John William Emmett Sr.
John William Emmett Sr., 73, of Chadron, Neb., died June 25, 2001, in a weather-related accident at his brother's home in Deaver.
He was born July 18, 1927, to Warren and Nellie (McLemore) Emmett at the family ranch in Park County.
John was a member of Immanual Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife Carol Emmett of Chadron, sons John (Cathy) Emmett Jr. of Chadron, daughter Linda (Gil) Nitsch of Chadron, brothers Ned Emmett of Tacoma, Wash., Clarence Emmett of Deaver, Charles (Lois) Emmett of Glendive, Mont., Jerry (Ev) Emmett of Billings, sisters Betty (Terry) Todd of Cody, 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Warren, Ray, Robert and one unnamed infant brother.
Services were June 30 and burial followed at Greenwood in Chadron. Memorials in his name may be made to Chadron Community Dialysis Clinic or Multiple Sclerosis, care of Chamberlain Chapel, P.O. Box 970, Chadron, Neb., 69337.
Johnnie Grant O'Mara
Johnnie Grant O'Mara, 62, died Tuesday, June 26, 2001, at West Park Hospital.
He was born July 7, 1938, in Cody, the son of William Fredrick and Johnnie Alene (Marler) O'Mara.
Johnnie grew up in Cody and attended schools here. He entered the service in 1956. While enlisted, he was trained in electronics and served as an airplane radio technician. Following his discharge, Johnnie worked for IBM for 12 years. He moved to Denver for training and then to Seattle, Wash., where he worked for Boeing for 15 years. He returned to Cody two years ago. Johnnie was a member of the American Legion in Everett, Wash.
He is survived by children Erin, Kerry and K.C. "Keith," all of Everett, Wash., and Eddy and Jeannie, both of Seattle, and brothers Jim O'Mara of Seattle, and Bruce O'Mara and Larry O'Mara, both of Cody.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and no services are planned.
Harvey Willis Sr.
Harvey Willis Sr., 79, died at Powell Hospital on July 2, 2001.
He was born March 7, 1922, in Watts, Okla., to Joseph F. and Maggie Gravitt Willis.
He married

Mary Fern Wadsworth in 1942 in Kimball, Neb.
He was a veteran of World War II, receiving the Silver Star, Bronze Star and Purple Heart in the European Campaign.
He owned and operated service stations in Red Lodge and Laurel. He farmed for several years in Red Lodge, Clark, Burlington and Powell. He retired in 1988.
He was a wonderful father, grandfather and friend.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, daughters Barbara (Dennis) Wegner, Betty (Alan) Skalsky, son Harvey Willis Jr., all of Powell, and son John (Leslie) Willis of Elko, Nev., 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 6, at Miratsky-Easton Funeral Home in Powell. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery with the Powell Veterans Honor Guard providing military honors.
Memorials can be made to the Rocky Mountain Cancer Center in Billings.
Frances E. Coryell
Frances E. Coryell, 86, died Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at West Park Hospital.
Frances was born March 11, 1915, in Mitchell, Neb., the daughter of Ward S. and Loretto E. (Ferguson) Ross.
She moved to Cody in 1927 where she attended schools and graduated from Cody High School in 1932.

Jimmie E. Cull in Fort Collins, Colo. Frances worked at many jobs through the years but will be well remembered in more recent years as the manager of the Mountain View Apartments.

John D. Coryell in 1949 in Cheyenne. Mr. Coryell preceded her death in 1975.
She was a member of the VFW Auxillary and St. Theresa's Circle. She enjoyed cards and was a faithful Friday card player at the Cody Senior Citizens Center.
Survivors include daughters Marilyn Lanchbury and Nancy Spomer, both of Cody, brothers Tom Ross of Ten Sleep, Bill Ross of Cody and Ward Ross of Thermopolis, sister Mary Covillo of Denver, eight grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Mass of the Christian Burial was celebrated July 6 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Burial followed in Riverside Cemetery.
Those wishing may make memorial donations to the Cody Senior Citizens Center in her name.
Ronald Roselus Vicknair
Ronald Roselus Vicknair, 51, died of cancer at the VA Medical Center in Denver on July 3, 2001.
He was born in New Orleans, La., on Sept. 9, 1949.
An avid outdoorsman, his love of the Rocky Mountains, fishing and camping brought him to Cody.
He is survived by daughters Tana Patterson and Cali Vicknair, both of Reno, Nev., siblings Clifford "Kip" Vicknair, Sidney Vicknair and Margie Vicknair, many nieces and nephews and his beloved dog K.C.
A memorial service will be held at the family cabin in Sunlight Basin at a later date.
Marion T. 'Ted' Sell
Marion T. "Ted" Sell, 76, died July 4, 2001, at West Park Hospital.
Ted was born Jan. 7, 1925, in Fowler Kan., the son of Curtis and Hulda (Peavey) Sell. The family moved to Meeteetse while Ted was a small child in the late 1920s.
He attended school in Meeteetse and graduated from Meeteetse High School. While in school, Ted excelled in sports, particularly basketball.
He served in the Navy during World War II and was discharged in 1945.
Ted then returned to Meeteetse and worked for Barling Construction for nearly 25 years and then for the Park County Road and Bridge Department for another 25 years. He retired in 1989.
He was active in the American Legion and served as post commander, was an umpire for Meeteetse baseball games and drove the activity school bus. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, basketball and, most importantly, spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Marie, sons Dean (Mel) of Meeteetse and Ted (Samantha) of Luther, Mont., daughter Lyn Sell of Billings, brothers Clyde of Powell, Bobby of Riverton, grandchildren Bobby (Julie) Mielke, Aaron Sell, Amy Sell and Cheyenne Sell and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Leonard.
Memorial services were July 9 at the Meeteetse High School Gym.

Robert Walker Lowry
Robert Walker Lowry, 89, died July 4, 2001, at West Park Long Term Care Center.
Robert was born March 14, 1912, in Windsor, Colo., to Fred and Maude Lowry. He attended schools in Colorado but graduated from high school in Laramie.
His family moved to Lovell, where Fred was the sugar factory superintendent until he retired.
In Lovell, Robert met the love of his life, Montana. They were married

May 16, 1931, and remained devoted to each other for 70 years.
Robert graduated from New Mexico A&M in Las Cruces with a degree in mechanical engineering.
He always had an adventurous spirit and was delighted when he landed a job with the government in the Canal Zone in Panama. He was an engineer with the dredging division 1937-52. From 1952 until he retired he worked as a consulting engineer on dredging jobs in Canada, Israel, Venezuela and Australia.
He loved to travel and he and Montana once sailed around the world on a Norwegian freighter for six months.
He is survived by his wife Montana, daughters Dolores (Bob) Snyder and Ocean (Joe) Lowry, both of Albuquerque, N.M., five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Ruth Brush of Billings and brother Jack of Worland.
Funeral services were July 9 at Christ Episcopal Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Children's Burn Center-Shriners Hospital, in care of the Masonic Temple, 1138 Rumsey Ave., Cody.
Walter Kant
Former Cody resident Walter Kant, 83, died Oct. 5, 2001, at Poplar Living Center in Casper.
He was born Feb. 9,1918, in Guernsey, the oldest of six children of William F. and Estelle (Runser) Kant. He was raised on the family farm at Lost Springs. His mother died in 1933. He then joined the Civilian Conservation Corps as soon as he was old enough to enlist.
On Aug. 4, 1940, he married

Susan Borner of Cody. They raised four children.
He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad as a roadmaster's clerk in Green River for several months before enlisting in the Army.
During World War II, he served in the transportation corps and he and his wife owned and operated the Lost Springs general store and post office.
In 1946 the family moved to Lance Creek where he and his sister Emmy Lou purchased Roy Lee's store and locker plant in the Gateway area. They renamed it K&K Market. In 1950 his sister purchased his share so he could move on to other interests, including a service station, bulk fuel plant, oil field construction and oil properties.
Survivors include his wife of Lusk, children Michael and his wife of Hubbard, Ore., Pat and wife of Douglas and Bill of Chadron, Neb., sisters Pauline Werdin of Germantown, Md., and Emmy Lou Huff of Douglas, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Jerri Lynn, brothers Richard and Bill Kant and sister Edith Delahunty.
Funeral services for Mr. Kant were Tuesday in Lusk.

Jess D. Simpson
Former Cody resident Jess D. Simpson, 88, died Oct. 6, 2001, in Wellington, Colo.
Mr. Simpson was born April 3, 1913, in Twila, Ky., to Madison and Minta (Hensley) Simpson.

Marjorie M. Cash in Cody.
Mr. Simpson worked as a laborer in oil field construction and was active in the Baptist church and as an Eagle.
He moved from Riverton to Fort Collins, Colo., in February 2001.
Mr. Simpson is survived by his son Jess Simpson Jr. of Gillette, daughters Marjorie Hoyer of Sheridan, Paulette Barry and Diana Swift, both of Wellington, and Sandy Mistler of Fort Collins, brother Henry Simpson and sister Reva Garwood, both of Casper, Edna Nakamura of Oakbridge, Tenn., 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and son Matt.
Graveside services for Mr. Simpson will be at 2 p.m. Oct. 11 at Riverside Cemetery.
