Mahlon McKinley Grubb
Mahlon McKinley Grubb passed away at his home in Pinedale on Aug. 3,2003.
Mahlon was born on Valentine's Day 1932 to Signora Julia Pollard and Sherman McKinley Grubb in Kemmerer. Mahlon graduated from Kemmerer High School in 1950, then went to work for the Union Pacific Railroad in Idaho Falls before entering the U.S. Army and serving in the Korean War from 1953-1955.
Upon returning from Korea he went to work for FMC Corporation and finally served as general mine superintendent.
Mahlon married
Gail Grubb in 1985 and they moved to Pinedale in 1991, where he built and lived in his dream home.
He is preceded in death by his mother; father; step-father Liew Roberts; sister Lois Grubb; and son Mike Grubb.
He is survived by his wife Gait, daughter Melanie and her husband Gary, grandchildren Jake, and Molly; stepdaughter Kari Carter and husband Joe; grandchildren Caleb, Hannah and Cameron; Karol Hodges and husband Robert and grandson Kadin; sister Carol Bigler husband Ken; their sons Wes andTerry Bigler.
A memorial service will be in Pinedale at St. Andrews in the Pines Episcopal Church at 1 p.m. Aug. 7.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Kickin' Cancer in Sublette County Charity, Box 383, Daniel, Wyoming 83113.
Casey E. Condos
Casey E. Condos, 44, born to Sylvia Jean Davidson Condos and George Wayne Condos, July 15, 1959 in Evanston, died Aug. 9 in a motorcycle accident.
He is survived by his wife, Katy Condos; his son, Sterling Condos; daughters McKinna (Cam) Easling, Jennifer Covolo, Jaime Condos, and Natalie Condos; brothers Steve Condos, John Condos, Monte Condos, and Michael Condos; sisters Janet, Maxfield and Kathy Davis; grandchildren Alyssa Condos, Marlie and Carson Easling, and Shandyn, Trevon and Jaidyn Covolo.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Condos; and his son, Christopher Condos.
He was raised in Urie and graduated from Lyman High School. A Wyoming native, Condos chose to make his home in Sheridan, where his wife and daughter Jaime reside.
Casey enjoyed spending time with his family.
A private family memorial service has taken place.
Arthur Paul Gustke II
Arthur Paul Gustke II, 46, Green River, died Aug. 29 due to injuries sustained in a car accident outside Oklahoma City, Okla.
He was born in Mesa, Ariz. on Feb. 20, 1957, to Don and Marlene Gustke and then spent most of his childhood growing up on the family farm in Halfway, Mo.
He graduated from Buffalo High School in 1975. Shortly after, in 1977, he was married
to Sandra Righter. They were later divorced.
He later married
Joann Little and they were also divorced.
He then met Sherry Siler and she died of cancer in 2002.
During this time, he worked at General Chemical, until a lay-off led him to a job with Chevron Chemical. He stayed with Chevron Chemical until early this spring.
He enjoyed rock and roll and had an extensive album and CD collection, as well as a state-of-the-art stereo system. He enjoyed Oldsmobiles, rebuilding motors, and fast old cars. He loved driving the desert in his 1972 Blazer.
Survivors include his daughter Leannda Ruth Gustke of Indian Valley, Idaho; his son Matthew Gustke and wife and Adrian; his granddaughter Sydnie Alexandra Gustke, all of Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nev.; one sister, Cindy Gustke and his parents, Don and Marlene Gustke of Buffalo, Mo.
He was preceded in death by maternal and paternal grandparents, his brother John, and companion Sherry Siler.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or Cowboys against Cancer.
A memorial will be conducted at a later date.
Augustine "Augie" Marcy
Augustine "Augie" Marcy, 91, Rock Springs, died Aug. 30 at Sage View Care Center where she had been a resident for two weeks.
She was born Dec. 7, 1911 in Sweetwater, the daughter of the late Joseph and Augustine Ginies Marcy. She attended schools in Rock Springs where she graduated with the class of 1929.
She was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
She worked as a clerk at Bi-Rite Drugs for 20 years until her retirement in 1973.
She was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, the American Legion, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 151 and the Young at Heart Senior Center.
Her interests included reading, traveling and spending time with her family.
Survivors include three nieces and nephews; seven great nieces and nephews and nine great great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Alphonsine Kennedy, Regia Marcy and Frances Corres; one brother, Fernand Marcy; one niece and one nephew.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be conducted Sept. 8 at 10 a.m. at the Vase Funeral Chapel in Rock Springs. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. at the chapel and again on Monday one hour before service.
A parish rosary will be recited Sept. 7 at the chapel at 7 p.m.. Father Dennis Cloonan will officiate.
Inurnment will be in the Rock Springs Municipal cemetery.
Kenneth Kraft
Kenneth Kraft died Aug. 1 in La Junta, Colo.
Her attended schools in Ordway, Colo. and Green River. While in Green River, he became an EMT and a member of the search and rescue team. He also participated in rodeos as a bare-back rider.
At various times, he worked as a mechanic, truck driver and cowboy.
He married
Kathy Betts in Three Forks, Mont., in 1988.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy "Kate" Kraft of Ordway, Colo.; parents, Everett and Doris Kraft, Green River; one son and daughter-in-law, Chance and Corley Smith, Bozeman, Mont.; sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Tim Griffith, Green River; several aunts and uncles; one nephew, two nieces and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Emma Kraft.
At his request there was cremation at Southern Colorado Crematorium in Pueblo, Colo. A celebration of life was conducted Aug. 15 at John Butler VFW Post 336 in Ordway. Jerry Ashida, River of Life Fellowship, officiated.
Private inurnment will follow at a later date on the family ranch.
Yuk Ling Ng
Yuk Ling Ng, 76, New York City, died Aug. 14, at NYU Hospital in New York City after a lengthy illness.
She was born Dec. 25, 1926, in Taishan, Guangdong Province, China, the daughter of Duan Ken Wong and Yan Mon Fong.
She attended schools in China and married
Kai Min Ng in 1948 in China. She later moved to Hong Kong in 1964 and lived there until moving to the United States in 1985 and then Rock Springs in 1986. In 1988, she moved to New York City to be close to her sisters.
Her interest were Chinese classical opera, Cantonese movies, creative cooking and spending time with her family.
She is survived by one son, Paul Ng and wife Betty of Rock Springs; three sisters, Yuk Yeek Wong Fong, Yuk Ping Wong Lee, and Yuk Chun Wong Joe, all of New York City; one granddaughter, Jessica Ng of Rock Springs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Kai Min Ng and a brother, Guo Han Wong.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Fox Funeral Home in Rock Springs where friends may call 5-7 p.m. Thursday and Friday one hour prior to the services.
Interment will be in the Rock Springs Municipal cemetery.
Preston Freidt
A memorial service for Preston Freidt, 51, formerly of Dickinson, S.D., is scheduled tomorrow at 2 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Dickinson with Pastor Patricia Higgins officiating.
He died Sept. 8, in Temecula, Calif.
He was born Dec. 13, 1951, in Williston, N.D. to Frank and Maxine Murray Freidt. He attended schools in the Watford and Belfield areas and enlisted in the United States Navy in 1969. He served two tours in Vietnam.
He worked in the oil and gas industry, drove truck for Koch Oil and worked for Tenneco Oil
He married
Amiee Heim Bachmeier in Dickinson in 1988 and they moved to Gillette in 1992 and last May they moved to Green River where he began working at Shute Creek Gas Plant.
Survivors include his wife, Amiee Freidt of Green River; one son, Capt. Jason Freidt and wife Bobbie Hoessle of Ft. Stewart, Ga; three daughters, Cherie Lauridsen and husband J.T. of Temecula, Calif., Shonda Feddema and husband Grant and Gerri Ann Bachmeier, all of Denver; one sister, Vici Murphy of Hillsboro, Kan. and three granddaughters, Maggie Lauridsen and Ashlyn and Ivy Feddema.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the local chapter of the Red Cross.
Glen Alfred Larson
Glen Alfred Larson, 83, Torrington, died Sept. 12 at the Castle Rock Convalescent Center.
He was born April 11, 1920, in Cokeville, the son of the late Albert John and Bertha Lorraine Twiss Larson.
He attended schools there and married
Sadie Mae Patterson Twiss in 1943.
He was a retired rancher and a member of the Episcopal Church.
Survivors include his wife of Torrington; one son and daughter-in-law, Stanley C. and Eileen Larson of Torrington; one daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Jack Lloyd of Rock Springs; one brother, Don Larson and wife Bonnie of Cokeville; two sisters, Mae Jean Julian of Kemmerer and Frieda Jackson of Salt Lake City; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, several cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, one sister and three daughters.
Following cremation a memorial service was conducted in Cokeville.
Marie Berrie
Marie Berrie, 75, Green River, died Tuesday at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County after having been in ill health for the past three years.
She was born Sept. 9, 1928, in Redford, Kan., the daughter of the late Albert R. and Elsie Mae Williams Wark.
She attended schools there and graduated with the class of 1946. She then attended Emporia College in Emporia, Kan.
She was employed for 20 years by Vitral Laboratories where she assembled computers. She then went to work for General Dynamics where she retired in 1993.
She had many talents including making jewelry, quilting and sewing.
Survivors include one son, Chad Berrie, one daughter and son-in-law, Samantha and Robert Young, all of Green River; two step-sons, Leroy Berrie and wife Chrystal and Rodger Berrie, all of Tucson, Ariz.; one brother, Darrel Wark and wife Valerie of Colby, Kan.; 11 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; three step grandchildren, two step great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers.
Following cremation, memorial services will be conducted Monday at 10 a.m. at the vase Flaming gorge chapel in Green River.
Preston Freidt

Garie Douglas Kutz
Garie Douglas Kutz, 59, died July 28, 2003, in Green River.
He was born April 18, 1944 , the son of Arthur and Thelma Elaine Widic Kutz. He attended schools in Green River and married
Peggy Corhn in Rock Springs. They were later divorced.
He was active in Golden Gloves Boxing Association and Boy Scouts of America. He worked on the Flaming Gorge Dam during construction and later attended flight training school in Broomfield, Colo. He was a flight instructor for WWCC at the Rock Springs Airport. He spent the last 8 years in the Phoenix area, and recently returned to Green River.
He is survived by three daughters, Tammy Mowland and husband Dale of Rock Springs, Lorena May Cathey and husband Johnny of Sioux Falls, S.D. and Jorena Kay Lasich of Linwood, Wash.; two sisters, Gaye Winter and husband Don of Green River and Joy Dawn Gilbert of Las Vegas; half-brother Kevin Karician and wife Lanie of Roy, Utah; two half sisters, Danita Traxinger, and husband Owen, and Misty Karician/Zimmerman and husband Scott and stepfather Harry Karician, all of Green River; maternal grandmother Pearl Zimmerman of Green River.
He was preceded in death by a sister Merrily Joan Kutz Hussman and nephews Shaun Michael Kutz and Douglas Ray Bernard, and his mother, Elaine Karician.
Cremation will take place and a memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Vase Flaming Gorge Chapel in Green River.
Friends may call one hour prior to services.
Helen Ileen Taggart
Helen Ileen Taggart, 88, died Sept. 24 at Castle Rock Convalescent Center where she spent the last two years.
She was born Feb. 4, 1915, in Seattle, the daughter of the late Arthur McClellan and Elizabeth Parker. She graduated from high school in Portland, Ore., and received her teaching degree from Multnomah Bible College.
She taught school for several years before she met and married
Ferris Ketch. He preceded her in death. She moved to Salt Lake City where she received her RN and bachelor of science degrees from St. Mary's of the Wasatch and Holy Cross School of Nursing.
She married
Ross Taggart in the Cathedral of the Madeline in Salt Lake City in 1950. He also preceded her in death.
She worked as head nurse at the Shriners Hospital, retiring at age 65. She was a lifelong member of the Catholic church. She has been a resident of Green River for the last few years so she could be close to her daughter, Jeanine "Tag" West, her son in-law, Dr. Don West and her seven grandchildren.
She had a great love for the symphony and the ballet.
Survivors include her son Michael Taggart of Salt Lake City; and her daughter and son -in-law Jeanine "Tag" West and Dr. Don West of Green River; seven grandchildren, Heather, Joseph, Katie, Samuel, Spencer, Isaac, and Eli West, all of Green River.
Graveside services and interment were conducted Monday at Mt. Calvary cemetery in Salt Lake City.
Alfred "Bobo" Bozner Sr.
Alfred "Bobo" Bozner Sr., 83, Rock Springs, died Sept. 24, at the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City had been a patient for one day.
He was born Aug. 26, 1920, in Rock Springs, the son of the late Frank and Mary Buh Bozner.
He attended schools in Rock Springs and married
Ann Margaret Jelaco in Ogden in 1941.
He was a retired coal miner, having worked for the Union Pacific Coal Company and also had been employed as a miner for FMC for 42 years and retired in 1983.
He was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Community, Cowboy Joe Club, and was past president of the Quarterback Club,
Survivors include his wife of Rock Springs; two sons and daughters-in-law, Al and Phyllis Bozner of Rock Springs and Dr. Richard and Candice Bozner of Corona, Calif.; one daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Roger Battisti of Boise, Idaho; one sister, Molly Meyers of Salmon, Idaho; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Lewis, Max, John, Joe and Carl and three sisters, Angela Yenko, Annie Finnegan and Mary Zupence.
A mass of Christian burial was conducted at the Saint Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Rock Springs. Interment was in the Rock Springs Municipal cemetery.
