Cleopal Callaway Womacks
Cleopal Callaway Womacks, age 88, of Weston, WV, died Sunday, June 26, 2011, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. She was born on June 12, 1923, in Great Bend, Kansas, a daughter of the late Walter B. Callaway and Wanda B. Iliff Callaway Jasper. She was preceded in death on August 12, 1993, by her husband, Glenn A. Womacks. She is survived by three daughters: Glennda Collins, Sandra Moore, and Candyce Davis; one son, David Womacks; 17 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren. Also surviving is a step-brother, E. N. Jasper.
Mrs. Womacks was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
At the request of the deceased, the body was cremated. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 16, 2011, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on Skin Creek Road in Weston, WV. Lynn Alden Reed
Lynn Alden Reed, 73, of Rt. #1 Lost Creek, Good Hope community, passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2011, in the Louis A Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg following a battle with leukemia.
He was born in Bridgeport on August 16, 1937; son of the late Benjamin Totten Reed and Theresa (Stutler) Reed and late step mother, Wanda (Devault) Reed.
On March 15, 1968, he married Jo Ann (Pumphrey) Reed, who survives.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Susan Ann (David) Hardman and Beth Ann (John) Cross both of Weston; and brother,Thomas L. (Patricia) Bragg of Weston. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Heather M. (Eric) Smith, Jennifer L. Hardman, Jacob T. Cross and Paige E. Cross; and two great-grandchildren, Katie and Brady Smith. Also surviving are one brother, Robert Lee (Gayle) Reed of West Springfield, Pa.; one sister, Betty Lou (Dick) Bennett of Fairmont; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Lynn was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Totten Reed, and one sister, Sandra Sue Entwistle.
Mr. Reed was a retired insurance agent with Union Banker's Life for 29 years and later Monumental Life Insurance Company. He served in the United States Air Force from 1956-1960. Lynn was a Christian by faith and attended the Church of Christ of Salem.
Mr. Reed attended Liberty Grade School, Victory High School and graduated from Unidis High School of West Milford. Lynn was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed horseshoe pitching and was a member of the WV Horseshoe Pitching Association.
Family and friends were received at the at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home, Weston, on Sunday, July 31, from 4-8 p.m. Funeral services were held on Monday at 2:00 p.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Albert E. Farley officiating. Interment followed services in the Mount Moore cemetery on the Reed Farm in Harrison County. Full military honors were conducted by the Lewis County Honor Guard.
Christine Riley
Christine Riley, 91 of Philadelphia, Pa., died on July 23, 2011, at 9:36 p.m. at her home.
She was born on March 20, 1920, at Rock Cave, Upshur County, the daughter of the late Fred and Edna McCartney Westfall.
Christine is survived by three children, Ted Riley and wife, Linda of Vernon, Conn., Patty Donaldson of Sherrodsville, Ohio, and Penny Grady and husband, Garry of Vineland, N.J. In addition, Christine is survived by three sisters, Ruth Posten of Ravenna, Ohio, Garnett Eason of Blue Eye, Mo., and Augustine Dobbins of Alvin, Texas; one brother, Dana Westfall of Melbourne, Fla.; 13 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 6 step great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Christine was preceded in death by five brothers, two sisters, one son-in-law and two grandchildren.
Christine attended Weston High School, Weston, West Virginia. She and her previous deceased ex-husband, Lee B. Riley, owned and operated The Corner Restaurant, Lost Creek, and afterwards The Sugar Bowl Restaurant, Jane Lew. She owned and operated a Credit and Collection Business, Philadelphia, Pa., for 25 years. She retired in 1984.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 20, at 2:00 p.m. at Terranova Funeral Home, Haddon Heights, N.J. The Rev. Thomas Venables will be officiating the memorial services.
Memorial burial services will be held in the Westfall Family cemetery, Jane Lew, this fall season at a date to be determined.
James David Stout
James David Stout, 63, of Kincheloe, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at his residence.
He was born in Weston on April 13, 1948; son of the late Henry Calvin Stout and Mary Elizabeth (McClung) Stout.
On October 22, 1971, he married Helen Lucille (Workman) Stout, who survives.
Mr. Stout is also survived by one daughter, Teresa Ricketts and Daniel of Lost Creek; one son, David Lee Stout and Margaret of Lost Creek; five grandchildren, Harlie Renee Stout, Asa James Ricketts, Cheyenna Marie Stout, Araya Lucia Ricketts and Lucas Cole Stout; one great-grandchild, Tristen Xavior Watson; two brothers, Roger Stout and Kay of Weston, and Donald Stout and Brenda of Weston; three sisters, Patty Wine and Richard of Weston, Cindy Stout of Pleasant Lake, Mich., and Judy Daugherty of Weston; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one grandchild, Noah Rain Ricketts
Mr. Stout was a truck driver for the WVDOH, were he had worked 39 years. He was good mechanic and loved working around the house, keeping his 28 acres of land looking like a park. He also loved music and hunting. James loved watching NASCAR his favorite driver was Bill Elliott.
Family and friends were received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home, Weston, on Friday, July 29, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Kenneth Miller officiating. Interment followed services in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens of Weston.
Ben W. Wamsley
Ben W. (Buzz) Wamsley III, 68, of Hickory Lane, Weston, went to be with the Lord at his residence July 27, 2011, following a sudden illness.
He was born January 8, 1943, in Elkins, the son of the late Benjamin W. Wamsley Jr. and Virginia Weese Wamsley, who survives.
On October 22, 1994, he married Rita White of Belington, who also survives.
Surviving are daughters, Sarah Marsh and husband Trenton of Horner, Deborah Wolfe of Salisbury, Pa, and Rebecca Corbin of Kingwood. Also surviving is one son, Bryan W. Wamsley and wife Laura of Narrows, Va. He is also survived by one sister, Ruth Ann Clark and husband Captain Robert Clark of Annapolis, Md., along with four grandchildren and two nephews.
He graduated from Morgantown High School and went on to receive his Bachelors of Science in Agriculture from West Virginia University. Ben began his career as manager of Southern States in Elkins and moved on to be the farm manager for the WV Farm Commission in Huttonsville. Later in his life, Ben received his WV State Appraisers license and Insurance license and with his wife Rita they operated Mid-State Appraisal Service and Betterway Insurance Center in Buckhannon, until 2009 at which time they retired.
He spent the remainder of his time on earth fishing, woodworking, and traveling to his second home in Santee, S.C., where he also loved to golf. He was a father, husband, and grandfather who loved to spend time with his family and his constant companion, his dog, Faith.
Ben was a veteran, having served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.
He was an active member of the Broad Street United Methodist Church where he held several offices within the church. He was a member of the Weston Lodge #10, A.F.& A.M., Beverly Chapter #23 RAM, Pilgrim Commandery #21, Lewis County Shrine Club and the Osiris Shrine Temple of Wheeling.
Friends were received at the Boyle Funeral Home Sunday July 31, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services were conducted on Monday August 1, at 11 a.m. from the funeral home chapel with the Reverend Richard Justice officiating. Interment followed services at the Maplewood cemetery in Elkins, with a Masonic graveside service.
Because of Ben's love for the youth of Broad Street Church, the family is requesting donations be made to the Broad Street United Methodist Youth, P.O. Box 81, Weston, WV 26452.
Ella Virginia Wills
Ella Virginia "Ginger" Wills, age 74, of Weston, died Monday, August 1, 2011, at her home.
She was born November 10, 1936, at Weston, the daughter of the late R. Glenn and Maude S. Hacker Floyd.
She is survived by her husband, Don U. Wills, whom she married on April 6, 1957, in Oberammergau, Germany.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Deborah Lynne Clark, and husband Dan, of Danville, and Mrs. Donna Jean Adams, and husband Gilbert, of Crestwood, Ky.; two grandsons, M. Levi Clark and Kyle R. Clark, both of Morgantown; and one sister, Mrs. Betty Jean Williams and husband, Roy L. of Kearney, Mo.
Mrs. Wills was an owner of the Floyd Funeral Home for thirty-one years from 1963-1994. She was a graduate of Stephens College, Columbia, Mo. She served on various Boards and Committees as well as Youth Leader in the United Methodist Church for fourteen years. She was a member of Weston Chapter #40, Order of the Eastern Star, Life member of the Theresa O. Snaith Hospital Auxiliary of the Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital, and a life member of the Hacker's Creek Pioneer Descendants. She was a member of the Broad St. United Methodist Church.
Friends will be received at the Broad St. United Methodist Church on Thursday, August 4, from 4-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 5, at 11:00 a.m. at the Broad St. United Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Justice and Mrs. Debby Shackleford officiating. Interment will follow in the Weston Masonic cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Memorial Fund of the Broad St. United Methodist Church at 120 Broad St., Weston, WV 26452.

Lillian Frances Alfred
Lillian Frances Alfred, 97, of Sunset Acres community, Weston, died Saturday, August 6, 2011, at the Meadowview Manor Health Care Center in Bridgeport, following a recent illness.
She was born March 18, 1914, in Weston, a daughter of the late Perry G. Alfred and Lillian Springston Alfred.
Surviving are one brother, Philip Charles Alfred and his wife Lois of Bridgeport, and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Helen Alfred, and three brothers, Robert E. Alfred, Richard B. Alfred, and Thomas J. Alfred.
Frances was a member of the First Baptist Church of Weston and was involved in various church activities for over 85 years as a member of that church.
Frances graduated from Weston High School and attended West Virginia Wesleyan in Buckhannon, WV. She retired from Danser Hardware after many years of service. She was also employed as a secretary for DaCosta Smith and Son law firm and worked at the Pentagon in Washington, D. C.
Special thanks go to Cecile Hornung and Fran Stout who provided Frances great joy and assistance in her later years and after the passing of her sister.
Friends were received Tuesday, August 9, at Boyle Funeral Home, 322 Main Ave., Weston. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 10, from the Boyle Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Kenneth Miller officiating. Interment will follow in the Waldeck cemetery.

Irene (See) Hall
Irene (See) Hall, 91, of the Country Living Personal Care Home of Jane Lew, formerly of the Camden Community, passed away at 11:10 a.m. on Friday, August 5, 2011 at the personal care home following an extended illness.
She was born in Lewis County on June 14, 1920; daughter of the late Ralph See Sr. and Catherine (Linger) See.
On January 3, 1944, she married Simeon A. Hall Jr., who preceded her in death on March 20, 2001.
Mrs. Hall is survived by one daughter, Donna (Hall) Davis of Jane Lew; and one son, Frederick See Hall (Patty) of Cottageville. She is also survived by four grandsons, Joseph G. Davis, III (Jody), Jason Davis (Christine), Chris Hall (Carol), and Jim Biggs (Sarah); two granddaughters, Rechelle Hall and Megan Biggs Howerton (Franklin); eight great-grandchildren: Dalton, Lexy, Emily and Garrett Davis, Dylan, Nathan, and McKennan Hall and Mia Franklin; and one granddaughter-in-law, Nicky Davis. Also surviving is one sister, Mabel (See) Weidlich (Bob) of Charleston; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Simeon, she was preceded in death by one brother, Ralph See Jr.; one sister, Enola (See) Martin; and one grandson: Brad L. Davis.
Mrs. Hall was co-owner and operator of Hall Tractor Sales of Camden. She was an active member of the Broad Street United Methodist Church of Weston where she was Sunday school teacher and Bible School teacher. She was a graduate of Weston High School, "Class of 1938" and attended the Business School of Parkersburg.
Mrs. Hall was past Worthy Matron of Chapter #40 Order of Eastern Star of Weston, past District Deputy President of the Fernleaf Rebekah Lodge #101, past President of the Weston WCTU and former member of the Farm Bureau.
Family and friends were received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home, Weston, on Sunday, August 7, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services were held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Clifford West officiating assisted by Reverend Richard Justice. Interment followed services in the Weston Masonic cemetery. An Eastern Star service was held on Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. from the funeral home chapel.

Freda Mae Larson
Freda Mae Herron Larson passed away August 5, 2011, at the age of 97, in Indiana, Pa.
She was born in Cairo, W.Va., on August 17, 1914. She was the daughter of the late William and Ada Parks Herron of Weston.
Freda went to nursing school in Weston and practiced at the General Hospital on Third Street before marrying and moving to Florida.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Larson; five brothers, Jim, Charles, Ben, Dan and Paul Herron; and one sister, Maelene Herron Zinn.
Surviving is her son, Sammy Wayne Larson and wife Gail of Indiana, Pa.; two grandchildren and one great-grandson; two sisters, Willelma (Billie) Jones of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Ada Jean Oldaker of Texas; along with several nephews and nieces.
Memorial services will be held in Indiana, Pa., at a future date.
James "Jim" Ralston
James "Jim" Ralston, 83, died Thursday, August 4, 2011, at the Lakes at Litchfield in Pawleys Island, S.C.
Mr. Ralston was born in Weston, on October 21, 1927, the son of the late Er Ralston and Katharine Stevens Ralston.
He graduated from the University of West Va. and received his Master's Degree in Forest Management from N.C. State University. Mr. Ralston was a communicant of Prince George, Winyah, Episcopal Church. He served on the Vestry at Prince George as both Senior and Junior Warden, as well as at Episcopal churches in Bainbridge, Ga., Wilmington, N.C. and in Marion.
Mr. Ralston was a former President of Rotary Clubs in Georgetown, Bainbridge and Marion and was a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a former President of the Board at Tidelands Community Hospice and a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and Winyah Indigo Society. He served in the US Navy. Mr. Ralston retired after 40 years in Forest Management from International Paper Co.
Mr. Ralston loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed boating, fishing and hunting. He had a lifelong passion for history and travel. His volunteer pursuits were numerous, including Habitat for Humanity and reading at Maryville Elementary School.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Helen Hamilton Ralston of Pawleys Island; two sons, James Er Ralston (Cathy) of Winston-Salem, N.C. and Henry Hamilton Ralston (Sherri) of Charlotte, N.C.; two daughters, Edwina Ralston Bieber (Jay) of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Allison Ralston Leggett (Leon) of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; and six grandchildren, Brad, Harris, Holly and Frances Ralston, and David and James Leggett.
Mr. Ralston was predeceased by his sister, Rebecca Ralston Kaissling.
Memorial services were at two o'clock on Saturday afternoon, August 6, at Prince George, Winyah, Episcopal Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Paul Fuener. A reception was held on Saturday after the service at the Church.
