Anna C. Humphrey
1921 - 2006
Anna C. Humphrey, 84, of Cheyenne died Oct. 2 at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 15, 1921, in Burns.
Mrs. Humphrey taught school in the rural areas of Laramie County before marrying Delbert C. Humphrey on Sept. 20, 1943, in Palacios, Texas, and moving to Cheyenne.
She then worked for 22 years at First Wyoming Bank. After retiring, Anna returned to her love of teaching by becoming a foster grandmother.
She enjoyed working with the children and staff of Afflerbach Elementary for the past 13 years.
Mrs. Humphrey was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
She will be greatly missed by her children, Elizabeth Campbell of Cheyenne, Della and Gene Grams of Grand Junction, Colo., Mitchel and Pat Humphrey and Helen and Todd Stalker, all of Cheyenne; grandchildren, Shelly (Grams) and David Heck of Gilbert, Ariz., Carrie (Campbell) and Joseph Selfridge, John and Shelly Humphrey and Sheriedan Grannan, all of Cheyenne; eight great - grandchildren; one sister, Polly Poteet of Sheridan; and one brother, John McDowell of Maryland.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert C. Humphrey; a grandson, Delbert M. Humphrey; her parents, Walter and Belle McDowell; and two brothers, Parmer and Willard McDowell.
The funeral is 3:30 p.m. Friday at Wiederspahn - Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes with the Rev. Nadine Korhonen officiating.
Interment will follow at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
Friends may contribute to the Foster Grandparent Program, Cheyenne Candlelighters or the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens.
Bertha Fanning
Fanning, Bertha M., 95, of Laramie died Friday February 18, 2005 at Cheyenne Healthcare Center in Cheyenne. She was born April 18, 1909 in Williston, North Dakota the daughter of John and Anna (Kassis) Shikany. She moved to Casper at an early age where she graduated from Natrona High School before attend the Art Institute in Chicago. She married Hugh L. Fanning in Casper, Wyoming August 24, 1935. The family had lived at various locations before moving to Laramie in the early 1940’s where she raised her family. As a homemaker she enjoyed her family, was an avid Bridge player, and loved to travel.
She was a member of St. Laurence O’Toole Catholic Church, the Catholic Council of Women where she was a member of the Guardian Angel Group, the Ivinson Memorial Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, and the Duplicate Bridge Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Hugh, a son Michael J. Fanning, one grandchild Marian Baumgartner and all of her siblings.
She is survived by her children, Ann Marie Baumgartner and her husband Dr. Roger of Edina, MN; Ila Mae Occhipinti of Cheyenne, WY; Dr. H. Paul Fanning and his wife Sheryl of Cheyenne, WY; Tracy Giles and her husband Monte of Richland, WA; and Mary J. O’Flannigan and her husband Jim of Laramie, WY, twenty three grandchildren and twenty two great grandchildren.
Vigil and rosary services will be held Wednesday, February 23 at 6:00 p.m. at St. Laurence O’Toole Catholic Church. Funeral liturgy will be held Thursday February 24, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Laurence O’Toole Catholic Church with the Reverend Fr. James Schumacher, celebrant. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jon Baumgartner, Jay Baumgartner, Michael Occhipinti, Nathan Giles, Brian O’Flannigan, Timothy O’Flannigan and Michael Giles. Honorary pallbearers will be her remaining grandchildren. Memorials may be made to St. Laurence School or St. Laurence O’Toole Catholic Church, 617 So. 4th St., Laramie, WY 82070 or to the St. Joseph’s Children’s Home at P. O. Box 1117, Torrington, WY 82240.
Marjorie Jayne Stacy
Stacy, Marjorie Jayne, 87, of Laramie, passed away on March 13 at Ivinson Memorial Hospital. She was born in Middletown, Ohio on April 8, 1917, the daughter of George B. and Hazel (Botts) Shepard. During World War II, she worked at Wright Field in Dayton, Ohio, where she met her future husband, Ralph W. Stacy. Afterward, she attended Ohio State, Miami, and Southern Illinois Universities, where she studied art education. She also taught English as a Second Language at Durham (NC) Technical Institute. In addition to a lifelong interest in music, she bred and showed champion Scottish Terriers and Rough Collies.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 42 years, and two siblings.
She is survived by two sisters, Frances Gardner of Holland, Ohio, and Mildred Weir of Ypsilanti, Michigan, and a sister - in - law Nancy J. Greene of Middletown, Ohio. Other survivors include her son, William B. Stacy of Laramie; a daughter, Susan M. Stacy of Middletown, Ohio; two grandchildren, Andrea Wilkison of Laramie and Krista Metzger of Cheyenne, WY; a daughter - in - law, Julia Combs of Laramie; a grandson - in - law, Randall Wilkison of Laramie; and great - grandchildren, Amanda, Kelby, and Brady Wilkison, and Jessi Metzger.
Private family memorial services will be held in Laramie and Middletown, Ohio. She will be interred with her husband at the Veterans’ Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio.

Services are under the direction of Montgomery - Stryker Funeral Home.
Betty Lou Lloyd
Lloyd, Betty Lou, 72, of Laramie died Saturday May 5, 2007 at her home. She was born September 4, 1934 in Denver, Colorado the daughter of Gilbert and Twila (Owens) Beets, Sr. The family had moved to Hanna, Wyoming where she graduated from high school. She married Ellery Lloyd in Laramie, Wyoming April 1, 1960. She worked for the University of Wyoming in the custodial department for many years. She enjoyed her family and loved crocheting and outings. She also loved to play games with family.
She attended Harvest Christian Center and was a member of the Women of the Moose.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ellery, a son Randy Lloyd, and a sister Barbara Beets.
She is survived by a daughter Barbara Becker and husband Tim; a sister Nancy Shaner and husband Don; a brother Junior Beets and wife Nora all of Laramie, WY; grandchildren, Andy Branson, Chris Branson, and Matt Branson all of Laramie, WY; and Drew Becker and Amanda Becker both of Kearney, NE. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday May 11 at 3:00 p.m. at Montgomery - Stryker Funeral Home with the Reverends Dave Garrett and John Welch officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mike Garrett, Chuck Branson, Steve Rauer, Michael Honea, Dean Gallegos and Casey Deren. Honorary pallbearers will be Monty Sullivan, Larry Beets, Terry Beets, Garrett Engen, Josh Blake and Drew Becker.
Visitation will be held Friday May 11 from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Harvest Christian Center, 4700 E. Skyline Drive, Laramie, WY 82070.
Betty M. Schroeder
Betty M. (Brosious) Schroeder, 95, of Laramie, died, Sunday, April 22, 2007 at Ivinson Memorial Hospital.
Betty was born June 28, 1911 in Kane, WY to Joseph T. and Mary M. (Herren) Brosious, pioneers of Big Horn County. She grew up in the Kane community and attended elementary grades there. She graduated from Thermopolis High School in 1929. On July 12, 1932 she married Henry L. Schroeder in Billings, MT. They had two daughters Evelyn Janet Phifer of Pasco, WA and Janice Lynn Harvey of Laramie. She taught for three years in Big Horn County. Later she attended the University of Wyoming and received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education in 1961. She worked as a substitute teacher in the Laramie school system for many years. After receiving her degree she taught third grade at Beitel Elementary School for thirteen years.
She was a fifty year member of Snowy Range Chapter 45 O.E.S., a member of the United Methodist Church for over fifty years, and a member of the United Methodist Women.
She and her husband spent many years after their retirement traveling and spent winters in Wickenburg, AZ for eleven years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Henry, a sister and two brothers.
She is survived by her daughters Evelyn Janet Phifer and husband Zack of Pasco, WA; Janice Lynn Harvey of Laramie; sister Maxine Bushonge of Hedgesville, WV; six grandchildren Jay Weber and wife Joanne of Pasco, WA; Beth Darby and husband Mark of Somonauk, IL; Dr. Kyle Weber and wife Sue of Kalispell, MT; Joni Darby of Sandwich, IL; Robin L. Hastings and husband Terrell of Greeley, CO; Mark Harvey of Fort Collins, CO; ten great - grandchildren; and two great - great - grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place and private family services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made in Betty’s name to The National Wildlife Federation; 11100 Wildlife Center Dr. Reston, VA 20190 - 5362.
Clara A. Hayden
Hayden, Clara A., 93, of Laramie died Saturday May 12, 2007 at Ivinson Memorial Hospital. She was born April 30, 1014 in Elwood, Nebraska the daughter of John and Katheran (Jorges) Seiz. She attended Elwood Public Schools and the Nebraska Business College in Hastings, Nebraska. She married Theodore Hayden September 8, 1940 in Saratoga, Wyoming, living in Rawlins until 1942 when they moved to Laramie. She had been employed at the University of Wyoming and the Albany County School District, retiring in 1974. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, playing cards and traveling.
She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Holliday Circle, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, AARP, Women of the Moose, the Heritage Club and several card clubs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, two sisters, one great granddaughter, a niece and nephew.
She is survived by her son James Hayden and wife Sue of Cheyenne, WY; a daughter Sharleen Kominsky and husband Ray of Jackson, WY; six grandchildren, Ted and Jim Hayden; Michelle, Nichole, Douglas and Heather Kominsky; and nine great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Monday May 14 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Trinity Lutheran Church, 107 So. 7th Street, Laramie, WY; or to Meals on Wheels.
Curtis T. Shoefelt
Curtis Todd Shoefelt, 42, of Denver, formerly of Laramie, passed away on April 28, 2007 at his home in Denver. Curtis was born in Laramie on April 26, 1965 to Donald and Wilma (Cairns) Shoefelt. He graduated from Laramie High School and the University of Wyoming. After graduating from University of Wyoming, Curtis worked as a computer programmer in Denver.
He is survived by his parents, Don and Wilma Shoefelt; his brother Roger Shoefelt and wife Kathy; nephews, Cliff and Kevin; his brother Mike Shoefelt and wife Debbie; and nephews, Bradley and Ryan, all of Laramie.
Cremation has taken place with a private family service.
Helen Louise Ross
Helen Louise Ross, 93, of Laramie, died, Monday, May 7, 2007 at Ivinson Memorial Hospital.
Helen was born June 20, 1913, one month after the death of her father. Helen Louise Moore was raised by her mother, Mary C. Miller in Atoka, OK alongside her siblings; Mable and Raymond McJunkins, whom have all preceded her in death.
After moving to Laramie in 1940 Helen worked hard, married Harvey Ross who also preceded her in death in 1980, and was active in many civic clubs. She was a founding member as well as treasurer, vice president, and then president of the Modern Matrons Women’s Club. She was a member of the Cheyenne Elks Club, The Moose Lodge, and the Eagles Lodge here in Laramie. Helen was also instrumental in the founding of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church. When she was not busy with her civic duties, she could be found cooking, gardening, playing cards, BINGO, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
In addition to her parents, siblings, and husband, Helen was preceded in death by two infant sons; an infant granddaughter; son - in - law Columbus Parham; and two grandsons, Barton Parham and Lance Parham.
Helen leaves behind three nieces, Mary Helen Goodwick; Florence Jeffries; and Ruthie Jeffries, all of Cleveland, OH; seven nieces and nephews; many great and great - great nieces and nephews; daughter - in - law Melba J. Parham of Laramie; grandchildren, Scott Parham and wife Debbie; Roshone Parham and wife Darla; Vashti Jackson and husband Donald all of Lancaster, CA; Vianetta Jeffries and Michael Dunn of Winters, CA; Craig Parham and wife Renetta, Grant Parham and wife Vickie of Spring, TX; Adalia Parham of Silver Springs, MA; nine great - grandchildren; three great - great - grandchildren; and her special friend and companion Robert Nicholson. Helen will be dearly missed by all who were privileged to have known her.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date this summer in conjunction with one for her grandson, Lance Parham, who passed away April of this year.
