Ketora Franklin
Ketora Franklin, 85, Green River, died Jan. 8 at Castle Rock Convalescent Center in Green River following a lengthy illness.
She was born Oct. 19, 1918, in Belle Fourche, S.D., the daughter of the late George and Charlott Weigan Schleich.
She married
Paul Harvey Franklin in Powell in 1934.
Survivors include her daughter Sharon Olson of Salt Lake City; two sister, Ester Grose and Rose Schaffer; four grandchildren, two great grand-children, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and n husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Harry, George and Adam Schleich; and three sisters, Lily , Alma and Zubora Schleich.
Graveside services and interment were conducted Monday, Pastor Russ Daines officiating.
Elsie Dora Moreland Brown
Elsie Dora Moreland Brown, 86, Green River, died Jan. 18 at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County following a brief illness.
She was born Aug. 10, 1917, in Wakefield, Kan., the daughter of the late William Cyrus and Maria Fair Moreland.
She attended schools in Kansas and married
Robert Charles Brown in 1937 in Junction City, Kan. He preceded her in death in 1983.
She worked at the Moreland Market, owned by her brother, for several years.
Her interests included playing cards, wildlife, horseback riding, gardening and traveling, as well as spending time with her family.
Survivors include one son, Curtis Robert Brown and companion Keitha LaMance of Glenrock; one daughter-in-law, Darla Garvin of Idaho Falls, Idaho; one granddaughter, Jill Musbach and husband Timothy; one grandson, Dalton Smith, all of Green River; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Charles, Oscar, Joseph, Roy Earl and Clay Moreland, and one sister, Lillie Alice Arnold.
Following cremation, a gathering of friends and family will be conducted at the Vase Flaming Gorge Chapel in Green River.
James Herbert "Jim" Hooton
James Herbert "Jim" Hooton, 52, Craig, Colo., died Jan. 10 at his home. He was a resident of Craig for the past year and a former resident of Fort Bridger, Sheridan and Gillette.
He was born Feb. 3, 1951, in Rock Springs, the son of Herbert R. and Leah L. Lind Hooton.
He attended schools in Green River and was a graduate of the Green River High School with the class of 1969. He attended North Western Community College in Powell.
Hooton was employed as an ironworker and welder for Magnum Metals in Craig.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Ironworkers Union No. 27.
His interests included his Harley Davidson motorcycle, fishing and animals.
Survivors include his mother of Green River; one son, Joshua James Hooton; one brother, David Hooton and wife Kathy of Lyman; one sister, Elaine Hymas and husband Dale of Green River; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; and one sister, Kaye L. Newlin.
Services were conducted at the LDS Stake Center in Green River on Jan. 17. interment followed in the Lyman City cemetery.
Mary Katherine McKenzie
Mary Katherine McKenzie, 81, Rock Springs, died Dec. 29 at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County after short illness.
She was born Nov. 4, 1922, in Clinton, Ind. the daughter of the late Patrick and Agnes P. Wilson Campbell. She attended schools in Rock Springs and graduated from Rock Springs High School.
She married
Earl W. McKenzie in 1926 and he preceded her in death last April .
She was employed at Sweetwater County Sheriff's Department as a lieutenant until her retirement in 1990. She was a lifetime member of the Wyoming Peace Officers Association, Order of the Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary and the First Baptist Church.
Her interests included gardening, trips to Las Vegas and her home.
Survivors include her daughter Sandra Peterson of Rock Springs; one son and daughter-in-law, Patrick Earl and Paula McKenzie of Cody; her sister Patsy Huxford; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother-in-law Floyd Huxford, and nephew Perry Huxford.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Fox Funeral Home where friends may call tomorrow from noon until 8 p.m. and Friday one hour prior to services.
Sue Pierce will conduct the services and interment will be in the Mountain View Section of the Rock Springs Municipal cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cowboys Against Cancer.
Lloyd "Shorty" Carr
Lloyd "Shorty" Carr, 84, Rock Springs, died Feb. 5 at his home following a brief illness.
He was born July 9, 1919, on the White Earth Sioux Reservation in Fertile, Minn., the son of the late Harry and Lena Knutson Carr.
He attended schools in Minnesota and Montana and Married Selma Larson in Montana in 1952. She preceded him in death in 1975.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Rangers in World War II and was employed by Stauffer Chemical for 19 years until he retired in 1982.
He was a member of the BPO Elks Lodge, the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the American Legion Archie Hay Post.
His interests included hunting, and fishing when he was young and world travel and many hobbies in later years.
Survivors include three sons, Harry Carr and Tom Carr, both of Rock Springs, and Richard Carr of Las Vegas, Nev.; two daughters, Debbie Ellis and Penny Carr, both of Colorado Sprigs; one brother, Edgar Carr of Yakima, Wash.; three grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Frank Carr; one sister, Emily Huck and one grandson.
Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the Vase Funeral Chapel in Rock Springs. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Garden.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Young at heart Senior Center in Rock Springs.
Rosalia A. Ramos
Rosalia A. Ramos, 78, Green River, died Sunday at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County following a lengthy illness.
She was born May 15, 1925, in Mora, N.M., the daughter of the late Jose R. and Piedad Serna Olivas Montoya.
She attended schools in Mora, N.M., and graduated high school there with the class of 1943.
She married
Alfred Serna of Las Vegas, N.M.; and they later divorced. She later married
Pablo Martin Ramos in Santa Fe, N.M.
Survivors include two brothers Leo Montoya and wife Felicia of Green River and Joe F. Montoya and wife Cassie; and one sister Manuelita Martinez of Rawlins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sons, Crecinco Serna and Dannie Serna.
Following cremation at the Vase White Mountain Crematory, memorial services will be announced at a later date.
Keith Leroy Hodges
Keith Leroy Hodges, 34, a lifetime resident of Green River died Monday at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County.
He was born Feb. 20, 1969, in Rock Springs, the son of Mark Keith Hodges and Judith Ann Scott.
He attended schools in Green River and was a Green River High School graduate with the class of 1987. He also attended the University of Wyoming and Central Wyoming Community College.
He married
Lisa May on June 6, 1987 in Green River.
Hodges was employed as a miner and roof bolter at OCI. He was a member of the Green River City Council and a member of the Flaming Gorge Days Committee.
His interests included snowmobiling, hunting and bareback rodeo horseback riding.
Survivors include his wife Lisa of Green River; father Mark Hodges of Green River; mother Judith Ann Darling of Austin, Texas; two sons, Garrett Thomas Hodges and Clayton Joseph Hodges, both of Green River; daughter Kimberlee Janell Hodges of Green River; one brother Kenneth Legg of Austin, Texas; one sister Kimberly Ann Curry and husband Daniel of Ozark, Ala.; two uncles Richard Hodges and wife Anndale and Gary Hodges and wife Betty; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and one uncle.
Funeral services are scheduled at 11 a.m. Feb. 6 at the Island Pavilion in Green River. Pastor Wayne of the Worldwide Church of God will conduct the services.
Interment will be in the Riverview cemetery.
Friends may call at Vase Flaming Gorge Chapel Thursday from 4-8 p.m. and Friday one hour prior to services.
John 'Jack' G. Privitt
John 'Jack' G. Privitt, 79, Green River died Saturday at Castle Rock Convalescent Center following an illness of one year.
He was born Oct. 3, 1924, in Shirley, Ark., the son of the late John C. Privitt Sr. and Hazel Irene Bradford.
He attended schools in Shirley, Ark. and married
Beverlee Ford in 1946, in Elko, Nev. She preceded him in death in 1990.
Privitt was a United States Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He was employed by the Southern Pacific Rail Road for 53 years and retired as a conductor in 1989.
He was a member of the Baptist Church and American Veterans of Foreign Wars.
His interests included meeting and talking with people, railroad, mountain climbing, telling stories and jokes, animals and most of all spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include two sons, Lloyd Privitt and wife Venita of Sparks, Nev., and Ben Privitt and companion Susie Nelson of Green River; three daughters, Linda Ollis of Rock Springs, Jacquelyn Coplin and husband Jim of Superior and Cynthia Privitt of Salt Lake City; one brother Peter M. Privitt of Spring Creek, Nev.; one sister Norma Ruth Stanford of Austin, Texas; one brother-in-law LB. Ford of Mesa, Ariz.; a former daughter-in-law June Privitt of Rock Springs; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Doris Watson and Marion Hall.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. this evening at Vase Flaming Gorge Funeral Chapel. Rev. Jim Coplin will conduct the services.
Friends may call at the chapel one hour prior to the services.
Grave side services and interment is scheduled at 1 p.m. Feb. 6 at the Carlin cemetery in Carlin, Nev., Rev. Coplin officiating.
Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Friday at the Burns Funeral Home in Elko, Nev.

Tammy Lynn Walton
Tammy Lynn Walton, 38, Rock Springs, died Oct. 9, at the Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County after having been in ill health for the past four years.
She was born June 27, 1965, in Gass Hills, Calif., the daughter of Jerry and Linda Rime Fleetwood.
She attended schools in Rock Springs and married
Michael J. Walton.
Survivors include her husband; four sons, Jeremy L. Walton, Joshua J. Walton, DeWayne F. Brashier, Austin Harley Brashier all of Rock Springs; three daughters, Patricia R. Brashier, Cory Jamie Brashier and Tara M. Walton, all of Rock Springs; one brother, Richard Bell of Arkansas; two sisters, Christie and LeAnn Bell of Rock Springs; three granddaughters; Jezabel, Mykel and Chloe.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Renee Bell and her two former husbands Gary Huges and Thomas Powell.
Following cremation at the Vase White Mountain Crematory, a memorial service was conducted this evening at her home.
Allan Omar Loredo
Allan Omar Loredo, 20, Rock Springs, died Saturday at the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City.
He was born Nov. 1, 1983, in Rock Springs, the son of Jose Guadalupe and Yolanda Ramos Loredo.
He attended schools in Rock Springs and was a member of the Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church.
His interests included playing basketball and spending time with his daughter, family and friends.
Survivors include his parents, Jose and Yolanda Loredo; one daughter, Tatianna Loredo and her mother Star Ray, all of Rock Springs; two brothers, Alex Loredo of Rock Springs and Lupe Loredo of Encinitas, Calif.; his paternal grandparents Rosalio and Rosa Loredo of San Luis, Potoci, Mexico; his maternal grandparents Felipe and Maria Ramos of Deming, N.M.; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his uncle Osbaldo Giner.
A mass of Christian burial was celebrated this morning at Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church. Father Dennis Cloonan officiated.
Cremation followed at the Vase White Mountain Crematory.
Dave Tyler
Dave Tyler, 46, Green River, died Feb. 6 at his home following a sudden illness. He was born Nov. 19, 1957, in Rock Springs, the son of Don and Elizabeth Stanton Tyler.
He attended schools in Rock Springs and was a graduate of Rock Springs High School with the class of 1976. While at RSHS, he played football and was named an all-American football player.
He was employed as a mechanic for FMC for 26 years and was in the Surface Maintenance Department at the time of his death.
Survivors include one son, Tyson Tyler of Green River; his parents of Rock Springs; one sister Mary Kay Tyler of Rock Springs; three brothers, Ron Tyler and wife Chris, Don Tyler and wife Kaye, and Ted Tyler and wife Gwen, all of Rock Springs; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Ritchey and Margaret Thomas Stanton; paternal grandparents, Rey and Opal Tyler; one brother Ken Tyler, one nephew and one aunt.
Funeral services were conducted this morning at Vase Funeral Chapel. interment followed at the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
The family requests memorials be made to the Dave Tyler Memorial Fund in care of Rock Springs National Bank.
Charlotte Tate
Charlotte Tate, 88, Colorado Springs, Colo., died Feb. 8 at the home of her son following a brief illness.
She was born Nov. 4, 1915, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of the late Charles and Genevieve Barrowman Hazard.
She attended school in Arlington, Iowa, and graduated there in 1933.
She married
L. Floyd Tate in Arlington in 1937 and he preceded her in death in 1950.
She worked as a librarian for Colorado College for 20 years until her retirement in 1982.
Her interests included spending time with her family and doing volunteer work for the Ecumenical Social Ministries in Colorado Springs.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Charles and JoAnn Tate of Rock Springs, and four grandchildren, including David Tate of Rock Springs.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Hugh Merrill Hazard; one son, Terry Tate; and one grandson.
Following cremation, memorial services will be conducted Feb. 21 in Colorado Springs.
