FAYETTEVILLE — William R. “Wig” Feazell, 82, of Fayetteville, passed away Thursday, Jan. 12, 2006, at the Beverly Health Care Center in Glasgow.
Born May 9, 1923, at Beckwith, he was the son of the late Elmer H. Feazell and Isabelle Arthur Feazell.
Mr. Feazell graduated from Fayetteville High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. His rank was corporal when he received his honorable discharge. He enjoyed collecting coins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Isabelle Feazell; a son, Randy Feazell; a brother, Elmer Lee Feazell; two sisters, Betty June Bowles and Gloria Rhodes; and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Anne Feazell.
Survivors include his daughter, Elizabeth Ann “Ginger” Blackburn of Charleston; three grandsons, Wayne Taylor and his wife, Melissa, of Corbin, Ky., Carl Lee Blackburn III of Charleston and Randall Stewart Feazell II of Beckwith; four great-grandchildren, Roger Wayne Taylor of Annapolis, Md., Christina R. Taylor of Corbin and Mark Feazell and Avrey Feazell, both of Ansted; and brother-in-law, William “Bill” Rhodes, and nephew, Ronald “Punkin” Wygal, both of Beckwith, with whom he made his home.
Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home Chapel, Fayetteville, with the Rev. Mack Canterbury officiating. Burial will follow in Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville. Military rites will be conducted by Oak Hill VFW Post 3110.
Visitation will be one hour before service Sunday at the funeral home.

Margaret A. Freeland
Margaret A. Freeland, 84, of Maryland Avenue, Beckley, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2006, at her home after a long illness.
Born March 11, 1921, in Mount Hope she was the daughter of the late Henry Daniel and Mary Alzola Tucker.
Mrs. Freeland was a homemaker and a retired cook with the Raleigh County Board of Education. She was a member of Daniels Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Epson S. Freeland; three sisters, Eula Shumate, Martha Reed and Virginia Athey; and five brothers, A. R. Sam, Carlos, Howard, Jimmy and James Tucker. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Rebecca Aaron of Beckley, with whom she made her home; two sons: Larry Freeland and wife, Jeannie, of Daniels and Don Freeland and wife, Carey, of Bluffton, S.C.; grandchildren, Shannon Lilly and husband, Louis, of Shady Spring, Michelle Tocado of Waxhaw, N.C., Paul E. Aaron of Winston-Salem, N.C., Mark Aaron and wife, Sherry, of East Bend, N.C., and Nate and Noah Freeland of Bluffton; great-grandchildren, Mark E. Aaron of Spokane, Wash., Gunner Tocado of Waxhaw, Luke Lilly of Shady Spring and Jeremy Ayers of Fairdale; many nieces and nephews; and caregivers, Carol Richmond and Brenda Adkins.
Service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Melton Mortuary Chapel, Beckley, with Pastor Jack Thomas officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.
Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be her nephews, Felix Shumate, Doug Shumate, Wayne Tucker and Greg Shumate, and grandsons Mark and Paul Aaron.

Johnnie B. Hill
HILLSBORO — Johnnie B. Hill, 93, of the Jacox Community, died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2006, at Pocahontas Memorial Hospital.
Johnnie was a farmer and West Virginia Insurance Co. agent, a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, Hillsboro, the Pocahontas County Historical Society, a 50-year member of the Farm Bureau, Odd Fellows, Rebekahs, Masonic Lodge and Order of Eastern Star.
He was born at Jacox on May 11, 1912, the son of the late Joseph Wilson and Lizzie Larue Boggs Hill.
In addition to his parents, his wife, Madaline Shafer Hill, and brothers, Herbert C. Hill, Hugh C. Hill and Marshall Hill, preceded him in death.
His daughters, Phyllis H. (Mrs. Harlan) Kinnison and Linda H. (Mrs. Thomas) VanReenen, both of Hillsboro, three grandchildren and a great-grandchild survive him.
The Revs. Ralph Bauserman, Ed Vallandingham and Lucy Youngblood will hold services at 3 p.m. today at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, Hillsboro. Burial will follow in Oak Grove cemetery, Hillsboro, with Masonic rites.

Ruby H. Hylton
CLEARWATER, Fla. — Ruby H. Hylton, 82, died at 12:20 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006, at Largo Medical Center following a long illness.
Born June 29, 1923, at Blue Jay, she was the daughter of the late Irving Bolen and Sarah Elizabeth Cox Bolen.
Mrs. Hylton was a homemaker. She had a love for gardening and flowers. She was a longtime member of Hilltop Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wiley E. Hylton, in 1974, and never remarried; and a son, Elmer E. Hylton, in 2005.
Survivors include a son, Roger L. Hylton and wife, Linda, of Crab Orchard; daughters, Jo Ann Corder and her husband, William R. “Rick,” of Clearwater, Connie Hylton of Clearwater and Betty Powers of Beckley; a daughter-in-law, Janit Hylton of Daniels; a brother, Silas Bolen of Blue Jay; a sister, Orphie “Tillie” Crews of Blue Jay; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. Patrick Haynes officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.

William ‘Bill’ Lawton
OAK HILL — William “Bill” Richard Lawton, 84, died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2006, at Charleston Area Medical Center, Memorial Division.
Born Feb. 24, 1921, in Sunbury, Pa., he was the son of the late George Russell and Kathryn M. Wallace Lawton.
Mr. Lawton retired in 1986 as a car salesman for Steen-Miller Inc., of Oak Hill.
Bill was a longtime member of Oak Hill Baptist Church and the Shirley Donnelly Bible Class. He was a past member and president of the Mount Hope Lions Club. He was an avid sports fan.
Mr. Lawton proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army Military Intelligence.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Doris K. Bolen and June N. Cetwinski; and two brothers, Jack P. Lawton and George W. Lawton.
Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Patsy Blake Lawton; two brothers, Thomas W. Lawton and wife, Agatha, of Chesterfield, Va., and Robert D. Lawton of Mount Prospect, Ill.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Oak Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. David White officiating. Burial will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.

Danny Joe Loudermilk
VALLEJO, Calif. — Dan Loudermilk, 54, passed away Monday, Jan. 2, 2006, at Kaiser Permanete Medical Center in California following a long illness.
Born May 18, 1951, he was the son of Roscoe Loudermilk of Prosperity and the late Trudy Loudermilk.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Loudermilk, and his two sons, Karl and D.J. II, all of Vallejo; a brother, Paul (Elizabeth) of Prosperity; and a niece, April Jane Loudermilk of Fredericksburg, Va.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley, with the Rev. Stephen Davis officiating.

Rose Frances Zandlo Pawlus
SCARBRO — Rose Frances Zandlo Pawlus, 91, died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2006, at Hidden Valley Healthcare Center in Oak Hill, following a short illness.
Born Sept. 24, 1914, at Oswald, she was the daughter of the late Joseph “Joe” and Agnes Barbara Vetak Zandlo.
Rose was a retired sales clerk, having worked for Mahoney’s Grocery Store and Cook Department Store.
She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Oak Hill.
She was preceded in death by a son, “Sonny” Pawlus Jr., and daughter-in-law, Carol Pawlus.
As the last surviving member of her immediate family, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Joe Zandlo, and six sisters, Mary Wise, Annie Wise, Millie Sulesky, Frances Christian, Leona Harmon and Helen Crouch.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 67 years, John Edward Pawlus Sr.; a son, Steve Pawlus and wife, Rita, of Scarbro; six grandchildren, Sandy Pawlus, Cynthia Dorman, Cherrie Thomas, Lisa Anderson, Brian Pawlus and Greg Pawlus; seven great-grandchildren, Amber Dorman, Ginny Dorman, Hannah Thomas, John Thomas, Ray Pawlus, Shyanne Pawlus and Hunter Anderson; and several nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Monday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Oak Hill, with Father Xavier Cooney, S.V.D., officiating. Burial will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.

Nola L. Shrewsberry
Nola L. Shrewsberry, 69, of Ghent, died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2006, at the home of her sister and brother-in-law, S. Ferrel and Jim R. Goes, in Bourbon, Mo., following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence Blackburn and Gladys Basham Shrewsberry, and an infant sister, Eva Dian.
Born Oct. 1, 1936, at Basin, she was the beloved seventh child of 11 children and the beloved sister of Reynard C. Shrewsberry (Eva F.) of Paducah, Ky., Alma E. Lusk (Tollison Jr.) of Bud, Imarie Zambrana (Luis G., deceased) of St. Louis, Mo., Lela Fern Dame (Robert J., deceased) of Ghent, Reva R. Shrewsberry of Ghent, Zelma J. Greathouse (H. Allen, deceased) of St. Louis, S. Ferrel Goes (Jim R.) of Bourbon, Reynold C. Shrewsberry (Violet C.) of Basin and Karen S. Marsh (James L.) of Arlington, Va.; beloved aunt of 17 nieces and nephews and 24 great-nieces and great-nephews.
Nola attended Long Wanted Elementary School in Egeria and graduated from Mark Twain High School in Stotesbury. She received a degree from Warren Wilson College in Swannanoa, N.C., and then graduated from The American Institute Business School in Washington, D.C. Her professional career began in Washington, D.C., in the early 1960s. In 1969, she joined the staff of the National Geographic Society’s Television Division working especially with division directors and executive producers of both the hour-long Television “Specials” feature films which aired on PBS television, and the Educational Films. She enjoyed the opportunity of attending conferences and seminars to introduce and demonstrate film-related educational materials. After 25 years Nola retired from National Geographic Society on Sept. 30, 1994.
Always interested in promoting education to children, Nola made personal donations of educational materials to public schools in West Virginia. Also committed to preserving family ties and family history, she took a leading role to organize reunions and family events.
Nola attended Mount Pisgah Church in Basin throughout her youth, was baptized, and continued her life in the Christian faith.
Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel, Mullens, with the Rev. Hugh McKinney officiating. Music will be provided by Pamela and Jeffrey Bishop. Burial will follow in the Shrewsberry Family cemetery at Barkers Creek. Family members will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may call 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
