Justine Toth Stanko
Justine Toth Stanko, 90, of Pinedale, died Saturday at the Sublette Center in Pinedale.
She was born April 26, 1910 in Rock Springs, the daughter of the late Albert B. and Justine Sabol Toth.
She attended schools in Rock Springs and married
Albert J. Stanko in Green River in 1950. He preceded her in death in 1972.
She was a volunteer for the Rock Springs Humane Society and a member of the Our Lady of Peace Catholic Parish.
She enjoyed celebrating holidays, family gatherings, spending time with nieces and nephews, caring for pets and writing letters.
Survivors include her brother, Albert Toth, of Pinedale; niece and nephews Marilyn Dorrence, James and Gregory Toth; grand nieces Julie Smith, Marie Dorrence, and Tina Marie Toth; grand nephews Michael Dorrence and Daniel Toth; three great grand nephews and one great grand niece.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Victor and Andrew Toth and sister, Mary West.
Following cremation at the Vase White Mountain Crematory, private family services will take place.
Her family requests that memorials be made to the Rock Springs Humane Society.
Junior B. Winkel
Junior B. Winkel, 65, died at his home on the Swanson Johnson Ranch, southwest of Saratoga on Saturday.
He was born on Aug. 31, 1936 in Malta, Mont., the son of Britten W. and Mary L. Winkel. He married
Gladys M. Dingus in 1987 in Green River.
He served his country in the U.S. Army retiring after 24 years of service.
He is survived by his wife; his mother, Mary Phares, of Green River; his children; Ronnie Gray of Washington, Britt Winkel of New Mexico and Beth Winkel of Washington; three brothers, Bue Winkel, of Malta, Mont., Ralph Winkel of Green River and Lee Winkel of Logan, Utah; one sister, Mary Day Merserve of Seattle and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Memorial services for family and friends will be tomorrow at 11 a.m. at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge in Green River.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Rostad Mortuary of Rawlins.
Jennie K. Dotson, 96
Jennie K. Dotson, 96, of Green River, died Feb. 18 at the Castle Rock Convalescent Center.
She was born Oct. 17, 1906, in Astoria, Wash., to Norwegian immigrants Hans and Thora Ougendal. She was a first generation American.
She was raised Lutheran, baptized May 23, 1907 at the Chinook Evangel Lutheran Church of Chinook, Wash. She was confirmed June 4, 1922.
After graduating form IIwaco High School in 1926, she attended the Washington State Normal School in Bellingham, Wash. where she graduated with the class of 1929.
She took a teaching position at the Sanders School west of Sidney, Mont.
She married
Lora Dotson Dec. 24, 1929, in Sidney and they moved to a farm in 1942 where they remained until 1991. She was a member of the Lonsdale Methodist Church in Sidney for 50 years.
She lived with her daughter and son-in-law in Utah until 1994 then moved to Green River.
Survivors include one brother; Art Ougendal; three daughters and sons-in-law, Marcella and Hurd of Lindsey, Texas, Margie and Kenneth Patch of Roanoke, Ind. and Marlene "Pepper" and Gene Sattler of Green River; six granddaughters; one grandson; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and forty nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, one sister and an infant daughter, Marilyn.
Following cremation at the Vase White Mountain Crematory, a memorial service was conducted Feb. 23 at the Green River United Methodist Church, Rev. Tom Barlow officiating.
A memorial service will also be conducted June 28 in Sidney, Mont.
John Arthur Anson III, 68
John Arthur Anson III, 68, of Green River, died Nov. 6 at his residence.
He was born Feb. 27, 1934, in Mountain View, the son of the late John Arthur II and Blanche Durrant Anson.
He attended schools in Mountain View and married
Minnie Whitticar in 1956 in Granger. She preceded him in death in 1994. He was a member of the BPO Elks Lodge No. 624 and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include four sons John Anson, Michael Anson and wife Tracie, James Anson, Scott Anson and wife Rachel, all of Green River; two daughters Valenkaye Myers of Rock Springs and Tracie Lee Myers and husband Harold of Soda Springs, Idaho; two brothers Richard ad Leslie Anson, both of Lyman; two sisters Patsy Sims of Medicine Bow and Barbara Buhunin of McKinnon; 17 grandchildren; four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Elaine Casewell.
Following cremation at the Vase White Mountain Crematory, a memorial service was conducted today at the Vase Flaming Gorge Chapel in Green River. Father Tom Sheridan of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church conducted the services.
Mahlon McKinley Grubb
Mahlon McKinley Grubb passed away at his home in Pinedale on Aug. 3,2003.
Mahlon was born on Valentine's Day 1932 to Signora Julia Pollard and Sherman McKinley Grubb in Kemmerer. Mahlon graduated from Kemmerer High School in 1950, then went to work for the Union Pacific Railroad in Idaho Falls before entering the U.S. Army and serving in the Korean War from 1953-1955.
Upon returning from Korea he went to work for FMC Corporation and finally served as general mine superintendent.
Mahlon married
Gail Grubb in 1985 and they moved to Pinedale in 1991, where he built and lived in his dream home.
He is preceded in death by his mother; father; step-father Liew Roberts; sister Lois Grubb; and son Mike Grubb.
He is survived by his wife Gait, daughter Melanie and her husband Gary, grandchildren Jake, and Molly; stepdaughter Kari Carter and husband Joe; grandchildren Caleb, Hannah and Cameron; Karol Hodges and husband Robert and grandson Kadin; sister Carol Bigler husband Ken; their sons Wes andTerry Bigler.
A memorial service will be in Pinedale at St. Andrews in the Pines Episcopal Church at 1 p.m. Aug. 7.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Kickin' Cancer in Sublette County Charity, Box 383, Daniel, Wyoming 83113.
Robert Kuckert
Robert Kuckert, 63, Green River, passed away on Aug. 4, 2003. He has been in ill health for the past three months.
He was born on May 19, 1940, in Keif, N.D., the son of William and Lillian Krien Kuckert. He attended schools in McCluskey, N.D., and graduated from the McClusky High School with the Class of 1958.
He married
the former Louis Flores in Green River on Aug. 7, 1964. He served in the U.S. Army.
He was an accountant at General Chemical, a maintenance man for the railroad and School District 2 and also owned and operated an auto body shop.
He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, F.O. Eagles 2350 in Green River and the American Legion in Martin, S.D. He enjoyed tinkering and restoring old cars.
Survivors include his wife, Louise of Green River; his mother, Lillian Kuckert of New Salem, N.D.; one son, William S. Kuckert of Green River; one daughter, Susan L. Gazewood and husband Brian of Kennewick, Wash.; four grandchildren, Arianna and Jett Kuckert and Jacob and Jackie Gazewood; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his father.
A mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Aug. 8 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 900 Hitching Post Dr., Green River. A parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment will be in the Riverview cemetery. Monsignor Eugene Sullivan will officiate.
Friends may call at the church Thursday evening from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday at the church until time of services.

Louise Sylvia Lesko
Louise Sylvia Lesko, 86, Rock Springs, died July 30 at the Sage View Care Center in Rock Springs.
She was born Feb. 5, 1917, in Olmitz, Iowa, the daughter of the late Charles Del Pierce and Marie Vanderecken Del Pierce.
She attended schools in Williamson, Iowa, and graduated there with the class of 1935. She married
Andy Lesko in 1936 in Lancaster, Mo. He preceded her in death in 1985.
She was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Leon and Frances Lesko of Rock Springs; one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Arthur Pivic of Rock Springs; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Lois Ann; four brothers, John, Leon, Charles and Phillip; and four sisters, Charlotte, Madeline, Lucille and Mary.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday at the Vase Funeral Chapel in Rock Springs, Father John Savio officiating.
Interment was in the Paul J. Wataha section of the Rock Springs cemetery.
Ann Painovich
Ann Painovich, 92, Rock Springs, passed away at 1:45 p.m. Aug. 4, 2003, at her granddaughters residence in Rock Springs. She had been in ill health for the past 3 weeks.
She was born on May 26, 1911, in Rock Springs, the daughter of the late John and Julia Murinko Fabiny. She attended schools in Rock Springs and quit school after 6 years to help take care of 7 younger brothers and sisters.
She married
Milan Painovich in Rock Springs and he preceded her in death in Rock Springs in November of 1972.
She was a retired waitress and hotel clerk, having worked for the Park Hotel in Rock Springs for many years. She retired in the late 1960s.
She was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Her interests included cooking, baking and crocheting.
Survivors include one sister, Agnes Aho of Newcastle; two sisters-in-law, Gloria Fabiny and Freida Painovich, both of Rock Springs; two grandchildren, Steve Painovich of Eden and Barbara Bogataj of Rock Springs; two great-grandchildren, Amber Knapp and husband Norm and Stephanie Jasperson and husband Jon; two great-great-grandchildren, Ashtyn Jasperson and Alexis Knapp; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, Kenneth "Skip" and Wayne; four brothers, John, Steve, Andy and George; and two sisters, Louise Carmichael and Kay Bucho.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Aug. 7, 2003, at the Vase Funeral Chapel, 154 Elk Street, Rock Springs. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Vase Funeral Chapel. Father John Savio will officiate. Interment will be in the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Rock Springs. Friends may call at the Vase Funeral Home Wednesday afternoon and evening until 8 p.m. and Thursday until time of services.
The family will be receiving friends and family at 1011 Rosewood Drive in Rock Springs.
Alfred H. Taylor
Alfred H. Taylor, 69, Rock Springs, died Aug. 3 at his home after a lengthy illness.
He was born April 29, 1934, in Syracuse, N.Y., the son of Harry and Edith Bouffler Taylor.
He attended Minoa Elementary and Smith Technical School in New York, graduating in 1952. He married
Carol Stoddard in 1954 in Eastwood, N.Y.
He was a founding member and past president of the Southern Oswego Volunteer Ambulance Corp. and also a member of Caughdenoy New York Fire Department where he served as a fireman and E.M.T.
He had been employed with security by A.D.T. in New York and as a mechanic with T.G. Soda Ash in Wyoming until his retirement in 1997.
He was a member of the Green River Alliance Church. His interests included fishing, hunting, traveling, and his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of Rock Springs; two sons, Mark Taylor of Green River, and Alan Taylor of Rock Springs; four daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn and David Dean of Casper, Nancy and Corey Hymas, Sandra and Calvin Page, and Lori and Randy Koloff, all of Green River; 15 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, four nieces, three nephews, several uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Olive Bowker, Jean Higgins, and Joan Joly, and one nephew, Vincent Joly.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. tomorrow at the Green River Alliance Church. Rev. Mike McConnell will officiate.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. this evening at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs, and Thursday one hour prior to the services at the church.
Interment will take place in the Riverview cemetery in Green River.
Virginia Elizabeth Winford
Virginia Elizabeth Winford, 33, Rock Springs, died July 29 at her home.
She was born July 5, 1970, in Oxnard, Calif., the daughter of James Frasher and Amelia Fralicker Winford.
She attended schools in California, Green River and Benton City, Wash.
Her interests included bowling, computers, reading and embroidering.
Survivors include her parents, James Winford and wife Danda of California and Edith Conner and husband Randy of Rock Springs; three sons, Randy Baum, Jerry Baum and Andy Baum, all of Utah; two daughters, Amber Baum of Rock Springs and Emily Baum of Utah; three brothers, Jeff Iverson and Jason Winford, both of California, and Jody Conner of Rock Springs; her grandparents, Betty and Hank Jorgensen of Nevada, Sam and Louise Conner of Rock Springs and Warren and Erna Dowling of California; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Jimmie Winford and grandmothers Zelda Pierce and Virginia Cheeks.
Funeral service were conducted Monday at the Vase Funeral Home in Rock Springs. Interment was in the Rock Springs Municipal cemetery.
The family requests memorial be made to the Donovan Iverson Trust Fund, c/o Danda Winford, 720 Burnell St., Napa, Calif. 94559. Donovan is a nephew who has muscular dystrophy.
Barbara Ann Carroll
Barbara Ann Carroll, 42, Green River, died Aug. 7 at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake from complications of pulmonary hypertension.
She was born in Evanston, on Feb. 4, 1961 to Clifford and Elda Wickham.
She loved visiting, service, reunions, organizing family activities, and following her children in all of their activities.
She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She is survived by her husband Richard E. Carroll, her children Amber Dawn, Alicia Mae, Nathan Dean, Ashlee Louise, and Jordan David; two sons-in-law Joshua Feller and Ben Richins: one grandchild; her parents, Clifford and Elda Wickham, sisters Tammy Redmon ad husband Tom, Teresa Hutchinson and husband Gary and Donna Poras; mother and father-in-law Donald and Sharol Carroll; Grandma Olive Putnam, Grandpa Leo Wickham, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by brother James Ray Wickham, Grandma Geneva Wickham, Grandpa Elden Putnam.
Services were conducted Tuesday in the Green River Stake Center and graveside services followed in the Lyman cemetery.
Frances A. DeHerrera
Frances A. DeHerrera, 83, Rock Springs, passed away Aug. 4, 2003, at her home. Cremation has taken place. Private graveside services and inurnment will take place. Her wishes were for her remains to be buried with her mother.
DeHerrera was a resident of Rock Springs, for over 55 years.
She was born on April 9, 1920, in Amalia, N.M., the daughter of the late Otoniel Martinez and Ezquias Archuleta Martinez. She attended school in Amalia where she graduated from the eighth grade. She was given the option to continue her education, but chose to stay home with her ailing mother.
Shortly after her father's death in 1946, the family moved to Western Wyoming where many of her family members settled and worked in either Rawlins, Salt Wells, Reliance or Rock Springs.
She performed domestic work for many Rock Springs residents until 1969 when she began her work in food preparation at local restaurants. She was employed by the Renegade Cafe, the Kasbah Restaurant and she retired from the Outlaw Inn in 1982 after 15 years of service.
She was a member of the Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, Catholic Golden Age, Council of Catholic Women, Saint Monicas, Rock Springs Women's Club, Young at Heart Senior Citizens Center of Rock Springs, and the Rock Springs Diabetic Association. Frances was honored as Hispanic Citizen of the Year in 1978.
Survivors include her four children, Linda Bateman and husband Franklin J. Bateman, Lloyd DeHerrera and wife Kathy of Rock Springs; Marji Slagowski of Fort Collins; and Frank L. DeHerrera of Fort Collins; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two sisters Florida "Flora" Duran of Rock Springs and Erminia "Erma" Romero of San Luis, Colo.; special nephew who was "raised as a brother," Lorenzo "Willie" Martinez and his wife Lois of Rock Springs; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and one sister.
