Frank Karel Halamka
AUGUST 17, 1941 - JANUARY 26, 2005
Frank Karél Halamka, 63, of Madison, Wis., passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005, at his home.
He was born Aug. 17, 1941, to Mary R. (Cimino) and Charles J. Halamka. From 1961-1970 he was married
to Watrina Watson. In 1980 he married
Marcia (Skinrood) Doeringsfeld.
His life was a tribute to the music he loved and the students he taught.
Halamka is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Marcia.
He is survived by his son, Franklyn (Lisa) Halamka of Lewisville, Texas; a daughter, Triana (David) Burrill of Torrington; a son, Endre (Jean) Doeringsfeld of Madison; four grandchildren; a half-sister, Christine (Charles) Kudija of Valencia, Calif.; and fiancé, Kimberley Nightingale of Chicago.
A memorial service will be held at Bethany United Methodist Church at 1 p.m. on Feb. 19.
A memorial fund has been established in Halamka's name to aide students in their musical journey.
Roy Harold Woodward
DECEMBER 29, 1922 - FEBRUARY 11, 2005
Memorial services for Roy Harold Woodward will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 17, at the Haskell Funeral Home in Lovell, with Rev. Catherine A. Moorehead officiating.
Woodward was born Dec. 29, 1922, in the same house as his mother on the family farm near Moravia, Iowa. He was the son of Harry F. Woodward and Pearl J. Woodward (Funkhouser). He attended grade school and high school in Moravia and York Teacher College in York, Neb., for three years.
He served in the Army during World War II, fighting in the Battle of the Bulge. He moved to Torrington after the war and married
Betty Lou Oberg on May 25, 1946.
He worked at various jobs until May 7, 1959 at which time he became a Wyoming Highway Patrolman. He served for 25 years, being stationed in Rock Springs, Laramie, Lovell, Casper and finally in Torrington where he retired on May 7, 1984.
He was an active member of the First Wyoming United Presbyterian Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Torrington.
Woodward was an avid fisherman and greatly enjoyed fishing from his boat in various lakes around Wyoming, particularly in the Pinedale area. He was deeply saddened when he contracted Parkinson's disease and had to quit fishing and sell the boat.
In 1999 he and Betty decided to move to Lovell to be closer to family. He lived there until his death.
Woodward is survived by his wife Betty; his four sons, Dennis C. Woodward (Cheri) of Cowley, Randy J. Woodward (Renee) of Casper, Patrick L. Woodward (Terry) of Kandren, Germany, and Jeffrey L. Woodward (Sheri) of Cameron Park Calif.; two brothers, Ronald Woodward of Moravia, Iowa, and Clair Woodward of Waitsville, Wash.; one sister, Ella Joan Robb of Moravia, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
His parents and a nephew preceded him in death.
Cremation has taken place. A graveside service and burial in the Torrington cemetery will take place at a later date.
The family is asking that anyone who is willing to please donate to the cure for Parkinson's disease.
Verna A. Campbell
SEPTEMBER 11, 1925 - FEBRUARY 19, 2005
Funeral services for Verna A. Campbell, 79, will be held on Thursday, Feb. 24, at 2 p.m. at Colyer Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Harold Park officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview cemetery in Scottsbluff, Neb.
Campbell died on Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005, at the Village in Scottsbluff.
Visitation hours will be held at Colyer Funeral Home on Wednesday until 7 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. until noon. The casket will be closed at the service.
She was born on Sept. 11, 1925, in LaSalle, Colo., the daughter of Walter and Ellen (Swanson) Davis. She moved with her family to Lyman, Neb., where she grew up and attended school, graduating from Lyman High School. After finishing high school she went on to Alliance, Neb., where she attended nurses training.
Verna married
Sidney Campbell in Gering, Neb., on Dec. 27, 1945. The couple then went into the grocery business in Lyman. They moved to Hemingford, Neb., where they operated a grocery store for four years. The couple moved to Alaska where they resided for a year before moving to Rapid City, S.D., where they spent five years.
Campbell attended the National School of Business in Rapid City. The couple moved to Lingle in 1964 and bought the Hi-Way Market, which they ran until their retirement in 1995.
She was an accomplished artist who enjoyed painting, sewing and needlepoint. She was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church in Lingle. Her greatest calling was to be an outstanding grandmother.
She is survived by her son, Wilson Campbell, and his companion Michael Jung, both of Fairfield, Conn.; a daughter, Kelley Allen of Mitchell, Neb.; a brother, Jack Davis and his wife Eleanor of Torrington; two sisters, Patty Walters and Sarah Hedgecock, both of Orange, Calif.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sidney; a son, Zane; a grandson, David Allen; and a brother, Jim Davis.
Those who wish may direct memorial contributions in her memory to Prairie Haven Hospice.

Jack York
FEBRUARY 25, 1926 - FEBRUARY 17, 2005
Funeral services for Jack S. York, 78, were held Tuesday, Feb. 22, at Colyer Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at 3 p.m. in Greeley, Colo., at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation was held Monday at Colyer Funeral Home.
York died at his home on Thursday evening, Feb. 17, 2005.
He was born on Feb. 25, 1926, in Parks, Neb., the son of James and Hattie (Smith) York. He grew up and received his schooling in Milliken, Colo., graduating in 1944. He then went to work for Great Western Sugar Co. in Johnstown, Colo.
He married
Joyce Helen Benedict, and she gave birth to their daughter, Patricia Joyce. Both died in 1948.
York then served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. On Aug. 7, 1953, he married
Mary Ellen Fields in Johnstown, Colo. In 1964, the couple moved to Hereford, Texas, where Jack went to work for Holly Sugar Corporation. They then moved to Delta, Colo., in 1976 with Holly Sugar, and then in 1977 they moved to Torrington, where he continued to work for Holly Sugar until 1988, when he retired due to ill health.
He enjoyed watching his great-grandchildren, Michaella and Kayce, compete in Junior Rodeo events. He was a member of First Wyoming United Presbyterian Church, the American Legion in Torrington and the American Legion in Johnstown, Colo., where he served as commander.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, of Torrington; a daughter, Diana (Jerry) Smith of Torrington; four brothers, James of Encampment, John. W. (Verla) of Lakewood, Colo., Robert (Wendy) of Greeley, Colo., and Dan (Pat) of Milliken, Colo.; three sisters, Lorraine Keenan of Cheyenne, Jane (Richard) Mann of Milliken, Colo., and Carol (David) Korshavn of Moreno Valley, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Faye York of Milliken, Colo.; six grandchildren, Terri (Randall) Lay and their children Michaella, Kayce and Jesse, Heath Moore and his children Autumn and Colter, Randale (Kalli) and their daughter Jillian, Mary Beth York, Sarah Moore and Dustin Moore; two step-granddaughters, Sheila Foos of Huntley and Amanda Dykes of Mitchell, Neb.; and three step-great-granddaughters, Sydney and Whitney Foos and McKinley Dykes.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, David in 1984; and one brother, Richard.

John H. Donbraska
SEPTEMBER 5, 1911 - FEBRUARY 18, 2005
Funeral services for John H. Donbraska, Sr., age 82, were held on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005 at 9:30 a.m. at St Rose Catholic Church with Deacon Rollie Raboin officiating. A rosary was held at the Colyer Funeral Home on Tuesday at 7 p.m. He died on Feb. 18, 2005 at the Community Hospital in Torrington. Visitation hours were held on Monday from 12 p.m. until 5 p.m. and Tuesday from 12 p.m. until 6 p.m. Those who wish may direct memorial contributions in his memory to the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home.
He was born on Sept. 5, 1922 in Helena, Mont. the son of Joseph and Minnie (Purcell) Donbraska. He moved with his family at a young age to Yoder, Wyoming where he grew up and attended school. John joined the Navy following school and began traveling the world. He was assigned to the Merchant Marines and served in many campaigns during World War II serving mainly in the Pacific Theatre. John was proud of the time that he served during the war. When he was discharged he returned to Wyoming where he farmed for a short time before moving to Igloo, S.D.
He began a job with the civil service and resided in Igloo until he was transferred to Ellsworth Air Force Base in Rapid City, S.D until 1964. John retired in 1972 when he moved to Mobridge, S.D. where he lived until 1979. He moved back to Torrington and spent part of his time driving beet truck. John married
Antonie Zavorka on June 14, 1989. He enjoyed working on projects of all sorts from yard work to small engine. He was a great handyman. He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, AARP and the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife Antonie of Torrington; two sons John Donbraska, Jr. and his wife Debra of Aberdeen, S.D.; Vernon Donbraska and his wife Sabrina of Newell, S.D.; a sister Gertrude Stevensen of Scottsbluff, Neb.; seven step-children and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers and sisters.
Lora Mae Haas
JANUARY 30, 1924 - FEBRUARY 20, 2005
Memorial services for Lora Mae Haas, 81, will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, February 23, 2005 at the First Wyoming United Presbyterian Church with Reverend Tom Kittleman and Pastor Don Mathis officiating. Private family burial will take place at a later date. Lora Mae died on Sunday, Feb. 20 at Community Hospital in Torrington. Cremation has taken place.
Memorials have been established to the South Goshen Presbyterian Church, the Special Touch Program at Community Hospital, or the Goshen County 4-H foundation. Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home.
She was born Jan. 30, 1924 in Cheyenne, the daughter of Benjamin and Gladys (Eichenor) McIntosh and she grew up and received most of her education there. She later graduated Greeley High School in Greeley, Colo. and went on to attend Greeley College. After college she went to work at the County Extension Office in Cheyenne where she met Hubert Haas. Lora Mae and Hubert were married
June 14, 1943 in Denver.
They lived for a short time in Cheyenne before moving to the Haas family farm in Veteran later in 1943. Lora Mae became very involved in the Veteran community. She worked campaigns at Holly Sugar for many years and later worked several more years as a full-time employee there. Hubert preceded her in death in 1998 and she moved into Evergreen Court in May of 2001.
She was a member of the Christmas club, Goshen county Cattlewomen, the American Legion Auxiliary in Veteran, the South Goshen Presbyterian Church, and she volunteered for many years at the Goshen Care Center.
Lora Mae is survived by four daughters, Marilyn Herring and her husband Pat, Jackie Nickel and her husband Kevin all of Veteran; Carolyn Ward of LaGrange and Sherry Espeland and her husband Dan of Douglas; three sons, George Haas, Bill Haas and his wife Dana all of Veteran; and Ken Haas and his wife Heather of LaGrange; two sisters, Arlene Tucker of Stockton, Calif., and Marilyn Vaughn of Albuquerque, N.M.; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Harold and Walter, one sister, Jeannie, and one son-in-law, Bill Ward.
Leroy Carl Sokol
JULY 26, 1949 - FEBRUARY 24, 2005
Memorial services will be held at a later date for Leroy Carl Sokol, 55, who passed away at his home in Torrington on Feb. 24, 2005. He was born on July 26, 1949, in Scottsbluff, Neb., the son of John and Mary (Froshiesar) Sokol. The family lived in Lyman, Neb. Leroy entered the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War. He was discharged on April 7, 1972, as a disabled veteran. While in the army he received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. Leroy is survived by a son, a daughter and an aunt and uncle, Carl and JoAnn Froshiesar; and his best friend, Felix Melchor. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Donald 'Don' Allbaugh
MAY 21, 1935 - MARCH 20, 2005
Donald 'Don' E. Allbaugh, 69, of Gering, Neb., died Sunday, March 20, 2005, at Regional West Medical Center surrounded by his family. A funeral service was held Thursday, March 24, at the Gering Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Mead officiating. Interment was in West Lawn cemetery with military honors.
A former resident of Goshen County, Don was born on May 21, 1935, in Wheatland, the son of Robert L. and Marjorie (McCarty) Allbaugh. His family moved in 1945 to Scottsbluff, Neb., where he received his education. He served in the U.S. Army at the end of the Korean Conflict.
He was united in marriage to I. LaVern Shaw on Nov. 2, 1957, making their home in Gering, Neb.
Don began his work in the electrical field at United Telephone Co. during which time he completed on-the-job-training. He worked for Nebraska Public Power Co. for many years; he also did electrical construction throughout the area. He ended his working years with the city of Gering Electrical Department, becoming a journeyman lineman. Don retired in May of 2000.
He was a member of the Gering Volunteer Fire Department for 10 years, serving in various offices including president from 1973-1974. He was also a member of the American Legion for many years. After retiring, Don volunteered occasionally at the Farm & Ranch Museum. He was a member of the Gering Baptist Church.
Don was very patriotic; he loved his country and was proud to fly the flag. He loved to be outdoors, working in the yard, feeding the birds, taking walks with his little dog 'Buddy' and traveling with LaVern when his health permitted. He also became the chauffeur for any grandchild calling in need of a ride.
Don is survived by his wife, LaVern; two daughters, Linda and husband Greg Focken of Grand Island, Neb., and Wendy Rexus of Gering, Neb.; three sons, Don and Carey Allbaugh, Mike and Mechelle Allbaugh, and Bill Allbaugh, all of Gering; two special friends, Gwen Franke of Scottsbluff and Scott Rexus of Gering; a brother, Robert and wife Judy Allbaugh of Gering; a sister, Shirley and husband Dick Sample of Scottsbluff; and 12 wonderful grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials may be given to the Gering Baptist Church or to a charity of your choice.
Elsie Nichols
OCTOBER 20, 1916 - MARCH 17, 2005
Elsie F. Nichols, formerly of Scottsbluff, Neb., died March 17, 2005, in a Reno, Nev., nursing home. Services are pending and will be private.
Elsie was born in Bingham, Neb., on Oct. 20, 1916, to Cordelia and Claude Fleming. She grew up and attended school in Marsland, Neb. Elsie and Lyle Nichols were married
in 1933. They moved to Scottsbluff in 1934, and with other family members began an automobile repair business that eventually became the Bee Line Service. Elsie moved to California in 1978, eventually settling in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in northern California, where she remained until shortly before her death.
Her sister, Bernice Gregg of Fort Laramie; a daughter, Lois Sindelar and husband Jim of Buffalo, Texas; a son, Norman and wife Pat of Graeage, Calif.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews survive her.
Elsie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lyle; a son, Neil; and a brother, Lloyd Fleming.
Jolliffee Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements.
John Hill
NOVEMBER 24, 1928 - MARCH 25, 2005
John Allen Hill was born in Wheatland on Nov. 24, 1928, and died on March 25, 2005, in Denver. Cremation has already taken place, and at his request his remains were placed at Fort Logan National cemetery in Denver.
He started school in Wheatland then attended school in Fort Laramie before returning to Wheatland to graduate from Wheatland High School in 1946. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force for a time during World War II and the Korean conflict.
He then went to art school in Denver, and after graduating he worked in California as a commercial artist until he went to work for Burlington Railroad. He then transferred to Denver and worked as a clerk until he was transferred to the St. Paul, Minn., area. He was there until his retirement, after which he returned to Denver and resided there until his death.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Ruth Baker, Edith Reynolds and Mary Anderson; and one brother, Frank.
He is survived by two brothers, Bill and wife Willa Mae of Torrington, and Bob and wife Irma of Glenrock; one brother-in-law, Keith Anderson of Cora; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial of your choice may be given in John's name.
Frank Albaugh
OCTOBER 16, 1933 - MARCH 29, 2005
Frank C. Albaugh, 69, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2005, in the presence of his family after a brief battle with cancer.
He was born Oct. 16, 1935, in Hazelton, N.D., to Glen and Amy Albaugh. Frank loved camping and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Albaugh of Cheyenne; three sons, Dave Albaugh of Cheyenne, Pete Gonzales of Birmingham, Ala., and John Albaugh of Glenrock; a daughter, Traci Kuester of Tooele, Utah; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and brothers, Kenneth Albaugh and George Albaugh of Toppenish, Wash., Bob Albaugh of Thompson, N.D., and Art Albaugh of Torrington.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; five sisters; one son, Frank Glen Albaugh; and one granddaughter, Stephani Jean Gonzales.
A private family memorial service was held at his home for his family members.
Hilda Ruth Shupp
NOVEMBER 20, 1920 - APRIL 11, 2005Funeral services for Hilda Ruth Shupp, 84, will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2005 at First Wyoming Presbyterian Church with Pastor Gary Flom officiating. Burial will follow in Valley View cemetery. The casket will be closed.
Hilda died Monday, April 11, 2005, at Community Hospital in Torrington.
She was born Nov. 20, 1920, in Montrose, Colo., the daughter of George Sr. and Katherine (Beitniz) Bohl. She attended school in Lovell and Wheatland. Hilda married
Kenneth Shupp on Dec. 10, 1944, in Wheatland. They lived for short times in Sault St. Marie, Mich., Hanna and Cheyenne. She worked for Park Davis Pharmacy while in Michigan, and for Montgomery Ward in Cheyenne. They lived in Laramie, where she worked in the high school cafeteria for three years. They moved to Torrington in 1967, where they owned and operated Roy's Cold Storage until 1983, when they retired.
She enjoyed gardening, especially flowers, cooking, canning, baking and crocheting.
She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and First Wyoming United Presbyterian Church, where she was involved in the Lady's Circle.
Hilda is survived by her husband, Kenneth of Torrington; two sons, James Shupp of Dubois and Charles Shupp of Cordova, Alaska; two brothers, Arthur Bohl of Wheatland and John Bohl of Paradise, Calif.; two sisters, Hattie Burzlaff of Torrington and Mary Farrara of Westminster, Colo.; and two grandchildren, Alena and Kacey Shupp, both of Seattle, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Donald; four sisters, Anna Stugart, Molly Goetz, Frieda Chase and Helen Dower; and two brothers, Kenneth Bohl and George Bohl Jr.
A memorial has been established to the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Colyer Funeral Home.
