Mildred B. Good

1919-2004

Mildred B. "Millie" Good, 84, of Wheatland, died June 15 at Platte County Memorial Nursing Home.

She was born Nov. 20, 1919, in Boston to Rupert and Aurora (Imbua) Parker.

She was the author of such children's books as "King, the Crafty Coyote I," "King, the Crafty Coyote II" and "The Prairie Kingdom of the West." She was also an artist and the owner of doll stores in Wyoming and Florida.

She married U.S. Air Force Capt. William L. Good in 1971.

She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, Women of the Moose and Military Officers Association of America.

She is survived by a sister, Elizabeth Yvonne Conklin of Florida; two brothers, Arthur B. Parker of Oklahoma and Roger William Parker of Nashua, N.H.; and a cousin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Rupert J. Parker; and two sisters, Lillian T. Gossaline and Anne Rose Cheeseman.

Private inurnment was held Wednesday.

Ronald D. Watkins

1951-2004

Ronald Dean Watkins, 52, of Cheyenne died June 20 in Cheyenne.

He was born Sept. 5, 1951, in Fort Collins, Colo., and had lived here most of his life.

Mr. Watkins served in the Navy.

He worked at United Medical Center for more than 20 years.

Mr. Watkins is survived by a son, Keith Christopher Watkins of New York; two daughters, Wendy Collins Weinzinger of Payson, Ariz., and Shannon Watkins Frickel of Rapid City, S.D.; his mother, Carlene C. "Connie" Watkins of Cheyenne; a brother, Randy L. Watkins of Cheyenne; two sisters, Reena Richmond and Rhea Anne Pixley, both of Cheyenne; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Dean Watkins on Sept. 6.

Memorial services will be 1 p.m. todayat Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes with the Rev. Robert Schmit officiating.

Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.

Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Honor Guard.

Friends may contribute to a charity of their choice.

Scott Fowden

1958-2004

Scott Fowden, 45, died June 23 at his home in Cheyenne.

He was born Aug. 30, 1958, in Santa Cruz, Calif., the son of Wilbur and Jeanne Fowden. A 1976 graduate of St. Colleta's School in Jefferson, Wis., Mr. Fowden was a Wisconsin State Special Olympics champion, winning gold medals in swimming, track, baseball, basketball and bowling.

After moving to Wyoming in 1995, he sang in a Western Wyoming Community College choir and volunteered at the Salvation Army and the Veterans Center. He was a valued employee for six years at the Taco John's on Pershing in Cheyenne, where he was proud to be named Employee of the Month.

Mr. Fowden enjoyed music, sports, fishing, bowling, cars, traveling and watching the Green Bay Packers win. He was president of the CHAT Camera Club and active in CHAT's Best Friend's Club and the ARC.

He is survived by his mother, Jeanne Fowden of Grass Valley, Calif.; three sisters, Barbara Kempken of Janesville, Wis., Molly Racowsky of Grass Valley and Laurie Wachoski of Redding, Calif.; a brother, Mark Fowden of Cheyenne; three nieces; and a nephew.

He was preceded in death by his father, Cmdr. Wilbur Fowden.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Cheyenne Alliance Church, 5200 Ridge Road. Cremation has taken place at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Crematory.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Wendell I. Severson

1925-2004

Wendell I. Severson, 79, of Cheyenne died June 20 at Windsor Healthcare Center in Windsor, Colo.

He was born April 18, 1925, in New Castle, Neb.

Mr. Severson retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1967 after 26 years of service.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Rosella "Rosie" Severson of Burns; two sons, James K. Severson and Larry E. Severson, both of Burns; six brothers, Wayne L. Severson of Portland, Ore., Wesley E. Severson of Casper, William J. Severson of Cheyenne, Frank D. Severson of Gering, Neb., Ronald G. Severson of Cheyenne and Donald G. Severson of Gering; and two sisters, Velma M. Richter of Gering and Shirley F. Osnes of Alliance, Neb.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Severt and Relda Severson; two brothers, Wilfred K. Severson and Robert D. Severson; and a sister, Wilma J. Chapman.

Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes with the Rev. Delbert Hansen officiating.

Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Honor Guard.

Charlotte E. Greer

1925-2004

Charlotte Estelle Greer, 79, of Cheyenne died June 27 at her home.

She was born May 13, 1925, in Lincoln, Ala., to John and Lilly Green.

Mrs. Greer married Charles Greer in Aniston, Ala., on Aug. 25, 1946.

They moved to Cheyenne in 1950. He died Dec. 25, 1999.

Mrs. Greer is survived by five children, Miriam Pruter of Cheyenne, William Greer of Aurora, Colo., Jean Vance of Brighton, Colo., Barbara Laveck of Port Ludlow, Wash., and Robert Greer of Aurora, Colo.; a brother, William Green Sr. of Cheyenne; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and two brothers.

Family services will be Thursday at Mountain View Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Schrader Funeral Home.

Friends may meet with the family 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the home of Don and Miriam Pruter, 1828 Milton Drive.

Pallbearers will be William Greer, Robert Greer, Brian Pruter, Scott Constantine, Todd Constantine and Eric Pruter.

Friends may contribute to United Medical Center Hospice, 214 E. 23rd St., Cheyenne, WY 82001.

Estella M. Mintken

1911-2004

Estella M. Mintken, 92, of Cheyenne died June 29 at Cheyenne Health Care Center.

She was born Sept. 25, 1911, to Thomas W. and Olive (Stallings) Smith in Wray, Colo., and had lived here for 20 years.

She married Forrest Mintken on July 6, 1931, in Sterling, Colo.

Mrs. Mintken was a homemaker and had worked with her husband in the operation of gas stations, restaurants and automotive repair businesses in Grand Island, Neb., and Albin. Her husband had also farmed near Pine Bluffs for many years.

Mrs. Mintken was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was affiliated with the Lutheran Church.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Dean "Doc" Schroeder of Cheyenne; two grandchildren, David W. Kaser of Rock Springs and Thomas M. Kaser of Cheyenne; two great-grandchildren, Ethan Hobbs and Kiara Kaser, both of Cheyenne; a brother, Thomas Smith of California; and a sister, Jere Knott of California.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest Mintken on Dec. 8, 1985; her parents, Thomas and Olive Smith; a brother, Ralph Smith; a sister, Ethel "Peggy" Perry and an infant sister, Faye Smith.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dalton, Neb., with the Rev. Eldon Wells officiating.

Interment will be in the Dalton cemetery.

Friends may contribute to the COMEA Shelter or a charity of their choice.

Services are under the direction of Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes.

James C. Cox

1949-2004

James C. Cox, 55, of Cheyenne died June 27 at United Medical Center-West.

He was born June 12, 1949, in Cheyenne.

He was a locomotive engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad.

He married Melody Merrill on Jan. 3, 1970, in Cheyenne.

He served in the Air Force in Vietnam.

Mr. Cox was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and a former member of its legislative board.

He is survived by his wife, Melody Cox of Cheyenne; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeremy and Melaina Cox of Cheyenne and Chad and Jennifer Cox of Bend, Ore.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Betsy Cox of Cheyenne and Kristen and Bryce Richter of Sturgis, S.D.; a brother, Dean Cox of Cheyenne; and five grandchildren, Kaden Cox and MacKenzie Marler, both of Cheyenne, Colby Cox and Kailey Cox, both of Bend, and Ryleigh Richter of Sturgis.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Cremation will take place at Schrader's Sunset Park Crematory.

Friends may contribute to United Medical Center Hospice, 214 E. 23rd St., Cheyenne, WY 82001.

Johannah M. Humphrey

1925-2004

Johannah M. Humphrey, 78, of Cheyenne died June 28 at United Medical Center-West in Cheyenne.

She was born Nov. 14, 1925, in Pinedale.

Johannah, better known as "Josie," worked for Laramie County School District 1.

She is survived by her husband, Harvey M. Humphrey of Cheyenne, whom she married Sept. 8, 1945 in Burns; a son, Harvey J. Humphrey and wife Jere of Burns; two daughters, Jeannie Acton and husband Jim of Burns, and Debra K. Dunn of Homeland, Calif.; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Hazel Gurney; two brothers, Marshall Gurney and Jack Gurney; three sisters, Margaret Thompson, Louise Olson and Jane Kessler.

No services are to be held and cremation has taken place at Schrader's Sunset Park Crematory.

Friends may contribute to their favorite charity.

McKinley C. Benson

1919-2004

McKinley C. Benson, 84, of Cheyenne died June 19 at United Medical Center-West in Cheyenne.

He was born Nov. 18, 1919, in Lincoln, Ga.

Mr. Benson married Mary E. Benson in Cheyenne.

He received an honorary discharge from Fort Francis E. Warren Army Base as a demolition specialist in December 1946. He received the World War II Victory Medal.

He retired from Laramie County School District 1 in 1984.

He was a member of the Allen Chapel AME Church, Mason/Shrine, VFW No. 4343 and the American Post 6.

Mr. Benson is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary E. Benson of Cheyenne; three sons, Terry Benson and Tony Benson, both of Cheyenne, and Michael Benson of Phoenix; a daughter, Lisa Benson of Cheyenne; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mattie and George Benson; a brother, Marshall Lomax; a sister, Estell Dean; and a granddaughter.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel with the Rev. Benjamin D. Watson Sr. officiating.

Interment will be in Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.

Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Honor Guard.

Pallbearers will be George Osborne III, Michael Benson, Frederick Osborne, Terry Benson, Tony Benson and Terry Bunch.

Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Marlin, Jewell Jones and Doug Jones.

Peggy L. Collins

1929-2004

Peggy L. Collins, 74, of Palmyra, Pa. died June 26 at her daughter's home in Cheyenne.

She was born Nov., 18, 1929, in Martinsburg, W.Va., the daughter of David W. Weatherholtz Sr. and Virginia (Zepp) Weatherholtz.

She retired as a waitress at Little America, where she had previously lived for 22 years. She was a member of Big Horn Baptist Church in Buffalo.

She was the widow of Wilbur Dale Collins who died July 20, 2001.

She is survived by four daughters, Joyce A. Rhine and Sharon K. Cassel, both of Palmyra, Debra J. Harman of Hummelstown, Pa., and Kathy D. Diamond of Cheyenne; three sons, Pete L. Collins Sr. of Palmyra, Doug E. Collins of Sheridan and Rick Patches of Cheyenne; two sisters, Evelyn Prunell of Virginia and Geraldine Hoffmaster of Hagerstown, Md.; three brothers Wayne Weatherholtz of Florida, Wendell Weatherholtz of Houtzdale, Pa., and David "Billy" Weatherholtz Jr. of Lebanon, Pa.; 20 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Alice Bowman and Margaret Weatherholtz.

Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Thursday at Buse Funeral Home; 145 North Grant St., Palmyra.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
