Mary Armijo
Mary Armijo, 82, Englewood, Colo., died on Sunday at her home following a lengthy illness.
She was born July 17, 1922 in Costilla, N.M., the daughter of the late Juan and Matilda Cordova.
She attended schools in Costilla, and married
Nick Armijo in Rock Springs in 1967. He preceded her in death in 1999.
She was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church.
Her interests included spending time with her family.
Survivors include five sons Elicio Lavato of Montrose, Colo., Bob Lavato of Albuquerque, Felix Cisneros of Rock Springs, Steve Cisneros of Clearfield, Utah and John Cisneros of Denver; two daughters, Rosemarie Gallegos of Denver and Angela Vigil of Pueblo, Colo.; one sister, Roseanna of California; several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Viola Ortiz.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Rock Springs. Interment will be in the Paul J. Wataha Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at the Vase Chapel Thursday morning until time of services.
Sylvania Garrett
Sylvania Garrett, 66, of Little America, died Dec. 3 at her home following an illness of six months.
She was born May 21, 1938, in Jackson, the daughter of the late Harold and Jackie Jump Ross.
She married
John "Jack" Leith Garrett in Jackson in 1965 and he preceded her in death in 2000.
She was employed as a certified nursing assistant and worked in many hospitals throughout Wyoming.
Her interests included crocheting, knitting, reading, traveling, gardening and she was a Girl Scout leader.
Survivors include one son, William "Bill" Reeves of Mead, Wash.; four daughters, Peggy Garrett of Little America, Dixie Schrieber of Evansville, Marie Garner of Yoder, and Roberta Garrett of Lakewood, Colo.; three sisters, Eleana Clark and Dorothy McDerment, both of Jackson, and Roberta Colton of Mableton, Utah; three brothers, Bo Miles and Danny Miles, both of Basin, and Butch Miles of Cheyenne; 13 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Dick Petzoldt.
Funeral services were conducted Monday at the Vase Flaming Gorge Chapel, Rev. Sue Pierce officiating.
Graveside services and interment will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the Garrett Family cemetery in Sussex, Wyo.
The family suggest memorials be made to the Huntsman Cancer Institute, 50 North Medical Drive, AC-135, Salt Lake City, 84132.
Everette Dean "Sarge " Pawleska
Funeral services for Everette Dean "Sarge " Pawleska, 79, of Green River, were conducted yesterday at the Vase Flaming Gorge Funeral Chapel in Green River.
He died Nov. 19 at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County following a lengthy illness.
He was born April 22, 1925, in North Lake, Neb., the son of the late Anton and Flossie Pawleska. He attended schools and graduated from high school there. He married
Lois Beatrice Steele in Green River in 1978 and she preceded him in death in 2000.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
His interests included fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his sister, Evelyn McDonald, sister-in-law Cathy Pawleska, both of Green River; four grandchildren, Leigh Jones, Mike Mitchell, Karen Sheat and Rick Mitchell, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister, one brother-in-law and one sister-in-law.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Sweetwater County.
Frieda Framke Fagnant Little
Frieda Framke Fagnant Little, 95, died at the Castle Rock Convalescent Center in Green River Nov. 13.
She was born on June 15, 1909, in Bremen, Germany, to August Carl Framke and Margaretha Peters de Carne. She came to America as one- year-old child and lived and was raised in Providence, Utah.
She married
Fernand Louis Fagnant on June 25, 1926. Four children were born to this union. She was married
for 27 years. He died on July 5, 1953.
She married
William D. Little on Aug. 20, 1958, and they were married
for 44 years. He passed away in October of 2002.
She was very active in the LDS Church as a choir member for her ward and the Singing Mother's and teaching classes in Relief Society. She especially loved teaching piano to her many students. She won the distinguished Quealy Award and was an active member of the Moose Lodge.
She is survived by two sons, Richard (Betty) Fagnant and Armand (Myrtle) Fagnant, both of Kemmerer; a daughter, Charmaine (Dean) Smith of Green River; a sister, Erma Harris of Arroyo Grande, Calif.; 18 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; three stepchildren, Jean (Carl) Annala, Edie (Spence) Cutrell, Billy (Renae) Little, several step-grandchildren, and several great-great-stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; a son, Gary; and three sisters, Louise, Minnie, and Gladys.
Visitation will be Nov. 17 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.p. at Crandall Funeral Home in Kemmerer, and again one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church.
Funeral services will be Nov. 18 at 10:30 A.M. at the Kemmerer L.D.S. Stake Center. Interment will follow services at the Kemmerer cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial donations be made to the Castle Rock Convalescent Center, 1400 Uinta Dr. Green River, Wyoming 82935.
Arrangements are under the direction of Crandall Funeral Home of Kemmerer.
Jerome Powell
Jerome Powell, 91, Rock Springs, died Dec. 19 at the Castle Rock Convalescent Center in Green River where he had been a resident since 2001.
He was born June 4, 1913, in Superior, the son of the late Elvira and William Powell. He attended schools in Rock Springs and graduated with the class of 1932. He lettered in football and basketball while he was at RSHS.
He was employed by the Union Pacific Coal Company from 1935 until the closure of their operations in 1962. He then went to work for Stauffer Chemical at the Big Island Mine where he was chief powerhouse operator until his retirement in 1978. He then worked part-time as a maintenance man for School District 1.
He was an avid bowler, enjoyed camping, fishing and his family and friends.
He was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Community, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the BPO Elks and the Pacific Woodsmen.
Survivors include two sons, Jerome M. Powell of Grand Junction and William Powell of Superior; two grandchildren; one niece and one nephew.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ann and one brother, Almo Powell.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. at Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, Father Killian Muli officiating. Interment will be in the Rock Springs Municipal cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Rock Springs High School Tiger Pride program.
Joyce Warren
Joyce Warren, 69, Rock Springs, died Dec. 19 at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County following a brief illness.
She was born March 29, 1935 in Rock Springs, the daughter of the late James and Helen Noble Mullen. She attended schools in Superior and graduated with the class of 1955. She married
Donald Warren in 1954 and he preceded her in death in 1990.
She was employed by Mountain States Telephone Company for 25 years and kept the American Legion Auxiliary and Girls' State Programs active.
She was a member of St. Michael of the Archangel's, the BPO Does, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Women's Club and the CFWC.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Anna Warren of Rock Springs and Mark and Susan Warren of cave Creek, Ariz.; one daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and James Ruggera of Rock Springs; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; two sisters-in-law, one cousin, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack and Jim Mullen.
A mass of Christian burial will be conducted tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, Father John Savio officiating. Friends may call at the church until time of services. Interment will be in the Rock Springs Municipal cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Cowboys Against Cancer.
William "Bill" Fletcher Kern
Funeral services for William "Bill" Fletcher Kern, 89, of Green River, were conducted Monday at the Union Congregational Church, Rev. Lisa Hart and the Masonic Lodge officiating.
He died Dec. 15 at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County after having been in ill health for the past two weeks.
He was born March 25, 1915, in Merrysville, Kan., the son of the late George W. Kern and Frances Wolf. He attended schools there and graduated from high school in 1933. He then attended Kansas State University.
He married
Margaret Sylvester in Las Vegas in 1983.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. After military service, he was employed as manager of the Union Pacific Store for 40 years.
He was a member of the Union Congregational Church, Masonic Lodge Temple 18, American Legion Archie Post 24, the Shrine Club of Green River, the Lions Club of Rock Springs and B.P.O. Elks in Rock Springs.
His interests included crossword puzzles, football, traveling and he loved to sing.
Survivors include his wife of Green River; two sisters, Helen Kern and Val Veach and husband Clarence, all of Columbus, Neb; one daughter-in-law Julie Sylvester of Richard, Mich., several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, George; one sister, Betty Wilshinski; and one stepson, Edwin Sylvester.
James Kenneth Clingman
James Kenneth Clingman, 82, Rock Springs, died Dec. 17 at his home following a lengthy illness.
He was born Oct. 14, 1922, in Jay Em, Wyo., the son of the late James Albert and Louise Violet MacDougall Clingman.
He attended schools there and graduated from Torrington High School in 1941. He married
the former Bessie Godby in Newcastle in 1947 and she preceded him in death in 1997.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II. After the war, he worked as an ironworker for many years.
He was a member of the American Legion in Newcastle, a charter member of the American Legion Archie Hay Post 24 in Rock Springs and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He enjoyed the outdoors.
Survivors include two sons, John Clingman of Magnolia, Texas and Ron Clingman of Rock Springs; 13 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
Craig S. Qualset
Craig S. Qualset, 58, of Green River, died Dec. 31 at the Pioneer Hospital in West Valley City, Utah.
He was born June 5, 1945, in Minneapolis to the late Rudolph and Helen Holbrook Qualset.
He graduated from Mankato High School, where he excelled at basketball and baseball. He then graduated from Mankato State College in 1967 and subsequently obtained a masters and education specialist degrees.
He was a public school teacher, counselor and school psychologist and last worked for the Sweetwater School District 1 in Rock Springs.
He was an advocate for children with special needs.
Survivors include a sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Joe Strunka of Fairbanks, Alaska; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Marsha Qualset of Mankato, Minn.; stepmother Marian Qualset of Mankato; special friend, Hester Haraguchi of Rock Springs; one uncle; a nephew and several cousins.
A memorial service is planned at 2 p.m. Jan. 17 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Mankato, with Rev. Paul Meierding officiating.
Private burial services will be conducted at Woodland Hills Memorial Park, Mankato. Visitation will be one hour before services at the church.
Memorials may be sent to Muscular Dystrophy Association, Bethlehem Lutheran Church Infant/Toddler/Youth Building Fund or the donor's choice.
George W. Repp
George W. Repp, 69, Green River, died Jan. 10 at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County in Rock Springs after a sudden illness.
He was born May 8, 1934, in Hunnington, Texas, the son of William J. Repp and Bonnie Irene Schritchfield. He attended schools in Brazorport, Texas, and graduated with the class of 1952 from Brazorport High School. He married
Tammy Taylor in Rawlins in 1975.
He was employed at FMC for 10 years until his retirement in 2000. He was previously a service field representative for various companies.
He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol.
Survivors include his wife of Green River; two sons, Steve Repp and wife Sandy of Connersville, Ind., and Andrew Repp of Green River; two daughters and sons-in-law, Candy and Rick Childs of Fort Collins, Colo., and Wendy and Brayden Copley of Denver; three sisters, Jean Giese and husband Leon and Betty Keith and husband Earl, all of Clute, Texas, and Linda Rooks and husband Gary of Surfside, Texas; seven grandchildren and two great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert Repp.
Funeral services were conducted this morning at the Green River LDS Stake Center in Green River, with Bishop Mark Roberts officiating.
Cremation followed at Fox Crematory.

Stella Scobas
Stella Scobas, 92, Green River, died Jan. 9 at the home of her daughter after having been in ill health for the past 10 months.
She was born Sept. 11, 1910, in Kalamata, Greece, the daughter of the late John and Helen Tsepenekos.
She attended schools there and married
Peter Scobas in 1946. He preceded her in death in 1977.
She was a retired seamstress, a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church and the Society.
Her interests included cooking and spending time with her family.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, George and Mary Scobas of Chandler, Ariz.; one daughter, Georgia Scobas of Green River; one sister, Mary Ziras of Greece; two grandchildren and three nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, John Tsepenekos; and one son-in-law, Tony Spina.
Funeral services will be under the direction of the Schrader Funeral Home in Cheyenne.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Sweetwater County or the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.
Wilbert "Willie" Seehafer
Wilbert "Willie" Seehafer, 82, Wausau, Wis., died Jan. 6 at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital under Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
He was born May 21, 1921, in Rib Falls, Wis., to the late Arthur and Adelia Heise Seehafer.
He married
Myra Oelke in 1942 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stettin, Wis. He worked for the D.J. Murray Co. for 40 years until he retired.
He was a member of the molders and grinders Local Union 408. His interests included hunting, trapping and fishing.
Survivors include his wife Myra; two sons and daughters-in-law, LeRoy and Jean Seehafer of Schofield, Wis., and Eugene and Judy Seehafer of Green River: three daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Daniel Manning of Schofield, Sheila and Paul Burgus of West Burlington, Iowa, and Sara and Brian Jarocki II of Goetsch; 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one brother, Dennis Seehafer of Schofield; and five sisters, Beatrice Glasel of Wausau, Elenore Schlei of Loveland, Colo., Jeannette Prott of Rapid City, S.D., Evangeline Baumann of Wausau, and Vernellen Nehls of Schofield.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Rosemarie Hoffman.
Funeral services were Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wausau. The Rev. Keith Haldeman officiated. Burial will be in Rib View cemetery in Stettin.
