Dorothy J. Hickman
1938-2006
Dorothy J. Hickman, 67, died June 10 at United Medical Center in Cheyenne.
She was born Oct. 8, 1938, in Lingle, the daughter of Henry and Phoebe (Kinner) Lampman.
As a child, she moved with her family to California and Idaho before returning to Goshen County, where she had lived since.
Mrs. Hickman worked at the Lewis Caf‚ and Daylight Donut.
She married
John Henry Hickman Jr. on May 24, 1964, in Torrington.
Mrs. Hickman loved fishing, boating, gardening and spending time with her grandson. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.
She is survived by her husband; a son, Raymond Hickman of Fort Collins, Colo.; a daughter, Jackie Hickman; four sisters, Mary Lou Gawith of Everett, Wash., Henrietta Muller of Kirby, and Alice Davis and Edith Claybaugh, both of Torrington; and a grandson.
Mrs. Hickman was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Charles Lampman; and a sister, Guelda Masterude.
The funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Marie Fitts officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-7 p.m. today at Coyler Funeral Home in Torrington.

Michael R. Schaefer
1957-2006
Michael R. Schaefer, 49, of Cheyenne died June 6 in Cheyenne.
Mr. Schaefer was born March 12, 1957, in Cheyenne.
He was a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service.
Mr. Schaefer was affiliated with the Catholic Church and was active in scouting, having earned his Eagle Scout Badge.
He is survived by his mother, Martha Martinez of Cheyenne; two brothers, Victor Schaefer of Pueblo, Colo., and Jon Mark Schaefer of Phoenix; and a sister, Melanie Coffman of Cheyenne.
Mr. Schaefer was preceded in death by his father, Courtney H. Schaefer.
Cremation has taken place at Schrader's Sunset Park Crematory.

Rosemary Whitmer
1926-2006
Rosemary Whitmer, 79, of Cheyenne died June 8.
She was born Sept. 6, 1926, in Axtell, Kan.
She was a resident of Cheyenne for 46 years and was a homemaker.
Mrs. Whitmer is survived by her five children, Donald E. Whitmer Jr., Colleen M. Ausman, Nancy L. Fennell, Mary C. Becker, Gerald J. Whitmer; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nine brothers and sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Whitmer, whom she married
April 3, 1948; her parents, Clem and Marie Sunneberg; and her sisters, Bernita Sunneberg and Joan Lackey.
The memorial service will be 1 p.m. today at Good Shepherd Assembly of God, 421 E. Fourth St. with the Rev. Tom Perea officiating.
Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens under the direction of Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes.

Charles E. Munier
1956-2006
Lt. Col. Charles E. "Chuck" Munier, 50, died June 12, at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
He was born May 26, 1956, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Jeannie (Mieder) and Frederick Munier.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Wheatland, with Pastor Skip Perry, the Rev. Lori Modesitt, and Pastor Larry Benjamin officiating.
Interment with military honors accorded will be in the Wheatland cemetery.
Visitation will be 1-7 p.m. Friday at Gorman Funeral Homes, Platte Chapel of Wheatland.
Ernest E. Maese
1927-2006
Ernest E. Maese, 79, of Cheyenne died June 11 at Mountain Towers in Cheyenne.
He was born May 9, 1927, in Sterling, Colo., to Ada and Paul Maese.
He was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad, B&B and various construction companies.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
He is survived by two daughters, Rebbecca Maese of Lake Oswego, Ore., and Genny Ann Maese of Phoenix; a son, Robert Maese of Gresham, Ore.; two brothers, Bill Maese of Kansas City, Kan., and Pat Maese of Cheyenne; a grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Vigil for the Deceased will be 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with the Rev. Ray Moss officiating. The funeral will follow at 10 a.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Moss officiating.
Friends may contribute to the pantry fund at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
Gregory E. Ditzler
1957-2006
Ret. U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Gregory E. Ditzler, 49, of Wapiti died June 5.
He was born April 6, 1957, in Lancaster, Penn.
He graduated from Brigham Young University and the FBI National Academy.
He lived in Cheyenne from 2001 to 2005 and retired from F.E. Warren Air Force Base. He was a career security forces officer. His career in the service spanned more than 25 years and he went all over the world.
He enjoyed hiking and hunting, and especially enjoyed hunting trips with his daughters.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Christine; daughters, Katharina, Samantha and Alexandra, all of Wapiti, Sarah Howard of Silverton, Ore.; a son, Joshua of Denver; his mother, Lois Ditzler of Elizabethtown, Penn.; brothers, Michael Ditzler of New Holland, Penn., and Douglas Ditzler of Elizabethtown; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ross Ditzler.
A memorial service was held June 9 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel in Cody.
He was buried with full military honors at the Veterans National cemetery in Fort Indiantown Gap, Penn.

Karl E. Dieters
1935-2006
Karl E. Dieters, 70, of Cheyenne died June 12 in Cheyenne.
He was born July 14, 1935, in Sioux Falls, S.D., and had lived in Wyoming since 1970.
Mr. Dieters worked for Amoco as a pipeliner and retired in 1996.
He built his own freight business and enjoyed combining business with sightseeing on his frequent trips across the country.
He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and the Moose Lodge.
He enjoyed bowling, traveling to the American Bowling Congress, card games and gambling outings. He spent a lot of time walking roadways picking up aluminum cans.
Mr. Dieters is survived by his wife, W. Jeanene of Cheyenne, whom he married
March 14, 1969, in Sioux Falls; four sons, Bob Alley of Nashville, Tenn., Ron Alley of Sioux Falls, Mike Dieters of Cheyenne and Gene Dieters of North Las Vegas, Nev.; a daughter, Karla Dieters of Cheyenne; two brothers, Fred Dieters of Hartford, S.D., and Hank Dieters of Fort Collins, Colo.; a sister, Sue Barker of Victorville, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry B. and Lois H. Dieters.
The funeral is 10 a.m. Friday at Faith United Methodist Church with the Rev. Delbert Hansen officiating. Interment will follow at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
Casket-bearers will be Troy Dieters, Mike Dieters, Gene Dieters, Fred Dieters, Hank Dieters, Ray Teske, and Gerry Chadwick. Honorary casket-bearers will be Audrey Dieters, Mason Dieters, Peyton Dieters, and Hunter Dieters.
Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Honor Guard.

Lura A. Brown
1922-2006
Lura Alwilda Lippitt Brown, 84, formerly of Pine Bluffs died June 12 at Assured Assisted Living in Castle Rock, Colo., where she resided since 2005.
Lura was born on May 22, 1922 in Fleming, Colo., the daughter of Irvil and Frieda (Ard) Lippitt. She attended school in Fleming where she graduated with the class of 1940. She then attended Bethel Nursing School in Colorado Springs, Colo., until her marriage to Walter Sheirl Brown Jr. on Dec. 14, 1942, at her parents' home in Fleming.
The couple farmed and ranched in Pine Bluffs for more than 50 years where Sheirl was postmaster for 21 of those years. Lura was a loving mother and supported her family in many school and community activities.
Lura worked in Pine Bluffs for the Laramie County Extension Service, the Laramie County Weed and Pest Service, the Pine Bluffs Library, and, finally, eight years with the Soil Conservation Service before retiring.
Lura was active in many organizations. She was a member of Pine Bluffs United Methodist Church and, in later years, the First United Methodist Church of Salina, Kan. She enjoyed both Afternoon Circle and Evening Circle. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for more than 50 years, recently Burns Chapter No. 47. Previously, she belonged to Pine Bluffs Chapter No. 29 and was Worthy Matron. She was a member of the Pastime Club for many years. In 1959, Lura was a founding parent for the local Lone Pine 4-H clubs. She was an active leader for many years in the Lone Pine Whip and Stitch 4-H club and also supported many activities of the Lone Pine Cattle Club.
She is survived by her six children: Walter "Wally" Sheirl Brown III of Kenai, Alaska, Leola White and Terry Ferguson of Capitola, Calif., Billie Jean Lundberg of Cheyenne, twins, Sheila and Nick Vella of Castle Rock, Colo., Sheirlie and Del Prophet of Independence, Kan., and Helen "Joyce" and Gary McDuffie of Scottsbluff, Neb; six grandchildren and their families, Kevin and Jen (Starr, Nick, Holly, and Andy) White of Gilroy, Calif., Traci White of Denver, Russel and Kristin Prophet of Salina, Kan, Tally and Matt (Avery) Morris of Springfield, Mo., Sheirlie Ann and Doug (Nolan) LaMantia of Muncie, Ind., and Gary (Chris) McDuffie Jr. of Great Falls, Mont; a sister, Dorothy Caughill of Buckley, Wash.; and brother, Robert Lippitt of Byers, Colo.
Lura was preceded in death by her husband Sheirl.
Plans are being made for a memorial service to be held in Pine Bluffs at a later date.

Pat Mitchell
1954-2006
Pat Mitchell, 52, died June 12 at his home in Cheyenne.
He was born Feb. 2, 1954, in Torrington, the son of Lawrence and Margaret (Bowman) Mitchell. He graduated from Torrington High School in 1972. He went on to earn an associate's of arts degree from Eastern Wyoming College.
He married
Catherine Heyl on Oct. 15, 1983. They later divorced.
He was employed by the city of Torrington for many years as a journeyman lineman. He was active in the Torrington Volunteer Fire Department, the Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the Torrington Jaycees and the Wyoming Jaycees. During that time, he held numerous offices in those organizations.
He was employed by Lowe's and KFBC radio in Cheyenne.
He is survived by his daughter, Chelsea of Cheyenne; a sister, Sandy Wells of Torrington; a brother, Jack Mitchell of Scottsbluff; his twin brother, Mike Mitchell of Sidney, Neb.; two aunts and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Larry and Ed; and two great-nieces.
A memorial mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Rose Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Kevin Koch officiating
Burial will take place at the Valley View cemetery. A wake and rosary service will be 7 p.m. today at the church.
Friends may contribute to a college education fund for his daughter.

Roger L. Wilcox
1948-2006
Roger Lynn Wilcox, 57, of Riverside was found dead on June 9 at his home in Riverside.
He was born Sept. 8, 1948, in Cheyenne, the son of Robert Gerald and Donna Mae (Anderson) Wilcox.
He lived in Wyoming all his life. He attended Cheyenne's East High and later worked for the Union Pacific Railroad.
He is survived by his mother, Donna M. Wilcox; two brothers, Douglas K. Wilcox of Eaton, Colo., and Donald T. Wilcox; one sister, Bonnie K. Ross of Cheyenne; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert G. Wilcox.
No services are planned and cremation has taken place.
Ruth Stephenson Pearson
1921-2006
Ruth Stephenson Pearson, 85, of Monticello, Utah died June 6 in Monticello.
She was born March 7, 1921, in Dundee, Texas.
She married
R.L. Pearson on April 23, 1938 in Cortez, Colo.
For more than 30 years, she was a nurse in Monticello, Utah and Cortez.
She lived in Cheyenne at various times from 1992 to 2003.
Mrs. Pearson was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She was an avid sports fan and she enjoyed reading.
She is survived by two sons, Charles Bradley Pearson and Jimmy Joe Pearson, both of Monticello; a daughter, Betty Jean Pearson of Cheyenne; a sister, Annalee Goodner of Oklahoma; 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, R.L. Pearson; her parents, James Sherman and Sarah Frances Stephenson; and seven brothers and sisters.
The funeral was held in Monticello.
