J. Pearl Eickbush
1915-2004
J. Pearl Eickbush, 88, of Cheyenne died June 11 at Poplar Living Center in Casper.
She was born July 24, 1915, in Norton County, Kan., and had lived here since 1935.
Mrs. Eickbush was a member of First United Methodist Church since 1937 where she was a Sunday School teacher and took care of the church nursery for many years.
She was a member of Sewing Club, Order of the Eastern Star and election boards.
She married
John W. Eickbush Oct. 2, 1937.
Mrs. Eickbush is survived by two sons, John Eickbush, Jr. of Chugwater and Kenneth Eickbush of Cheyenne; two daughters, Bonny Sutter of Casper and Kathy Eickbush of Riverton; a brother, Leslie O'Hare of New Raymer, Colo.; a sister, Virginia Hicks of Nampa, Idaho; 16 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Eickbush on March 31, 1999; her parents, James and Alice O'Hare; and three brothers, Jasper O'Hare, Melvin O'Hare and Virgil O'Hare.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Nadine Korhonen officiating.
Interment will be in Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Ed Messer, Cory House, Cody Loomis, Jud Goodman, Shad Eickbush and Rob Lovato.
Honorary pallbearer will be Peter Eickbush.
Friends may contribute to a charity of their choice.
Services are under the direction of Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes.
James L. Ogren
1946-2004
James L. Ogren, 57, of Pueblo, Colo., died May 31 at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Denver.
He was born July 5, 1946, in Laramie and had lived in Pueblo for three years.
Mr. Ogren served in the Navy during Vietnam.
He is survived by a sister, Karen Gannon of Tucson, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Lois Ogren.
Graveside services for the interment of his urn will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Beth El cemetery.
Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Honor Guard.
Services are under the direction of Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes.
Margie Porterfield
1920-2004
Margie Porterfield, 84, died June 9.
She was born March 7, 1920, in McClave, Colo., to John T. Greenwood and Olie Mae Sligar Greenwood.
She married
Vinson Porterfield on Feb. 20, 1941.
She was bookkeeper for 20 years for National Alfalfa Company at plants where her husband was the plant manager in Phoenix, Holly, Colo., and Johnstown, Colo. She moved to Ft. Collins in 1958, was a member of the American Baptist Church and was an accountant for nine years for Excellart Advertising. She then moved to Cheyenne in 1966, where she was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and was an accountant for P.S. Cook Co., retiring in 1985. She returned to Ft. Collins in 1995 and spent her last year in Oklahoma.
She was former president of several women's federated clubs including Alpha Omega, Business and Professional Women and Estrelita.
She helped start the Christian Women's Club in Ft. Collins.
She is survived by her three daughters, Karen Fulcomer of Ft. Collins, Ellen Gobin of Harrah, Okla., and Linda Palmer of Ft. Collins; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; mother and father; and her three brothers, Harold, Leon and Noal.
A service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at American Baptist Church, 600 S. Shields, Ft. Collins.
Friends may contribute to the American Baptist Foreign Ministries in care of the American Baptist Church.
Phyllis Keating
1922-2004
Phyllis (Craig) Keating, 82, of Cheyenne died June 13 at Cheyenne Healthcare Center.
She was born Jan. 17, 1922, in Eklaka, Mont., and had lived here since 1993 with prior residence in Watertown, S.D.
Mrs. Keating was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, St. Mary's Guild and Catholic Daughters in Watertown.
She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Craig and Kathy Keating of Wichita, Kan., Michael Keating and Michele Bordelon of Virginia Beach, Va., Patrick Keating and Nancy Kadous of Madison, S.D., and William and Caleen Keating of Sioux Falls, S.D.; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Phyllis and Bill Gross of Pine Bluffs and Mary Keating-Scott and Gary Scott and Theresa Brown all of Cheyenne; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Charles Craig of Mexico, and Roger and Ruth Craig of Tea, S.D.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Margaret and Bernard Hoffman of Harrisburg, S.D., and Vanette Satlak of Scottsdale, Ariz.; in-laws Dolores and Jim Simes of Brookings, Ore.; 22 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Keating, on Nov. 30, 1997; her parents, Van and Ruth Craig, and a sister, Candace Adler.
Her special interests included watching birds, cooking, dancing, fishing, traveling and her strong Catholic Faith. Her greatest loves were her seven children, their spouses, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her loving manner and beautiful smile will remain in our memories forever.
Funeral Liturgy will be 10:30 a.m. today at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Donal MacVeigh as the celebrant.
Interment will be in Olivet cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be her 22 grandchildren.
Friends may contribute to Hospice, St. Mary's School or a charity of their choice.
Thomas R. Shockley
1934-2004
Thomas R. Shockley, 69, of Cheyenne died June 15 at his home.
He was born Nov. 14, 1934, in Halls, Mo. He grew up in Paxton, Neb., and moved to Cheyenne in 1979.
He retired from Consolidated Freightways and ABF Freightways, having worked as a dispatcher.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Shockley, whom he married
July 10, 1961, in Ogallala, Neb.; three sons, Douglas Shockley of Lincoln, Neb., Tony Shockley of Paxton and Shane of Cheyenne; a daughter, Brenda Ebert of Bellevue, Neb.; his mother, Minnie Shockley of Sutherland, Neb.; a brother and sister-in-law Robert (Bob) and Sylvia Shockley of Sioux City, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Ryan Scott and Joel of Lincoln, John Jr., Jennifer and Jeremy Ebert of Bellevue, Thomas R. II and Christopher Shockley of Cheyenne.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes.
Mr. Shockley requested that no services be held.
Bennie F. Cue
1938-2004
Bennie F. Cue, 66, died June 10 in Cheyenne.
He was born March 8, 1938, to Merle and George Cue in Marshall, Okla.
He is survived by his wife, Linda of Cheyenne; two daughters, Tammy Cue and Selina Cue, both of Colorado; two sons, Curtis Cue and Clayton Cue, both of Colorado; a stepdaughter, Michelle Downey of Cheyenne; a stepson, Todd Bodendorfer of Cheyenne; a grandson, Kyle of Colorado; three stepgrandsons, Daniel of Colorado and David and Drew, both of Cheyenne; and a stepdaughter, Carrieann of Colorado.
A celebration of life will be 3-6 p.m. Saturday at the Eagles Fraternal Order.
Cremation has taken place at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes.
Interment will be in Marshall, Okla.
Cecelia A. Henry
1905-2004
Cecelia Agnes Henry, 99, of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, died June 15.
She was born in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan, Canada, on March 1, 1905, to Agnes Katherine (Jaixen) and Frederick Walter Gronenthal.
Her parents, two sisters and five brothers moved from Canada to Cheyenne in 1917. Her father, a veterinarian, died shortly after they moved to Cheyenne. Cecelia was educated at St. Mary's Catholic School. After graduating from high school, she attended business school.
She married
Nelson George Henry on Dec. 13, 1925. He preceded her in death on April 5, 1988. Together they were the loving parents of three children.
After her marriage, Cecelia became a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years and was a longtime member of the Altar Guild. She was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church for several years before moving to Idaho. She was a member of Mizpah Chapter No. 36 of the Order of the Eastern Star and U.P. Oldtimers Club No. 1.
She is survived by a daughter, Lucille and son-in-law Allen of Coeur d'Alene, with whom she had lived since her husband's death. She also is survived by a daughter, Delores and son-in-law Ronald of Sugar Land, Texas; and a son, Nelson and daughter-in-law Rowene of Mission Viejo, Calif. She is survived by seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
All of her brothers and sisters have preceded her in death.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Beth El cemetery with Chaplain Ron Shell officiating.
Dean A. Lundy
1908-2004
Dean A. Lundy, 95, of Guernsey died June 14 at United Medical Center-West.
He was born Aug. 5, 1908, in Wheatland.
Mr. Lundy graduated from Wheatland High School in 1927. He graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1940 with a degree in vocational education. He taught in rural schools in Platte County and taught vocational agriculture at Sioux County High School for 34 years in Harrison, Neb. He also worked on the pipeline.
Mr. Lundy was a Sioux County commissioner for 16 years. He married
Pat Blunt on May 28, 1932, in Lexington, Neb. After selling their home in Sowbelly Canyon, Neb., they moved to Guernsey in 1995.
He is survived by his wife, Pat Lundy of Guernsey; a brother, Gerald Ray Lundy of Grand Junction, Colo.; a sister, Mary Gay Reeves of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Perry and Effie Mae Lundy; two brothers, Lee Wayne Lundy and Perry Jay Lundy; and two sisters, Vera Mae Cook and Virginia Faye Brown.
Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens under the direction of Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes.
There will be no services.
Helen A. Agee
1913-2004
Helen Agnes Harper Agee, 91, died June 7 in Houston during a visit with her son's family. She resided in Plano, Texas, near her daughter, Ada.
Helen was born in Cheyenne on Feb. 22, 1913, to Odell and Emma Falk Harper. She lived here until moving to Plano in the fall of 1998.
On July 6, 1940, she married
Richard Spriggs Agee in Kimball, Neb. The couple had three children, Judith Helen Agee, Richard Ellis Agee and Ada Carol Agee. Her husband preceded her in death by 56 years, leaving her to raise three children as a widow.
After her children left home for college, she volunteered at Pioneer Park School, and then worked as a teacher's aide in the school library. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cheyenne, the Mizpah Chapter Order of the Eastern Star and numerous school and church groups.
Her unique qualities of compassion for people and animals, tolerance and charity made her an example to all who knew her.
She is survived by a son, Richard Ellis Agee and his wife, Judith, of Houston; a daughter, Ada Agee Austin and her husband, Robert, of Plano; and a brother, James Harper of Fort Collins.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Judith Agee Washington in 2003.
Among her proudest accomplishments were her 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in Cheyenne.
