Robert F. Burns
Robert F. Burns, 81, died Wednesday, April 5, 2000, at West Park Hospital after a courageous battle with emphysema and cancer.
He was born Sept. 8, 1918, in Powell, the son of Albert R. and Ruey Goodwin Burns. Bob married

Mary Meyers on Dec. 3, 1938, in Billings.
A lifelong Wyoming resident, Bob owned and operated Bob's Plumbing. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, a rock club and archery club. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed bird watching, fishing, hunting, archery, archaeology and camping.
Survivors include his wife Mary of Cody, daughters Fern and husband Randy Bath of Houston, Jeanne and Butch Russell of Cody and Marilyn Erickson of Denver, brother Ernest and Inez Burns of Powell, sister Opal and Albert Johnson of Prineville, Ore., 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place and in accordance with his wishes, no services are planned.
Memorial donations may be made to Park County Search and Rescue, 1131 11th St., Cody.
Jean Cole Anderson
Former Cody resident Jean Cole Anderson, 98, of Talmadge Terrace, Athens, died in Athens, Ga., on March 21, 2000.
Born" target="_blank">Born into a Marietta, Ga., family of many generations on Dec. 1, 1901, she was a lifelong member of St. James Episcopal Church. The daughter of Carolyn Tupper Fraser and Daniel Webster Cole, she spent much of her childhood at western wilderness sites while her father, a civil engineer, built dams, notably the Buffalo Bill (Shoshone) Dam in Cody. Her grandfather Henry Greene Cole donated land to the federal government for the Marietta National Cemetery.
Mrs. Anderson's lifelong dream was to visit the dam her father built in Cody. That wish was fulfilled when she, a son and daughter came to Cody in August 1991 to see the dam and tour the Shoshone Project. Mrs. Anderson returned to Cody in September 1993 to participate in the dedication of the completed Buffalo Bill Dam Modification Project.
Mrs. Anderson would have been born in Cody because her family lived here during dam construction, but the doctor told her mother to return to a lower altitude for the coming baby's safety, Mrs. Anderson told the Enterprise in 1981.
In 1931 she received a degree in physics from Sweet Briar College, Lynchburg, Va. In 1934 she married

the late George David Anderson Jr.
Active in the civic life of Marietta, she performed in Marietta Little Theatre productions, was a co-founder and volunteer for 45 years at the Saint James Thrift Shop, a member of St. Anne's Guild and the Bridal Wreath Garden Club and was valued as an authority on Marietta history. She moved to Talmadge Terrace, Athens, in 1999.
Mrs. Anderson is survived by son George David Anderson III and wife Nancy of Marietta, daughter Lovat and John L. Wilkins III of Athens, grandchildren Jennifer Harrison of Marietta, John J. Wilkins IV and Ellen Wilkins, great-granddaughter Alexis Wilkins of Athens and cousin Bayard Cole of Marietta.
Services were at Saint James Episcopal Church in Marietta on March 24 with the Rev. David Perkins officiating. Interment followed at Marietta National Cemetery.

Roy Keith Rowan
Former Cody resident Roy Keith Rowan, 35, died April 5, 2000, at the home of his parents Ann and Duane Rowan in Kent, Wash.
Roy lived most of his life in the Cody area. He attended special education classes at Northwest Child Development Center in Powell and also in Cody and Wapiti schools.
Roy will be remembered for his love of people, especially children, dogs and kittens. He touched the hearts and lives of many people in his special way. Survivors include his parents, brothers Mark of Cody and Stacy of Orofino, Idaho, and sister Karen Eoff of Kent, Wash.
Interment was April 10 at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Wash.
David Lewis Scott
Former Cody resident David Lewis Scott, 55, died Wednesday, April 5, 2000, at his home in Las Vegas, Nev.
He was born April 1, 1945, to George E. and Jewell B. Scott in Greybull, where he lived and attended school until joining the Army in 1962. Dave served in the Army for about six years. After his discharge from the service, he worked for Mountain Bell in Casper as a telephone lineman and later moved to Cody where he worked for Kmart.
In 1986 he moved to Las Vegas and in 1992 he married

Charlette Bunch. They raised her daughters Heidi Sweet of Las Vegas and Holly Houser of Salt Lake City.
Survivors include his wife Charlette of Las Vegas, son Mike of Ohio, daughters Jennifer of Casper and Michelle of St. Louis, Mo., brother Douglas of Greybull and sisters Marjorie Kitzerow of Sun City, Calif., and Margaret Brown of Cody, six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Dave was preceded in death by his father in 1968 and his mother in 2000.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service was April 8 at Echoes of Faith Church in Las Vegas.
J. Kenneth Burke
J. Kenneth Burke, 87, died Saturday, April 15, at Powell Hospital.
Mr. Burke was born Nov. 3, 1912, to Daniel and Clara Lentz Burke in Avoca, Iowa. On June 21, 1937, he married

Lillian Kuhl at St. John's Catholic Church in Des Moines, Iowa. For the past 54 years, he has made his home in Powell.
Mr. Burke was a member of St. Barbara's Catholic Church and the Eagles Lodge. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and golf.
Survivors include his wife Lillian of Powell, sons Larry and Nedra of Evanston, Michael and Burnie of Powell, Dennis and Linda of Oxford, Ohio, and David and Nena of Cody, daughters Nancy and Richard Cote of Olympia, Wash., and Judy and Jim Liner of Ralston, 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Burke was preceded in death by his parents and sister Eleanor.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Barbara's with burial following in Crown Hill Cemetery.
Stephen A. Jurras
Stephen A. Jurras, 59, of Red Lodge died Wednesday, April 19, of an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound.
He was born March 9, 1941, in Montpelier, Vt., and married

his wife Cheryl on Oct. 21, 1967.
A member of the Colter's Hell Justice Committee, he was referred to as "Seaborne Barnes," and was a life member of the Single Action Shooting Society.
Stephen came to Red Lodge in 1990 and purchased the barber shop in the Pollard Hotel. When the hotel was renovated, he moved into a building near the Roman Theatre. An old-fashioned barber, he ran a barber shop at the Pony Express in Red Lodge until his death.
Stephen loved guns and cowboy action shooting. He will be remembered for his loving, caring ways and his sense of humor.
Survivors include his wife of Red Lodge, daughter Deborah and husband Tom Lindblom of Silver Spring, Md., grandsons Oskar and Henry Lindblom and granddaughter Jamie Murray of Winooski, Vt., his father Henry Jurras of Montpelier and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his son James and daughters Stephanie and Ruth and his mother Dorothy Harrington.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Olcott Funeral Chapel in Red Lodge.

Albert Wesley Lawson
Albert Wesley Lawson, 74, died April 13, 2000, in Powell.
He was born Dec. 7, 1925, in Concrete, N.D., to Oliver Murphy and Clara Lien Lawson. He attended Park River Agricultural School in Park River, N.D.

Carol Ann Brandt on Dec. 17, 1956, in Powell, after serving in the Korean War 1952-54.
He enjoyed photography, painting, restoring vehicles, farm equipment and machinery, and travel.
Al's life might best be summed up with the phrase "he never met a stranger." He was always open and friendly to everyone he met.
He will be remembered for his quick wit and a friendly slap on the back. He was honest to a fault and had a passion for travel photography and meeting people.
He was a loving husband, father, uncle and grandfather and will be missed.
Survivors include his wife Carol Ann, sons Keith and wife Suzett Lawson of Murray, Utah, and Daryl and Cheryl Ann Lawson of Cody, daughter Gayle and John Chuilicek of Big Fork, Mont., brother Robert and Ida Lawson of Powell and Richard and Zelda Lawson of Cavalier, N.D., sister Mildred and Joe Lynch of Kirkland, Wash., Edna and Richard Lerud of Bothell, Wash., and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Lawrence, son Lynn and grandson Garrett.
Funeral services were April 17 at Ballard Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
Herman Lehman
Herman Lehman, 82, of Worland, died Thursday, April 20, 2000, at Community Care of America in Worland.
He was born June 4, 1917, in Worland, to Peter and Elizabeth Katherine Mast Lehman. He grew up and attended schools in Worland and went to work on the family farm when he was 13.
On Dec. 12, 1937, he married

Lorene Scheuerman in Worland. He continued to farm until 1975, worked at the Wyoming Boys School for a few years, then moved to town and worked for the city of Worland during the summers and Holly Sugar in the winter.
He was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Worland and the Eagles Lodge.
Survivors include sons Alvin Lehman of Cody, twins Larry Lehman of Carrollton, Texas, and Jerry Lehman of Rangely, Colo., brothers Pete Lehman of Buffalo and Henry Lehman of Worland, sister Emma Weber of Worland, grandsons Ron Lehman and Rocky Lehman, both of Cody, and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lorene on April 16, 1997, daughter Judy Lehman, grandson Dean Lehman, his parents and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Worland with burial following at Riverview Memorial Garden Cemetery in Worland.

Nancy Jean Durham
Nancy Jean Durham, 47, died of natural causes at her home in Billings on Tuesday, April 18, 2000.
She was born May 7, 1952, in Billings to Arthur and Virginia Berven Durham. She was raised in Powell and graduated from Powell High School in 1971.
She lived in Fairbanks, Alaska, later returning to Powell. In 1991 she moved to Billings where she worked at various restaurants.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Eagles Auxiliary. She knew many people in Cody.
Survivors include brothers Terry Durham of Powell, Brian Durham, formerly of Cody, and wife Patricia of West Valley City, Utah, and Gordon and Lynn Durham of Billings.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Private interment of her cremains next to her parents at Crown Hill Cemetery was Wednesday.
Jack Lee Smith
Former Cody resident Jack Lee Smith, 61, died March 18, 2000, in Renton, Wash.
He was born Nov. 15, 1938, in Wadena, Minn. He graduated from Cody High School in 1957 and served in the Navy 1957-61. He was employed for 30 years as a machinist with Boeing, retiring in 1995. He was a past member of Boeing Machinist Union.
He married

Diana Fay Cunningham on July 11, 1964, in Thermopolis.
He enjoyed fishing, camping and hunting.
Survivors include his wife of Renton, mother Violet Smith of Port Angeles, Wash., sons Jay Smith and Joe Smith, both of Port Angeles and Mike Smith of Renton, sister Betty Townsend of Kimball, Neb., three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were Wednesday in Renton with interment planned in Cody.
