Cecil G. Williams, 85, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2006, at his home.
Born April 10, 1921, at Clear Creek, he was the son of the late Harvey and Pearl Maynor Williams.
Mr. Williams was a disabled miner and attended Artie Church of God. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Robert Kinder; a granddaughter; four brothers; and three sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Delora Stover Williams; two daughters, Vera Lawrence and her husband, Jerry, of Clear Creek Road, Beckley, and Betty Kinder of Prosperity; a son, Gaylard Williams and wife, Shirley, of Seymour, Ind.; his grandchildren whom he held close to his heart, Lisa Cabell of Ranson, Greg Lawrence of Ravenswood, Amy Lawrence of Kenova, Shane Kinder of Sand Branch, Ambra Amy of Maple Fork, Jonathan Williams of Gastonia, N.C., and Michael Williams of Marion, Ind.; eight great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Ashley, Caleb and Austin Lawrence, Makayla, Marissa, Madison and Logan Amy; a sister, Doris Spicer of Georgetown, Del.; and a brother, Ralph Williams of Illinois.
Service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Artie Church of God with the Rev. Jerry Lawrence and the Rev. Gaylard Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the church.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, nephew Thomas Williams and close friend, Darrell Williams.

Shirley Elizabeth Woodson
HILLTOP — Shirley Elizabeth Woodson, 69, of Hilltop Nursing Home, died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2006, at the nursing home.
Born Feb. 13, 1937, at Kaymoor, she was a daughter of the late Charles “Charlie” E. Woodson and Virginia Elizabeth Toney.
Ms. Woodson was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Charles E. Paisley, John Allen, Audrian O. Woodson, Charley Truedell Woodson, Norvell MacArthur Woodson, Freddie George Woodson and William “Billy” Woodson; and sisters, Dorothy Marie Johnson and Deloris Mae Woodson.
Survivors include her special friend, Robert “Butch” Warren of Hilltop; two sons, Roger Newsom of Fairmont and Ronald Newsom of Glen Jean; two daughters, Regina Harris of Cleveland, Ohio, and Sharon Rizi of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a brother, Melvin T. Woodson of Beckley; three sisters, Mamie Ledwell of Cleveland, Sherbdean Woodson Clark (Henry) of Beckley and Brenda Woodson-Morst (Kenny) of Beckley; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and friends.
Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Ritchie and Johnson Funeral Parlor Chapel, Beckley, with Bishop John Grant officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.

SIMON — Bonita Lea Kennedy, 37, of Long Branch (Simon), went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005, at her home.
Born July 31, 1968, at Man, she was a daughter of the late Rev. Charles Brooks and Edna Brooks Blankenship.
Bonnita was a devoted wife and mother and was a homemaker.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Joann Browning.
Bonnita was a member of the Long Branch Freewill Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and sang in the church choir.
Survivors include her husband of 17 years, Charlie Kennedy of Simon; two children at home, Breanna and Dustin; three sisters, Kathy Bryant and husband, Crenis, of Hanover, Madeleine Blankenship and husband, Joe, and Dreama Toler and husband, Jackie, all of Long Branch; three brothers, Rev. Barry Brooks and wife, Leisha, of Baileysville, Otis Brooks and wife, Virginia, and Robin Brooks, all of Long Branch; a brother-in-law, Ronnie Browning of Spice Creek; a sister-in-law, Carnetta Cline of Simon; and a host of many loved ones, friends and other relatives.

Agnes Hinchman Leach
ROANOKE, Va. — Agnes Hinchman Leach, 90, formerly of Alderson, died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005, at the South Roanoke Nursing Home, Roanoke, Va., following a long illness.
Born June 23, 1915, at Alderson, she was the daughter of the late John and Stella Johnson Hinchman.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tracy Leach; a sister, Virginia Riner; and two brothers, John Hinchman and Emerson Hinchman.
Mrs. Leach was a retired supervisor and social worker, having retired from the West Virginia Department of Human Resources. She was also a former school teacher, having taught school in West Virginia and Baltimore, Md. She was a graduate of Alderson High School, Alderson, and Concord College, Athens, and attended Radford University, Radford, Va.
Mrs. Leach was a member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church, Roanoke, where she was a member of the Women of the Church. She was a member of the Roanoke Woman’s Club, and the Thursday Morning Music Club.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Myrtle Hinchman of Baltimore, Md., and a cousin, Jean Rieschl of Pine Island, N.Y.
Graveside service and burial will be 2 p.m. today at the Green Hill cemetery, Union, with the Rev. Robert A. Fiedler officiating.

Brady Jean St. John Lucas
Brady Jean St. John Lucas, 77, of Beckley, died Sunday, Dec. 18, 2005, after a brave and determined struggle with cancer.
Born Sept. 9, 1928, at Hemphill/Welch, she was the daughter of the late Roger Holt St. John and Irene Ruth St. John of Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Raymond Lucas; and eldest daughter, Leslie Rae Lucas Cash of Chicago; also two brothers, Cody Herman St. John of Chicago and Arnold Dudney (Doug) St. John of McDowell County; a sister, Margaret St. John Alley of West Chicago; and a nephew, Wayne Woodson Alley.
Survivors include two daughters, Renee Lucas Halstead of North Carolina and Rebecca R. Lucas of Beckley; a grandson, Jeremy Kane Pack of U.S. Marine Corps and wife, Tina Pack; a granddaughter, Beth Cash Robertson of Chicago and husband, Scott Robertson; a sister, Hilda St. John Warner of Beckley; also cousins, nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law in West Virginia and other states.
She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by all.
Service will be 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 23, at Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home in Beckley, with the Rev. Charles (Butch) Acord officiating. Special music will be sung by Tina Pack. Entombment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Beckley.

Gary Raymond Stowers
Gary Raymond Stowers, 54, of Chestnut Mountain, died Dec. 20, 2005, at his home following an apparent heart attack.
Born Dec. 9, 1951, at Abraham, he was the son of the late James O. (George) Jennings and Garnet E. (Hall Stowers) Jennings.
Mr. Stowers served 13 years in the Military Police for the U.S. Army with the 304th Company. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 32. He was a member of the Coal City Masonic Lodge and a chief of police at Rhodell for three years and a police officer at Mabscott and Sophia. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Beckley Lodge No. 1606. He was also a coal miner.
He was preceded in death by a son, James Robert Stowers; a sister, Deloris Jean Stowers; an infant sister, Brenda Gail Stowers; and an infant brother, Gary Dale Stowers.
He was a loving Dad, brother, Paw Paw, uncle and friend. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 36 years, Margaret Ellen (Midge) Lucas Stowers; children, Loretta Stowers Hulgan and husband, Morris, of Bolt, Gregory Stowers and wife, Rosie, of Beckley, Lucy Stowers of Glen Morgan, Victor Stowers and companion, Angela Cox, of Fireco; brothers, Roger Dean Stowers of Beckley, William Stowers and wife, Becky, of Odd, Carl Stowers and wife, Diane, of Sophia, James Gordie Jennings of Odd, and Bob Jennings and wife, Julia, of North Carolina; 15 grandchildren, Mary, Stephen, George, Kayla, Dominique, Chastity, Michael, Justice, Phillip, Kristy, Savannah, Whitney, Paul, Candace and Daniel; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Service will be 3 p.m. Friday at Rose and Quesenberry Shady Spring Chapel with the Rev. Bobby Cales officiating. Burial will follow in the Jennings and Stowers cemetery at Odd.

SPRINGBORO, Ohio —Jack Christian, 80, formerly of Oak Hill, died Monday, Dec. 19, 2005, at Hillspring of Springboro in Springboro, Ohio, following a long illness.
Born June 7, 1925, at Richwood, he was the son of the late Mansford Christian and Ora Mae Ayers Christian Lawden.
Jack was retired from the C&P Telephone Company with 30 years of service. He was a member of the Oak Hill Baptist Church, Oak Hill.
He was a retired 30-year U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Cecelia Hess Christian; a son, William M. “Billy” Christian; and two sisters, Geraldene Poole and Madeline Haynes.
Survivors include a daughter, Rowena R. Conner of Springboro, Ohio; a brother, Gene Christian of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two grandchildren, Wm. Scott Conner and Kimberly Curren; and two great-grandchildren, Kelsie Conner and Christian Conner.
