John W. Homewood
1920-2005
John W. Homewood, 85, of Cheyenne died May 6 at Oklahoma University Medical Center Presbyterian Towers in Oklahoma City, Okla.
He was born Jan. 14, 1920, in Cheyenne. He was in Oklahoma for four weeks.
Mr. Homewood was an educator.
He was a life member of the National Education Association and a Boy Scout leader.
Mr. Homewood is survived by a son, Craig Homewood of Oklahoma City; a daughter, Lisa Kadlecek of Rocky Ford, Colo., and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Homewood on July 12, 1988; a daughter, Susan Allen; his parents, Fred and Anna Homewood; a brother, Charles Homewood and two sisters, Mary Harvey and Fredonia Cook.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
Friends may contribute to the Alzheimer's Association.
Services are under the direction of Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes.
Martin H. DeLeeuw
1929-2005
Martin H. "Big Daddy" DeLeeuw, 75, of Cheyenne passed away at home May 7 surrounded by his loving wife and children.
He was born June 23, 1929, in Torrington, Conn., and lived here for 38 years.
Mr. DeLeeuw had retired as a technical sergeant from the Air Force, serving in the Berlin Air Lift and the Korean conflict.
For 21 years, he worked as a clerk and in customer service at Kmart.
Mr. DeLeeuw was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral.
He is survived by his wife, Lola J. DeLeeuw of Cheyenne, whom he married
Sept. 29, 1951, in Torrington; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Michael and Rhonda DeLeeuw of Cheyenne and Patrick and Candy DeLeeuw of Carson City, Nev.; two daughters, Kathleen Kuno of Cheyenne and Karen L. DeLeeuw of Aurora, Colo.; eight grandchildren, Allison Kuno, Seth Kuno, Courtney Pollom, Hannah DeLeeuw and Craig Tyler DeLeeuw, all of Cheyenne, Dylan DeLeeuw and Nathan DeLeeuw, both of Carson City, and Christina Raulersen of Sheridan; one great-granddaughter, Alysianna Valdez of Cheyenne; and numerous relatives in Germany.
He was preceded in death by a son, Craig A. DeLeeuw; his parents, Martin H. and Katherine DeLeeuw; and a sister, Elizabeth Thompson.
A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes with the Rev. Thomas Cronkleton officiating.
Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Honor Guard.
Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial gardens.

Mary E. Smith
1930-2005
Mary Ellen "Dee" Smith, 74, passed away at her home on Mother's Day, May 8, after a short but courageous fight against cancer.
Mary was born Dec. 7, 1930, in Cheyenne to Clare and Arthur F. Vizina. She attended Cheyenne schools.
On Nov. 29, 1952, Mary married
Howard A. Smith in Tacoma, Wash. Howard was in the Army so Mary had the opportunity to live in Reno, Nev., Panama, and Fort Riley, Kan. In 1964, they moved to Cheyenne.
Mary was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church. She loved gardening, feeding the squirrels, bunnies and birds in her backyard, sewing, and taking care of her cat, Meow, her dog, Pooh Bear, and her bird, Pretty Boy. She worked in the hotel and banking business for years. She was employed by American National Bank prior to her retirement. Before her illness, she worked in the gift shop at Little America.
Mary was a wonderful mother and is survived by her devoted and loving children and their spouses, Jennifer and David Dempsey of Long Beach, Calif., Claudia and Marty Carroll of Cheyenne, Heather Smith of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., Howard and Patty Smith of Cheyenne and Harold "Bud" Smith of Clarkston, Mich. Also surviving are her grandchildren who adored her, Matthew Dempsey of Irving, Texas, Patrick Dempsey of La Dera, Calif., Laura Dempsey LaMothe of Long Beach, Calif., Jennifer Carroll, Lauren Carroll, Alan Smith and Aaron Smith, all of Cheyenne.
Mary was also fortunate to have the love and support of her wonderful neighbors. No one could have asked for better friends to live around, especially during her recent illness.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Clare and Arthur Vizina; her husband, Howard A. Smith; her brother, Harold Vizina; her sister, Elizabeth D. Smith; and various aunts, uncles and cousins.
Cremation has taken place. Private family services will be held at a later date.
Friends may donate to Cheyenne United Medical Center Hospice, Holy Trinity Catholic Church or the Cheyenne Animal Shelter.
Sergei S. Kasakow
1939-2005
Sergei S. Kasakow, 65, of San Mateo, Calif., died May 6 in San Mateo.
He was born Sept. 13, 1939.
He was a native of Russia and a longtime resident of Cheyenne from 1980 to 1995, where he retired from the highway department. He was a 10-year resident of San Mateo.
Mr. Kasakow is survived by his son, Sergei S. Kasakow III of Burlingame, Calif.; and his father, Sergei V. Kasakow of Burlingame.
He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy Kasakow.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. today at the Russian Orthodox Church of All Russian Saints, 744 El Camino Real in Burlingame.
Burial will follow at the Serbian cemetery in Colma, Calif.
Panihida service was held Tuesday at the church.
Arrangements are by Crosby-N. Gray & Co. of Burlingame, Calif.
Betty L. Chesser
1944-2005
Betty Lou Chesser, 61, of Cheyenne died May 2 at Life Care Center of Cheyenne.
She was born March 6, 1944, in Pine Bluffs and lived here most of her life.
Mrs. Chesser was a member of North Christian Church, Moose Lodge, Eagles and the American Legion.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Pink Chesser of Wheatland; two grandsons, David Chesser and Daniel Chesser; a sister and brother-in-law, Bobbie and Tom May of Pine Bluffs; a niece, Randa; and a nephew, Ryan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lowell and Lois Beavers.
Services will be 10 a.m. today at North Christian Church with the Rev. Roger Aurand officiating.
Pallbearers will be John Cates, Bill Hutton, Jack Ruhter, George Love and Lew Waldron.

Dorothy M. Clark
1921-2005
Dorothy M. Clark, 84, of Cheyenne died April 30.
She was born Jan. 26, 1921, in Cheyenne.
She married
Frank Clark Jr. in 1963 in Cheyenne.
She was a longtime resident of Cheyenne. She graduated from Cheyenne's Central High and attended the University of Wyoming, where she was active in Kappa Delta Sorority.
She was a member of Daughters of the Nile.
She is survived by her son, Gary Edward Rogness of Santa Clarita, Calif.; a daughter, Patricia Jo Cutlip of Parker, Colo.; a brother, Robert Gnam of Grand Junction, Colo.; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Clark Jr.; her parents, Ethel and Julius Gnam of Cheyenne; a sister, Joanne Harms; and one granddaughter.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Schrader Chapel with the Bishop Mark Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Beth El cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Gary Rogness, Ray Cutlip, Lisa Allen, Patricia Cutlip, Bob Gnam and Dean Conine.

Florence F. Starrett
1913-2005
Florence F. Starrett, 91, of Cheyenne died May 2 at United Medical Center-West.
She was born Dec. 16, 1913, in Cheyenne.
She was an executive assistant for the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
She married
Leland Starrett on March 15, 1952, in Cheyenne.
Mrs. Starrett was a member of First Presbyterian Church, P.E.O., Mizpah Chapter No. 36 and Order of Eastern Star.
She is survived by two nephews, Floyd Foresman of Cheyenne and Bill Evans Marina Del Rey, Calif.; and three nieces, Joan Carey of Cheyenne, Shirley Francisco of Port Orange, Fla., and Sally Wilking of Salt Lake City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland Starrett; parents, George Marcus and Minnie (Reiff) Foresman; two brothers, Floyd Foresman and Willard Foresman; five sisters, Ruth Foresman, Gladys Riley, Verna Foresman, Coramae Jackson and Helen Evans; and two great-nieces.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Schrader Chapel with the Rev. Mary Jo Koehler officiating.
Burial will be in Beth El cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Floyd Foresman, Dwain Carey, Bill Evans, James Reisbeck, Jim Wilking and John Zuver.

Franz Wittmann
1929-2005
Franz "Frank" Wittmann, 75, of Cheyenne died May 2 at Cheyenne Medical Center.
He was born May 23, 1929, in Munich, Germany to Mary and Franz Wittmann. He came to the United States in 1954 after living in both Tasmania and mainland Australia.
He married
Vera Mae Bjornstad Oct. 18, 1958 in Cheyenne.
After living briefly in Minnesota, they made permanent residence in Cheyenne in 1959.
Mr. Wittmann served in the Air Force and was later employed as an ironworker and a bartender. He was a member of the American Legion Post 6 and Ironworkers Local No. 454. Frank had many hobbies including hunting, fishing and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Vera Wittmann; a daughter, Victoria Henke of Rathdrum, Idaho; a son, Joe Wittmann of Cheyenne; and seven grandchildren.
Frank was preceded in death by his mother and father; and an aunt.
Services will be held at a later date.
Karlin Reetz
1947-2005
Karlin "Tiny" Reetz, 57, of Jackson died May 3.
She was born Oct. 11,1947, to Bill and Donna Eckes.
She grew up in Beach, N.D.
She received her bachelor's degree from Dickinson State College.
She married
Lorado Reetz on Dec. 21, 1970, in Beach.
She lived in Wyoming, teaching in Gillette and later working 10 years for Corral West Ranchwear Inc., moving to Rawlins, Cheyenne, Cody, and Jackson.
She managed the Cheyenne Fun City Amusement Park four years and worked with Mary Kay Cosmetics.
She was an active lifetime
member of the Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband, Lorado; daughters, Lori of Jackson and Robin of Cheyenne; a son, Robert of Laramie; mother, Donna Eckes of Beach; sisters, Margot of Scottsdale, Ariz., Bridget of Scottsbluff, Neb., and Jeannie of Golden Valley, Ariz.; a brother, Bob of Las Vegas; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Bill Eckes; and two brothers, Bill and Jack.

Leonard A. Eppich
1912-2005
Leonard A. Eppich, 92, of Cheyenne died May 2 at United Medical Center-West.
He was born July 25, 1912, in Durango, Colo., and lived here since 1952.
Mr. Eppich served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a baker for the Mayflower Restaurant and retired from Dunkin Donuts.
Mr. Eppich was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Eppich of Cheyenne, whom he married
July 11, 1944; a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Pamela Eppich of Cheyenne; a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Lee Fittje of Humphrey, Neb.; five grandchildren, Scott (and Amy) Fittje of St. Louis, Jason Fittje (and Rachel Albaugh) of Humphrey, Neb., Melinda Fittje of Lincoln, Neb., and Kevin Fittje and Kristin Fittje, both of Humphrey; and one great-grandson, Landan Fittje of Humphrey.
He was preceded in death by a son, Leonard E. Eppich; his parents, Maximillion and Cornelia Eppich; a brother, Frank M. Eppich; and four sisters, Nellie J. Eppich, Hattie Lubkey, Paula Eppich and Freida Eppich.
Services will be 10 a.m. today at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. David Caspersen officiating.
Interment will be in Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Scott Fittje, Jason Fittje, Kevin Fittje, Darrell Christensen, Bruce Ringen and Bob Simon.
Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Honor Guard.
