Arnold Patterson “Red” Bailey Sr., 76, of Oak Hill, passed away Friday, Jan. 6, 2006, at Raleigh General Hospital.
Born July 6, 1929, he was the son of the late Leonard and Eva Roxanna Bolen Bailey.
He was a member of Crab Orchard Church of the Brethren and a coal miner for 19 years before becoming disabled. Arnold was also a Korean War veteran.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Alford Jack Bailey; and a sister, Elva O’Neal.
Those left to cherish his loving memory include sons, Arnold “Pat” Patterson Bailey II of Oak Hill and Michael Lee Bailey and wife, Angie, of Oak Hill; a daughter, Shirlene Burgess and husband, Jerry, of Oak Hill; and brothers, Kenneth Bailey of Chicago, Ill., Joseph Bailey of Midway and Blaine Bailey of Lester.
Special thanks to Extenda Care, and the Commission on Aging workers, and to Two South Nursing Staff, Nathan, Tanya, Paula and the rest of the staff. Also extending a special thanks to Karen Birtt.
Service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Williams-Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Sophia, with the Rev. Eric Clay officiating. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Pea Ridge Road, Oak Hill.
Visitation will be one hour before service Monday at the funeral home.

Leo Barnabi
Leo Barnabi, 74, of Beckley, died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006, at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital following a long illness.
Born Jan. 21, 1931, at Paint Creek, he was the son of the late Patsy Barnabi and India Bonds Barnabi.
Mr. Barnabi was a retired employee of the city of Beckley with 38 years of service as a heavy equipment operator.
He was preceded in death by a son, Mark Tony Barnabi; two brothers, Eddie and Frank Barnabi; and three sisters, Mary Stewart, Helen Hatfield and Jean DeAngelis.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Rose Albert Barnabi; two sons, Gary Barnabi of Beckley and Brian Barnabi of Beckley; three brothers, Tom Barnabi and wife, Betty, of Logan, Johnny Barnabi and wife, Mae, of Beaver Falls, Pa., and Bob Barnabi and wife, Nellie, of Prosperity; grandchildren, Shane Barnabi, Jeremy Barnabi, Jessica Barnabi, Brian Barnabi, April Barnabi and Hope Weidensall; and six great-grandchildren.
Service will be 1 p.m. today at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel, Beckley, with Pastor Roger Pauley officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.

BALTIMORE — Willie Mae Barnett, 59, of Baltimore, formerly of Beckley, died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2006, in Baltimore, following a short illness.

Cecil Edward Byers
CRAIGSVILLE — Cecil Edward Byers, 83, of Callahan Road, Craigsville, died Friday, Jan. 6, 2006, at his home.
Born May 15, 1922, at Clifton Forge, Va., he was a son of the late Joseph Milton and Willie Belle Angle Byers.
His first wife, Lydia Humphrey Byers, and his second wife, Delcie Perrine Byers, preceded him in death.
He was a retired coal miner, a member of the UMWA, and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.
Survivors include his son, Danny E. Byers Sr. of Ravenswood; two grandchildren, Danny E. Byers Jr. of Stockbridge, Ga., and Franklin L. Byers of Dallas, Ga.; two great-grandchildren, Lauren and Amber Byers; two brothers, Don Allen Byers of Fishersville, Va., and Vernon Byers of Blandensburg, Md.; and a sister, Ruth Toney of Ferrellsburg.
Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at White Funeral Home, Craigsville, with the Rev. David Sanderson officiating. Interment will follow in Poplar Ridge cemetery near Sutton.
The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Joan Lillian Cox
RONCEVERTE — Joan Lillian Cox, 65, of 140 Sunset Drive, Ronceverte, died Friday, Jan. 6, 2006, at the residence of her son at Flat Top Lake.
Born in Fall River, Mass., on Dec. 7, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Alton and Marion Gill Greene.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Princeton. She had been a resident of Ronceverte since 1999, moving there from Princeton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Morris Cox.
Survivors include two sons, Dr. Rodney Cox and his wife, Lora, of Flat Top Lake and David Cox and his wife, Annette, of Ronceverte; two grandchildren, Thomas David Cox and Bethany Ann Cox; a brother, Matthew A. Greene and his wife, Helen, of Fall River; and two nephews, Michael Greene and Stephen Greene and his wife, Diane.
Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home, Princeton, with Father Manuel Gelido officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Park cemetery.
Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, where a Christian wake service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m.

Dallas Kirk ‘Biggun’ DeHart
OCEANA — Dallas Kirk “Biggun” DeHart, 5 years and 10 months old, of Oceana, passed away Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006, at Logan Regional Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 23, 2000, in Beckley, a son of Mitzi Mae Mitchell of Oceana and Robin Curtiss DeHart of Oceana.
Dallas enjoyed life to its fullest, especially playing tee-ball, going to church, riding bikes, video games, playing with his cousin Autumn, vacationing at Virginia Beach, watching Disney movies, going to the circus, Chuckee Cheese and Water Waves. He always found a way to make life fun, like pretending to be a superhero (Batman, Spiderman, Superman or a Power Ranger), playing outside and spending time with his sister and brother, and wanted to be a teacher when he grew up. He especially loved Christmas and all the Christmas trees, but the live trees were the best to him.
He was a kindergarten student in Debbie Smith and Linda Evans’ class at Berlin McKinney Elementary School in Oceana.
His paternal grandfather, Tex DeHart of Oceana, preceded him in death.
Survivors also include a sister, Holly Amber DeHart of Oceana; a brother, Presley Wayne DeHart of Oceana; maternal grandparents, James and Trula Mitchell of Lynco; paternal grandmother, Clara DeHart of Oceana; his stepmother, Heather DeHart of Oceana; two stepsisters, Shauna and Stacey Balzer of Kamloops, Canada; an aunt, Patricia Mitchell of Lynco; three uncles, Phil DeHart and wife, Lynn, of Sabine, Scotty Mitchell and wife, Carol, of Alderson and Danny Mitchell and wife, Amanda, of Sun Hill; cousins, Autumn Rose and Connor Chase DeHart, James and Kaitlyn Bertka, Brandon and Bradley Mitchell, Levi Mitchell, Danny Mitchell II, Kaleigh Storm Malone, Kayla Tincher and Destiny Chambers; his black and white cat, Tommy, and his dog, Floyd; special friends Jesse Womack, Jade Womack, Adam Bradford, Don “Poppie” and Liz “Nanny” Raegan, Brala Kennedy, Andrew Cline and his kindergarten classmates; along with a host of other loving family and friends.
Dallas always had a smile for everyone he met and enjoyed every moment.
Service will be 1 p.m. Monday at the chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, with Brothers Randall Topping, Timmy Brewster, Randy Bowles, Tommy White and Adam Bradford officiating. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny.

James Franklin Feamster
KILL DEVIL HILLS, N.C. — James Franklin Feamster, 67, died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006, at his residence.
Born in Alderson, he was the son of the late George Samuel Feamster Sr. and the late Lena Karns Feamster.
He was a member of Kitty Hawk United Methodist Church, a Master Mason with Shryock Lodge No. 47 in Ronceverte and a member of American Legion Post No. 26.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Ann Feamster.
Mr. Feamster is survived by his wife, Susan Vermilya Feamster; four sisters, Marjorie Feamster Sharp of Grafton, Va., Rebecca Feamster Loudermilk of Frankford, Mary Feamster Phillips of Rutherfordton, N.C., and Rachel Feamster Goodall of Alderson; and three brothers, Richard Kyle Feamster of Alderson, Henry Olin Feamster of Ronceverte and George Samuel Feamster Jr. of Hinton.
A celebration of life will be 6 p.m. Monday at the Kitty Hawk United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall by the Rev. Richard Stone and the Rev. Brad Bradshaw. Graveside memorial service will be held in Clifton Forge, Va., at a later date.

Robert Dean Hendrix
CRICHTON — Robert Dean Hendrix, 63, of Crichton, passed away Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006, at his home following a long illness.
Born Dec. 7, 1942, in Amigo, he was a son of the late Preston and Adina Royse Hendrix.
Mr. Hendrix had served in the U.S. Army and had worked as a maintenance engineer.
Survivors include his wife, Marguerite Hendrix; a daughter, Sherri Ramirez of Rainelle; three sons, Carl Hendrix of Newburg, Md., Michael Hendrix of Rainelle and Stephen Hendrix of Rupert; two brothers, Roy Hendrix of Charles Town and Ray Hendrix of Asbury; and 12 grandchildren.
Service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Wallace and Wallace Chapel, Rainelle.
Visitation will be one hour before service Monday at the funeral home. There will be no evening visitation.
At his request, the body will be cremated after the service.

Ramona Lynn Kincaid
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Ramona Lynn Kincaid, 46, of Jacksonville, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006, in St. Lukes Hospital, Jacksonville.
Ramona was born April 24, 1959, in Baltimore, Md., the daughter of Barbara Ann Prince Cogar of Shady Spring and Elijah Lee Kincaid of Piney View.
Survivors include her husband, Terrance “Terry” Artrip of Richwood; her son, Tristan Brant Kincaid; a brother, Robert L. Kincaid; three sisters, Teresa A. Maddy of Coal City, Pamela Thompson of Shady Spring and Karen Snider of Daniels; and nine nieces and nephews.
Service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Simons-Coleman Funeral Home, Richwood. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park, Richwood.
Friends may call noon until time of service Monday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
