John Robert Kumer
John Robert Kumer, 86, Rock Springs died Dec. 27 at Castle Rock Convalescent Center in Green River after a lengthy illness.
He was born Feb. 13, 1917 in Rock Springs, the son of John and Katherine Jereb Kumer. He attended schools in Rock Springs and married
Norma Mae Hamblin there in 1942. She preceded him in death in 1979.
He was employed as a miner for 20 years working in the No. 8 Mine, Stansbury and Gunn-Quealy. He was then employed with the Union Pacific Railroad as a carpenter until his retirement in 1977.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II where he was wounded during the Italian campaign.
He was a member of the United Mine Workers, American Legion Archie Hay Post, and the Disabled American Veterans.
His interest included hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, carpentry and cutting wood at his cabin.
Survivors include two sons; Jerry Kumer and wife Kathy of Rock Springs, and Jack Coke of Washington; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Clark Kumer; one sister, Thelma Curran, and one grandson.
Cremation has taken place at Fox Funeral Home and memorial services will be conducted at the family cabin next June.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hospice of Sweetwater County.
William H. "Bud" Anderson
William H. "Bud" Anderson, 83, of Gering, Neb., died Dec. 28, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Neb.
He was born Sept. 26, 1920, in Bitter Creek to Robert and Anna Smidt Anderson. He received his early education in the Green River schools and graduated from Lincoln High School in Green River and married
Lorna Evers there in 1942. They moved to Gering in 1964. where he was employed with Union Pacific Railroad. for forty-two years.
He served with the railroad battalion of the U.S. Army in India during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946.
He was an avid fan of the Cornhuskers and the Broncos. He was a lifelong member of the Mount Moriah Masonic Lodge AF & AM in Green River, a member of the Shriners Tangier Temple in Omaha and the Scottsbluff Elks Lodge 1367.
Survivors include his wife Lorna of Gering; daughter and son-in-law, Shari and Wil Packard of Scottsbluff; daughter Jerri Anderson of Granite Falls, Wash.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
IN addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by one sister and one great-grandchild.
Cremation has taken place at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory in Scottsbluff and a private family service was conducted. A memorial has been established to Camp Hope or to the Coronary Unit at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff.
Jennie Marie Hautala
Jennie Marie Hautala, 98, Green River, died Dec. 30 at castle Rock Convalescent Center.
She was born May 7, 1905, in Eveleth, Minn., the daughter of the late Gust and Mary Emelia Jokela Hautala.
She attended schools in Rock Springs and graduated from Rock Springs High School with the class of 1923.
She attended and graduated from the Wyoming General Hospital Training School for Nurses in 1928. She worked as a nursing supervisor at Carbon County Hospital in Rawlins and served as both secretary and president of the Wyoming State Board of Nursing.
She also practices nursing in Utah and California where she received an Outstanding Service Award from the Naval Weapon Center in Corona. She retired from the center in 1969.
In addition to nursing, her great passion was the Order of the Eastern Star where she served as Worthy Grand Matron. She maintained a lifelong membership in the organization.
She enjoyed cooking, knitting, writing, playing bridge, poetry and spending time with her family.
Survivors include two nephews, Richard and Ben Hautala of Rock Springs, and one brother, Roy Hautala of Bellingham, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers; Ben, Wayne and Willie Hautala; one nephew, Robert Hautala, a great nephew and a great niece.
Memorial services will be conducted at a later date.
George Kalivas
George Kalivas, 78, Green River, died Saturday at St. Luke's Presbyterian Hospital in Denver where he had been a patient since Dec. 13.
He was born Oct. 16, 1925, in Longa, Greece, the son of the late James and Efthimia "Malandrinou" Mandros Kalivas.
He attended schools in Green River where he graduated from high school with the class of 1944. He married
Georgia Camis in 1947.
He was employed at General Chemical where he retired as a maintenance mechanic in 1990. He also owned and operated the Hilltop Market for many years.
He was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church, AHEPA Lodge and the United Steel Workers of America Local 15320.
His interests included golf and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Jim Kalivas and wife Alice of Golden, Colo., Tom Kalivas of Westminster, Colo., Ted Kalivas and wife Thea of Green River; one daughter and son-in-law, Joy and Howard Walker of Green River; three brothers, Steve and Gus of Green River and Bill of Pocatello; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Christine; tow brothers, John and Tony Kalivas and one sister, Anna Karellas.
Funeral services will be conducted Jan. 3 at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Rock Springs, the Very Reverend Lukas Kotzakis officiating.
A prayer service will be conducted Friday at 7 p.m. at the Vase Flaming Gorge Chapel in Green River where friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Friday or at the church Saturday until time of services..
Interment will be in Riverview cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Cowboys Against Cancer or the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.
Lee Staley
Lee Staley, 59, of Green River, passed away June 24, 2009, at his home following an illness of one and a half years.
He was born on Dec. 9, 1949 in Rock Springs, the son of Darrell and Lola Clark Staley.
He attended schools in both Green River and Evanston, and was a graduate of the Evanston High School in 1968.
He married
the former Kathy Vehar in Evanston in 1997.
He was a United States Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War.
He worked at Solvay Minerals for 26 years and was a hoistman.
His interests included spending time with his family and friends, hunting, fishing and boating.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 2350.
Survivors include his wife Kathy Staley of Green River; one daughter, Stephanie Grandbouche of Salt Lake City; one stepdaughter, Jennifer LeForce and husband Nathan of Perry, Okla.; one stepson, John Holgate and wife Megan of Rock Springs; one brother, Darrin Staley of Evanston; five sisters, Linda Willoughby and husband Phil of Evanston, Karen Goetz of Farmington, N.M., LaWanna Staley of Evanston, Barbara Anderson and husband Norm of Newport, Mich. and Terrie Hockin and husband Jeff of Casper; four grandchildren, several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother and one brother, Darrell Dee Staley.
Following cremation, memorial services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles 2350 in Green River.

Robert “Robbie” Wayne Routh
Robert “Robbie” Wayne Routh, 24, Rock Springs, passed away June 22 from injuries he received in a car accident.
He was born Oct. 5, 1984, in Rock Springs, the son of John Robert “Bob” Routh and the former Deborah Pitel.
He attended school in Rock Springs and was a graduate of the Independence High School with the class of 2003.
His interests included spending time with his family and friends, hunting, fishing, camping and giving his mother a hard time. He also enjoyed monster trucks, the Demolition Derby, wrestling, kick boxing and he was an avid 49er's football fan.
Survivors include his parents Bob and Debbie Routh of Rock Springs; paternal grandparents Bill and Beverly Routh of Rock Springs; maternal grandmother Wanda Brown of Oakmont, Pa.; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents William Howard Routh and Leatha Platt; J.E. and Phyllis Brinley and Michael and Pauline Pitel.
Following cremation at the Vase White Mountain Crematory, a memorial service will be conducte at 1 p.m. June 27 at the Vase Funeral Chapel in Rock Springs. Bishop Mick Druce will conduct the services.
Friends may call one hour prior to services.
Erma Prevedel
Erma Prevedel, 96, of Rock Springs passed away Jan. 2, 2010, at Castle Rock Convalescent Center in Green River.
A longtime resident of Superior and Rock Springs, Prevedel died following an illness of 1 year.
She was born Nov. 30, 1913, in Arma, Kan., the daughter of the late Charles and Costantina Menghini Niederiaufner.
Prevedel attended school in Superior.
She married
Herman Prevedel Sr. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church on Dec. 31, 1933, and he preceded her in death June 21, 1978.
Her interests included spending time with her family, cooking, sewing and crocheting.
She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Community.
Survivors include two sons Herman Prevedel and wife Judy of Loveland, Colo., and Alfred Prevedel and wife Pat of Rock Springs; one daughter Linda Frolic and husband John of Rock Springs; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters Rena Dalpiaz and Josephine Harper; one brother Alfred Niederiaufner.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 116 Broadway, Rock Springs. A parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at Vase Funeral Chapel, 154 Elk Street, Rock Springs.
Interment will be in the Rock Springs Municipal cemetery.
Friends may call at the Vase Chapel from 4-7 p.m. Thursday and on Friday morning at the Vase Chapel until service time.

Florine Boyle
Florine Boyle, 84, of Green River died Feb. 23, 2010, at Castle Rock Convalescent Center in Green River.
She was born Dec. 7, 1925, in Scottsbluff, Neb., the daughter of Henry and Kathrine Trippel.
She attended schools in Nebraska and later finished her lifelong goal by receiving her high school diploma in Santa Anna, Calif., in 1980.
She married
James Fulton in 1946 in Scottsbluff, Neb. They were later divorced.
She later married
William Boyle on Nov. 23, 1968, in Las Vegas. He preceded her in death July 27, 1999.
Her interests were arts and crafts, painting, sewing, needlepoint and homemaking.
Survivors include daughter, Karen Sue Emmett and husband Thomas of Green River; son Timothy James Fulton of Fort Collins; grandchildren, Judy Ann Grosenick and husband Steve, Charles and Katie Emmett; great-grandchildren, Jessica Jordon, Rebecca Florine Grosenick and Makala Karen Grosenick; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband William Boyle, and two sisters, DeLores Lucker and Gladys Treber.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday at Fox Funeral Home in Rock Springs.
Interment was at Riverview cemetery in Green River.
Clara Norreta "Rita" White Caine
Clara Norreta "Rita" White Caine passed away in Green River, on Oct. 4. She was born Aug. 20, 1937, to Charles J. and Purcie Minnie Curtis White in Provo, Utah. Caine attended Provo schools.
She was married
to Richard John Caine for many years; they later divorced. She retired at an early age and spent the rest of her life as a homemaker.
She loved her daughters with all her heart. Caine had numerous hobbies and talents, including cross stitching and painting. She also loved playing computer games. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly and loved to play cards with them.
She is survived by her daughters, Debora Jo (Brent) Harper of Green River and Donna Jensen of Salt Lake City; as well as four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and brother, Jay White, Riverton. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Carol Parker and grandson, Brandon Jensen.
Graveside services took place Wednesday at East Lawn Memorial Hills in Provo, Utah.
