Garrett Adam - 08/14/01
Funeral services for Garrett Charles Adam, 2, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at New Life Wesleyan Church with Pastor Dan Morgan officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wilson Funeral Home.
He died Friday, Aug. 10, 2001, at Children's Hospital in Denver. He was diagnosed with hydrocephalus before he was born and had numerous surgeries.
He was born Jan. 20, 1999, in Denver, Colo., to Charles Eric and Wendelyn J. (Schmauch) Adam. He was a happy boy with a sweet personality. He touched many people's lives and enjoyed music and baths.
He is survived by his parents, Chuck and Wendy Adam; a sister, Jordan Elizabeth Adam of Gillette; grandparents, Conrad and Linda Adam, and Jim Schmauch Jr., all of Kalispell, Mont., Lynette Taylor, Boise, Idaho; great-grandparents, Mildred Adam of Malta, Mont., Blanche Walker of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Jeanne Schmauch of Kalispell, Mont.; and two great aunts.
He was preceded in death by great-grandfathers, Charles Adam and Jim Schmauch.
A memorial has been established to benefit the Hydrocephalus Association. Donations may be sent in care of Wilson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 734, Gillette, WY 82717.
Kenneth Naramore - 12/20/01
Kenneth Naramore, 81, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2001, at Campbell County Memorial Hospital of natural causes.
Arrangements are pending with Wilson Funeral Home.
Mary E. Bortz - 11/15/02
Mary E. Bortz, 91, of Tucson, Ariz., died Sunday, Nov. 10, 2002.
Memorial services will be at a later date.
Burial will be at Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Gillette.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Casper.
Mrs. Bortz is survived by two daughters, Barbara Runner of Pearce, Ariz., and Brenda Doyle of Casper; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Bortz.
Sue Mamula - 07/23/03
Mass of Christian burial for Sue Mamula, 44, a former Gillette resident, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Rapid City, S.D., with the Rev. Michael Mulloy officiating.
Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetary in Rapid City.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at Kirk Funeral Home. Christian wake services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Church.
Mrs. Mamula died Tuesday, July 22, 2003 at her home in Box Elder, S.D., of lung cancer.
She was born on July 16, 1959, to Gerald W. "Bill" and Barbara (Ryan) Geis in Gillette. She graduated from Campbell County High School in 1977 and graduated from Mount Marty College in Yankton, S.D., in 1982 with a bachelor of arts degree in social work. She was working on earning her master's degree in school and agency counseling when she became ill.
She married Larry Mamula on May 30, 1981, in Gillette. They had a son, Mike, in 1987 and a daughter, Rian, in 1991.
Mrs. Mamula devoted her life to helping children and the developmentally disabled. Following her graduation from college, she worked at the adolescent unit at the Human Services Center in Yankton. She spent about 10 years at Red Horse Lodge, a group home for adolescents on the Crow Creek Reservation, in a variety of capacities, including lodge social worker, program coordinator and director.
For two years, she was a guardian representative for the South Dakota Guardianship Program serving as guardian/conservator for developmentally disabled adults in various training centers in western South Dakota. From January 2000 until the time of her death, she worked in the library at Douglas High School in Box Elder. She was a member of both Blessed Sacrament and St. Therese Catholic Churches.
Mrs. Mamula enjoyed spending time with her friends and family and attending her children's athletic events and music and drama productions. She was Bandit Ball Little League Team Parent of Year in 2000.
She will be remembered for her kindness, dedication, and unwavering courage in the face of her illness.
She is survived by her husband, Larry, son Mike, and daughter Rian, all of Box Elder; four brothers, Mickey Geis, Gerry Geis and Kevin Geis, all of Gillette, Eric Geis of Wright; two sisters, Laura Ostrem of Gillette, and Carol Blackburn of Douglas; her stepmother Carol Geis of Gillette; and two step-isters, Michelle Wallace of Black Forest, Colo., and Jennifer Erisman of Gillette.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
Kirk Funeral Home in Rapid City is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the John T. Vucurevich Cancer Care Institute, Hospice of the Hills, Bandit Ball Little League, Black Hills Pony League, Post 320 American Legion Baseball, or the Douglas School District Music and Drama Departments.
Zeta (Riddle) Dunlap - 07/05/01
Funeral services for longtime Campbell County resident Zeta (Riddle) Dunlap will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Wilson Funeral Home with the Rev. Joel Wright of First Presbyterian Church officiating.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday.
Mrs. Dunlap died Saturday, June 30, 2001, at the Life Care Center in Casper of natural causes. She was 96.
She was born March 7, 1905, in Comstock, Neb., to James P. and Addie Riddle. The family moved to Gillette in 1916 where they homesteaded south of town.
She married Earl Dunlap on June 7, 1921, in Gillette. The couple lived on Mr. Dunlap's homestead south of Gillette for six months before moving to Lincoln, Neb., where he attended law school. Mrs. Dunlap managed the couple's apartment building upon moving back to Gillette a year later. Her husband was a lawyer in Gillette for 50 years.
The couple moved to Story in 1969 but lived in Mesa, Ariz., every winter. She had lived at Park Place in Casper for the past six years.
Mrs. Dunlap was a member of the Presbyterian Church and belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary for 73 years. She was also a member of the Eastern Star for 42 years, the Rebekahs and Royal Neighbors. She enjoyed playing bridge, oil and china painting and several other crafts.
She is survived by her daughter, Betty Ruth Hewit of Englewood, Colo.; her sons, Larry Earl Dunlap and Charles Mason Dunlap, both of Casper; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Dunlap, her parents, two sisters, four brothers and two grandsons.
