Ruth L. Nichols
Ruth L. Martin Nichols, 76, of 868 Winter Avenue, Weston, died Wednesday, February 21, 2007, at her home, after an extended illness.
She was born April 25, 1930, in Weston.
She was preceded in death by her foster mother, Aldah Rohrbough, and her husband, Herbert Nichols.
Ruth was an avid swimmer when she was younger. She loved talking to and spending time with her neighbors. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Weston. She is survived by her foster sister, Ann Davis of Ohio; special friends, Tommy and Anna Metz and family of Weston, with whom she made her home; Mary Hosey and family, Nancy Harris and Lash "Grandpa" Metz, all of Weston; and Donna White of Jane Lew.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Machpelah cemetery of Weston, with the Reverend Ken Miller officiating.

Elizabeth Ann Reel
Elizabeth Ann Reel, 73, of Lightburn, passed away Monday, February 26, 2007, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
She was born March 16, 1933, in Washington, D.C., the daughter of Arten Burton Dye and Bessie V. Whipp Dye.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband of 51 years, Robert L. Reel, whom she married August 14, 1955, in Jane Lew. She is also survived by eight children, MaryAnn Flesher (Steve) of Avon Lake, Ohio, Sharon Helmick (Dale) of Berlin, Carol Sprouse (Leon) of Jane Lew, Roberta Simmons (Rodney Gibson) of Jane Lew, John Reel (Marie Bishop) of Weston, Donald Reel (Sheila) of Lightburn, Jim Reel (Andrea) of Newberry, South Carolina, and David Reel (Cindy) of Weston; 20 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. One sister, Helen Kincheloe of Virginia, and one brother, James Dye, also survives.
One sister, Doris Yeager, is deceased.
Mrs. Reel was a 1953 graduate of Jane Lew High School, a member of the Gee Lick CEOS and was the Lewis County Belle of 2005. She volunteered at the Hackers Creek Genealogy Library, was a member of the Stonewall Jackson Photography Club and was a member of the 4-H All Stars. Mrs. Reel spent many hours through the years as a leader in 4-H, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, a member of the Jane Lew PTA and FFA Alumni.
Friends and family may call at the Morris Funeral Home of Jane Lew on Thursday afternoon from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Morris Funeral Home Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. with the Rev. William Coffindaffer officiating. Burial will be in the Broad Run cemetery.
Nicholas J. Tierney
Nicholas J. Tierney, 70, of Jacksons Mill community, Weston, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2007, in Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital of Weston, following a brief illness.
He was born in Lewis County on December 11, 1936; son of the late Michael F. Tierney and Gertrude (Foley) Tierney.
Mr. Tierney is survived by one brother, Michael F. Tierney Jr. of Jacksons Mill; and three sisters, Mrs. George J. (Colette) Danek of Annapolis, MD, Mrs. W. Dale (Ellen) Myers of Wilmington, NC, and Mrs. Larry (Judith) Beeson of Weston. In addition, he is survived by two sisters-in-law, Mrs. James Edward (Lucy Jane) Tierney of Baltimore, MD, and Mrs. David (Martha) Tierney of Weston; and one brother-in-law, Ted J. (Catherine) Sleeth of Parkersburg. Mr. Tierney is also survived by his former wife, Carol Lunsford Tierney of West Palm Beach, FL. Also surviving are three grandhildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Timothy Tierney, three sisters and two brothers.
Mr. Tierney was a master diesel mechanic, having worked in this field throughout his life. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church of Weston.
Friends were received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home of Weston on Thursday, February 22, from 5 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday at 9 a.m. from St. Patrick Catholic Church of Weston with Father Jeremiah McSweeney as celebrant. Interment followed in the Machpelah cemetery of Weston. A rosary was conducted on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. from the funeral home chapel.
Ella Kathleen Allman
Ella Kathleen Allman, 94, of 3365 Hackers Creek Road, Jane Lew, died at 1:48 a.m. Thursday, March 8, 2007, at Nellas Nursing Home, Elkins, after a brief illness.
She was born April 8, 1912, in Jane Lew, a daughter of the late Martin and Mami Lawerence.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Allman; one daughter, Myna Flournoy; and two brothers, Ralph and Robert Lawerence.
She was a member of Fairview Methodist Church, Hackers Creek Road, Jane Lew. In the early 1930s, she graduated from Jane Lew High School. She loved reading and writing poetry. In her early years she worked as a telephone operator in Jane Lew and at the YMCA as a waitress. She loved to go to yard sales. She enjoyed sewing very much. She was very active in her community.
She is survived by one son, Ted Allman of Kansas City, KS; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Boyle Funeral Home of Weston on Sunday, March 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 12, at Fairview Methodist Church, Jane Lew, with the Reverend Roger McGee officiating. Interment followed in the Fairview cemetery, Jane Lew.
James R. Cobb
James R. "Jim" Cobb, 74, of 13042 Duane Drive, Doylestown, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2007, in Doylestown, Ohio, following a lengthy illness.
He was born in Bulltown on August 25, 1932; son of the late Clarence "Cooch" Cobb and Janet I. (Hamilton) Cobb.
On December 21, 1952, he married Patty A. (Graff) Cobb, who survives.
Also surviving are one son, James R. Cobb Jr. and wife Debbie of Bakersfield, CA; one daughter, Rebecca Ann Perry of Bakersfield, CA; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Cobb is also survived by two brothers, Homer V. Cobb of Tulsa, OK, and Marvin J. Cobb and wife Margurite of West Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
Jim worked for the Weston Laundry and Cleaners for several years following graduation from high school. He then went into business for himself, operating Ashland Service Station in Weston and the Weston City Cab Company.
After selling his Weston businesses, Jim and his family moved to Bakersfield, CA, where he went to work for Dowell Schlumberger. At retirement, Jim and his wife moved to Doylestown, OH, to be near family.
Jim served his country during the Korean Conflict as a corporal in the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of Weston Lodge #10 A.F. & A.M. and Nemesis Shrine Temple of Parkersburg. He loved and sang gospel music and was an avid NASCAR fan.
Family and friends were received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home of Weston on Saturday, March 10, from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services were held on Sunday at 1 p.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Basil Hensley officiating. Interment will follow in the Falls Mill cemetery, Falls Mills. Weston Lodge #10 A.F. & A.M. will conduct graveside rites.
Jimmy O. Linger
Jimmy O. Linger, age 64, of Buckhannon, died Friday, March 9, 2007, at Fairmont General Hospital in Fairmont.
He was born February 8, 1943, in Lewis County, a son of the late French and Ressie Shoulders Linger.
On December 1, 1963, he married Thelma Bennett, who survives.
Also surviving are four sons, French, Isaac and Brian Linger, all of Buckhannon and Jimmy Linger, Jr. of Good Hope; two daughters, Cynthia and Lori Linger, both of Buckhannon; one grandson, Travis Mallett of Buckhannon; three granddaughters, Amy and Clarissa Linger, both of Buckhannon and Paris Linger of Lewis County; three brothers, Ralph Linger of Weston, Norman Linger of Buckhannon and Carl Linger of Letter Gap; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Linger; and three sisters, Norma Campbell, Joann Starcher and Louise Hefner.
Mr. Linger was a health service worker at William R. Sharpe Hospital in Weston and a member of the Message of Light Tabernacle in Weston, FOE Lodge # 4357 and Buckhannon Moose Lodge # 598.
Friends were received from 4-9 p.m., Monday, March 12, at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Bob Hoover officiating. Barbara Ellen Linger
Barbara Ellen Linger, 71, of Wakefield Street, Bridgeport, passed away Monday evening, March 12, 2007, at Ruby Memorial Hospital.
She was born March 3, 1936, in Weston, a daughter of the late Rudolph Joseph Utzman and Mabel Agnes Peninegar Utzman Smith.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 51 years, Kenneth Dee Linger. The couple was married on August 21, 1955.
Additionally, she is survived by her three daughters, Caryl Ann Trippett and her husband Mark of Bridgeport, Linda Lou Linger of Jacksonville, FL, and Alice Lea Oldaker and her husband Tom of Bridgeport; two grandchildren, Ashley Nicole Trippett and Justin Michael Trippett; and her only sister, Caryl McLaughlin and her husband James of Albuquerque, NM.
A member of the Bridgeport Presbyterian Church, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and spending time at their cabin in Buckhannon. She also liked creating flower arrangements, playing cards and gardening.
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Ave., Bridgeport, from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, where a funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday with Reverend James Lang presiding. Interment will follow in the Bridgeport cemetery.

Creedie E. Richards Jr.
Creedie E. Richards Jr., 74, of 650 Craig Street, Weston, passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2007, in Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital, following an extended illness.
He was born in Gilmer County on October 26, 1932; son of the late Creedie E. Richards and Lula J. (McHenry) Richards.
On June 8, 1973, he married Irma (Henline) Richards, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Wavalene Donaldson of Jane Lew and Linda Hicks of Berlin; and one stepdaughter, Janet Mendez of Mount Clare. Mr. Richards is also survived by two sisters, Judith Leonne Metz and husband Paul and Norma Lee Peters, all of Weston; six grandchildren, three step grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Watson.
Mr. Richards retired from the Weston State Hospital. He drove truck for the Weston Concrete Company for several years. Creedie was a combat veteran, serving as a sergeant in the 25th Infantry Division with the 35th Regiment K Co. 3rd Platoon during the Korean Conflict from 1950-51. He was a Methodist by faith.

William Dale Rinehart
William Dale Rinehart, 70, of Seminole, Florida, died Tuesday, March 6th at home.
Born in Weston, he moved to St. Petersburg, FL, in 1986.
He was a veteran of the Korean War where he served as a staff sergeant. He attended Marshall University. He taught for 17 years at J.D. Rockefeller Vo-Tech Center, New Cumberland, and served 12 years as Weir High School golf coach.
He owned and operated Johnson’s A.C. of St. Petersburg, FL, from 1985 – 1997. He loved golf and was a 20 year member of Seminole Lakes Country Club.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years Marie Rinehart of Seminole; his daughter, Laurie Vaughn-Grantges and her husband Terry of Seminole; his two sons, Douglas Rinehart of Weston and Peter David Vaughn and his wife Natalia of Seminole; his sisters, Eleanor Weaver of WV, Patricia Bail of MI, and Judy Whalen of TX; his two sisters-in-law, Nancy Rinehart of FL, and Millie Koval of Seminole; his two grandsons, Timothy and Matthew Rinehart of WV; his three granddaughters, Liana, Abigail and Melanie Grantges of Seminole. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Timothy W. Titus
Timothy W. Titus, 72, of Sycamore Road, Clarksburg, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at the United Hospital Center at Clarksburg after an extended illness.
He was born at Kincheloe, WV, April 17, 1934, the son of the late Edward W. Titus and Mrs. V. Pauline Carder Titus, who survives at Good Hope.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Virginia M. Titus of Sycamore Road, Clarksburg. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by four sons, Timothy W. Titus Jr. of Salem, Kenneth E. Titus of Lost Creek, Gary L. Titus of Weston, and B. Scott Titus of Philippi; two daughters, Kimberly S. Butler of Alabama and Rose A. Spencer of Clarksburg; one brother, James E. Titus of Good Hope, and nine grandchildren.
Mr. Titus was a retired coal miner, having worked at Barbour Coal Company for several years. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing

Harold Blair Andrew
Mr. Harold Blair Andrew died on April 15, 2007, at Devon Care at Devon in Devon, PA.
He was born on May 18, 1923, in Weston, WV.
Mr. Andrew was a veteran of the United States Navy stationed on Midway Island during World War II. He received his B.A. degree in Electrical Engineering from West Virginia University as well as his M.A. degree in Physics also from West Virginia University. He was an assistant professor at West Virginia University from 1951-1952.
Mr. Andrew was employed as an Aeronautical Engineer with General Electric Company. He retired in 1991 after 18 years of service.
Mr. Andrew was the husband of Laura Jean Fitzhugh Andrew of Wayne, PA. He is also survived by his daughter, Linda J. Senko of Lansing, MI; his grandchildren, Lissa Wiginton and Brian Wiginton; and five great-grandchildren.
He was the son of the late Samuel Andrew and Mae Blair Andrew.
A funeral service was celebrated in the Ford Funeral Home, Bridgeport, on Saturday at 1 p.m. with Reverend Steven E. Dorsey presiding. The interment followed in the Bridgeport cemetery, Bridgeport, where the West Virginia National Honor Guard provided military rites.
