Margaret E. McKinney, 77, of Sheridan, WY, died Monday, May 5, 2003 in Westview Health Care Center.
Mrs. McKinney was born November 28, 1925 in Ainsworth, NB to Emil and Marjorie I. (Baker) Kurpjuweit. She grew up attended schools in Ainsworth, graduating from Ainsworth High School in 1945. Mrs. McKinney then attended the Bishop-Clarkson School of Nursing in Omaha, NB, graduating in 1947, coming to Sheridan as a Cadet Nurse at the V. A. Medical Center in early 1947.
Mrs. McKinney married Murray McKinney in Sheridan, WY in 1947. She was a nurse at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County for 37 years, retiring in 1990.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Sheridan, and District 3, Wyoming Nurses Association. She enjoyed flower gardening, horseback riding, her pets, and spending time with her family.
Mrs. McKinney was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and 1 grandson.
She is survived by 2 sons, Dan McKinney of Castro Valley, CA, and Michael McKinney of El Cajon, CA; 2 daughters, Charlotte McKinney of Sheridan, WY, and Jeanne Bulkley of Arvada, WY; 1 sister, Helen Sherman of Johnstown, NE; 6 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild.
Private family graveside services for Mrs. McKinney will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, May 8, 2003 at Little Big Horn Cemetery, Crow Agency, MT with the Rev. William Heine officiating. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

Deborah Denise (Henry) Nelson, 49, formerly of Sheridan, passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2003, of natural causes at her home in St. Louis, Missouri.
Denise was born on June 3, 1953, in Casper, to Raymond Henry and Marcelee H. Nelson. She graduated from Sheridan High School in 1971, as a member of the National Honors Society and went on to attend Sheridan College on a scholarship and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa.
Ms. Nelson married Richard Lentz on August 5, 1972 and their union was blessed with one daughter. The two later divorced in 1976.
In May of 1993 Denise received a master's degree as well as a bachelor's degree, both Magna Cum Lade, in Computer Science from Maryville College. She was also inducted into Delta Epsilon Sigma, a national scholastic honor society.
Ms. Nelson had a successful career that including a position with NERCO Corporation that took her family to Alaska and then to St. Louis, as well as working for Citicorp, Ralston Purina, Monsanto Corporation and finally Anheuser Busch Corp.
Denise was an avid reader of books, loved to travel, enjoyed working with computers, and loved spending time with her family, friends and organizations she was involved with.
Her father, Raymond Henry and her grandparents Ethel and Andrew Nelson preceded Ms. Nelson in death. Survivors include her mother Marcelee Nelson; her brother Michael Henry of Cheyenne, Wyoming; her daughter Renee Dawn Euler, wife of Mike Euler, of Denver, Colorado; and her granddaughter Elise Ashton Euler.
Memorial services will be held at 11:30a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2003 at Saint Peter's Episcopal Church with Rev. David Duprey officiating. Kane funeral home is in charge of arrangements

Lee Dell Robinson, 48, of Sheridan, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2003, in Sheridan.
Lee was born on January 25, 1955, in Gypsum, Colorado, to Louis D. and Fay A. (Elliott) Robinson. He married Heidi Peterson in Las Vegas, Nevada on June 12, 2002. Lee enjoyed shooting and riding his Harley.
Mr. Robinson was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Heidi; his sister, Sarah Gomez; and his nephew Tim Sears all of Sheridan.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at Kane Funeral Home with Reverend Doug Goodwin officiating. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Dr. Arthur Ely Stolcis, D. D. S., 87, of Sheridan, WY, died May 17, 2003 at the V A Medical Center in Sheridan.
Dr. Stolcis was born July 19, 1915 in Cambria, WY, to Marco and Candida (Fattor) Stolcis. He attended Elementary school in Cambria and graduated in 1932 from Sheridan High School. He was a member of the National Honor Society, Quill & Scroll, Prom Committee, and the Library Club. After attending the University of Wyoming for 3 years, Dr. Stolcis went on to Creighton University in Omaha, NE, where he received his doctorate in dental surgery. At Creighton, he was a member of Delta Sigma Delta, Alpha Sigma Nu, Xavier Forum, and President of his senior class of 1937. Dr. Stolcis practiced dentistry in Hemmingford, NE, for 2 years at which time he enlisted in the U. S. Army on Dec. 26, 1941 at March Field, CA.
He departed July 1, 1942 for the European Theater where he served as a Battalion Dental Surgeon attached to the 812 Aviation Engineer Battalion. He served in Northern Africa, Sicily and Southern Italy. He was awarded the European, African, and the Middle Eastern Service Medal. He was discharged at Fort Logan, CO on Jan. 30, 1946, holding the rank of Major.
Dr. Stolcis returned to Sheridan in 1946 where he ranched on the family ranch until the time of his death. He was always noted for his love of animals.
Dr. Stolcis was preceded in death by his parents; and his twin brothers, Fiore and Robert Stolcis.
He is survived by his nephews, Father Ronald A. Stolcis of Sheridan, WY; and Dr. Robert J. Stolcis, D. D. S., of Denver, CO; and sister-in-law, Teddy Stolcis of Sheridan, WY.
Rosary for Dr. Stolcis will be recited at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 20, 2003 at Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Name Catholic Church at 10:00 A. M., Wednesday, May 21, 2003 with Father Ronald Stolcis as Celebrant. Burial will be in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

Emily J. Vincent, 79, of Dayton, WY, died Friday, May 23, 2003 in Deaconess Medical Center, Billings, MT.
Mrs. Vincent was born January 10, 1924 in Newark, NJ to Carlton S. and Esther (Mason) Barss, Sr. She grew up and attended schools in Montclair, and graduated from Columbia High School in Montclair. On April 2, 1942, she married James Vincent in Montclair, NJ. They spent the next 24 years in Penn.; then moved to WY, living in Lander, and then Pavilion. Upon Mr. Vincent's death in 1994, Mrs. Vincent moved to Dayton where she resided until her death.
Mrs. Vincent was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one brother.
She is survived by 3 sons, Timothy Vincent of Gillette, WY; Michael Vincent of Red Lyon, Penn; and Christopher Vincent of Fork, Maryland; 1 daughter, Shirley Carnahan of Green Springs, W.Va.; 1 sister, Virginia Birckhead of Manaxquan, NJ; and 4 grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place and there will be a private family memorial service at a later date. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
Henry E. Vine age 86 of Sheridan, WY

He grew up in Monarch, WY and Sheridan where he graduated from Sheridan High School. Henry married Edythe Kawamoto on December 16, 1941, in Ft. Collins, CO. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. After the service, he worked for the Sheridan Wyoming Coal Co. in the Monarch mine until it was finally closed. He then worked as a diesel mechanic for the Burlington Northern Railroad until he retired in 1980. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Henry enjoyed fishing with his brother "Moose" as well as hunting and gardening.
Preceded by his parents, five brothers and two sisters.

Albert Wagner, 85, of Sheridan, WY, died Wednesday, May 28, 2003 in the Sheridan V. A. Medical Center.
Mr. Wagner was born March 15, 1918 in Park City, MT to Henry and Christina Charlotte (Becker) Wagner. He was baptised on April 28, 1918, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sheridan and confirmed on April 18, 1935. He grew up and attended schools in the Sheridan area, graduating from Clearmont High School on May 15, 1936.
After graduating, Mr. Wagner enlisted in the U. S. Army where he received special training in order to serve as a member of the OSS (Office of Strategic Services) which later was changed to the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency.) He served in the Pacific Theater during World War II, and much of his time was spent behind enemy lines.
Following the war, Mr. Wagner returned to Sheridan and attended Sheridan College, and received certification to be a surveyor. He then worked for the Wyoming Highway Department retiring after 32 years.
Mr. Wagner was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 11 brothers and sisters.
Mr. Wagner is survived by 2 sons, Wayne Wagner of Gainesville, FL; and Timothy Wagner of Buffalo, WY; 1 daughter, Carla Strain of Aurora, CO; 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services for Mr. Wagner will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, June 2, 2003 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Kirk Peters officiating. Burial will be in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery with military rites by the Wyo. National Guard and American Legion Post #7. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

Shirley Pauline Wertman, 63, of Sheridan, passed away at her home on Friday, May 2, 2003.
Shirley was born on April 7, 1940, in Monarch, Wyoming, to Paul and Olga (Takach) Sturtz. She attended grade school in Acme, and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1958. On June 25, 1965, she married Verne Wertman in Sheridan. Their union was blessed with two children. Shirley enjoyed sewing, baking, camping, and she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
After her children were grown she earned a Bachelors Degree from the University of Wyoming. Mrs. Wertman earned her private pilots license in 1973. She did substitute teaching then worked as an employment specialist for Wyoming Job Service until her retirement in 2001. Shirley enjoyed sewing, baking, camping, hiking, traveling and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband; her daughters Elsa Bush of Gillette, WY and Roberta "Bobbie" Wertman of Las Vegas, NV; her stepson Keith Barrow of Aurora, OR; her three grandsons Thomas Bush of Gillette, WY, and Grant and Colin Barrow of Aurora, OR; her three sisters, Lucy Kobielusz, Bernice Kobielusz, and Elsa Ruby all of
Sheridan; and her brother John Sturtz of Sheridan; and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Wertman was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters Julia and Olga; and two brothers Paul and Robert.
Cremation has taken place in Sheridan and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 17 at 11:00 a.m. at The First Christian Church with Pastor Douglas Goodwin officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials be made in Shirley's name to first Christian Church and/or Wheden Cancer Foundation in care of Kay Roush, First Federal Bank, P.O. Box 6007, Sheridan, WY 82801.
