Randy Schaefer - 01/13/04
Funeral services for Randall "Randy" Allen Schaefer, age 48, of Gillette, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Church of Christ in Gillette with Paul Kearby officiating.
Burial will follow at Mount Pisgah Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
Mr. Schaefer died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2004, at his home after a battle with cancer.
He was born August 4, 1955, to Helen Lorraine (Peterson) and Joseph Frederick Schaefer in Cloquet, Minn. He was raised and educated in Hinckley, Minn., where he graduated from high school in 1973.
He married his high school sweetheart, Cheri Lindgren, in 1972 in Watertown, S.D. Upon high school graduation, they made their home in Hinckley.
He moved to Gillette in 1978 where he worked for Flint Engineering for 10 years. He began working for area fields as a pumper in May of 1987. In the early 1990s, he started a woodworking business, Schaefer's Acre, although this came second to pumping.
Mr. Schaefer was a member of the Antelope Valley Homeowners Board, a past member of the Ham Radio Club, and since his health wouldn't allow him to do woodworking, was currently a member of the Woodworking.com Forum.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, archery and guns. He liked to travel to Deadwood, S.D. Most importantly, he loved watching movies and spending time with his family. He felt he was a lucky person.
Mr. Schaefer is survived by his wife; four sons, Steve Schaefer of Tucson, Ariz., Scott Schaefer of Gila Bend, Ariz., and Patrick Schaefer and Matthew Schaefer, both of Gillette; five daughters, Jennifer of Colorado Springs, Colo., Jackie of Gila Bend, Ariz., and Rachel, Stacy, and Casey, all of Gillette; four brothers, Gary Schaefer of North Branch, Minn., Dan Schaefer of Hinckley, Michael Schaefer of Moose Lake, Minn., and Robert Schaefer of Rush City, Minn.; two sisters, Becky of Moose Lake and Sandy of Duluth, Minn.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother; one brother, Bill Schaefer; one infant son in 1978; and one infant daughter in 1991.

John Feaster - 01/22/04
Funeral services for John Feaster, 68, of Gillette will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Blanche Beck Memorial Chapel at Pioneer Manor Nursing Home with Sister Carol Mechtenberg officiating.
Burial with military honors will be in the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, S.D.
Mr. Feaster died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004, at Pioneer Manor Nursing Home.
He was born Aug. 29, 1935, to Agnes May (Brennan) and Lynn Edward Feaster in Newcastle. He was raised and educated there.
He served the U.S. Navy for four years. Upon his discharge, he returned to Wyoming and worked in the area oil fields.
Mr. Feaster married Mary Schriner in 1976.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, car racing, and adored all of his nieces and nephews.
Mr. Feaster is survived by two sisters, Lorraine Cole of Silver Creek, Wash., and Veanna Kymala of Spearfish, S.D.; his children, Leslie McGrath of Gillette, Lucy Brennan and Clint Hurtado, all of Gillette; John Schriner of Moorcroft, and Ed Linnette of Washington; and numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; three brothers, Bill Feaster, Jim Feaster, and Ed Feaster; one nephew; and two sons, Terry Schriner and Steve Linnette.

Sammy Allan-1/25/04
Graveside services for Sammy Dean Allan, 78, of Moorcroft will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Moorcroft Cemetery with full military honors with the Rev. Bob Smoot officiating.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home.
Mr. Allan died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004, at Campbell County Memorial Hospital of natural causes.
He was born Dec. 9, 1925, to Grace (Provan) and Andrew Allan in Arma, Kan.; where he attended rural school.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942 as a Seabee doing construction and building roads. He served until the end of the war.
Upon his discharge he returned to Kansas and married Bernice Stout in 1946. He worked on the Hoover Dam and worked construction in the south western states.
The family moved to Gillette in 1968 where he worked in the oil fields. They moved to Pine Haven and retired in 1984 from Amax Coal Company.
He was a member of the Moorcroft Legion Post #8475 and the Elks Lodge. His hobbies included bowling and building miniature houses for his grandchildren. He was also an avid fan of Fox News.
Mr. Allan is survived by three children, Andrew Allan of Boston, Mass., Patti Dennis of Susanville, Calif., and Richard Allan of Gillette; two sisters, Mildred Schallard of Lakeland, Fla., and Pauline Rosenberry of Joplin, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; and one sister.

Juergen Harmens - 01/30/04
Memorial services for former Gillette resident Juergen "Dutch" Hugo Harmens, 64, of North Platte, Neb., will be at 5:30 p.m. Monday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte with the Rev. R.L. Piontkowski officiating.
Cremation has taken place.
Mr. Harmens died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, at Rapid City Regional Hospital of natural causes.
He was born March 14, 1939, in Gotha, Germany, to Gerda and Hugo Harmens.
In 1954, he went from East to West Germany. In Aachen, Germany, he apprenticed as a radio and television technician.
In 1959, he served in the Army in Germany. In 1962, he lived in Toronto, Canada, before moving to Costa Rica and Teguciagalpa, Honduras. He came to America in 1980 and lived in Denver, where he worked for Sintons Dairy. He was married to Ivelis Cronfel with whom he had two children; Leila and Gerald Harmens.
Mr. Harmens moved to Gillette in 1989 to work for Gillette Dairy. He also lived in Rapid City, S.D., and Fargo, N.D. He moved to North Platte in 1998 to take the position of distribution center branch manager of Gillette Dairy.
On Sept. 9, 2000, he married Christine Deterding.
Mr. Harmens enjoyed traveling, cooking, deep-sea fishing, golfing, and socializing. He shared his life with many through work and personal relationships.
Mr. Harmens is survived by his wife of North Platte; a daughter, Leila Harmens, and son, Gerlad Harmens, both of Denver; his sister, Ingrid (Heiner) Fullbeck, two brothers, Gunter Harmens, and Lars Harmens, all of Germany; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial in his name has been established.
