Joe French - 06/25/03

Funeral services for Joseph E. French, 82, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Michelotti, Sawyer and Nordquist Funeral Home Chapel in Billings, Mont.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday.

Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Moorhill Cemetery in Hulett.

Mr. French died Sunday, June 22, 2003, at his home in Billings.

He was born July 26, 1920, to Abe and Mary (Molitor) French. He grew up and attended a rural elementary school north of Gillette. He then attended and graduated from high school in Deadwood, S.D.

Following graduation, he enlisted with the US Air Force and, as a pilot, flew 31 successful missions during World War II. Mr. French returned to Wyoming after his discharge from the service and worked various jobs.

In 1951 he began work with the Federal Government as surveyor for the Bureau of Land Management. After 31 years at this job, he returned in Billings.

He is survived by two brothers, Henry French of Buffalo and Jake French of Gillette; three sisters, Helen Palmer and Clara French, both of Lakeview Terrace, Calif., and Mary French of Hulett.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Jim and Willie.

A memorial has been established in his name. Donations may be sent in care of Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home, 210 W. Fifth St., Gillette, WY 82716.

Michelotti, Sawyer, and Nordquist Funeral Home in Billings and Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home in Gillette are in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.stevesonandsons.com.

Donald Williams - 04/12/01

Memorial services for Donald Keith Williams will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Bustard's Funeral Home in Casper with the Rev. Brian Lombardi of the Church of Christ of Casper officiating.

Military rites will be accorded by the United Veteran's Council of Natrona County.

Burial will be in the Buffalo City Cemetery at a later date.

He died Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at the Wyoming Medical Center of natural causes. He was 62.

He was born Feb. 12, 1939, in Sheridan to Gregory Donald and Louise Mildred (Maxted) Williams.

In 1957, he joined the U.S. Navy where he obtained his high school diploma. He served active duty until 1961 in the United States and abroad as an air traffic controller. In 1961, Mr. Williams remained in the Navy as a reservist and as air traffic controller in California, Arizona and Casper.

On Feb. 14, 1965, he married Nancy Karen Lynde in Gillette. Together they managed many motels in the Gillette area. They also managed restaurants, such as the American Legion in Buffalo.

His wife died in 1978, and he worked various jobs until 1980 when he moved with his daughter to Midwest, where he managed the Junction Cafe. He continued to work and live in Midwest and Casper until his death.

Mr. Williams enjoyed bowling, fishing and playing bingo. He enjoyed being with his family and watching them play sports. He also enjoyed the people at the Wyoming Kidney Center of Casper.

He is survived by his daughter, Judy McGowen of Midwest; three grandchildren; two sisters, Erva Day of Sheridan and Roberta ValJean Lucas of Buffalo; an aunt; two cousins and many others.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, his maternal grandfather, John Lynde; an infant son, Gregory John; and a grandson, Kyle Duane.

Esther Reid - 05/31/02

Funeral services for Esther Corder Pease Reid, 93, of Gillette will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Riverside Cemetery in Cody.

She died Wednesday, May 29, 2002, at Pioneer Manor of natural causes.

She was born July 12, 1908, in Marquette, Wyo., to James and Gertrude Corder. She attended school in Cody.

She was active in the Does, Eastern Stars, Eagles Auxiliary and the Better Best Homemakers Club.

She lived in Cody until 1985 when she moved to Gillette to live with her daughter, Barbara Laddusaw.

Mrs. Reid is survived by her daughters, Barbara Laddusaw of Gillette and Joan Moller of Cody; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Anna Mae Corder and Pauline Corder; brothers, Earnest Corder and Earl Corder; her son, Charles Pease, a grandson, Keith Moller; and great-grandson, Mason Davis.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Ballards Funeral Home in Cody is in charge of arrangements.

Felix Sowada - 02/06/03

Funeral liturgy for Felix Sowada, 91, of Sheridan, the father of a Gillette man, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Name Catholic Church in Sheridan with the Rev. Ronald Stolcis officiating.

Burial will be in the Elk's section of Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

Mr. Sowada died Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.

He was born Sept. 27, 1911, in St. Wendel, Minn., to Valentine and Rosalia (Waverek) Sowada. He worked on a farm for his room and board before going into the U.S. Army in 1931. Upon his discharge in 1933, he returned to Minnesota and married Alice Peterson on July 15, 1941.

He went to work for the Veteran's Administration transferring to the Sheridan V.A. in 1966. During his service with the V.A. he was the coordinator in the physical, medical and rehabilitation services.

Mr. Sowada is survived by four sons, including Felix Sowada of Gillette; one daughter; three brothers; two sisters; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; two sisters; and one grandchild.

Memorials in his name may be made in care of Holy Name Catholic Church, 260 E. Loucks, St., Sheridan, WY 82801.

Champion Ferries Funeral Home in Sheridan is in charge of arrangements.
