Nellie I. Brown
Nellie I. Brown, 97, of Sheridan died Jan. 3, 2008, in Sheridan Manor. Burial will be in Enid, Okla. Local arrangements are with Kane Funeral Home. Mrs. Brown was born Sept. 21, 1910, in Enid to Edward and Fannie Jones. She married
Hadley Herbert Brown on Sept. 30, 1933, in Enid. She was a clerk at the Sheridan J.C. Penney and Anthony's and a volunteer at the WYO Theater. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping and travel, and was a quilter. She entered her quilts in contests in the Washington state area. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Hadley L. Brown; and siblings Tom, Everett, Harry, Paul and Easter. Survivors include four children, Marcia Toepp, Lynne Happy, Terry Brown and Mary Childs; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Leonard Merle Norwood
Leonard Merle Norwood, 89, of Story died Jan. 4, 2008, at his residence. At his request, no services are planned. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. He was born Jan. 2, 1919, in Nebraska to Ernest and Hazel (Jacobson) Norwood. The family moved to Midwest when he was a child, and he attended schools there. He was a 1936 graduate of Midwest High School. He worked for Standard Oil and B.P. Amoco Oil in the Midwest oil fields until 1977, when he retired as an oil field foreman and moved to Story. He married
Emily Martines on July 15, 1938, in Valentine, Neb. She preceded him in death. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and raising horses. Survivors include two sons, Phillip of Blackfoot, Idaho, and Kevin of Story; a daughter, Linda Krout of Sheridan; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Story Volunteer Fire Department.
Joe C. Keaten
Joe C. Keaten, 85, of Sheridan died Jan. 5, 2008, in Westview Health Care Center. Cremation has taken place, and services are pending with Kane Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Big Horns, 1401 W. Fifth St., Sheridan, WY 82801.
Mary M. Herzog
Former Ucross resident Mary M. Herzog, 97, of Buffalo died Jan. 3, 2008, at her residence. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday in Willow Grove cemetery in Buffalo with Pastor Nancy Brooks officiating. Visitation will be 1-9 p.m. Sunday in Adams Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo. Mrs. Herzog was born July 28, 1910, in Dickinson, N.D., to Louis and Elizabeth Wehner Gresser. She attended school through eighth grade. Her family moved to Montana in the early 1920s. She married
Fred Herzog on June 17, 1929. Mr. Herzog worked on the Huntley Project, then the family moved to Ucross, where they leased the Works ranch until 1947, when they moved to Buffalo. Mrs. Herzog was a nurses aide in the Buffalo hospital for 15 years until retiring in 1972. She enjoyed gardening and reading. She hand-stitched quilts and made several quilts for her children. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1989, two daughters, a son and one granddaughter. Survivors include two sons, Robert of Buffalo and David of Henderson, Nev.; two daughters, Dorothy Kimble of Casper and June Andrus of Saratoga, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 23 great-great-grandchildren.
Marion Lucille Trode
Marion Lucille Trode, 89, of Mitchell, S.D., died Dec. 31, 2007, at her residence. She was mother of David Dee Trode of Sheridan. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at United Church of Christ in Mitchell with burial at Graceland cemetery. Mrs. Trode was born Sept. 25, 1918, in Loomis, S.D., to Charles and Bernice (Comstock) Clark. She moved to Mitchell in 1929. She attended elementary school in Loomis and Mitchell and was a 1937 graduate of Mitchell High School. She married
Varley Trode in October 1937. The family lived in Bremerton, Wash., from 1942-46, then returned to Mitchell, where Mrs. Trode worked for Jarold Shop, the Piggly Wiggly store and with her husband at Trode Sheetmetal Shop. She later worked as a dental assistant for 24 years. During that time she became a Certified Dental Assistant through a program at the University of Minnesota. She retired in 1981. She was a member of the South Dakota Dental Assistants Association, Congregational United Church of Christ and the Women's Fellowship. She served on the church Deaconate Board for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1998; a son, Ted; and a brother, Bill Clark. Survivors include a third son, Thomas Paul of Custer, S.D.; a brother, Rex Clark of Mitchell; a sister, Betty Koon of Red Lodge, Mont.; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and 11 step-great-grandchildren.
Roy Steele McClurg
Former Sheridan County resident Roy Steele McClurg, 80, of Anchorage, Alaska, died Dec. 29, 2007, in Anchorage after a year-long battle with cancer. He was born April 19, 1927, in Douglas. His family moved to the Buffalo/Sheridan area when he was a child, and he attended area schools, including Big Horn High School. While in high school, he falsified his age in order to join the Navy and serve during World War II. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to high school, graduated and attended trade school to begin a lifelong career in carpentry. He moved to Alaska in 1968 to build and remodel homes in the Anchorage area. His wife, Edith, and family joined him in 1970. For the next 30 years, he divided his time between homes in Story and Anchorage. Survivors include his wife and three children, Mike, Penny and Diane. Memorials have been established at Denali Alaskan Federal Credit Union in Anchorage and First National Bank in Buffalo.
Aubrey Paige Morel
Aubrey Paige Morel, daughter of Shane and Jacqui Morel of Sheridan, was stillborn Dec. 31, 2007, in Sheridan Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Kane Funeral Home with Claude Alley officiating.
Edna P. Maxted
Edna Phyllis Maxted, 81, Sheridan, died Dec. 27, 2007, in Dickinson, N.D. Services are 2 p.m. today at First Assembly of God Church, the Rev. John Jackson officiating, with burial in Sheridan Municipal cemetery. Born Sept. 1, 1926, in Lindsay, Calif., to Llewellyn and Leona (Love) Maxted, she moved at age 5 with her family to Mayfield, Kan., where she attended school. She worked for Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kan., during World War II and later moved to Van Nuys, Calif., where she was a telephone operator. She married
Allan Duane Maxted on Jan. 27, 1946, in Clearwater, Kan. They lived in Caldwell, Kan., and then Pratt, Kan., where she began her ministerial career with her husband. They ministered in Ulysses, Kan., and later in Walters, Okla., where she was ordained in 1964. They moved to Sheridan in 1965 and ministered at First Assembly of God until 1978. During that time, she also worked as a city meter maid. Mrs. Maxted also worked in special education at Hill School and then as a clerk in Woolworth and Chapek's Five and Dime store. The couple moved to Montana, where they ministered in the Knees community and in Fairfield. They returned in 1986 to Sheridan to minister in the Open Bible Church. Mrs. Maxted retired in 1993 and stayed active in various study groups. She belonged to the Sheridan Ministerial Association in addition to First Assembly of God. An accomplished musician who played accordion, piano, and organ, she also enjoyed singing, crochet, and collecting Precious Moments figurines and dolls. A brother, three sisters, and a son, Nathaniel, preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Melvin of Sheridan and the Rev. Warren Maxted of Beach, N.D.; a brother, Don Freeman of California; four sisters, Lorene Porter, Dorothy Keck, Margie Henry, and Leona Korenwinder, all of California; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
William Gordon 'B.G.' Wondra
William Gordon "B.G." Wondra, 49, of Sheridan died Feb. 25, 2008, in Sheridan Memorial Hospital. Cremation has taken place at his request, and private services will be later. Arrangements are with Kane Funeral Home. Mr. Wondra was born Aug. 5, 1958, to William and Alberta Wondra of Sheridan. A 1976 graduate of Tongue River High School, he enjoyed fishing, camping, exploring the mountains, and his dogs. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include two sisters, Linda Kinter and Penny Wondra, both of Sheridan; and a brother, Al Yalowizer of South Dakota. Nina L `Sally' Felde

Mrs. Felde died Feb. 25, 2008, in Sheridan Memorial Hospital. Cremation has taken place. She was born Sept. 17, 1925, in Humboldt, Kan., to Joseph Earl and Flossie Talley Martin. Robert Bob Adams; they were divorced. She married
Ken Morris, and they also were divorced. She married
Dave Felde in Sheridan. She was a nursing assistant at Sheridan VA Medical Center for 19 1/2 years until 1993, when she retired. She was a member of the BPO Does and Red Hat Society and volunteered at First Christian Church Thrift Store and Sheridan Senior Citizens Center. She enjoyed spending time with her family, camping, fishing, picnics, flowers, birds and crocheting. She was preceded in death by two brothers, LaVon Martin and W.C. Martin. Survivors include three daughters, Sandy Cooper of Richmond, Ky., Shirley Velos of Ranchester, and Judy Horsley of Sheridan; a son, Robert Adams of Grand Junction, Colo.; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Amil E. Livingston
Memorial services for Amil E. Livingston, 96, of Sheridan will be 9 a.m. Saturday at Cornerstone Community Church, the Rev. Kenneth Doolin officiating. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mr. Livingston died Feb. 26, 2008, in Sheridan Memorial Hospital. He was born Oct. 4, 1911, in Sheridan to Edward G. and Alpha Marie (Somerville) Livingston. He spent his early childhood on a homestead in the Powder River Breaks. The family moved to Newcastle in 1923, where his father worked as a railroad engineer at the Cambria coal mine. The family returned to Sheridan in 1926. Mr. Livingston married
Loraine Browne on June 21, 1937, in Thermopolis. The Livingstons bought the Big Horn Avenue Grocery in Sheridan, then in 1941, Mr. Livingston bought the Sheridan Wrecking Yard. He later expanded his holdings to include Central News Stand, Champion Auto, Sheridan Sand & Gravel and Ready Mix, T&S Tire, and Sheridan Auto & Truck. He also operated the Gasamat Station and Car Wash. He was a founder of Camp Bethel and Calvary Baptist Church. He enjoyed the outdoors, spending time at his cabin in the mountains, hunting and fishing. He was a hunting guide for many years. He was preceded in death by his wife in 2003; a son, Ed, in 2006; a sister, Naomi; a brother, Elwood; and a granddaughter. Survivors include two daughters, Hazel Richards and Louise Knievel, both of Sheridan; a son, Jack of Sheridan; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Dean Patrick Iannelli
BUFFALO - Dean Patrick Iannelli, 45, of Buffalo died Feb. 24, 2008, in Douglas. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Adams Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tom Saur officiating. Visitation will be 1-9 p.m. Friday and 8:30-9:30 a.m. Saturday in the chapel. Burial will be in Willow Grove cemetery with military graveside honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. Roy Thompson in 1945 in Olathe, Kan. She belonged to St. Peter's Episcopal Church and BPOE Does. She enjoyed camping, crossword puzzles, and horseback riding and loved all animals. A sister, Velma Babe Brandt, preceded her in death. Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews. Jerry Rhea Shatzer
Memorial services for Sheridan native Jerry Rhea Shatzer, 71, of Gillette will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Family Life Church with Pastor Bill Morel officiating. Arrangements are with Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home of Gillette. Mr. Shatzer died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, at his home of natural causes. He was born Jan. 25, 1937, to Richard C. and Evalyce Peg (Rhea) Shatzer in Sheridan. He grew up in Ranchester and was a 1955 graduate of Tongue River High School. He played basketball for the TRHS Eagles. He worked as a ranch hand for Padlock Ranch, then served in the military in Korea from 1958 until 1959, when he was honorably discharged. He received his bachelor's degree in 1963 from the University of Wyoming. During his summers in college, he worked in construction. After graduating, he attended flight school in Prescott, Idaho, and received his pilot's license. He worked for Fulkerson Aviation as a flight instructor and charter pilot. He married
Marian Stevens on Nov. 11, 1969. In August 1970, he became unable to fly because of diabetes. He went to work for Stockmen's Bank then, in 1975, went to work in the county assessor's office. He was elected county assessor in 1976 and served in that post for 30 years, until December 2006, when he retired. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and hunting. In fall 2007, he killed a six-point bull elk during a hunt in Northern Wyoming with his son. He was preceded in death by a brother, Duster. Survivors include a son, Curt of Gillette; a daughter, Paula Williams of Sundance; his mother, Peg Hoffman of Billings; and two grandchildren. Memorials may be made to a trust that will be established to benefit his grandchildren's education.
Norman O. `Bud' Schnorf
Funeral services for former Sheridan resident Norman O. `Bud' Schnorf, 87, of Casper were 10 a.m. Thursday at Bustard's Funeral Home in Casper. Mr. Schnorf died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008, at his residence. He was born Feb. 26, 1920, in Grand Island, Neb., to Goin and Alice Schnorf. The family later moved to Sheridan, where Mr. Schnorf graduated from Sheridan High School. After graduation, he joined the military. He served during World War II in Normandy, Northern France. He was awarded the Bronze Star. After the military, he returned to Sheridan and worked as a Carpenter until moving to Casper to work for Standard Oil Refinery. He retired from that job after 34 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Tracy, and three sisters. Survivors include two sons, George of Sheridan and Andrew of Glenrock; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Conrad A. McEdward
Conrad A. McEdward, 77, of Sheridan died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, in Sheridan Memorial Hospital. Cremation has taken place, and no services are planned at this time. Arrangements are with Kane Funeral Home. Mr. McEdward was born March 3, 1930, in North Hollywood, Calif., to Nelson and Muriel McEdward. He joined the Air Force in 1948 and served until 1952, when he was honorably discharged. He married
Mary Ann Lamb on Sept. 21, 1958, in San Diego. She preceded him in death. He enjoyed woodworking, reading, crafts, water skiing, swimming and the outdoors. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Brad Richard Guyer. Survivors include his children, Penny Church of Burbank, Calif., David Guyer of Grants Pass, Ore., Susan McEdward of Lakeport, Calif., and William McEdward of Sheridan; a sister, Willmarie Rosaci of Las Vegas; a brother, John Gaines; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Jeanie C. Shipley
Memorial services for Jeanie C. Shipley, 77, of Sheridan are planned for a later date under direction of Kane Funeral Home. Mrs. Shipley died Feb. 17, 2008, in Westview Health Care Center. She was born April 3, 1930, in Tacoma, Wash., to Donald and Leona Reid. She attended schools in Tacoma and later moved to Billings. She married
Ray Shipley in 1976 in Billings. They lived in Ranchester 11 years before moving to Sheridan. She enjoyed the company of her cat, Boots, crocheting and reading. Survivors include her husband of Sheridan; and a sister, Wyona Morgan of Washington.
