Patrick Leonard - 02/05/04
Memorial services for Patrick Alan Leonard, 54, formerly of Gillette, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Sheridan with the Rev. Don Derryberry officiating.
His body has been donated to the University of Colorado Medical School.
Mr. Leonard died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County following a long illness.
He was born July 22, 1949, in Longmont, Colo., to Betty Jean (Waldo) and Ralph David Leonard. He grew up in Bairoil and attended high school in Rawlins and Glenrock.
He attended Western Community College. He served in the U.S. Army as a helicopter door gunner in Vietnam.
He was a guard rail foreman and, in Gillette, an engineer for the Wyoming Department of Transportation until his illness forced his retirement.
On Jan. 17, 1983, he married Suzanne Kaye Storck in Sheridan.
He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed camping trips and being outdoors year around. He collected fossils and artifacts and enjoyed watching and feeding the birds.
When his sons were young, he coached them in YMCA basketball. He had a great love for life and even as his crippling disease progressed, he remained cheerful and never complained.
Mr. Leonard is survived by his wife; two daughters, Gretchan Leonard of Sheridan and Kara Leonard of Santa Rosa, Calif.; two sons, James Leonard of Sacramento, Calif., and Daniel Leonard of Santa Rosa; his mother of Casper; a brother, Danny Leonard of Laramie; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and two infant children, David and Leanna.
Memorials may benefit the Senior Citizen's Center "Meal on Wheels," program, 211 Smith St., Sheridan, WY 82801.

David Jackson - 02/06/04
Funeral services for David William Jackson, 33, of Gillette will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Sonja Buchlacher officiating.
Burial will follow at Mount Pisgah Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today at Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel.
Mr. Jackson died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, at Campbell County Memorial Hospital of cancer.
He was born Jan. 11, 1971, to Doris (Rink) and Orin Jackson in Kansas City, Mo. He spent his childhood in Long Beach, Calif., and, in 1979, he moved to Gillette where he attended Sage Valley Junior High.
He graduated from Campbell County High School in 1989. Upon graduation, he worked as a millwright for L&H Welding and SKV Welding.
On July 3, 1998, he married Toni Ojala.
He enjoyed hot rods and snowmobiling. In 2001, he owned and operated Jackson Mining Equipment Repair, working throughout the Basin.
Mr. Jackson is survived by his wife; two daughters, Christian Jackson and Courtney Keller, both of Gillette; and one brother, Greg Jackson, and a nephew, both of Casper.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, David Knigge.
A memorial has been established in his name and its use will be designated at a later date.

Tess Egan - 02/10/04
Tess Hendricks Bennick Egan, 80, formerly of Gillette, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at her winter home in Phoenix.
Cremation has taken place and private family services are pending.
She was born Aug. 18, 1923, in Gillette to Harley and Verna Hendricks. She attended school in Gillette and graduated from Campbell County High School around 1940.
She taught all grades at the Sussex school, east of Kaycee, before she married Eugene Bennick in 1943. They made their home in Tempe, Ariz., for a number of years where she worked for the Kyrene School District.
After achieving her teaching certificate, she served as head librarian.
Following the death of her husband, she moved to England where she was a librarian in the U.S. Department of Defense School at Lakenheath Air Force Base until her retirement.
While in England, she met and married Joe Egan and they spent many happy years at their home in Ely, Cambridgeshire, England, and they traveled about Europe. They had wintered in Phoenix since 1997.
Mrs. Egan is survived by her husband; two daughters, Kathleen Bennick Dolge of Phoenix and Kristine Bennick Espinoza of Seattle; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Quinten Zimmerman - 02/11/04
Funeral services for Quinten "Gail" Zimmerman, 67, formerly of Gillette, will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Jefferson Assembly of God Church, north of Meriden, Kan.
Mr. Zimmerman will lie in state from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at Barnett's Meriden Funeral Chapel in Meriden.
Visitation will be from 11 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at the church.
Burial will be at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Mullenville, Kan.
Mr. Zimmerman, of the Lakewood Hills Community of Ozawkie, Kan., died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at a Topeka Hospice House.
He was born March 23, 1936, in Mullenville to Frank M. and Theodra Nimmo Zimmerman. He had lived in Ozawkie for 14 years, moving from Gillette.
He was the owner and operator of the Wyoming Casing Service in the oil field industry for many years. He also owned and operated Jack's Liquor Store in Gillette for many years.
Mr. Zimmerman was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Ozawkie American Legion Post 225 and the VFW Post 10815 in Meriden.
He was a 1954 graduate of Mullenville High School.
On Aug. 20, 1961, he married Carolyn Sue Smith in Liberal, Kan.
Mr. Zimmerman is survived by his wife of Ozawkie; a son, Stephen Don Zimmerman of Topeka, Kan.; four daughters, Cynthia Anderson of Oklahoma City, Okla., Deborah Wirston of Dallas, Texas, Sandra Dee Karsky of Topeka, and Vickie Robinson of Colstrip, Mont.; a brother, Kenneth Zimmerman of Ferris, Texas; his sister, Doris Frye of Hunnington, W.Va.; nine grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
