Elizabeth N. Coady
1914-2003
Elizabeth Nimmo Coady, 88, of Laramie died June 2 at Ivinson Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
Betty, as she was affectionately known, was born Oct. 11, 1914, in Cheyenne, a daughter to Alexander and Emily (Boyce) Nimmo. She was the sixth of seven children, born to the Nimmos, a well-known ranching family in the Cheyenne area.
Betty attended the University of Wyoming and was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority. She married
her high school sweetheart, John Erickson. They had three children, Sandra, Gail and John. After many years in the military, Betty and Col. John Erickson retired in Cheyenne.
In 1971, after the death of her first husband, Betty married
Pierce “Pete” Coady and resided in Scottsdale, Ariz. Mr. Coady died last year. In 2001, Betty came to live at Ivinson Home of Aged Ladies in Laramie.
Survivors include three children, John Erickson of Laramie, Sandy Casey and husband Frank of Columbus, Ga., and Gail Palmer and husband Bud of Maine; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Delmore Nimmo of Cheyenne.
Interment will take place at Arlington National cemetery; no services are being planned in Wyoming.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ivinson Home for Aged Ladies.

Judy Jantzen
1938-2003
Judy Jantzen, 65, of Georgetown, Texas, formerly of Glen Ellyn, Ill., died June 1 in Georgetown.
She was born April 4, 1938,in Cheyenne to Milton E. Nichols and Selma Louise (McConaghy) Nichols.
On Jan. 2, 1959, he married
Julian E. Jantzen in Denver, Colo.
She received her associate’s degree from Colorado Women’s College. Judy was the curch oganist for Faith Covenant Church in Wheaton, Ill., until retiring in 1990 after 32 years service.
She was a member of Kiwanis Club, and served on various committee chairs. Judy was an active Sun City resident, having served as chairperson of the Holiday Home Tour. She was also the Kiwanis Chairpersons for “Shoes for Orphan Souls” in the Austin area. Her happiest time in life was the time spent with her children and grandchildren.
She leaves her husband, Julian E. Jantzen of Georgetown; a son, Mit Jantzen of Dublin, N.H.; a daughter, Katie Rosenberg and husband Brian of Birmingham, Ala.; six grandchildren, Blaine and Drew Rosenberg of Birmingham, Ala., and Doak, Zak, Zoe and Phoebe Jantzen of Contoocook, N.H.; a sister, Sallie Henn and husband Charles of Fort Worth, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Milton E. and Selma L. Nichols.
A memorial service will be held celebrating Judy’s life at 10 a.m. Thursday at The Worship Place at Sun City Georgetown.

Floyd R. Morris
1952-2003
Floyd R. Morris of Cheyenne died May 31 at home with his family by his side. He was born in Woodfield, Ohio, to Floyd and Maude Morris of Mingo in Junction, Ohio.
On Nov. 30, 1952, he married
Gloria R. Olson of Pine Bluffs.
He enlisted in the Air Force on Sept. 8, 1948, and was honorably discharged on Aug. 4, 1952. He served in the Air National Guard and was honorably discharge on Aug. 15, 1991. He drove for Greyhound Bus Lines until he established Wyoming Welding and Sandblasting Company, and later he and his sons owned Cheyenne Home Improvements.
Mr. Morris is survived by his wife, Gloria; three sons, Michl, Tim, and Chris Morris, all of Cheyenne; a daughter, Lisa Hay of Cheyenne; 13 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; two brothers; and a grandson.
Mr. Morris was a very loving husband and devoted father. HE will long be remembered by the people who knew him as a loving, caring man. He left an imprint on all those who knew him.
The celebration of his life will be 2 p.m. Sundayat Calvary Chapel, 723 Storey Blvd.

Theodore Rohde
1943-2003
Theodore (Ted) Rohde, 60, of Palm Springs died May 30 after a lengthy illness.
He was born March 12, 1943.
Ted graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1967 with a bachelor’s of arts degree in English and a minor in music. After graduation, he traveled in South America before joining the Army. He was commissioned as a first lieutenant at Fort Benning, Ga., in 1968. Later, he obtained his airborne wings and Green Beret. He studied Spanish at the Presidio of Monterrey Defense Language Institute and later served in Panama and South America before serving in Vietnam. He left the Army as a captain in 1972.
He traveled the world, taught English as a second language in Sevilla, Spain, and finally settled in Denver, where he taught English and Architecture at Arapahoe Community College for 23 years. He wrote short stories and poems. He received a master’s degree in English from Northern Colorado College.
He was very passionate about the arts, and collected paintings and antiques throughout his life. He loved the opera, plays, films and classical music. He continued his love of travel until the end. Faith, family and friends were his priorities.
He is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Teri of Ann Arbor, Mich.; six nieces and nephews; many aunts, uncles and cousins; many friends throughout the world; and his special companion, Miss Tea.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Ted V. and Mary Rohde of Cheyenne.
A Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturdayat St. Mary’s Cathedral in Cheyenne.
Following the Mass, he will be buried at Olivet Catholic cemetery in Cheyenne with his parents.
Jennings Jacob King
1905-2003
Jennings Jacob King, 97, a 3 ˝-year resident of Annapolis, Md., and a former resident of Cheyenne since 1943, died on June 19 at the home of his daughter of natural causes after a one-month illness.
He was born Sept. 10, 1905, in Greely, Colo. He was a 1928 graduate of Greely State Teachers College with a Masters in science.
He started his teaching career in 1930 with Greely public schools, primarily teaching ninth- grade science. In 1932 he moved to Cheyenne to continue teaching in public schools until retiring in 1973 at the age of 70. During the summer months, he practiced as a botanist, developing various plant varieties that would grow in the Wyoming climate. After his official retirement, he continued as a substitute teacher for the next 10 years.
One of his lifetime achievements was in 1928, as he taught for two years in Sao Paulo, Brazil. While in South America, he collected botanical specimens, traveling 2,000 miles up the Amazon River.
He enjoyed fishing, bird watching, gardening and loved basketball. He was an elder and deacon at the First Presbyterian Church of Cheyenne and was a longtime Sunday school teacher.
His late wife, Helen Jesse King, whom he married
Aug. 22, 1931, died in 1990 after nearly 60 years of marriage.
He is survived by his daughter, Eva Louise Rauseo of Annapolis, Md; son, John G. King of Cheyenne; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 1-2 p.m. Sunday at the Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 106 Shamrock Rd., Chester, Md., at which time funeral services will be held.
A memorial and inurnment service will be held at a later date in Cheyenne.

Esther M. Mills
1914-2003
Esther Mae Mills, 89, of Cheyenne died June 19 at the Life Care Center.
She was born Jan. 23, 1914, in Mullett, Okla., and had lived here for 25 years.
Mrs. Mills is survived by two daughters, LaVonne Stansbury of Cheyenne and Bobbye Prichard of Port Orchard, Wash.; six grandchildren, Chriss Bridwell, Cindy Kivisto, Cathy McIntosh, Jackie Armstrong, Doug Prichard and Robin Neville; nine great-grandchildren, Tera Shults of Meeker, Colo., Cody Bridwell of Irving, Texas, Scott Armstrong and David Armstrong, both of Tacoma, Wash., Coilene Prichard, Taylor Prichard, Sam Prichard, and J.J. Neville, all of Port Orchard, and Dasha Neville of Seattle; and great-great-granddaughters, Maclaine Shults and Madison Shults, both of Meeker, and two great-great-granddaughters of Port Orchard.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Mills on Dec. 3, 1986; her parents, Willis and Almada Saylors; one grandson; and one great-granddaughter.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Johnstown cemetery in Johnstown, Colo.
Pallbearers will be Jay Kivisto, Steve McIntosh, Terry Bridwell, Cody Bridwell, Clint Shults and Doug Prichard.
Services are under the direction of Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes.

Susie B. Seard

Susie Beatrice (Hayes) Seard of Dayton, Ohio., died on May 25 in Dayton.
She was born on March 7, 1904, to Alice Bruce and Eddie Hayes in Woodville, MS.
Mrs. Seard married
Preston Seard in 1933 in Woodville.
She was a member of Ethan Temple Seventh Day Adventist Church from 1948 to 1979. She located to Cheyenne for one year and was a member of Hillcrest Seventh Day Adventist Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Anna Mae Mercier of Chicago, Arlene Gatewood and Zuri Barton, both of Dayton, Geraldine Henderson of Rialto, Calif.; a son, Marshall Seard of Oklahoma City; stepson, Preston Seard Jr. of Dayton; stepdaughter, Norma Fitz of Columbus, Ohio; 80 grandchildren; 190 great-grandchildren; 60 great-great-grandchildren; 40 great-great-great-grandchildren; 25 great-great-great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Preston; a son, Elbert; daughters, Barbara Joyce Clemmons and Mary James Gill; three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services were held on June 2 at Ethan Temple Seventh Day Adventist Church in Dayton.
Ivan B. Warren
1953-2003
Ivan B. Warren, 49, of Cheyenne died June 20 in Cheyenne.
He was born Sept. 6, 1953, in Cincinnati.
He married
Debra Jones on Dec. 15, 1973, in Eubank, Kent.
Mr. Warren was a member of First Baptist Church in Eubank.
He is survived by his wife, Debra Warren of Cheyenne; two sons, Kerry Warren and Lucas Warren, both of Cheyenne; two daughters, Katie Warren and Lindsay Warren, both of Cheyenne; mother and stepfather, Marjorie Ansiel and Billy Ansiel of Longmont, Colo.; and a sister, Cindy Moore of Eubank.
He was preceded in death by his father, Oval Gordon Warren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Schrader Chapel with the Rev. Brian High officiating.
Burial will be in Foothills Gardens of Memory in Longmont.
Mary J. Kaufman
1949-2003
Mary Jane Kaufman, 53, of Wheatland, formerly the Scottsbluff, Neb., area, died Jan. 31 at United Medical Center-West in Cheyenne from injuries sustained in a one-vehicle accident near Wheatland on Jan. 30.
She was born Nov. 23, 1949, in Scottsbluff, Neb., the daughter of Claude Clarence and Helen Jane (Ritter) Ferguson.
She married
Gary Lee Kaufman in Cheyenne on Jan. 20, 1972. The family moved to Wheatland in 1979.
Mrs. Kaufman is survived by two daughters, Cindie Tipton of Rapid City, S.D., and Candie Kaufman of Cheyenne; a stepson, Todd L. Kaufman of Holdrege, Neb.; a stepdaughter, Tammie Goddard of Wiggins, Colo.; two brothers, John Jenkins of Torrington and Jim Ferguson of Minatare, Neb.; a sister, Betty Kelly of Morrill, Neb.; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Gary, on Nov. 13, 2001.
Private memorial services were held on Feb. 4 at Platte Funeral Chapel in Wheatland with the Rev. Denzil G. Mauk officiating.

Patricia D. Salazar
1929-2003
Patricia D. Salazar, 73, of Cheyenne died Feb. 2 at United Medical Center-West.
She was born Oct. 20, 1929, in Cheyenne and had lived here all of her life.
Mrs. Salazar was the chief of centralized services for the Internal Revenue Service and retired after 24 years of service.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral.
Mrs. Salazar is survived by her husband, Benjamin Salazar of Cheyenne, whom she married
July 6, 1949, in Cheyenne; a son, Robert A. Salazar of Lakewood, Colo.; two daughters, Laura Smyth and Debra Webber, both of Cheyenne; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Salazar; her parents, Romulo and Mary Martinez; and a sister, Marie Miller.
Funeral Liturgy will be 10:30 a.m. today at St. Mary’s Cathedral with the Rev. James Schumacher as the celebrant.
Interment will be in Olivet cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Michael Salazar, Steven Salazar, Scott Casias, Brandon Casias, Aaron Casias and Christopher Casias.

Ada L. Warn
1913-2003
Ada L. Warn, 90, a former resident of Wheatland, died Feb. 2 at the Life Care Center in Cheyenne.
She was born Jan. 15, 1913, in Spooner, Wis., to Dennis and Elsie (Lawrence) Cornelison. She was reared and educated in Spooner, and graduated from Spooner High School.
She moved to Denver in the early 1930s and married
Gilbert “Red” Rogers on Sept. 1, 1933, in Denver. Several years after his death, she married
Lawrence A. “Red” Warn in Las Vegas on Jan. 18, 1972.
During World War II, she worked in Long Beach, Calif., at a defense plant. She owned and operated a restaurant and farm at Chugwater.
She was a member of the Moose Lodge and enjoyed fishing, gardening and cooking.
She is survived by a son, Jim Rogers of Cheyenne; two sisters, Olive Gehrke and Lois Kitchell, both of Wisconsin; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Gilbert Rogers in 1966; and Lawrence “Red” Warn on Jan. 14, 2002; two brothers; and two sisters.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Platte Funeral Chapel in Wheatland with Pastor Andy Gudahl officiating.
