Anna P. Cross age 100 of Sheridan, WY
Died Tuesday, December 3, 2002, in Sheridan Manor
Born October 11, 1902, at Eustis, Nebraska
Parents - Christ & Caroline ( Smith) Gaibler

She graduated from Eustis High School in 1922. Anna married Leslie M. Cross on March 20, 1923, in Moorefield, NE. They came to Sheridan in 1938. She volunteered for many causes. Anna was a member of First Presbyterian Church, church circle #4, Easter Star Naomi Chapter #2 and the Women's Club. She enjoyed her home, working in the yard and garden.

Preceded in death by her husband in 1990, four sister and four brothers.

Graveside service will be 10:00am on Tuesday (Dec. 10th) in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery with the Rev. Doug Melius officiating.
Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

Judith Ann Dahlin, 59, of Sheridan, WY, died Wednesday, October 16, 2002 at her Sheridan residence.

Mrs. Dahlin was born July 13, 1943 in Pacific, Missouri to Pete and May Albertson. She grew up and attended schools in Pacific. She married John Dahlin December 31, 1962 in Pacific. After Mr. Dahlin's discharge from the Army, they moved to Sheridan where she has resided until her death.

Mrs. Dahlin was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by 1 son, Mike Dahlin of Salt Lake City, Utah; 3 daughters, Deanna Martinez of Sheridan; Jeri Barnett of Tucson, AZ; and Melissa Leibhart of St. Charles, Missouri; and 3 sisters, Norma Fryer, Doris Brown, and Shirley VanVorst, all of Missouri; 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Memorial services for Mrs. Dahlin will be held Saturday, 2:00 PM, October 19, 2002 at the Sunrise Assembly of God Church with Reverend John Jackson officiating. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

Richard C. Daniels, 64, of Sheridan, passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2002.

Richard was born in Sheridan, Wyoming, on October 29, 1938, to Russell "Rex" and Barbara (Carter) Daniels. He grew up in Sheridan and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1957 with his twin brother Raymond. Richard also served in the U.S. Navy.

Mr. Daniels was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. He is survived by his twin brother, Raymond and his wife Anne of Dublin, California, and his sister, Janis Loyd of Otter, Montana.

Pursuant to Richard's request, cremation has taken place locally with Kane Crematory and no memorial services will be held. Inurnment of cremains will take place in the Dayton Cemetery.

Sarah R. Dobbs, 34, of Sheridan, passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2002, at her residence.

Sarah was born on March 15, 1968, in Bismarck, North Dakota, to Lynn and Irene Moore. She was raised in Billings, Montana, attending Meadowlark, Will James, and Billings West High School. She had a very bright mind and had graduated Valedictorian of her nursing class in 2001 at Sheridan College. She was employed at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County at the time of her death.

Sarah was an avid reader and wrote poems. Her favorite place was the family cabin at Georgetown Lake where she would always be the last person sitting by the fire, philosophizing on life. She had a soft heart and was always there for friends in need of help. She had a soul that knew nothing but love for everyone. Sarah enjoyed the outdoors, finding peace in the wilderness of Jericho Bay in Anaconda. She loved boating and being close to the water.

Mrs. Dobbs is survived by her husband Robert of Sheridan; her two sons Wyat Dobbs and Christian Kilpatrick of Sheridan; her three daughters, Brittany and Bailey Dobbs of Sheridan, and Monica Mower of Scottsdale, Arizona; her parents, Lynn and Irene Moore of Billings, Montana; her siblings, Katie Helvaci and her husband Mehmet William Moore and his wife Jenifer of Billings, Montana, and Molly Coombs and her husband Steve of Grand Prairie, Texas; her two nephews, Bulent Helvaci of Billings, Montana, and Isaac Coombs of Grand Prairie, Texas; her niece Gabrielle Coombs of Grand Prairie, Texas; and her many friends.

At Sarah's wishes, cremation has taken place locally with Kane Crematory, and memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2002, at Kane Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Gifford officiating. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

The family has requested that memorials be made to the Wyat Dobbs Trust Fund in care of Sarah Schneider, Citco Federal Credit Union, 29 North Conner, Sheridan, WY 82801.

Edward E. Dorsey, 73, of Wright, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2002, at the Sheridan V.A. Medical Center.

Edward was born on September 7, 1929, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Robert and Meda (Condra) Dorsey. Following his graduation from high school, he entered the U.S. Army, and served his country until 1948, when he was honorably discharged. He again entered the Army in 1950 and served until 1952, when he honorably discharged for the second time. He was a Golden Glove Trainer in Worland, and he worked for many years, but most recently as a radio broadcaster with KIML in Gillette, Wyoming.

He is survived by his four children, Michelle Lapine, Tammy Robinson, Vance Dorsey, and Travis Dorsey, and his very special friend Georgia Opendack.

At Edward's request, cremation has taken place locally with Kane Crematory, and inurnment of cremains will be in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota, at a later date. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

The family has requested that memorials be made to the Edward Dorsey Memorial Fund in care of First Interstate Bank, P.O. Box 3004, Gillette, WY 82717.

Dorothy Dow, 79, of Sheridan, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2002, at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.

Dorothy was born on November 21, 1923, in Sheridan, Wyoming, to George and Mary (Kraft) Smith. Following her graduation from Sheridan High School, she attended nurse's training at the Denver School of Nursing in Denver, Colorado. Dorothy married Jack Dow on October 8, 1946, in Hardin, Montana. She worked as a pediatric nurse for several years, and also worked very hard as Jack's wife on the ranch.

Dorothy enjoyed bowling, quilting, crocheting, sewing, painting, leather tooling, going to lunch with her sister Josephine, and gardening. She was a wonderful cook and a very hospitable person. She liked most outdoor activities, including hunting and fishing. Dorothy loved animals and children, and she poured her life into the ranch. She was a very devoted mother and grandmother who was a big source of jokes and enjoyed playing practical jokes on those around her.

Mrs. Dow was preceded in death by her husband Jack in September, 2001; her son Jack; her granddaughter Laura Dow; and her parents. She is survived by her son Bert Dow and his wife Susan of Big Horn; her two grandsons, Brandon and Kevin Dow of Sheridan; and her sister Josephine Hobbs and her husband Ray of Story.

Cremation has taken place locally with Kane Crematory, and memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 27, 2002, at Kane Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Gifford officiating. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

The family has requested that memorials be made to the Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County Pediatric Ward in care of Delphine Toner, First Interstate Bank, P.O. Box 2007, Sheridan, WY 82801.

Lester Charles Doyen, 97 of Sheridan, WY, died Saturday, October 19, 2002, in Sheridan Manor.

Mr. Doyen was born July 2, 1905 in Richwoods, Missouri to William T. and Maggie J. (Rutledge) Doyen. When he was 12 years old, he moved with his family to the Buffalo area where he and his father built fences on various ranches. He then moved to Midwest where he started his painting career. After several years, he moved back to Sheridan and bought a ranch S. of Sheridan. Mr. Doyen moved to Sheridan in 1948, where he was a painter until his retirement in 1970.

Mr. Doyen was a past member of the Eagles club and the Knight's of Columbus, and is a member of Holy Name Catholic Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and raised a large garden.

Mr. Doyen was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, 1 brother, and 2 sisters.

He is survived by 1 step-daughter, Teresa Stephenson, of Sheridan; K. C. Shearwood, of Clinton, Utah; and several other nieces and nephews.

Funeral Liturgy for Mr. Doyen will be 10:00 AM Thursday, October 24, 2002 at Holy Name Catholic Church with Father Ron Stolcis as Celebrant. Burial will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.

Visitation for Mr. Doyen will be 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Tuesday, October 22nd, and 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Wednesday, October 23rd, at Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

Memorials in memory of Mr. Doyen may be made to Holy Name School Foundation, or the charity of the donor's choice, in care of Delphine Toner, 1st Interstate Bank, Box 2007, Sheridan, WY 82801.

Katherine B. Edwards age 91 of Sheridan, WY
Died Friday, December 6, 2002, at her Sheridan home

She grew up on the ranch near Centennial, WY, which was homesteaded by her grandparents in 1882. In high school, she was active in 4-H and receive two Honor Scholarships. Although she studied pre-med at the University of Wyoming she changed her focus and was graduated with a degree in Home Economics. She taught school in Lingle and Newcastle before becoming an Extension Agent for the University in Big Horn County and then in Sheridan County where she helped improve the lives of homemakers and 4-Hers. 4-H presented her with an award for Meritorious Service. Katherine retired from the workforce and married Everett Edwards on June 16, 1946. She was an active volunteer with the Cub Scouts, Brownies, raising money for charity, county fairs and many other activities as well as serving on the Boards of the American Association of University Women and the Northern Wyoming Community College. She was a member of the Sheridan Book Club, P.E.O. and an integral part of activities of First Congregational Church. Katherine enjoyed cooking, sewing and crocheting.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1976, brother Joel and sister Susan Baily Morgan of Laramie, WY.

Viewing will be on Monday (Dec. 9th) until 7pm from Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10:00am on Tuesday from First Congregational Church with Pastor Robert Miller officiating. Interment will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery, Masonic Section. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

Memorials may benefit the First Congregational Church.

Lorna Jean Ekis, 78, of Sheridan passed away on Friday, October 25, 2002, at the Deaconess Billings Clinic in Billings, Montana.
Lorna was born on January 20, 1924, in Sheridan, Wyoming, to Lawrence and Maude (Warrner) Cooke. Following her graduation from high school, on November 7, 1948, she married Bernard G. Ekis in Sheridan. She worked for many years at Montgomery Ward in Sheridan. Lorna was a member of the McCormick Homemakers Club and St. Peter's Episcopal Church. During her younger years, she loved horseback riding. She was an accomplished musician and enjoyed playing for dances. Most of all, she loved her family and loving doing things with them at her mountain mobile home.
Mrs. Ekis was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Norma L. Oswley, her brother Merton Cooke, and her granddaughter Krista Ekis. Survivors include her husband Bernard Ekis of Sheridan; her son Lawrence Ekis of Sheridan; and her grandson Larry Ekis of Sheridan.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2002, at Kane Funeral Home with The Reverend Ray Clark officiating. Private family interment will be in the Masonic Lodge 43 Cemetery. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

The family has requested that memorials be made in Lorna's name to the Shriner's Crippled Childrens Travel Fund or the American Diabetes Association in care of Delphine Toner, First Interstate Bank, P.O. Box 2007, Sheridan, WY 82801.
