Albert "Al" Stevens
GREEN RIVER - Services have been set for Albert Al Stevens. Graveside inurnment with military honors will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at the Riverview cemetery in Green River.
Stevens, 69, of Rock Springs, died Sunday, April 1, 2007, at the Sage View Care Center in Rock Springs.
Mildred "Millie" Cruz
GREEN RIVER - Mildred Millie Cruz, 88, of 241 Bramwell St., Green River died Thursday, May 10, 2007, at her home. A resident of Green River for the past 62 years and former resident of Rock Springs, Mrs. Cruz had been in ill health for the past year.
She was born Jan. 17, 1919, in Denver, the daughter of Harry Hoffman and the former Mary Cohen. She attended school in Rock Springs and was a 1937 graduate of Rock Springs High School.
She married
Fred J. Cruz on Dec. 8, 1945. He preceded her in death on Dec. 28, 1997.
Mrs. Cruz was employed as Sweetwater County assessor for 30 years.
Her interests included spending time with her family, playing piano by ear and playing slot machines.
Mrs. Cruz was a member and past president of Womans Club and Rebeccas. She was the founder of Flaming Gorge Days which was formerly Micky Finn. She was the director of many talent shows, including Micky Finn, and she also raised the money for the first band for that show.
Survivors include one son, John F. Cruz of Salt Lake City; three daughters, Jackie Fabian and husband George of Green River, Susan Glon of Denver and Harriet Hoover of Aurora, Colo.; one brother, Daniel Hoffman of Cupertino, Calif.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Glen and Liz Butcher of Green River; seven grandchildren, Todd Fabian and wife Connie, Dr. Monica Lounsbery and husband Chris, Jackie Lynn Woodward and husband Chad, Melissa Masarenas and husband Barry, Kasey Enzminger and husband Chris, Terry Salcedo and husband Pete and Scott Hoover; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Ben Hoffman; and one sister, Bertha Polse.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2007, at the Vase Flaming Gorge Chapel, 263 E. Flaming Gorge Way, Green River.Edward Shineberg will conduct the services. Inurnment will be in the Riverview cemetery. Friends may call at the Vase Chapel on Wednesday one hour prior to services.
Sharron M. Sample
FARSON - Sharron M. Sample, 62, of Farson, died Thursday, May 10, 2007, at her daughters home in Salt Lake City after a lengthy illness.
She was born Nov. 20, 1944, in Sandy, Utah, the daughter of Glen Madison and Doris F. Miller Chidester. She attended schools in Salt Lake City and attended Jordan High School.
She married
Alvin Jame Clerico on March 21, 1964, in Sandy, Utah. They were later divorced. She married
Roy Claude McKee. He preceded her in death on June 25, 1977. She married
George Sample on Sept. 2, 1990, in Elko, Nev. He also preceded her in death on Nov. 9, 2005. She had been employed as a truck driver with Talco until her recent retirement. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Her interests included gardening, cooking, her family and working in her green house.
Survivors include two sons, James Clerico of Oregon and William Clerico of Ogden, Utah; two daughters, Loretta Gull and Cherilyn Mears, both of Salt Lake City; four brothers, Verl, Bob, Larry and Dean Chidester; one sister, Carolyn Cox of Bountiful, Utah; and eight grandchildren, Joshua Gull, Amber Sample, Casondra Gull, Joseph Clerico, Austin Mears, Kendra Gull, Charlotte Clerico, and Ashley Mears.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; one son, Ted Clerico; one daughter, Sheila Sue Clerico; and one sister, Ruth.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2007, at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2007, and Wednesday one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Interment will take place in the Eden Valley cemetery in Farson.
Rose Marie Robertson
ROCK SPRINGS - Rose Marie Robertson, 68, of 117 Hancock St., Rock Springs, died Friday, June 1, 2007, at her home.A lifelong resident of Rock Springs, Mrs. Robertson had been in ill health for the past several years.
She was born Jan. 31, 1939, in Thayer Junction, the daughter of Roy and Opal Ayers Tyler. She attended school in Rock Springs and was a 1957 graduate of Rock Springs High School.
She married
Frank Robertson on Jan. 31, 1958, in Evanston. They later divorced.
Mrs. Robertson was employed at K-Mart as a sales clerk for five years and then retired in the year of 1998.
She was a member of the First Methodist Church and Young-at-Heart Senior Citizen Center.
Her interests included spending time with her family, reading, gardening camping and being an avid Oakland Raiders fan.
Survivors include her former husband, Frank Robertson of Rock Springs; one son, Brian Robertson of Rawlins; three daughters, Francine Parks and husband Brian and Melissa Scott, all of Rock Springs, Wyoming, and Becky Robertson of Fort Collins, Colo.; three brothers, Donald L. Tyler and wife Elizabeth, Jim Tyler and wife Giesela of Bonnie Lake, Wash., and Allan Tyler and wife Toni of Phoenix; grandchildren, Melanie Daley and husband Heath, Brooke and Dominique Scott, Desiree Poulos, Ted and Shawn Lopez and Christopher Scott; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Delores and Earl Miller; grandson, Stevie Parks; and one infant brother and sister.
Following cremation, there will be no services at Mrs. Robertsons request.
William D. Lepine
ROCK SPRINGS - William D. Lepine, 51, of Rock Springs, died Thursday, May 31, 2007, at his home.
He was a longtime resident of Rock Springs and former resident of Cheshire, Mass.
He was born Feb. 13, 1956, in Adams, Mass., the son of Theresa Wiater Lepine and William E. Lepine.
He attended schools in Adams and was a 1975 graduate of Hoosac Valley High School in Cheshire.
He was employed at Thunder Flats Testing in Farson, Wyoming.
His interests included fishing, sports, being outdoors and taking flying lessons.
He is survived by his mother, Theresa Lepine of Cheshire; two sons, William D. Lepine Jr. of Riverton and Steven Ryan Cole of Rock Springs; three daughters, Kaylee Lepine of Riverton, Holly Cole and Meagan Cole, both of Rock Springs; three sisters, Susan K. Cota of Atlanta, Katherine M. Lepine of Cheshire and Ann E. Atwell of Adams; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 7, 2007, at the Vase Funeral Chapel, 154 Elk St., Rock Springs.
Friends may call at the Vase Chapel one hour prior to the services.
George Adrian Giovanini
ROCK SPRINGS - George Adrian Giovanini, 90, of 122 M St., Rock Springs, died Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County. A longtime resident of Rock Springs and former resident of Hudson and Worland, Giovanini died following a sudden illness.
He was born April 21, 1917, in Hudson, the son of Matheo and Mary Seneshale Giovanini. He attended school in Hudson.
He married
Lydia M. Zancanella on June 30, 1946, in Rock Springs.
Giovanini was employed as a truck driver for the Pacific Fruit and IML until his retirement in 1975.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II until he was honorably discharged on Nov. 26, 1945.
Giovanini was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Community; Knights of Columbus No. 2441, third degree; Veterans of Foreign Wars; American Legion Archie Hay Post No. 24; Italian Lodge; AARP and the Young-at-Heart Senior Citizen Center. He was past treasurer of the Knights of Columbus and Boy Scout Troop No. 8. He helped many priests with Mass as an altar boy and usher.
Survivors include his wife, Lydia Giovanini of Rock Springs; one son, Fred M. Giovanini of Rock Springs; two daughters, Mary Giovanini of Newport Beach, Calif., and Janet James and husband Deane of Rock Springs; one sister, Mary Everett and husband Williard of Basin; nine grandchildren, Deane James II, Holly James, Heather Mattinson and husband Darren, Lindsey Williams, Lacy Dworshak and husband Dana, Lydia C. Giovanini, Fred Shattuck and wife Michelle, Tyra Robison and Kathi Chart and husband Dave; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William and Mike Giovanini; one sister, Margaret; one granddaughter, Crissie Sue; and one grandson, Bryant.
Funeral services are pending.
Kaylee Rose Miller
CASPER - A graveside service for Kaylee Rose Miller, infant daughter of Kevin and Tiffanee Evans Miller of 6500 Buckboard Ave., Casper, was conducted on Saturday, June 2, 2007, at Memorial Gardens cemetery.
The Rev. Ellis Kaster officiated the service.
She was born and died Tuesday, May 29, 2007, at Wyoming Medical Center.
Survivors include her parents; brother, Isaac Langi of Casper; grandparents, Jerry and Jolene Miller of Union City, Pa., and Craig and Connie Evans of Green River; great-grandmother, Margaret Evans of Green River; many aunts and uncles, including Mac Evans of Green River, Ernie Evans of Rock Springs and Cinnamon Evans of Rock Springs; and many cousins.
Caroline Faye Becquart
GREEN RIVER - Caroline Faye Becquart, 57, of 700 Crossbow Drive, Green River, died on Friday, June 29, 2007 at the Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County.
A resident of Green River for the past four years and former resident of Montana, Mrs. Becquart had been in ill health for the past eight years.
She was born on Jan. 31, 1949, in Chandler, Ariz., the daughter of the late Ben and Erma Smith Shumake.
Mrs. Becquart attended school in Chandler. She married
Daniel Leon Mallett in Chandler on Aug. 8, 1965, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 29, 2006.
Mrs. Becquart had been employed as a C.N.A. Her interests included spending time with her family and sewing. She loved roses and indoor plants and spending time with her dog Casey.
Survivors include one son, Michael Becquart of Green River; one son, Cheryl Upton of Freer, Texas; three grandchildren, Genna Becquart of Mesa, Ariz., Christopher Sherwood of Carlin, Nev., and Matthew Sherwood of Freer, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Cremation will take place at the Vase White Mountain Crematory There are no memorial services per her request.
Dale Dee "Pete" Hitt
MINDEN, Neb. - Dale Dee Pete Hitt died on July 2, 2007, at Bethany Home in Minden, Neb.
He was born in Marshall, Okla., on March 24, 1929, to Fay Dee Fred and Gladys Jett Hitt. He married
Clara Joan Brown in Marshall on Feb. 14, 1946.
As newlyweds, they followed the oil fields to Colorado, North Dakota and Wyoming. They lived in Rock Springs from 1956-1966, then settled in Powell, where they lived until his retirement from Johnston Testers/Schlumberger. After retirement, he returned to his native soil in Oklahoma. Two years ago, he moved to Nebraska to be near his daughter, Dawna.
Hitt is survived by one son, Dale Dee Shorty Hitt, Jr. of Rock Springs; three daughters, Anita Wall and husband Ray of Rock Springs, Jetta Kragovich of Rock Springs; and Dawna Sigurdson and husband Randy of Kearney, Neb.; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers and one sister.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan, and his parents.
Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, July 6, 2007. Graveside at North Marshall cemetery, with the Rev. Bryan Haynes officiating.
Fred E. Parady Jr.
SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. - Fred E. Parady Jr., 79, died Tuesday, July 11, 2007.
Parady was born March 19, 1928, in Caribou, Maine, the son of Fred E. Parady and Laura Clevette. He graduated from Caribou High School with the class of 1945. He received a bachelors degree in business administration in 1978 and an MBA in 1980.
Fred enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served aboard the USS Sabine (AO-25) at the end of World War II. He was discharged July 4, 1946, and returned to Caribou. He attended Thomas Business College in Waterville, Maine.
There he met and married
Jeannine Marie Jolicoeur. They moved to Washington, D.C., and he attended the Strayer College of Accountancy. He worked for Capital Airlines in Washington and was transferred to Saginaw, Mich. At the outbreak of the Korean War he was recalled and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving in Korea and Vietnam.
He retired from the Air Force on Feb. 28, 1972. Over the years worked for the State of Washington as a support enforcement officer and chief of security for Deaconess Medical Center in Spokane, Wash. From there he worked for the National Park Services as a park ranger in Acadia National Park in Maine and Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming. He was the chief of security for View Point RV & Golf Resort in Mesa, Ariz., until he retired in October 2005.
He was a fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus and belonged to the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jeannine; daughters, Kathie and husband Bob Heilsberg and Nancy and husband Daryl Marcus in Spokane; son, Fred Parady and wife Lisa in Rock Springs; eight grandchildren, Chad Heilsberg, Kristi Ray, Jessica Heilsberg, Devin Marcus, Kari Jones, Sarah Keene Parady, Katelyn Parady and Annalise Parady; six great grandchildren, Alyssa Ray, Emily Ray, Cody Ray, Sloan Heilsberg, Faith Heilsberg and Hudson Marcus; brothers, Joseph Parady of Atlanta and Charles Parady of Lynchberg, Va.; and sister, Dorena Theriault of New Orleans.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at St. Marys Catholic Church, 304S. Adams Road, Spokane Valley, Washington.
Lawrence Shannon
CHEYENNE - A 66-year-old inmate died this week from an illness at the Wyoming State Penitentiary in Rawlins, the state Corrections Department said.
Lawrence Shannon died Tuesday in the prison infirmary, Corrections spokesman Eric Stewart said in a news release Wednesday night.
The release said that Shannon had suffered a brief illness and that an autopsy had been ordered.
Stewart said he no other information about the illness or cause of death.
Shannon, a native of Cheyenne, was serving time on multiple convictions in the early 1990s of committing immoral acts with a minor and taking indecent liberties with a minor, Stewart said.
Thora Leatham Monahan
SALT LAKE CITY - Thora Leatham Monahan, 88, died Wednesday, June 27, 2007, in Salt Lake City.
She was born March 23, 1919, in Ogden, Utah, to Ida Christina George and Robert Owen Leatham.
She married
Kenneth Alan Monahan on Sept. 29, 1940, in Green River.
She retired from the Newspaper Agency.
Her interests included painting, and leatherwork.
She is survived by her children, Carl Howard Monahan, Dick Alan Monahan and Tina Monahan Salyer; a brother, Don Leatham; and a sister, Rita Shupe.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and a daughter, Sandy Monahan.
A memorial service was conducted on Saturday, June 30, 2007, at the Ridgedale Ward in Salt Lake City.
Dawnita Elizabeth Brandon
ROCK SPRINGS - Dawnita Elizabeth Brandon, 32, of 1700 Imperial Drive, Rock Springs, died Sunday, July 29, 2007. She had been a resident of Rock Springs for the past two years and a former resident of Springfield, Mo.
She was born Nov. 30, 1974, in Lawrence, Kan., the daughter of Charles Curtis and Cheryl Evans. She attended school in Lawrence.
She married
Timothy Brandon in May 2005 at Eden.
Mrs. Brandon worked as a secretary for Tesco Oil Casing Services. Her interest included making home decorating crafts.
Her survivors include one son, Dakota Ray Nowak of Clifton, Colo.; one daughter, Faith E. Evans of Clifton; mother, Cheryl Evans of Clifton; three brothers, Benjamin Johnson and Richard Johnson, both of Grand Junction, Colo., and Matthew Johnson of Mexico, Mo.; maternal grandparents, Clifford L. Evans of Overbrook, Kan., and Barbara J. Evans of Lawrence; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces.
Following cremation, memorial graveside services and inurnment will take place at the Oakhill cemetery in Lawrence. The family of Dawnita E. Brandon will be receiving relatives and friends at 1001 Pinto St., Rock Springs.
Emma Alice "Dollie" Tesch
GREEN RIVER - Emma Alice Dollie Tesch, 90, of 1445 Uinta Drive, Green River, died Monday, July 30, 2007, at the Castle Rock Convalescent Center in Green River, where she had been a resident for the past seven years. A longtime resident of Green River and former resident of Rawlins, Mrs. Tesch had been in ill health for the past several years.
She was born May 19, 1917, in Cumberland, the daughter of William McPherson and Emma Frances Betlock Shelby. She attended school in Kemmerer.
She married
Anglie Scarpos on Oct. 22, 1935, in Evanston. They later divorced. She married
Robert L. Morrison. They later divorced. She later married
Roman Tesch. He preceded her in death in 1984.
Mrs. Tesch was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Eagles Auxiliary, where she held all offices including past madam president.
She is survived by three daughters, Rosaline Becky Bramwell and husband Alfred of Green River, Alice Cookie Acton and husband Darryl of Rawlins and Mary Thuerk and husband Tom of Everett, Wash.; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; two nephews; and two nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, William Russel Shelby; and five sisters, Myrtle Griffiths, Flora Ravenello, Shirley Bensen, Betty Jo Lewis and Marion Estabrook.
Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, 2007, at the South Lincoln cemetery in Kemmerer. Friends may call from 7-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, 2007, at the Vase Flaming Gorge Chapel, 263 E. Flaming Gorge Way, Green River.
