Joan L. Phillips
1949 - 2006
After a valiant three - year battle with ovarian cancer, Joan Lynn Phillips, 56, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday morning, Oct. 17.
She was born Nov. 19, 1949, in Cheyenne.
Beloved wife of Bob Phillips, and cherished mother of Jill and David Phillips, Joan is also survived by her mother, Edith Puett; her brother, Dan Puett and his wife, Barb; and her brother, Mark Puett and his wife, Gayle.
Joan loved teaching, fishing, cooking, painting, gardening and, most of all, sharing her life with others.
Her smile, her laughter, her generosity and selflessness will be remembered by all who knew her.
A celebration of Joan's life will be from 3 - 5 p.m. today at the Kiwanis Community House in Lions Park for family and friends to bring and share photos and fond memories of their time with Joanie.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Joan Phillips Memorial Fund at Cheyenne State Bank, attn: Lynn Davenport, 101 W. 19th St., Cheyenne WY 82001. This fund will benefit Bain Elementary and the children Joan so dearly loved.

Marina E. Wiggins
1922 - 2006
Marina E. Wiggins, 84, of Cheyenne died Oct. 19 in Kimball, Neb.
She was born May 28, 1922, in Dalton, Neb.
Mrs. Wiggins married Charles A. Wiggins on Sept. 28, 1947, in Sidney, Neb.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Wiggins was a legal secretary for Harry B. Henderson Attorney and Associates and a medical secretary and office manager for Duane M. Kline, M.D., spanning 45 years.
She is survived by her son, Gregg L. Wiggins of Phoenix; a brother, Leonard S. Mayer of Cheyenne; and two grandchildren.
Mrs. Wiggins was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Wiggins in 1963; her parents, Edward A. and Minnie Ann Mayer; a sister, Rowena B. Busacker; and a brother, Arthur L. Mayer.
No services will be held.
Friends may contribute to a charity of choice.

Betty P. Demshar
1924 - 2006
Betty P. Demshar, 82, of Cheyenne died Oct. 18 at Lifecare Center of Cheyenne.
She was born April 13, 1924, in Coloretto Giacosa, Italy.
Mrs. Demshar worked in retail sales until she retired and moved to Cheyenne in 1988.
She married John P. Demshar on Sept. 28, 1947, in Rock Springs.
Mrs. Demshar is a member of St. Mary's Cathedral and Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Rock Springs.
She is survived by three sons , John P. Demshar III, of Lodi, Calif., James W. Demshar, of Cheyenne, and Joseph A. Demshar, of Arlington, Va.; eight grandchildren and three great - grandchildren.
Mrs. Demshar was preceded in death by her husband, John P. Demshar Jr.; her parents, Anthony and Margarita Caserio; a brother, James Caserio; and one great - granddaughter.
Funeral Liturgy will be at 1 p.m. today at St. Mary's Cathedral with the Rev. Gary Ruzicka officiating.
Burial will be in Olivet Cemetery. Cremation has taken place at Schrader's Sunset Park Crematory.
Friends may contribute to the American Cancer Society.

Jaunita D. Patterson
1920 - 2006
Jaunita D. Patterson, 86, of Cheyenne died Oct. 20 at Lifecare Center of Cheyenne.
She was born Sept. 13, 1920, in Goshen County. She had lived in Cheyenne since 1983 with prior residence in Hawk Springs and Guernsey.
Jaunita was a beautician for many years and was also involved with the Senior Companion and Foster Grandparent programs at Afflerbach Elementary.
She was a member of the Airport Golf ladies leagues and bridge club.
Jaunita is survived by a sister - in - law, Etta Lou David of Buhl, Idaho; two sons and two daughters, Leroy and Linda Patterson of Cheyenne, Buck and Connie Patterson of Guernsey, Sharon and Terry Wilson of Thayne and Sun Lakes, Ariz., and Dixie Jones of Omaha, Neb.; 14 grandchildren; and 31 great - grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ed David; her mother, Inez David; a sister, Flora David; and two brothers, Lon David and Dewey David.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Torrington Cemetery with the Rev. Ora Dailey officiating.
Pallbearers will be Leroy Patterson, Buck Patterson, Terry Wilson, Tory Patterson, Steve Allarid and Matt Allarid.
Friends may contribute to Lifecare Center of Cheyenne Activities Fund, Senior Companion Program, Veterans of Foreign Wars of Guernsey or a charity of choice.
To the many caregivers at Lifecare Center of Cheyenne, the family thanks you.
Services are under the direction of Schrader's Funeral Home.

Blanche V. George
1919 - 2006
Blanche V. George, 87, of Cheyenne died Oct. 20 at the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 21, 1919, in Ault, Colo.
Mrs. George married Orval George on Oct. 10, 1955, in Pueblo, Colo.
She was a hostess and waitress at Little America.
Mrs. George is survived by her daughters, Cindy Hooper of Cheyenne and Shirley Bradshaw of Aurora, Colo.; a stepson, Merle George of Cheyenne; six grandchildren; and 10 great - grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Orval; a daughter, Caroline Sidwell; her parents, William and Ruth Willis; a brother, Carl Willis; and a sister, Thelma Diehl.
The funeral is set for 9 a.m. today at Schrader Chapel with the Rev. Timothy Reed officiating. Burial will be at Evans Cemetery in Evans, Colo.
Friends may send contributions in memory of Mrs. George to Schrader Funeral Home, 2323 Carey Ave., Cheyenne WY 82001.

Brian C. Alonzo
1976 - 2006
Brian "Caleb" Alonzo, 29, left behind friends and family on Oct. 22 in Cheyenne.
He was the son of Daniel Alonzo and Dephne Garcia.
Brian was born on Dec. 8, 1976, in Cheyenne.
He was raised in Cheyenne and graduated from High School III in 1996.
Brian was employed by Pole Mountain Electric and was currently obtaining his electrical journeyman license.
Brian was active for many years in Cheyenne softball, golf and pool leagues.
He enjoyed cooking and creating artwork and had a true passion for spending time outdoors, especially fishing the lakes of Wyoming. To Brian, the most important things in life revolved around family and friends and his loving personality brought life and laughter to all those fortunate enough to share in these times with him.
Brian is survived by his wife Joanna, whom he married Oct. 7, 1999; and the two beautiful children they were blessed with, Mikalah Rene Alonzo, born June 16, 1997, and Joseph Daniel Perfecto Alonzo, born Dec. 1, 2001. He is also survived by his parents, Daniel Alonzo of Denver and Dephne and Johnnie Garcia of Cheyenne; his father - in - law, Joseph Hernandez; his mother - in - law, Esther Vigil; two brothers and a sister - in - law, Michael Garcia and Donovan and Ronna Alonzo; three sisters and two brother - in - laws, Alisha Garcia, Jacquelyn Garcia and J.J. Padilla - McCool, and Jana Garcia - Tompkins and Mark Tompkins; a brother - in - law, Luke Montoya; sister - in - law and brother - in - law, Sandra and Chico Gonzalez; his nieces and nephews, Brent and Victoria Alonzo, Lydia and Ebony Garcia, Brenden Padilla - McCool, Derrek McNally, and Bryant and Tanya Montoya and several other nieces and nephews; his grandparents, Phyllis Alonzo, Gerald McHenry, Dorthea Parker and Viola Garcia, all of Cheyenne.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Joe L. Alonzo and Cipriano Garcia; his grandmother, Retta McHenry; and his beloved aunt, Deb Ornelas.
Funeral Liturgy will be 10:30 a.m. today at St. Mary's Cathedral with the Rev. Ray Rodriguez as the celebrant.
Interment will be in Olivet Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Michael Garcia, Donovan Alonzo, Anthony Ornelas, Cippy Valdez, Jerry Barela and J.J. Padilla - McCool.
Honorary pallbearers will be Justin Alonzo, Christopher McHenry, Brandon McHenry and Robert Rodriguez.
In lieu of flowers, a charitable trust has been established for Brian's children, Joseph and Mikalah Alonzo. Donations may be made at any Bank of the West location.
