Ray Brookhouser
Ray Brookhouser, 67, died in Cody on Oct. 5, 2001.
He was born Sept. 20, 1934, to Rose and Ralph Brookhouser. Ray was raised on the family farm in Knox County, Neb.
After graduation he served in the Army for three years and later served in the National Guard. He retired after 21 years of service.
He worked for Gambles for 21 years before retiring in 1983.

Thelma Fink after moving to Cody in 1996.
He spent the last four years working at Olive Glenn Golf and Country Club. He was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church.
Ray had child-like faith, telling everyone about his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, mother Rose of Creighton, Neb., son Jeff (Janelle) Brookhouser of Farmington, N.M., daughter Penny (Jeff) Folloder of Houston, Texas, granddaughters Ashleigh and Zoe, sisters Lorrene (Jim) Border of Venice, Fla., Leanore Bartos of Verdigre, Neb., Donna (Marlin) Tusha of Yankton, S.D., and Anita EnEarl of Montgomery Village, Md., brother Larry Brookhouser of Orchard, Neb., step-children Jeff, Mike, Dan and Jerry Fink and Cindy Blough, step-grandchildren Sarah, Trey, Taylor, Tessa, Jenna, Aaron, Ryan and Christopher.
He was preceded in death by his father Ralph in 1989.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Spirit Mountain Hospice. Services to celebrate Ray's life will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, at Christ the King Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
Jo Frederickson
Jo Frederickson, 74, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001, at West Park Hospital.
Jo was born Jan. 24, 1927, in Fresno Calif., the daughter of Valentin and Fernanda Hernandez Solis. She attended schools in Fresno, and Merced Falls and graduated from high school in Clovis, Calif. She then attended and graduated from Fresno Junior College.

John R. Frederickson in Las Vegas. They lived in Long Beach and Upland, Calif., before moving to Cody in 1991.
During her working years, Jo worked for the California Fish & Game Department, as secretary for the chancellor of the state college in Fresno, and retired after 10 years of service at General Telephone in West Lake, Calif. She was named an honorary colonel in the Marine Raiders for the work and time she gave them.
She was a member of the NRA and was active in recruiting members. After moving to Cody, Jo became a volunteer at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center and remained involved until ill health forced her to stop.
Jo will be remembered as always volunteering to help others.
Survivors include her husband John R. "Jack" Frederickson, brother Edward Solis of Las Vegas, and a sister Angelita Guenther of Bakersfield, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Jessie Ruiz.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, at Christ the King Lutheran Church with Pastor Timothy Klug officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
Charles Pyle
Charles Pyle, 85, died Oct. 11, 2001, at the West Park Long Term Care Center.
He was born in Alliance, Neb., on Oct. 16, 1915, to Charles Elmer and Lyda Ethel Pyle where he was raised and attended school.
Mr. Pyle enlisted in the Navy in 1936 and spent eight years on duty in the South Pacific during World War II.

Jessie Fry of Alliance in 1943. Returning home after the war in 1945, he went to work at Holsten's Drug and Jewelry store as a watchmaker.
Moving to Cody in 1953, he and Jessie purchased Evans Jewelry store and operated it under the same name for 25 years. In 1980 they purchased the building at 1213 Sheridan Ave., moved the store to that location and renamed it Cody Jewelers.
Mr. Pyle was honored to be asked to serve as the first Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Alliance after World War II, and also served as president of the Junior Chamber of Commerce in Alliance.
In Cody he was an active member of the chamber of commerce, president of Rotary Club in 1963, and a member of the American Legion, Elks Lodge, Eagles Lodge, Lions Club and United Methodist Church.
Mr. Pyle loved fishing, hunting, golf, tap dancing and especially enjoyed time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Jessie, son Jerry (Susan) of Basin, son Robert (Pamela) of Cody, grandchildren Christopher Pyle of Cheyenne, Barbara Renauld of Monroe, Iowa, Charles Pyle of Cheyenne, Frank Pyle of Logan, Utah, Daniel Pyle of Billings, Jeffrey Pyle of Logan, Rachel Pyle of Logan, six great-grandchildren, sister Roberta Bradney of Sacramento, Calif., brothers Kenneth Pyle of Earp, Calif., and Keith Pyle of Oakland, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one great-grandson.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be in his family's heart forever.
Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family memorial will be held later.
The family requests donations in Mr. Pyle's memory to the Big Horn Basin Cancer Treatment Center, 1025 Ninth St., Cody.
Betty J. Schoening
Betty J. Schoening, 71, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, at her home in Cody.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at Grace Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Baptist Church Bible and music fund.
Julia Preator Michaels
Julia Preator Michaels, 83, of Burlington died Sept. 2, 2001, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born Sept. 26, 1917, to Eugene and Gladys Eyre Preator in Cowley. She married

Glen W. Michaels on Oct. 26, 1936.
Julia was a devoted wife and mother who also worked a short while at a newspaper and for the Navy making ammunition during World War II. She worked on the ranch in Burlington with her husband, raising their four children.
Julia was active in gardening, completed a four-year accounting degree and served 35 years as a 4-H leader. She was well known for her selfless devotion to the care of others.
She is survived by her children Virjean Call of Webster, Minn., Richard Michaels of Cody, Adele Michaels of Salt Lake City and Calvin Michaels of Burlington, 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, sisters Elva Chantrill of Burlington, Donna Teeples of Buffalo and brother Arlan Preator of Burlington.
Julia was preceded in death by her husband and brothers Lazell, Eyre and Stanley Preator.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Spirit Mountain Hospice at West Park Hospital.
Arliss McNiven 'Mac' Sizemore
Arliss McNiven "Mac" Sizemore, 34, died Friday, Aug. 31, 2001, in Cody.
Mac was born Sept. 16, 1966, in Cody, the son of Arliss Orlen and June (Williams) Sizemore.
He attended Cody schools and graduated from Cody High School. Mac served in the Marine Corps.

Lisa Brewer in November 1991 in Hudson. The couple later divorced.
Mac enjoyed auctioneering, animals and crafting halters and lead ropes. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing, horse training and rodeo. He loved spending time with his nieces and nephews and meeting new people and socializing. The greatest pride in his life were his daughters Montana, 10, and Lyndsey, 5.
He is survived by daughters Montana and Lyndsey of Virginia, his mother June Sizemore of Cody, brothers Perry of Cody, Orlen of Frances, Utah, Levi of Tremonton, Utah, and Victor of Cody, sister Pamela Long of Hudson, eight nieces, seven nephews, three great-nieces and one great-nephew and numerous aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his father.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Cody Stake Center.
Leslie E. Schmidt Sr.
Leslie E. Schmidt Sr., 84, died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001, at Powell Nursing Home.
He was born Aug. 14, 1917, in Rush Center, Kan. Leslie married

Artina Kraft on March 21, 1936, in Garden City, Kan.
Leslie and Artina lived, farmed and ranched in Wyoming for many years. He later worked as a heavy equipment mechanic until his retirement. The couple lived in Fromberg, Mont., for a number of years before moving to Beehive Homes in Powell following his wife's death at Powell Nursing Home. Mrs. Schmidt died 20, 2000, in Powell.
Leslie was a member of the Lutheran church.
Survivors include son Leslie E. Schmidt of Cody, daughters Myra Riley of Powell and Cathy Rankin of Superior, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter Joan Ellison and one granddaughter.
A graveside memorial service was held Sept. 5 at Riverside Cemetery.
Ethelyn P. Farber
Ethelyn P. Farber, 91, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2001, at Powell Hospital.
She was born Jan. 8, 1910, in Gem, Kan.
Ethelyn grew up and attended school in the Hoxie, Kan., area. She married

John. E. Farber on June 13, 1927, in Hoxie. She was a service representative for AT&T.
Ethelyn loved to bowl and play golf. She and her husband were members of the golf course in Cheyenne, where they lived for many years. The couple moved to Cody in 1992.
Survivors include daughter Kay (Gene) Kaleshefski of Cody, grandson Joel (Jeri) Farber of Laramie, granddaughter Sydney (Eddy) Maillot of Fallon, Nev., great-grandchildren Benjamin and Jacob and sister Vesta Collins of Cheyenne.
She was preceded in death by her husband John in October 1993, son John P. Farber and her parents.
Cremation has taken place and a private family gathering will be held later.
Alan J. Ball
Alan J. Ball, 48, died of cancer Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001, at West Park Hospital.
Alan was born Nov. 13, 1952, in Powell, the son of Glenn Amen and Beverly Ann (Decker) Ball.
He grew up in Cody, attended schools here and graduated from Cody High School. He married

Sharon Stewart on Sept. 11, 1971, in Powell.
Alan was employed by Husky Oil Co. until Husky left Cody in 1982. At that time, Alan began working for the Park County Sheriff's Office, later becoming Jail Administrator.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially in the Crandall area. He also enjoyed snowmobiling and watching his children play sports. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge, Elks Lodge and Wyoming Peace Officers Association.
Survivors include his wife Sharon of Cody, children Travis of Cody, Nikole of Salem, Ore., and Chad of Cody, his mother Bev of Cody and brother Jeffrey J. (Marina) Ball of Fairbanks, Alaska.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at Ballard Funeral Home.
