LeRoy S. Alarid
LeRoy S. Alarid, 71 of Cheyenne, formerly of Laramie, died, Friday, April 27, 2007 at United Medical Center in Cheyenne.
He was born August 28, 1935 in Las Vegas, New Mexico to Antonio and Adela (Romero) Mora. He grew up in Mora, New Mexico. He was raised by his grandparents; Trivino and Virginia Alarid. He later married Helen Segura in Mora, New Mexico.
He was a member of St. Laurence O’Toole Catholic Church. His hobbies included spending time with his family and friends. He loved going fishing with his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his two great - grandchildren; Ashton and Caylee Alarid who he loved spending time with. He will be deeply missed by all his family, friends, and all of his grandchildren who he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Helen, and a daughter Frances Alarid.
He is survived by six daughters, Mary Lang of Fargo, ND; Stefanie Segura of Cheyenne, WY; Julie Alarid of Laramie; Josie Butler of Page, SC; JoAnne Alarid of Grand Forks, ND; Theresa Silvia of Wheatland, WY; son John Segura of Cheyenne, WY; three sisters Becky Romero of Albuquerque, NM; Rosalita Jaramillo and Angie Mora both of Laramie; seven brothers Alex Mora of Mora, NM; Willie Mora of Idaho Springs, CO; Trivy Mora of Rock Springs, WY; Gilbert Mora, Jimmy Mora, Bobby Mora, Albert Mora all of Laramie; 15 grandchildren, Brandi, Mandi, Melissa, Matthew, Jeremy, Katie, Kelly, Markie, Stephen, Kimberly, Jessica, Brandon, John, Brenden, and Brayden; 3 great - grandchildren, Ashton, Caylee, Hailey; and special friends Mike Alen, Aron, and Amber Urbin.
Funeral Liturgy will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, May 4, 2007 at St. Laurence O’Toole Catholic Church with the Reverend Fr. James Schumacher Celebrant. Inurnment will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. Mary Lillian Johnston
Johnston, Mary Lillian, 70, of Laramie died Thursday May 3 at her home. She was born July 9, 1936 in Wheatland, Wyoming the daughter of Fred and Mary (Trujillo) Santillanes. She married Norman W. Johnston in Stockton, Kansas on April 21, 1953 and later divorced. She spent her retirement enjoying her grandchildren and gardening.
She was a member of St. Laurence O’Toole Catholic Church and the Husted - Pendleton American Legion Post Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, Wendall Guy Ward Johnston, a great granddaughter, Brandy Miller and three brothers, Robert, Joe and Raymond Santillanes.
She is survived by five daughters, Linda O. Johnston - Adams of Aurora, CO; Vivian Madrid and husband David of Laramie, WY; Joyce Smith of Laramie, WY; Crystal Johnston of Ft. Myers Beach, FL; and Laurie Jo Weber and husband Jeff of Laramie, WY; one brother Fred Santillanes of Katy, TX; a sister Alberta Perez of Denver, CO; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral liturgy will be held Wednesday, May 9 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Laurence O’Toole Catholic Church with Reverend James Schumacher, celebrant. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 8 from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Montgomery - Stryker Funeral Home.
Memorial may be made to the Mary Lillian Johnston Memorial Fund, 1409 Renshaw St., Laramie, WY.
Rhoda Owen Lewis
Rhoda Owen Lewis was born in Medicine Lodge, Kansas on February 13, 1943 to Neil and Bertie Owen. On April 19 at the age of 64, she passed away at Ivinson Memorial Hospital in Laramie, Wyoming. She is survived by her sons Robert Craig and William Lee.
Rhoda earned a B.S. degree in Education from Chadron State College and an M.A. degree in Anthropology from the University of Wyoming. She worked in the field of archaeology for more than 30 years, retiring in 2005 from her position as Regional Archaeologist for the Fish and Wildlife Service in Denver, Colorado.
Rhoda's family and friends will hold a memorial in celebration of her life at a later date. Richard W. Weeks
Weeks, Richard William, 85 of Laramie, died Monday, April 30, 2007 at his home. He was born March 21, 1922 in Monterey Park, California the son of Frank and Charline (Brown) Weeks. After graduation from high school he served in the United States Navy during WWII in the European Theatre. He married Sharon Smith on January 9, 1964 in Elko, Nevada.
Richard attended the California Institute of Technology and received a bachelor’s degree in Physics, a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and his Doctorate degree from Montana State College. He taught Electrical Engineering at the University of Wyoming.
He was a past member of the Moose Lodge No. 390, the Izaak Walton League, AARP and was a Registered Electrical Engineer with the State of Wyoming. Richard served on the Laramie City Council from 1968 - 1974 and was mayor from 1971 - 1973. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, skiing, handball, racquetball, and especially photography.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Richard is survived by his wife Sharon Weeks of Laramie, WY; a daughter Teri D. Taylor and her partner Gene Johnson of Laramie, WY; a son Bradley B. Weeks and his wife Wendy of Tucson, AZ; two sisters Betty Wester and her husband Bernie of Novato, CA; and Pat Wilber of Corona, CA; four grand daughters Tesa J. Taylor, Savanna M. Nasworthy, Hannah G. Weeks and Amelia R. Weeks, and a grandson Anthony J. Taylor.
There will be a time of sharing and a celebration of his life that will be held beginning at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 5 at the family home in Laramie.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Eppson Center for Seniors, P.O. 1755, Laramie, WY 82073 or to the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 1402 East Gibbon St., Laramie, WY 82072. Cremation has taken place at Albany Crematory under the direction of Montgomery - Stryker Funeral Home.
Gianna K. Runkel
Gianna Kay Runkel, newborn daughter, died Oct. 6 at Presbyterain - St. Luke's Hospital of Denver.
She was born Oct. 5 in Denver.
Gianna is survived by her parents, Mitchell James Runkel Sr., and Lisa Marie Trujillo, both of Cheyenne; a brother, Mitchell James Runkel Jr. of Cheyenne; grandparents, Scott and Rita Sheppard, Carlos Trujillo and Janet Espinoza and R. Jeff Byrne, all of Cheyenne; and Karen and Terry Board of Ludington, Mich.; and several great - grandparents and great - great - grandparents; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Vigil for the Deceased will be at 8:15 p.m. Thursday at Schrader Chapel.
Funeral Liturgy will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Cathedral with Father Glen Szczechowski officiating.
Pallbearers will be Mitchell James Runkel Sr. and Andrew Jess Arellano.
Friends may contribute to St. Mary's Cathedral.
Nathan E. Newport
1945 - 2006
Nathan Earl Newport, 61, of Cheyenne died Oct. 7 in Cheyenne.
He was born June 2, 1945, in Cheyenne.
Mr. Newport was an automotive mechanic.
He served in the Marines during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by his son, Marty Newport of Egbert; two daughters, Yvonne Shoughro and Natalie Ranney, both of Las Vegas; two brothers, Douglas Newport of Cheyenne and Sidney Newport of Maysville, Ky..; two sisters, Eleanor Sterman of Cheyenne and Voncele Brown of San Diego; and six grandchildren.
Mr. Newport was preceded in death by her parents, Mearl C. "Jack" and Joyce O. (Birt) Newport.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Schrader Chapel with the Rev. Nadine Korhonen officiating.
Private interment will be in Fort Logan National Cemetery.
Katherine B. Bass
1926 - 2006
Katherine B. Bass, 80, of Cheyenne died Oct. 9 in Cheyenne Regional Medical Center.
She was born March 10, 1926, in Manhattan, N.Y.
She married William F. Bass on Nov. 4, 1950, in Cranford, N.J.
Mrs. Bass was a legal secretary for her husband's law practice.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Bass is survived by a son, Thomas Bass of Cheyenne; two daughters, Sarah Bass of Clark, N.J., and Susan Bass of San Jose, Calif.; a sister, Sarah Decker of Somerset, N.J.; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Bass; and her parents, John and Mildred (Kenney) Brooks.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
Cremation - Schrader's Sunset Park Crematory.
Friends may contribute to a charity of donor's choice.

Gilbert L. Crumrine
1921 - 2006
Gilbert L. Crumrine, 85, of Cheyenne, died Oct. 7.
He was born June 2, 1921, in Baileyville, Kan., and had lived here since 1974.
Mr. Crumrine was a service technician and the service manager for Montgomery Wards and had served in the Army. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Elks and VFW Post 4343.
Mr. Crumrine is survived by his wife, Eloise H. Crumrine of Cheyenne, whom he married June 25, 1950, in Topeka, Kan.; two daughters, Diane Milatzo of Cheyenne and Geraldine Harris of Jalon, Calif.; and one sister, Wilma Pearson of Herington, Kan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Margaret Crumrine; and one son, James Crumrine.
Vigil for the Deceased will be 7 p.m. Thursday at Wiederspahn - Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes.
Funeral Liturgy will be 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas Cronkleton as Celebrant.
Interment will be in Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Kili Harris, Steve Wood, Dan Pendlan, Jim Milatzo and Ken Kiper. Honorary pallbearer will be John Milatzo.
Friends may contribute to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center Hospice or Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Honor Guard.
