Josephine Sale
HOUSTON — Josephine Sale, 89, died in Houston, Texas, Friday, May 5, 2006.
The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.J. Sale Sr., she was born June 30, 1917, in Fayetteville.
Josephine graduated from Fayetteville High School as valedictorian. She worked in the missionary field and was self-employed as a certified public accountant for 50 years. Josephine retired at the age of 84.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Earnestine Newman.
Survivors include her brother, J.J. Sale Jr. of Fayetteville; sister, Kathleen Leonard of Lake Wales, Fla.; and several nephews and nieces.
There will be no formal service per her request.

Waymon Dale Smith
WELLSTON, Ohio — Waymon Dale Smith, 39, of Wellston, formerly of Ingram Branch and Kincaid, passed away at his home Tuesday, May 2, 2006, from complications he received when his house was destroyed by fire on Feb. 16, 2006.
Dale had third-degree burns over 50 percent of his upper body. He spent seven weeks at Ohio State University ICU and another two weeks in the burn center and rehabilitation. He enjoyed being home from the hospital for two weeks.
He attended Oak Hill High School and joined the National Guard, where he finished school. While in the service, he was sent to Honduras twice. He was employed by Total Inc. Athens, Ohio. He was of the Methodist faith. Dale loved to hunt, fish, play his guitar and hear about family history.
He was born at Montgomery on Aug. 22, 1966, to Roger Dale Smith and the late Sandra Kay Maxwell Smith.
Other than his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Andrew Jasper Smith and Willie McCormick Smith, and Henry Clay Maxwell and Florence Coleman Maxwell.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Kathy Bryant Smith; two sons, Waymon Dale Smith Jr. and John Noah Smith, both at home; his father, Roger Dale Smith of Summersville and Mama Schirl Spinks of Summersville; four very special uncles, James and Lenard Smith of Kincaid, David Maxwell of Ironton, Ohio, and Barry Maxwell of Columbus, Ohio; four very special aunts, Elsie Smith Hughes of New London, Ohio, Dolly Smith Keffer of Coal City, Leona Smith Dye of Spencer and his very dear Aunt Pat Smith Manning of Princeton who he lived with after the passing of his mother; and a host of very close cousins and friends.
Any monetary contributions for Dale’s wife and two sons can be made at the viewing.
Service will be 3 p.m. Monday at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, with the Rev. Alfred Havens officiating. Burial will follow at Kincaid cemetery.
Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Military graveside rites will be conducted by VFW Post No. 3110 Oak Hill.
Pallbearers will be Dale’s cousins, Mark Smith, David Smith, Jeff Keffer, John Smith, Andrew Smith and Douglas Myers.
Robert Allen Stumpf
PENSACOLA, Fla. — Robert Allen Stumpf, 53, of Pensacola, died Tuesday, May 2, 2006.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Beulah Caves Blake Stumpf and William Francis Stumpf.
He is survived by a son, Robert Stumpf and daughter, Carrie Bell, of Baltimore, Md.; two grandchildren; brother, William Stumpf of Baltimore; a sister, Madeline Riser of Baltimore; beloved half brother, Leaborn “Pete” Blake and wife, JoAnn, of Beckley; half sisters, Beatrice Blake Farley of Beckley and Barbara Blake Currier of Bowie, Md; a host of aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces; and loving caregivers Brenda and Woody Yohan of Pensacola.
Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 9, at Trahan Family Funeral Home, 430 Beverly Parkway, Pensacola.

Rev. Thomas M. Waldron
PUNTA GORDA, Fla. — The Rev. Thomas M. Waldron was born in Clewiston, Fla., on Oct. 7, 1920, and passed away Thursday, May 4, 2006.
He spent all of his childhood years in that primitive environment and graduated from Clewiston High School in 1939. Shortly thereafter, war was declared on Japan in 1941 and he joined the U.S. Naval Air Force in Miami where he served until honorably discharged in November 1945. During the war he served on two aircraft carriers and was decorated for having been in four major battles in the South Pacific.
In 1946, he entered the evangelistic field as a single evangelist and soon thereafter married Maxine Greer, who joined him in the ministry with her outstanding ability in voice and music. After serving as evangelists for several years, he accepted the position of district youth president of the Peninsular Florida District Council of the Assemblies of God where he served for three years and then returned to the evangelistic field.
In 1951, he accepted the pastorate of First Assembly of God, Beckley, during which he constructed a church and an educational facility and began the construction of his first radio station. During his years in Beckley, in addition to the construction of his first radio station, he served as assistant district superintendent of the Appalachian District Council of the Assemblies of God. In Beckley, he also served as a member of the board of trustees of the Appalachian Regional Hospital, YMCA Board of Directors, Chamber of Commerce, United Fund, Ministerial Association and many other service organizations.
He retired from the church and entered the radio ministry where he constructed his second radio station and continued there for the next 12 years. With failing health, he sold the stations and returned to Florida to do limited evangelistic work.
In 1981, he accepted the pastorate of Southside Assembly of God in Lakeland, Fla., where he constructed a new church and pastored for nine years. After retirement, he remained in Lakeland for several years and then moved to Punta Gorda, where he served as senior associate pastor of Abundant Life Assembly of God.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine; son, Thomas D. Waldron; and two nieces, Mary Postell of Punta Gorda and Donna Hodges of Chipley, Fla.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Thomas M and Mayme Waldron; a brother, Urey Waldron; and sister, Louise Sias.
Visitation will be 3 to 4 p.m. today at the Assembly of God Community Life Center, 19048 Edgewater Drive, Port Charlotte, Fla. Service will follow the visitation at 4 p.m. at the church with the Rev Dennis Postell officiating. Burial will take place privately at Lakeland Memorial Gardens, Lakeland, Fla.

Carol E. Ward
Carol E. Ward, 54, of 106 Miller St., Beckley, died Friday, May 5, 2006, at her home following a long illness.
Born Dec. 1, 1951, at Hinton, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Starr and Essie Moye Starr.
Mrs. Ward was a homemaker. She lived in Beckley all of her adult life and at Miller Street for over 30 years.
Survivors include her husband, Gary Ward, and a son, Scott Loftis of Alum Creek.
Service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. Allan Copenhaver officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.
Friends may call one hour before service Monday at the funeral home.

James Paul Perkins
James Paul Perkins, of Crab Orchard, went to rest in the loving arms of the Lord at 8 p.m. Friday, April 14, 2006, at the age of 61 years, after a battle for three months with many illnesses associated with open-heart surgery.
Mr. Perkins was born Dec. 28, 1944, in Beckley, a son of the late Hayden Walter Perkins and Glidie Sneed Perkins.
Mr. Perkins was a disabled coal miner who had spent his life on Old Grove Road in Crab Orchard. He was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Perkins was loved by all who knew him, and will be sadly missed by many friends and his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Dana Lynn Perkins; and his brothers, Bill, Jerry, Charlie and Richard Perkins.
Those left with very fond memories of him are his daughter, Melissa Annette Allen, who shared a wonderful loving bond with her dad right to the end, and his son-in-law, Timothy “Rob” Allen, whom he shared a warm bond between two good friends, and his three grandsons, whom he adored and loved telling stories of the old days, David Russell “Rusty” Allen, Derrick Ray “Ricky” Allen and Dustin “Ryan” Allen, who looks like his papaw and talks like him. His presence will be greatly missed.
Other survivors include his brother, Frank Perkins of Crab Orchard; a sister, Shelby Perkins Tipton of Crab Orchard, where Mr. Perkins made his home; brothers, Hayden “Pete” Perkins and Johnny Perkins of Beckley; and a sister, Betty Simcox of Pennsylvania.
Others who shared a special bond with him were a niece who helped care for him, Phylichia Perkins, and his great-niece, Monique Perkins, whom he adored. Many other nieces and nephews also survive. He also had a very special friend, Barbara Wills of Beckley, with whom he shared a beautiful, loving relationship for over 36 years, and special friends, Jackie DeWeese of Crab Orchard and Teddy Lewis of Ohio.
A celebration of Mr. Perkins’ life will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. Billie Waddell officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.
Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Mabel Wilkson
PHOENIX, Ariz. — Mabel Wilkson, 95, of Phoenix, formerly of Clifftop, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2006, in Banner Thunderbird Medical Center, Glendale, Ariz., following a short illness.
Mabel was born Dec. 2, 1910, in Colorado, the daughter of the late Alonzo McClelland and Luella Copeland McClelland. She spent most of her life in Clifftop.
In 1966, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Jennings Wilkson; a daughter, Judy Jefferson; and son-in-law, Freddie Williams.
She was a homemaker and was a member of Kesler Memorial Presbyterian Church of Hico.
Survivors include a daughter, Jackie Williams of Phoenix; a son, Benny Wilkson and his wife, Paula, of Melbourne, Fla.; a sister, Lora McClelland of Clifftop; nine grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home Chapel, Ansted, with Pastor James Dempsey officiating. Burial will follow at Wallace Memorial cemetery, Clintonville.

Willie E. Toler
CLEARFORK — Willie E. Toler departed this life Wednesday, May 17, 2006, at the age of 77 years and seven days, following a short illness.
Born May 10, 1929, at Simon, he was the son of the late Aldie and Vicie Harper Toler.
Willie was a coal miner, member of Church of Zion of Hanover, loved to go to the river and feed ducks, loved his dog Katie, enjoyed driving, loved little children, enjoyed hanging out with his friends at McDonalds. He loved his family and was a very giving person.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Toler; four brothers, Edwin Toler, Jess E. Toler, Walter Toler and Larry Fred Toler.
Those left to cherish his memory are three daughters, Loretta Sue Parsons and her husband, Dallas Gene, of Clearfork, Willa Rose Thompson and her husband, Freddie C., of Clearfork and Melissa Dawn Cook and her husband, David H. Jr., of Buffalo, N.Y.; a son, Gary Dale Morgan and his wife, Daisy, of Kopperston; a brother, Benny V. Toler and his wife, Karen, of Crouches Farm; a sister, Juanita L. Morgan and her husband, James R., of Simon; seven grandchildren, Lora Jean Adkins, Bridget Mae Morgan, Dallas Eugene Parsons Jr., Nora Ashley Cook, Joshua D. Cook, and Christy Leeann Morgan; six great-grandchildren, Morgan Tyler Lester, Austin Allen Rambo, Bobby Joe Morgan Jr., Destney Leeann Rambo, Savannah Rose Parsons and Denora Burke; a special lifetime friend, Dan Goodman of Lillydale; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
A celebration of Willie’s life will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Adam Toler Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Timmy Brewster officiating. Burial will follow in Morgan cemetery, Long Branch.
