Cody Shawn Dagley
Cody Shawn Dagley, 17, was born Dec. 18, 1991, on his big brother Kenny’s birthday. He was born in Afton, the fourth of six children. He has two brothers and three sisters. He died June 12, 2009. Cody was always a happy little boy. He always had a smile on his face. He will always be remembered for always having a smile on his face. He loved to tease and make people feel happy. He was a very kind, caring and tenderhearted young man. Cody loved to hunt, fish and go camping. He loved football also, but decided that hunting was more important. He was able to get himself a nice bull elk last fall with his bow for the first time and he was so excited. Cody enjoyed going hunting with his Dad and sister, Kelsi. He loved to spend time with family and cousins and go camping. When he would come home from school he would do his chores if he had some or ask if he could do them when he got home, then head down to the fishing hole or go shooting. He loved to be outside and enjoyed the outdoors. Cody’s little nieces and nephews loved cody. He was always so kind and patient with them. If his little niece called she would want to know what Cody was doing. His family always told Cody that he would make a great dad because he was so good with kids and they loved him. Cody loved to play games, play in Stump Creek, the Hog Hole and the creek that ran by his house. He spent hours playing in the water with his sisters and cousins. He always wanted his Mom to come and watch him. He was always so happy when he was playing with his family or cousins.
Cody spent days every spring helping his family fence for his grandparents. He was always willing to go and help his grandparents if they needed something. Almost two years ago Cody accidental shot a friend of his in the arm. It devastated Cody, even though it was an accident. He always tried to be happy, but we knew that it was extremely difficult for him. He was so kind hearted and caring that we knew it was tearing him up. AS a family we did everything that we could to try and help him. Cody was a very good young man. He didn’t go out drinking, but the night that he died he rode with two others to a party, and someone brought up the shooting accident, and it really upset him to the point where he was crying and went outside. A message that we feel that Cody would leave is to recognize who you truly are inside, and let your words build each other up and not tear each other down. Cody did not like to hear gossip, nor did he like to speak unkindly about anyone. Cody was preceded in death by his grandfather, LaDee Chadwick. He is survived by his parents, Shawn and Larissa Dagley; brothers and sisters, Kenny (Kelly) Iott; Brian (Hattie) Iott; Jennifer (AJ) Clinger; Kelsi Dagley and Ashley Dagley. He is also survived by his grandparents Dick and Shirley Taylor and Marilyn and Curtis Dagley.

Audry was the third child in the family and joined older brothers Leroy and Floyd. When Audry was three months old, her family moved to Star Valley. Brothers Melvin, Sterling and sisters Ruby and Thelma were born after this move. Audry lived in Star Valley her entire life with the exception of a short time that she lived in Evanston, Wyoming and Grace, Idaho. At an early age Audry taught herself to read music and could soon play by ear any tune that hit her fancy. Audry attended schools in Afton but quit school after the 10th grade to stay home and take care of her mother who was very ill and also her younger sister. When Audry was 15 she developed juvenile arthritis and they put her arm in a cast. When the cast was removed her arm had atrophied. The doctor said they only thing that saved her from losing the arm was that even though she had a cast on, she had continued playing the piano just using her fingers. In November of 1935 she went to a dance in Grover and met Boyd Lainhart. He was in Star Valley with the CC camp and had come from Kentucky. Mom and Dad were married in Paris, Idaho on July 31, 1936. They were sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple July 31, 1959. Boyd and Audry had a large family of twelve children- Vada, Vola, Vatia, Deland, MaryAnn, Genevieve, Sherman, Dorthy, Larry, Laura and Amanda Ellen. Their first child, Vada B. Lainhart was born in February of 1937. A few months later Vada became very ill and on May 25, 1937 passed away. On July 28, 1958 their son Boyd R was hit by a car in front of their home as he was crossing the road. His life was taken in this accident. In 2000, Mother’s oldest living daughter, Vola Mae, passed away after experiencing a brain aneurysm. Mother never felt it was right that she outlived her children. In June of 1988, Boyd, Audry’s husband, was diagnosed with cancer. He passed away in April, 1989. Audry was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved to read the scriptures and was knowledgeable about the gospel. She was a premier genealogist and found great joy in doing this work for 50 to 60 years. At the age of 91 she was still a staff member of the Family History Center and also did extraction work in her home. In the past two years she had indexed 135,704 names and had 5,303 names arbitrated. Audry loved to serve others and never turned anyone away. She was a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother to many. Audry Lainhart passed away on July 20, 2009 in the comfort of her home.
