Jerome Croft Horsley
Oct. 6, 1930 – May 9, 2004

Jerome Croft Horsley, 73, died peacefully in his sleep at his home in Provo, Utah, May 9, 2004. He was born October 6, 1930, in Lovell, the son of William Watts and Glen Croft Horsley. He married Nola Nanette Nilsson October 5, 1953, and they later divorced. Jerry was raised in Lovell, having the perfect childhood roaming the Big Horn Mountains and enjoying the family cabin. He loved to fish and hunt with his family. He graduated from Lovell High School, where he excelled in basketball and football. Following his graduation, he joined the Wyoming Army National Guard 300th Armored Field Artillery Battalion and served as an ammunition supplier in the Korean War. After one year at BYU, he went into the restaurant business and later enjoyed selling cars. In 1975 he became a real estate broker, which he continued until his retirement in 2000. With his family, he especially enjoyed camping and the outdoors; taking his grandchildren fishing was the joy of his life. Hunting deer and doves were also favorite activities. He was an avid golfer and an enthusiastic BYU and Utah Jazz sports fan. His great devotion to Alcoholics Anonymous as a dedicated sponsor to many people was unprecedented. Jerry’s love for others was unconditional and endless. He was loved and respected by all who knew him. Jerry is survived by his daughter, Catha Sue, her hustand Ralph Elder and their children Derek, Whitney, Katelyn, Spenser, Connor and Zachary, all of Seattle; one sister, Helen Horsley Kienlen of Worland; one sister-in-law, June Horsley, of Boise, Idaho; one brother, Edward and his wife, Charlene, currently serving a mission in Ghana, Africa; and many loving nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, his son Jerome Byard and an older brother, Arthur William. Funeral services were held May 13, 2004, in the Cascade Chapel at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary in Orem, Utah. Burial was May 14 in Lovell.

Edwin D. Harris
March 30, 1929 -- May 20, 2004

Edwin D. Harris, 75, of Deaver, died Thursday, May 20, 2004, at North Big Horn Hospital in Lovell. Edwin was born on March 30, 1929, in Lynn City, Mo., to Travis H. and Rosemary E. Raplee Harris. He married Leontine Knecht on April 14, 1958, in Cody. Edwin served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He has lived in Deaver area for the past 9 1/2 years, coming from Staples, Mo. Edwin is survived by his wife; son, Dale Harris of Billings; daughter, Debra Harris of Billings; granddaughter, Laura; sisters, Colleen Johnson of Surprise, Ariz., and Vondell Bell of Billings; nieces, Judy Buening and Jodi Klundt; and great nieces, Krystal Buening, Jennifer Buening, Sarah Buening and Janelle Mehling. Memorial Services were held on Wednesday, May 26, 2004, in the Deaver Cemetery. Haskell Funeral Home in Lovell was in charge of arrangements.

Jane Mohrherr
Feb 5, 1926 – March 20, 2006

Jane Mohrherr died Monday, March 20, 2006.
She was born Feb. 5, 1926, to Amelia and Thomas Biggs in Billings, Mont. She grew up in Custer, Mont., where she worked on the ranch and wrangled horses. The family later moved to Wyoming where they lived on the upper Southfork and the Lovell-Deaver area.
She was an avid reader and collected antiques.
She married Einar E. Mohrherr on Jan. 1, 1958, and they had three children, Janet, Judy and James.
Mrs. Mohrherr is survived by her brother, Burns (Bus) Biggs of Cody; daughters, Janet Hiltz of Cody and Judy (John) McWilliams of Baker, Mont.; and grandchildren, John E. (Stephanie), Jordan and Jessica of Baker; and her son, James (Elizabeth) Mohrherr of Scaramento, Calif.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son-in-law, Stacy Hiltz.
Services will be held Thursday, March 23, 2006, at 11 a.m. at Haskell Funeral Home in Lovell. Interment will follow in the Deaver Cemetery.

David R. Cozzens
Aug. 1, 1921 – March 20, 2006

David R. Cozzens, better known as Dave, died peacefully Monday, March 20, 2006, in the North Big Horn Hospital in Lovell.
After years of hard work, Dave’s body had been deteriorating for the past several years, and he was a resident for the New Horizons Care Center since January of 2005. He enjoyed the visits from friends and family and care and camaraderie of the care givers at the center. He did manage to fight the effects of poor health long enough to celebrate his 84th birthday and the 60th wedding anniversary with the love of his life, Frankie.
Dave was a lifelong member of the LDS church. He and Frankie’s marriage was solemnized in the Billings, Montana Temple in January of 2000.
Dave was born in Byron on August 1, 1921, to Matt and Marybelle (Robison) Cozzens. He was the next to the youngest child in a family of 10 children. His parents and grandparents on both the Cozzens and Robison sides, were pioneers sent to the Big Horn Basin to settle the area in 1900.
He attended schools in Byron, and was induc ted into the Army in 1942. After 18 months he left the Army as a tech sergeant with an honorable medical discharge. He returned to the Big Horn Basin, where he never gave into the pain and discomfort of his feet and leg problems. He drove truck and worked for Nicholls & Lewis and Lovell Clay Products for many years, and after retirement he was a watchman for Great Western.
However, he was better known as a horseman, as he owned horses since he was a child. Throughout his life he was known for his horse handling, and many of his closest friends shared his love of horses. Dave was also known for his stories and sense of humor. He was a keen observer of people and had a impeccable memory of folks and events.
Dave and Frankie lived most of their life together in Cowley. They raised three children, David, Leslie and Andrea. David’s daughter, Lindsay, and Leslie’s daughter, Jensen, brightened his life with their companionship and accomplishments.
Dave is survived by his wife, Frankleen (Frankie); son, David and wife Donna of Laramie and granddaughter Lindsay of New York; daughter, Leslie and husband Steve Davies of Rock Springs and granddaughter Jensen of New York; and daughter, Andrea of Cody. He is also survived by sister, Avon Brown of Bakersfield, Calif.; sisters-in-law, Bernice (Solon) Cozzens of Powell and Dorothy (Fay) Cozzens of Byron; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three infant children; his parents; brothers, Solon, Fay, Lou, and Myron; and sisters, Zula, Lydia, Genevieve and Marybelle.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 25, 2006, at 11 a.m., at the Cowley LDS Church, with burial following at the Byron Cemetery.
A viewing will be held at Haskell Funeral Home in Lovell on Friday, March 24 from 6-8 p.m.

Louene Johnson
August 30, 1933 -- March 27, 2006

Louene Johnson died peacefully on March 27, 2006, in Sandy, Utah. She was 72. She was born into the loving family of Sterling and Elma Stevens Johnson in Lovell, on August 30, 1933. She was the first of four children. She graduated from Lovell High School in 1951.
She attended Ricks College and BYU, from which she graduated in 1955 with a BA in speech pathology and audiology. Her first job was with the Wyoming State Department of Education setting up speech therapy training throughout multiple school districts in a pioneering program that paved the way for later work.
She later decided to work on a master’s degree at BYU. She also received vocal training at BYU and became an accomplished singer. She was made aware of a work opportunity in Alaska and went there in 1958.
While there, she met and married Claude Sanders in 1959 and they made their home there for two years. Their first child, Mark, was born in July of 1960. Claude was tragically killed on September of 1961 in a plane accident in Fairbanks, Alaska. His death was a devastating experience for her. At the time she was expecting her second child, Susan, born in Lovell just over a month after the loss of her husband.
After returning to Lovell and living there for four years, she decided again to work on her master’s degree in Provo, Utah, in 1965. While at BYU, she met and married Grant Lee the same year. The family moved to Tallahassee, Fla., where her husband obtained his Ph.D. While in Florida, two more daughters, Sharon and Cathy, were born, Sharon in April of 1967 and Cathy in September of 1969.
After Grant received his Ph.D., the family moved to Hillsboro, Mo., for employment. Later, the family moved to Brea, Calif., where Grant was employed with LDS Social Services. An opportunity to transfer to Utah was available and the family moved to the Cottonwood Heights area of the Salt Lake Valley. While residing there, Louene worked for six years part-time as a speech pathologist and audiologist for the Utah State Department of Education. Louene and Grant divorced after 17 years of marriage.
Louene was proud of her children and her 14 grandchildren who brought great joy to her. She was a lifelong, active member of the LDS Church and enjoyed a many service opportunities in a variety of callings. One of the great joys of her religious life was her calling to participate in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in which she sang for 15 years. She loved the experience and had wonderful trips with the choir all over the world. Her extended family was always excited to look for her in the choir’s televised broadcasts.
Louene spent her later years with Roger Dock, a wonderful and caring companion.
Louene is survived by a son and three daughters, Mark Lee, Susan Peterson, Sharon Marquez and Cathy Bell, and 14 grandchildren, all of Rich County, Utah. She is also survived by two brothers and a sister, Darwin Johnson of St. George, Utah; Linda Marchant of Bloomfield, Colo., and Paul Johnson of Rogue River, Ore. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Sofia Bell; and her former husband, Grant.
A viewing and funeral services will be held Thursday, March 30, 2006, in Murray, Utah, at the Millcreek Second Ward meeting house Thursday. The viewing is scheduled at 10 a.m. and the funeral at noon.
A family graveside service will be held at the Lovell Cemetery on Saturday, April 1 at 11 a.m.

AMY JO TIPPETTS WRIGHT
April 4, 2006

Funeral services for Amy Jo Tippetts Wright, 35-year-old Kaycee resident who passed away suddenly April 4 at her home south of Kaycee, were held at 10 a.m. April 8 from the Adams Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo with Pastor Chris Brandt officiating. Visitation was held from the funeral home chapel April 7 and 8. Burial was in the Kearney Cemetery following the funeral.Donations may be made in Amy’s memory to the Breast Cancer Foundation in care of the Adams Funeral Home at 351 N. Adams in Buffalo.
Amy Jo was born September 15, 1970 in Lovell, Wyoming to Jerry and Loretta Tippetts. She was baptized and confirmed in St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lovell.She grew up in Lovell and graduated from Lovell High School with the class of 1989. After high school she attended Northwest Community College in Powell for three years and transferred to Concordia College in Portland, Oregon, where she received a degree in education. Amy was a teacher’s aide in the Lovell school system. She was married June 15, 2002 in Lovell to Jase Wright. They made their home on the Wright family ranch south of Kaycee. Amy continued living on the ranch until the time of her death.
Amy was an accomplished musician, teaching piano and guitar to her nieces and nephews. She blessed others with her voice, singing at church, weddings and funerals. Amy also sang with the Northwest Chorale and the Casper Chorale. She loved to design and complete latch hook rugs, needlework and cross-stitch pictures, to lovingly give away as gifts to others.
She is survived by her husband Jase Wright of Kaycee; her parents Jerry and Loretta Tippetts of Lovell; two sisters Shelly Lohof and her husband Britt of Lovell and Cherie Trautman also of Lovell; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jack and Jerri Wright of Kaycee; three nephews, Casey Trautman, Jacob Lohof and Joshua Thompson and five nieces, Cori Hompson, Crystal Lohof, Codee Trautman and Kaylee and Brianna Reimler; brother and sister-in-law Tim and Jackie Reimler.

Lee Jones Wardell
Jan. 7, 1935 – April 13, 2006

Lee Jones Wardell, 71, died suddenly on April 13, 2006.
Lee was born January 7, 1935, to Linnie Dalley Jones and Albert Dalton Wardell in Lovell. Lee attended elementary school where he grew up in Otto. He finished his education in Greybull, graduating in 1953. He excelled in athletics, expecially basketball. He shared many stories of his "glory days" with his family.
Lee married Carolyn Scholes, and two sons were born to this union; the couple later divorced.
Lee then met and married Jean Harston on June 26, 1958. He adopted the daughter she brought with her. Together they made their home in Lovell, where they raised their six children in the "house that beer built."
He came from a long line of brick masons and was taught the trade by his father at a very young age, carrying hod in his adolescence and laying brick before he graduated from high school. Lee was well known for his natural talent and shared his skill and knowledge with his sons and many others. Lee practiced his trade with the Billings Local Union and was recently recognized for 50 years of service. He was the proud recipient of the prestigious Local #3 Union gold card. His life’s work took him all over the western United States, concentrated mainly in Montana and Wyoming. Jobs he was especially proud of were the Masonic Lodge and the Stockman Banks in Billings.
Lee was an avid outdoorsman. The only vacation he took yearly was to go elk hunting. He was affectionately known as "Silvertip" to many. His love and respect of the mountain and extensive knowledge of the Black Butte area were well known. His tales of the hunt were told around the campfire and will be retold for generations. When it wasn’t hunting season, Lee could be seen with his fishing pole in hand and grandchildren in tow headed to his favorite fishing hole. His other love was gardening, a legacy he passed on to his sons.
One of Lee’s greatest joys in life were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed sharing his love of the outdoors with them; all will greatly miss their Grandpa.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Anna; his father and mother-in-law, James and Opal Harston; and brothers Preston and Callis.
Lee is survived by his wife, Jean; children, Mel (Shawna) Wardell of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Lynn (Steve) Lundberg, Mark Wardell, and Jeff (Karen) Wardell all of Lovell, Bryan (Cheryl) Wardell of Laurel, Mont.,Janice (Scott) Davis of Eugene, Ore., and David Collingwood of Greybull; two brothers, Albert J. (Phern) Wardell and Mack (Bonnie) Wardell; three sisters, Merla (Reanous) Henderson, Irma (Melvin) Neves, and Joan (Bruce) Butler; 20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren with two more due to arrive in 2006.
Services were held Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Lovell. Interment followed at the Cowley Cemetery.

Katherine (Katie) W. Korell
Feb. 29, 2004 – April 14, 2006

Katherine (Katie) Korell, 102, died on Good Friday, April 14, 2006, at the Powell Health Care Nursing Home in Powell. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, April 20, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lovell.
Katie and her twin brother, Alex, were born to Christian and Elizabeth (Rempe) Wagner on February 29, 1904, in Susannental, Russia. The family came to the United States in 1913 by way of ship to Ellis Island, N.Y., then to Baltimore, Md. and traveled by train to Park City, Mont. where the family worked in the beet fields. In 1917 the Wagner family moved to Lovell.
Katie worked in a bakery and as a waitress before her marriage to life-long mate Pete Korell on January 26, 1930. They farmed for many years east of Lovell and had two daughters, Evelyn and Alma. Pete died in 1982.
In 1998 she sold her home in Lovell and moved into Rocky Mountain Manor in Powell. In July, 2001, she moved into the Powell Nursing Home where she lived until her passing.
She liked to garden and was known for her beautiful tulips at her home in Lovell. She knitted many afghans for family members, each grandchild, each great-grandchild and most of the great-great grandchildren. She liked to play pinochle, bridge and her special double solitaire and was an avid bowler until 91 years of age.
She belonged to St. John’s Lutheran Church and was a faithful member and worker.
Katie is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Evelyn and Don Bowers of Powell and Alma and Don Cardinal of Casper; nine grandchildren, Barbara Bowers and family of Lincoln, Neb., Bonnie Malcom and family of Salina, Utah, Sherry Bowers and family of Cody, Randy Bowers and family of Lovell, Steve Bowers and family of Cody, Linda Carter and family of Cheyenne, Carla Gennaro and family of Denver, Ralph Cardinal and family of St. Paul, Minn. and Caryn Young and family of Casper. Other survivors are 22 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Lydia Parks of Lovell; one brother-in-law, Harold Korell of Billings; two sisters-in-law, Katie Asay and Marguerite Korell of Lovell; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete; grandson, Donnie Bowers; her parents; four brothers and two sisters.
Memorials may be given to St. John’s Lutheran Church, to the Powell Valley Health Care or to the charity of your choice.

Marjorie Lynn Glenn
Our mother, Marjorie Lynn Glenn, died on April 22, 2006 at home in Provo, Utah after a courageous battle with cancer and declining health after extended chemotherapy. She was born July 9, 1929 in Lovell to Ervin and Clea Davis Lynn.
After graduating from Lovell High School in 1947, she enrolled at Brigham Young University where she met Avery Glenn on a blind date. They were married for all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on June 6, 1950.
Mom has always been cheerful, optimistic, and dedicated her life to serving others. Mom worked as secretary for Central Heights Elementary in Billings, Mont.; Zion’s Bank in Provo; and Joaquin Elementary in Provo until her 1992 retirement.
Always faithful to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she and Dad served a mission to Temple Square and as church service missionaries at the Provo MTC. Mom also served as Primary President and ward and stake librarian. She served as the Glenn family’s "Nephi", carefully recording events in her journals.
She is survived by her husband, Avery; children: Mike (Diann) Glenn of Salt Lake City, Pam (Gordon) Tolley of Puyallup, Wash., Debbie (Donny) Osmond of Provo; twelve grandchildren (including one born April 20, 2006); four great-grandchildren; and her brothers: Bob Lynn (Myrtle) of Denver, Colorado, Barton Lynn (Lynne) of Orem, and Dennis Lynn of Hurricane.
Services under the direction of Walker Sanderson of Orem begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 29 in the Edgemont South State Center, 350 E. 2950 N, Provo. Viewing will be Friday, April 28 from 6 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral service, both at the Stake Center. Burial will be in the East Lawn Memorial Hills Cemetery, Provo.

Frank Stringham Owen
April 23, 1930 – April 29, 2006
Frank S. Owen, 76, of Greybull, died Saturday, April 29, 2006, at Bonnie Bluejacket Memorial Nursing Home between Greybull and Basin.
Mr. Owen was born on April 23, 1930, in Cheyenne, the son of John Henry and Effie May (Stringham) Owen of Lovell. He attended school in Lovell.
He was an avid boxer in his early age, enjoyed archery as a hobby and was also very skilled in making jewelry, buckles and rattlesnake hat bands in his retirement years.
He married his wife of 51 years, Bea, on October 22, 1954, in Greybull.
Mr. Owen worked as a roofer for Jerry Brown in Cody for a few years and also became a truck driver, working in Worland, the Gillette area and also in Bozeman, Mont. Moving to Seattle in 1966, he continued to drive trucks for 29 years until he retired to Greybull 10 years ago.
He was preceded in death by his parents, twin children, Robert and Roberta Owen, and one grandson, Howard Cain.
He is survived by his wife, Bea Owen of Greybull; children, John H. Owen of Seattle and Effie Cain of San Bernadino, Calif.; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 5, 2006, at 10 a.m. at the Atwood Family Chapel, 620 Greybull Ave., Greybull. Burial will follow at the Lovell Cemetery in Lovell.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 4, at the Atwood Family Chapel in Greybull from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Friday, May 5, one half hour prior to the services.
A memorial fund has been established at Bank of Greybull, 601 Greybull Ave., Greybull, WY 82426, to benefit the Bonnie Bluejacket Memorial Nursing Home.

LeRoy "Roy" Lindsay
Nov. 16, 1929 – May 4, 2006
Former Lovell resident LeRoy "Roy" Lindsay died Thursday, May 4, 2006, of natural causes at his home in Benbrook, Texas, a suburb of Fort Worth.
Born in Thermopolis November 16, 1929, and raised in Lovell, Roy attended school in Lovell and worked off and on with his father, LeRoy, a professional electrician.
He later served a successful mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he was called to his mother’s homeland of Sweden. After his mission he served in the Air Force and was stationed for a time in Anchorage, Alaska.
Mr. Lindsay’s military experience and expertise sent him to Fort Worth, where he was employed by Bell Helicopters.
He is survived by his wife, Loida, to whom he was married for 51 years; and their four children, Geralda (Paul) Justice, Shirley Lindsay, Roy (Cindy) Lindsay and Carla (Jeff) Bancroft. He will be especially missed by his 13 grandchildren on whom he doted.
Of his five surviving siblings, four still live in the Lovell area, including Dorcus (D.V.) Anderson, Dorothy (Gerald) Brinkerhoff, Ronald Lindsay and Grace Asay. His older sister, Thressa Smith, lives in Midvale, Utah.
A military funeral for Mr. Lindsay was held on May 10, 2006.

Rex Sprouse
Jan. 25, 1928 – May 13, 2006
Rex Sprouse of Lovell died early Saturday, May 13, 2006, at Deaconess Billings Clinic after a long battle with cancer.
Rex was born January 25, 1928, in Callaway, Neb., to George and Adelheit (Vollenweider) Sprouse. He was the youngest of eight children. He grew up in Callaway and apprenticed as a mechanic for two years with his brother, Roger "Peg." He served in Korea in 1946-47, then returned to Callaway to work as a mechanic and a volunteer fireman.
On March 9, 1949, Rex married Marjorie Timmons of Oconto, Neb. They had three daughters, who were all born in Callaway.
In 1955, Rex was hired by Sid Ryan to be a mechanic at his car dealership in Lovell. Rex, Marge and the three girls made the move to Wyoming where he resided until his death. During those years he worked for Sid Ryan for two years, the Warren lime quarry for several months and Ward Chevrolet for 12 years before starting his own business, Sprouse Motors. He retired from mechanic work in 1992. In 1994 he went to work for Georgia Pacific as a night watchman for seven years. Rex was also a charter member of North Big Horn Search and Rescue, which he helped establish in 1972.
The last five years of his life were spent enjoying his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, being part of the 8:00 coffee shift at Minchow’s, taking care of his yard and trying to win the lottery. Even on his last trip to Billings to be admitted to the hospital, he made sure he stopped at Bridger to buy his lottery ticket (no, it wasn’t a winner).
Rex battled cancer with strength and courage for more than ten years. He was eventually diagnosed with three different cancers simultaneously. His case was so rare that Dr. Thomas Purcell, MD, lectured his case at Johns Hopkins Medical School.
Rex was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Nigel, Albert and Waldo; and two sisters, Dolly and Wanda.
Rex is survived by his wife; three daughters, Judy Tippetts and Becky (Ron) Korell, both of Lovell, and Connie (Peter) Salm of West Valley City, Utah; seven grandchildren, Brook (Brandy) Tippetts and Sam Korell, both of Lovell, Karee Korell of Seattle, Matthew (Chasity) Korell of Miles City, Mont., Kensey, Jaclyn and Gentry Salm of West Valley City, Utah; and four great-granddaughters, Masey and Larissa Tippetts of Lovell and SheaLee and Kaitlyn Korell of Miles City. He is also survived by one sister and one brother, Arlene Province and Roger Sprouse, both of Madras, Ore.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 16, 2006, at the United Methodist Church of Lovell with Pastor Catherine Moorehead officiating. Arrangements were provided by Haskell Funeral Home of Lovell and Stevenson’s and Sons Funeral Home of Miles City.
