Elizabeth F. Robinson, 104, of Sheridan, WY, died Thursday, October 31, 2002, at Sheridan Manor.
Mrs. Robinson was born in Clarinda, Iowa on July 25, 1898 to Turner Fredrick (T. F.) and Martha Ophelia (Thompson) FitzGerald. At the age of 8, Elizabeth moved with her family from Iowa to Kansas with her parents, 2 brothers and a sister. They lived near Columbus, on an 80 acre farm and the children attended a country school one mile from home. After three years, the family moved back to Iowa, where Elizabeth attended a school a few miles from Clarinda.
In 1912, her family moved to an irrigated place on the Billings Bench, northeast of Billings, and Elizabeth finished grade school, and attended one year of High School in Billings before her father and older brother took up homesteads ten miles East of Arvada, WY.
When moving from one state to another, the livestock, farm implements and household furnishings were loaded into a railroad box car, called an "Immigrant car." A member of the family rode on the freight train and fed and cared for the stock in this car. The rest of the family traveled on a passenger train to their destination.
Elizabeth finished High School in Sheridan, after teaching a year at the school near her home. She also attended the University of Wyoming and Sheridan College.
On September 3, 1926, she married George Chester Robinson and they lived on his homestead while she was teaching a school on Middle Prong of Wild Horse Creek. They moved to Sheridan, WY in 1930 where they continued to live.
Elizabeth enjoyed working at home and raising her family. She was active in the First United Methodist Church and helped teach children in the Beginner's Department for twenty years. She was a member of the Alpha Kappa Sunday School class and attended their monthly meetings and helped with the yearly Banquets.
In 1960 she spent a year and summer schools at Sheridan College in preparation to teach 2 years at Squirrel Creek in Montana. In later years she still attended the Alpha Kappa Sunday School class and was active in the Women's Society of the Church and helped when needed. She was a frequent visitor at Sheridan Manor as many of her friends were there. She was a busy letter writer, keeping in touch with her children, grandchildren, and her nieces and nephews. Mrs. Robinson was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and all her brothers and sisters. She is survived by 2 sons, George C. Robinson, Jr, of Sheridan, WY; Oren Menagh Robinson, of Phoenix, AR; one daughter, Shirley Ellgaard of San Francisco, CA; nine grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.
Services for Mrs. Robinson will be 11:00 P.M. Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002 at the 1st United Methodist Church with the Rev. Douglas Goodwin officiating. Burial will be in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

Helen Slater, 87, of Sheridan, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2002, at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.
Helen was born on January 7, 1915, in Sheridan, Wyoming, to Mike and Hedwik (Rucki) Krezelok. Following graduation from high school, she worked for the school system as a school cook, and married Gerald W. Slater on October 17, 1936, in Sheridan, Wyoming. The couple's union was blessed with two children. Helen continued to work as a school cook for many years while raising her children. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, quilting, cooking (especially baking), flowers, spending time with her family, and socializing with friends and family. She loved to dance in her younger years, and was a member of the DOEs, the Rebekahs, the Royal Neighbors, the Cherri Chix Homemakers Club, and was a past 4-H Club Leader, as well as a member of the First Congregational Church in Sheridan.
Mrs. Slater was preceded in death by her parents; her grandson, Byron Schilling; her nephew, Jerry Krezelok; her niece, Jeannine Septer; one of her brothers, Mike (Bill) Krezelok; two of her sisters, Hedwik Miech and Ann Fairbank; and her grandparents. Survivors include her husband Gerald of Sheridan, Wyoming; her two daughters, Shirley Schilling and her husband Dick of Casper, Wyoming, and Judy Engle of Wheatridge, Colorado; her two grandchildren, Kristie Olsen and her husband Steve, and Kimberly Sullivan and her husband Shane; her two great-grandchildren, Charissa Olsen and Courtney Olsen; her two sisters, Margaret Ellenwood of Banner, Wyoming, and Mary Miech of Sheridan, Wyoming; and her two brothers, Frank Krezelok of Banner, Wyoming, and Joseph Krezelok of Greybull, Wyoming.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2002, at Kane Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 1, 2002, at Kane Funeral Home with the Reverends Bob Miller and Ray Clark co-officiating. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Alice Stapleton, 97, of Sheridan, WY, died Tuesday, December 17, 2002 in Sheridan Manor.
Mrs. Stapleton was born April 1, 1905 in Harrison, Nebraska to Henry and Mary Amy (Grewell) Rose. In 1910, the family moved to the Arvada area where they resided on a ranch 16 miles South of Arvada. Mrs. Stapleton attended rural schools in the Arvada area and married Roy Beach in Sheridan in 1925. Mr. Beach preceded her in death. Mrs. Stapleton married William Stapleton July 14, 1988, in Sheridan, WY, where she has resided since. She loved being with her family.
Mrs. Stapleton was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands, 1 son, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters.
She is survived by one grandson, Tony Beach, of Sheridan, WY, and 2 granddaughters.
At her request, cremation has taken place and no services are planned. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

Jeneva Ellen Steel, 89, of Sheridan, WY, died Wednesday, November 27, 2002, at her residence.
Mrs. Steel was born April 28, 1913, in Aline, Oklahoma, to Jack and Edna (Rogers) Walters. She was raised in Elsie, Nebraska and graduated from Elsie High School.
Mrs. Steel married Kenneth William Ryker in Ogallala, Nebraska on October 19, 1934. They resided in Los Angeles, California from 1941 to 1956 where they raised two daughters, Carmen and Sharon.
They moved to Story, WY in 1956 and resided there until Mr. Ryker's death in 1972. Mrs. Steel continued to live in Story, and married William Steel of Story, WY in September of 1975.
She was a homemaker and an active member of the Story Women's Club, and the Story Community Church.
Mrs. Steel was a sixth-generation grand-daughter of Daniel and Rebecca Boone.
Mrs. Steel was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
She is survived by two daughters, Carmen George of Sun Lakes, Arizona, and Sharon Schnackenberg of Des Moines, Iowa; 4 grandchildren, Kevin Starkey, of Denver, Colorado, Felicia LaToush, of Sheridan, WY, Scott Schnackenberg of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Suzanne (Schnackenberg) Stell of Des Moines, Iowa; 5 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

Les "Red" Stevens, 80, of Sheridan, WY, died Thursday, November 21, 2002 in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.
Mr. Stevens was born October 31, 1922 in Wilsonville, Nebraska, to Thomas Preston and Ona Elta (Temple) Stevens. He grew up and attended schools in Cambridge, Nebraska, graduating from high school there in 1938.
Mr. Stevens in-listed in the U. S. Navy in 1942, and went to underwater welder's school in San Diego, CA. The next 29 months were spent helping to repair submarines coming into the base for damage and refit. He was discharged in 1945 as a Ship-fitter 1st class. After his discharge, he returned to Cheyenne, WY where he was a city bus driver from 1945 to 1951. During this period, Mr. Stevens met Peggy Wees, and they were married in Kimble, Nebraska March 3rd, 1950.
In 1952 and 53 he was the owner and operator of the Town Pump in Cheyenne. Also in 1953 and then in 1954, he was a life insurance agent in Cheyenne.
Mr. and Mrs. Stevens transferred to Thermopolis where he left the insurance business to become the Chef for the Manhattan Café. From 1955 through 1967, Mr. Stevens was the WY state sales representative for the Segram's Distillery Company living in Cheyenne. From 1969 through 1974, he was a Montgomery Wards Sporting Goods salesman. In 1975, he became an IDS Life Insurance agent, and in 1978, he became an agent for Metropolitan Life Insurance. In 1981, Mr. and Mrs. Stevens moved to Sheridan, WY, where Mr. Stevens opened his own Farmers Insurance office, retiring in 1992.
Mr. Stevens was a past member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing and boating, and loved woodworking, and doing anything that he could do with his hands. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
Mr. Stevens was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy, of Sheridan; three sons, Larry O. , of Gillette, WY; Lanny M., of Laramie, WY; and Ralph P. "Buddy" Stevens, of Kansas City, Missouri; numerous grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.
Cremation has taken place and memorial services for Mr. Stevens will be held at a later date. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

Guy F. Stevenson, 26, of Dayton, walked with Jesus to Heaven surrounded by his cherished family and friends on Thursday, October 31, 2002, at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.
Guy was born on June 5, 1976, to David and Nancy (Fountaine) Stevenson in Farmington, Maine. Following his graduation from high school, he worked as a musician, and moved to Dayton three years ago from Rangeley, Maine. On July 13, 2002, he married Kiki Bolinger. He was a member of the Big Horn Mountain Lodge #43. He enjoyed music, fishing, restoring cars, skiing, snowmobiling, camping, spending time with his family and children, and playing with his two Boxers, Maggie and Lucy. He touched so many hearts and lives. We are all blessed with his memory.
Guy was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Elizabeth Stevenson and Frances Bradbury; and his grandparents Henry and Antoinette Fountaine. He is survived by his wife Kiki of Dayton; his step-children Austin, Ashley, and Alesha of Dayton; his mother Nancy Minard and her husband Rick of Jackman, Maine; his father David Stevenson and his wife Jean of Sheridan, Wyoming; his step-father Rex Bradbury of Raymond, Maine; his grandfathers Charles B. Bradbury and C. F. Stevenson; his brother Charles Bradbury and his wife Judy; his sisters Charlotte Kelly and her husband Pat, Kathryn Gallant and her husband Shane, Dana Badure and her husband Greg, and Anne Thibault and her husband Dennis; his adopted brother and best friend John Day; and numerous nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Cremation has taken place, and memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2002, at Bethesda Worship Center. Private family interment will be held in the Sheridan Masonic 43 Cemetery. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Keith Eugene Stevenson, 59, of Sheridan, WY, died Sunday, October 13, 2002 in Billings Deaconess Medical Center.
Mr. Stevenson was born October 27, 1942 in Abingdon, IL to Charles and Violet (Roach) Stevenson.
He grew up and attended schools in Sheridan, and graduated from high school in Moline, IL in 1962. He returned to Sheridan and married Pam Coughran August 16, 1964 in Sheridan. In October of 1964, Mr. Stevenson went to work for the Phone Company in Sheridan. He was an engineer for the Phone Company, and retired in February of 1990 after 25 years of service. Mr. Stevenson was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church and the Telephone Pioneers. He loved to hunt and fish and spending time with his family and friends. He also loved to four-wheel.
Mr. Stevenson was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Pam, of Sheridan; two daughters, Michelle Stevenson and Stacy Thompson, both of Sheridan; & three brothers, Charles Stevenson, Jr., of Upton, WY; Roland Stevenson, of Lovington, N.M.; & Kenneth Stevenson, of Sheridan, WY.
Memorial services for Mr. Stevenson will be held 11:00 AM Friday, October 18, 2002 at Champion Ferries Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Goodwin officiating.

Harold E. Stimpson, 76, of Parkman passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2002, at the Sheridan V.A. Medical Center.
Harold was born on October 2, 1926, to Harry and Hazel (Hogoboon) Stimpson in Hardin, Montana. He was raised on a ranch near Lodge Grass, Montana, and following his school years, he entered the U.S. Navy, serving his country during World War II. Following his discharge from the Navy, on September 23, 1952, he married Norma Shick in Hardin. The couple's union was blessed with eight children, and they ranched for many years. They moved to Parkman in 1994, following their retirement. Harold enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and boating, and was very proud of being a boat winner at the Lion's Club Fishing Derby on Lake DeSmet. He loved spending time with his family.
Mr. Stimpson was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Howard Stimpson, Sr., and one sister Helen Stimpson. He is survived by his wife Norma of Parkman; his four daughters, Enid Dabney and her husband Bill of Deer Lodge, Montana, Gail Monk and her husband Nick of Roosevelt, Utah, and Sherry Kobielusz and her husband Robert of Sheridan, and Holly Watson and her husband Roger of Hardin, Montana; his four sons, Byron Stimpson and his wife Jean, Dale Stimpson and his wife Tana, Kenneth Stimpson, and Evan Stimpson and his wife Mae, all of Lodge Grass, Montana; his twenty-two grandchildren; his great-grandchild; and his sister Myrtle Faught of Hardin, Montana.
In accordance with Harold's wishes, cremation has taken place locally with Kane Crematory, and no funeral services will be held. A reception for friends and family will be held at "The Fountain" in Hardin, Montana at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27, 2002. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
