Daniel Joseph Lubick
SHERIDAN - Daniel Joseph Lubick, 64, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, in the VA Hospital in Sheridan.
He was born Aug. 20, 1944, in Butte, Mont., the son of Phyllis (Walker) and Walter Lubick. He graduated from Greeley School and Butte High School.
He then joined the Army and did tours of duty in Vietnam.
He married
Ann Ellifritz in 1978 in Rock Springs. They had two children, Dan and Kimberly.
He drove a truck and also worked in the school bus barn in Rock Springs.
His interests included collecting things, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Ann; children, Dan and Kimberly and boyfriend Mike; new grandson, Joseph Andrew, who was born Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008; brothers, Walter and wife Patti Lubick of Great Falls, Mont., Frank and wife Cece Lubick and Tom and wife Linda Lubick of Butte; sisters, Judy and husband Bill Henderson of Butte and Pam and husband Larry Lee of Clifton, Colo.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and both mother- and father-in-law.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be conducted in Rock Springs.
Daniel Joseph Lubick
ROCK SPRINGS - Memorial services for Daniel Joseph Lubick have been set.
Military memorial services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, September 12, 2008, at the American Legion Archie Hay Post No. 24, 543 Broadway, Rock Springs.
Military honors and inurnment will be in the Veterans Section of the Rock Springs Municipal cemetery

Frank "Bronc" Donald Dernovich
ROCK SPRINGS - Frank 'Bronc' Donald Dernovich, 88, of 1601 W. Second St., Rock Springs, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008 in Salt Lake City. A longtime resident of Rock Springs and former resident of Williamson, Iowa, he died following a brief illness.
He was born Oct. 10, 1919, in Williamson, Iowa, the son of August and Julia Chernich Dernovich.
Mr. Dernovich married
Francis Irene Peternel on July 14, 1940, in Manila, Utah. She preceded him in death on July 7, 1995.
He worked as a coal miner for 22 years.
He worked for FMC as a mine area supervisor for 18 years and Sweetwater County maintenance supervisor for six years.
Mr. Dernovich was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Community and Fraternal Order Eagles Aerie No. 151.
He served for two years in the Civil Conservation Corps.
His interests included hunting, fishing, carpentry, gardening and horses.
Survivors include three sons, Larry Dernovich of Rock Springs, Don Dernovich and wife Kathy of Culbertson, Neb., and Rob Dernovich and wife Michealine of Rock Springs; one brother, Todd Dernovich of Sheridan; two sisters, Vera Cooper of Salt Lake City and Toni Dernovich of Camario, Calif.; six grandchildren, Dee Dee Berry and husband Paul of Rock Springs, Jennifer Sain and husband David of Rock Springs, Heath Dernovich of Loveland, Colo., Jessica Roth and husband Matt and Kaitlyn Starks and husband Ray, all of Lincoln, Neb., and Desesire Grienier of Maui, Hawaii; five great-grandchildren, Chloe and Aiden Dernovich, Zachary and Braxton Berry and Hunter Sain; and several cousins, nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; four brothers, Vance, August, George and Tommy; and seven sisters, Mary, Eva, Anna, Agnes, Catherine, Julia and Helen.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12, 2008, at the SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, 633 Bridger Ave., Rock Springs. A parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008, at the Vase Funeral Chapel, 154 Elk St. Interment will be in the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Vase Chapel and until time of services Friday morning at the chapel. Pallbearers will include Larry Dernovich, Donald Dernovich, Robert Dernovich, Dave Sain, Paul Berry and Heath Dernovich.
Honorary pallbearers will include Albert Gookin, Vincent Peternel, Gary Lee Tipp, August Dernovich Jr., Steven Dernovich, Frank Peternel and Jack Podbevsek. The Dernovich family will be receiving friends at 1032 Maple Way.
James Thomas Overy
PHOENIX - James Thomas Overy, 40, died Friday, Sept. 5, 2008.
He was born Sept. 21, 1967, in Rock Springs. He grew up in Rock Springs.
He played football and was on the swimming team in high school.
He was an ordained high priest in the LDS Church and was a former firefighter and certified as an emergency medical responder.
Mr. Overy moved to Phoenix in 2003. He was most recently studying criminal justice at the University of Phoenix,.
He is survived by his wife, Dennize; parents, Ray and Janice Zelenka Overy; brother, Scott Overy and wife Melanie; sister, Raelyne Overy Michel and husband Rob; son, Andrew 'A.J.'; daughters, Lindsey, Lacey and Christina Overy McDonald and husband Levi; stepdaughters, Tonia Kiehle, Adrienne Kiehle and Jennifer Kiehle DeLuco and husband Mark; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Thomas and Axelina Overy; maternal grandparents, James and Margery Zelenka; and cousin, Brian Zelenka.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday Sept. 15, 2008, at the LDS Stake Center, 2055 Edgar St., Rock Springs. Bishop Allen Knight will conduct the services. Interment will be in the Rock Springs Municipal cemetery in Rock Springs, Wyoming. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008, at Vase Chapel and Monday morning until time of services at the L. D. S. Stake Center.
The family will be receiving friends on Saturday and Sunday up until the time of the viewing at the home of his parents, Ray and Janice Overy, 234 Jade St., Rock Springs.
Richard "Dern" Leroy Dernovich
GROVE, Okla. - Richard 'Dern' Leroy Dernovich, 62, died Saturday, June 7, 2008, at his home in Grove, Okla.
He was born Oct. 19, 1945, in Rock Springs to August Dernovich Sr. and Rose Dernovich. He was raised in Rock Springs and graduated from Rock Springs High School. After high school, he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Dernovich worked at Bridger Coal for many years as a coal hauler operator.
After leaving Rock Springs, he took a job at Newmont Gold in Nevada as a gold hauler operator.
After leaving Newmont Gold, he traveled the Western United States. He eventually moved to Grove.
He married
Dolores Rae Hall in Nebraska. Together they had two daughters, Breezy and Shawna; and a son, Richard Jr. They later divorced. He married
Jean Whiteside while living in Elko, Nev. Together they had a son, Devon.
His interests included classic cars, searching for old cars to restore, making friends with people who shared this passion and his candy apple red 1939 Ford Coupe.
He is survived by his wife, Jean of Cordell, Okla.; daughter, Breezy and husband Jason Bird of Idaho Falls, Idaho; son, Devon of Cordell; brother, August and wife Marge Dernovich of Rock Springs; two grandchildren, Aspen and Damien Bird of Idaho Falls; uncle, John 'Todd' Dernovich of Sheridan; numerous cousins and their families; and many nieces and nephews and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rose Dernovich and August Dernovich Sr.; son, Richard Leroy Jr.; daughter, Shawna Lynn; his sister, Linda Kay Onisto; and his uncle Frank Dernovich.
Cremation has taken place. Military graveside services will take place at noon Monday, Sept. 15, 2008, at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens north of Rock Springs. The service will be performed by the American Legion and family will meet with friends.
William Carson Suftko
ROCK SPRINGS - William Carson Suftko, 74, of 1007 Adams Ave., Rock Springs, died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008, at his home. A longtime resident of Rock Springs and former resident of Phoenix, he had been in ill health for several years.
He was born Oct. 8, 1933, in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Stanley M. and Louisa E. Suftko. He attended school in Chicago and Phoenix. He was a graduate of Phoenix High School. He also attended the Phoenix Christian College.
Mr. Suftko married
the former Jo Ann Van Camp on May 11, 1990, in Phoenix.
He was the owner and operator of SST Testing for the past five years and had been a truck driver prior to that.
He was a member of the Rock Springs Evangelical Free Church.
He was also a member of American Legion Archie Hay Post No. 24 and served as a chaplain and adjuntant. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Salvation Army.
His interests included singing and playing the guitar in church, drawing cartoons and giving.
Survivors include three sons, Steven Suftko and wife Donna of Pigeon Forge, Tenn., Phyllip Chakos wife Terri of Phoenix and Carl Suftko of Gary, Ind.; two stepsons, Todd Ferriby and wife Jessica of Mesa, Ariz., and James Ferriby and wife Patty of Walled Lake, Mich.; two daughters, Cynthia Suftko of Grand Junction, Colo., and Kathey Smart of Rock Springs; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Georgia; second wife, Wanda; three brothers, Stanley Suftko Jr., James Suftko and Jerald Suftko; and two sisters, Wanda and Rosemarie.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008, at the Rock Springs Evangelical Free Church, 125 Firestone Road, Rock Springs. Pastor Richard Carlson will conduct the services. Military graveside services and interment will follow in the Rock Springs Municipal cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 11 a.m. until service time Wednesday. Pallbearers include James Arndt, David Gilman, Todd Ferriby, James Ferriby, Carl Suftko and Blake Wolman.
John "Jack" Cecil Currier
ROCK SPRINGS - John 'Jack' Cecil Currier, 85, of 1208 11th St., Rock Springs, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County in Rock Springs. A resident of Rock Springs for the past 35 years and former resident of Maine, he died following a lengthy illness.
He was born Feb. 5, 1923 in Whitefield, N.H., the son of Oscar T. and Martha J. Peake Currier. He attended school in Jay, Maine, and graduated from Jay High School in 1941. He married
the former Eileen Virginia Meader on Dec. 12, 1942, in Livermore Falls, Maine. She preceded him in death on April 27, 1994.
Mr. Currier was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He served from Jan. 12, 1943 to Jan. 16, 1946. He was a member of the Signal Corp on the island of Ie Shima, Okinawa and the Philippine Islands. Reporter Ernie Pyle was killed by a sniper while Mr. Currier was on Ie Shima. Mr. Currier received the Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, American Theater Campaign Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Ribbon and one Bronze Service Star. A millwright since 1964, Mr. Currier worked for various employers including Pacific Power & Light. Mr. Currier retired on Feb. 5, 1988.
He was a member of Eaton Memorial Methodist Church in Livermore Falls, Maine, member of the Mt. Defiance Masonic Lodge No. 794 in Ticonderoga, N.Y., and signing founder of the Maine Trapper's Association.
His interests included hunting, fishing, gardening, cats, history and spending time with his wife and family.
Survivors include three sons, Robert J. Currier of Omaha, Neb., Tim D. Currier of Eugene, Ore., and Rich D. Currier and wife Michelle of Rock Springs; four daughters, Cynthia E. Jackson of Cheyenne, Deborah Buker and husband Philip of Standish, Maine, Susan Pate and husband Bill of Russellville, Ark., and Nancy Vonberg and husband Ernie of Green River; two brothers, Oscar Currier of Rock Springs and Richard Currier and wife Eleanor of North Jay, Maine; one sister, Martha Currier of Fort Wayne, Ind.; 23 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, including Leah Doak and husband Bob and Jim Currier and wife Ellen, all of Rock Springs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar T. and Martha Currier; and his wife, Eileen Currier.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008, at the Vase Funeral Chapel, 154 Elk St., Rock Springs. Friends may call one hour prior to services Saturday at the Vase Chapel. Cremation will follow. Military graveside services and inurnment will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 8, 2008, at the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens by the American Legion Archie Hay Post No. 24.
Beulah M. Faler
PINEDALE - Beulah M. Faler, 87, of Pinedale, died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008, in Pinedale.
She was born Dec. 13, 1920, in Ironsides, Md. to Charles and Edna Millar. She was the eighth of nine children. She attended school in Maryland and graduated with honors at the age of 15. She was an athlete who received many tennis and volleyball trophies. After graduation, she went to work for the Naval Intelligence Department in the U.S. Pentagon.
During World War II, she met Harold Faler at a military dance where she was a hostess in Washington, D.C. They were married
on June 22, 1944, in San Diego. They then returned to her husband's home state and lived in Boulder. They had two sons, Judson and Lester.
Mrs. Faler taught elementary school in Boulder's one-room schoolhouse her first year in Wyoming. She and her husband opened their first grocery store, Faler's General Store, in Boulder after their first year of marriage. They eventually outgrew the store in Boulder and opened a larger store in Pinedale. The business grew and remained in the family until January 2008.
Her interests included her family, teaching her sons how to play ball; writing, authoring Christmas plays for the Episcopal Church in Pinedale where she was an active member while her children were young; being an artist, receiving many ribbons for her original oil paintings; competing in and winning several golf tournaments; playing bridge; riding horses; hunting and hosting events in the community.
Survivors include her husband, Harold; son, Judson and his wife Claire of Pinedale; sister, Lillian (Sugar) Walker of Maryland; grandchildren, Steve Faler of Pinedale, Brenda Szymczak of Casper, Beau Faler of Pinedale, Karen Nielson of Tacoma, Wash., and Kristie Wright of Texarkana, Texas; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; seven siblings; and a son, Lester.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12, 2008, in the Pinedale cemetery. A reception will follow at the Pinedale Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Elsie Blasko
ROCK SPRINGS - Elsie Blasko, 95, of 834 Ridge Ave., Rock Springs, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008, at Sage View Care Center in Rock Springs. A lifelong resident of Rock Springs, she died following a lengthy illness.
She was born Aug. 20, 1913, in Quealey, the daughter of Paul J. and Josephine Korosec Hribar.
She married
Benedict J. Blasko on Sept. 26, 1934, in Salt Lake City. He preceded her in death on April 26, 1988.
She worked as a homemaker to a coal miner husband, taking care of her widowed mother and raising her son, Donald. She also assisted her husband in the operation of the Yellowstone Caf'. In later years, she was employed by the Bi-Rite Drug Store until her retirement.
She was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Community, Young-at-Heart Senior Citizen Center and Slovenian National Benefit Society Lodge No. 555.
Her interests included keeping her family happy, yard work and housekeeping.
She suffered and survived multiple heart attacks.
Survivors include one son, Donald P. Blasko of Rock Springs; two grandchildren, Brenda Blasko Payte and husband Steven of Montrose, Colo., and Benedict J. Blasko of Laramie; three great-grandchildren, Taylor Marion Blasko of Montrose, Colo., and Joseph Benedict Blasko and Lea Rain Blasko, both of Tucson, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Paul J. Hribar; and one sister, Frances Kalan.

Evelyn Louise Robinson Page
ROCK SPRINGS - Evelyn Louise Robinson Page, 84, of 718 Randolph St., Rock Springs, died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008, at her home. A longtime resident of Rock Springs and former resident of Hanna, she died following a brief illness.
She was born March 15, 1924, in Superior, the daughter of Royal Douglas and Lucille Anna Booker Robinson. She attended and graduated from Hanna High School.
She married
Leonard George Page on Oct. 28, 1950, in Rock Springs. He preceded her in death on July 15, 1986.
Mrs. Page was employed at Mountain Bell for many years as a telephone operator and retired in 1984.
She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Her interests included spending time with her family, playing cards, watching the Cooking Network and Jeopardy and working crossword puzzles.
Survivors include one son, Leonard George Page Jr. and wife Belinda of Rock Springs; five daughters, Cheryle Carter and husband Joe of Rock Springs, Linda Johnson and husband Harold of Denver and Cynthia Yarber, Candace Hendrix and Christy Harlow and husband Warren, all of Rock Springs; five sisters, Laverne Robinson and Marilyn Robinson, both of Denver, Delores Beaver of Rock Springs, Lorain Robinson of Green River and Sharon Williams of Arizona; 21 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several cousins and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons; one sister; four brothers; and one grandson.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 150 Mesa Drive, Rock Springs.
Leonard Cordova will conduct the services. Inurnment will take place at the Mountain View Section of the Rock Springs Municipal cemetery.
Margaret L. Conroy
CASPER - Margaret L. Conroy, 90, died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008, at the Mountain Towers Healthcare in Cheyenne.
She was born in 1917 in Bentley, N.D. She graduated from high school in Billings, Mont., and also received an associate's degree from Wharton County Junior College in Wharton, Texas.
She married
her husband, Edward Conroy in July of 1952 in Billings, Mont.
Both were patrons of the arts. In New York City they loved performances on Broadway, at Carnegie Hall and would frequent art museums, such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art. They also traveled to Salt Lake City, where they enjoyed performances by the Utah Symphony, Ballet West, the Utah Opera Company, touring Broadway productions and the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition. Mrs. Conroy was an excellent cook and would tell people thank you by baking cinnamon rolls for friends, family, her doctors and even the staff at the post office in Green River.
She made friends easily. She was a movie enthusiast and an avid reader. She donated the family's collection of classical CDs to the Sweetwater County Library.
She was an avid card player and bridge player. She won trophies in Duplicate Bridge tournaments. She played Spite and Malice.
Mrs. Conroy is survived by sons, Richard Bennion of Charlotte, N.C., Charles Conroy of Green River and Dennis Conroy of Kemmerer; daughter, Diane Jansen of Cheyenne; two granddaughters, Karen Cotton and Laura Conroy; grandsons, Craig Bennion, Erik Jansen, Joseph Conroy, Matt Conroy and David Conroy; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Conroy; son, Jimmy Conroy; twin sister, Mary L. Tyrrell; and brother, George Little.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008, at the Golden Hour Senior Center, 550 Uinta Drive, Suite A in Green River. A private family service will take place later.
