a.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church in Bozeman. Interment will follow at 10 a.m. Saturday in Hardin, Mont. He was born Nov. 21, 1924, to Conrad and Katherine Yerger Sr. He was a veteran of World War II and member of the Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife, Lillian; a daughter, Marjorie Haines of Bozeman; two granddaughters; and a brother, Victor of Forsyth, Mont. He was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers. Ruben Orozco
Ruben Orozco, 58, of Gillette died June 13, 2008, at Westview Health Care Center in Sheridan. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated today at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Gillette with the Rev. Philip Vaske officiating. Born Dec. 23, 1949, to Ruben Garcia and Modesta Orozco in Chihuahua, Mexico, he moved to New Mexico at age 14. He married
Estella Lopez in Colorado on Jan. 8, 1974. He worked for Gane Production in Gillette as a foreman. Mr. Orozco was known as a practical joker who loved politics, fishing and camping. He was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Gillette. He is survived by his wife of Gillette; two sons, Ruben Junior Orozco and Michael Orozco, both of Gillette; a daughter, Jennifer Orozco Garwood of Sheridan; seven grandchildren; four brothers, Al, Manuel, Tito, and Luis; and five sisters, Socorro, Lupe, Rosa, Refugia, and Genevia. Loeva `Eve' Sawyer
Loeva Eve Sawyer, 83, a longtime Sheridan resident, died June 12, 2008, at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, according to her family. A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Peter's Episcopal Church. Born Aug. 13, 1924, to Jesse and Simon Adamson, she attended the University of Wyoming, where she met her husband of 40 years, Thomas Sawyer. They later moved to Sheridan. She returned to college in 1960 and earned a degree in library science. She worked at the Wyoming Girls School as a librarian for 12 years. She was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She is survived by four children, T.G., Mike, Dana Wyatt, and Randy; 10 grandchildren; and a sister, JoAnn. Florence L. Kulesha, 87, of Story died June 16, 2008, at Westview Health Care Center. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church with the Rev. Peggy A. Buckley
Peggy A. Buckley, 67, of Sheridan died June 12, 2008, at Sheridan Memorial Hospital. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Kane Funeral Home with the Rev. Kevin Jones officiating. She was born April 29, 1941, to Hardy an Maxine MacCatherine in Big Timber, Mont. She graduated from Sheridan High School in 1959. She was a self-employed housekeeper for 11 years and worked as a vet assistant for three years and as a receptionist/secretary for 22 years until she retired in 1992. She married
Ted Buckley on Dec. 23, 1961. She enjoyed reading, gardening and fishing. She is survived by two daughters, Shannon Hugs and Kelly Buckley; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard MacCatherine of Roundup, Mont.; and a sister, Patricia Cowgill of Guthrie, Okla. Robert H. Herden
Robert H. Herden, 72, of Douglas died June 11, 2008, at Douglas Care Center in Douglas. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Wyoming Memorial Garden cemetery in Casper with Pastor Dan Carlin of Word Christian Fellowship officiating. Born Oct. 20, 1935, in Worden, Mont., he was raised and educated in Sheridan graduating from Sheridan High School. He married
Betty Sue Lummus on Sept. 10, 1960. He belonged to the Elks Club and enjoyed playing cards, golf, watching his children participate in competitive swimming, and spending time on his computer. He is survived by his wife of Casper; three children, Jerry Herden of Randleman, N.C., and Scott Herden and Cathi Potter, both Casper; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Mary R. Naramore, 73, of Sheridan died June 11, 2008, at Sheridan Manor. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Mount Pisgah cemetery in Gillette with Kenna Rose officiating. She was born Aug. 6, 1934, in Neosho, Mo., to Loyd and Maudie (Queener) Burr. She married
Joe Naramore and they moved to Gillette in 1950. They also lived in Newcastle. They divorced in 1982 but reportedly remained close friends. Mrs. Naramore was a librarian for the Campbell County School District for several years before working at Dr. Dagnarello's office. Upon retirement she moved to Sheridan to be near her daughter. She was a member of PEO (Philanthropic Educational Organization). Survivors include a son, Rick Naramore of Denver; a daughter, Linda Estes of Sheridan; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Donald Gehrett. She worked as a bookkeeper for many businesses in the Buffalo-Casper area. She is survived by a son, Albert Rood Jr. of Colorado Springs, Colo.; her parents of Sheridan; a brother, Jack Adsit Jr. of Gillette; a sister, Janice Boen of Northville, Mich.; and four grandchildren.
