Opal Mae Hensley Perry
Opal Mae Hensley Perry, 79, passed away Sunday, Dec. 11, 2005, at Raleigh General Hospital.
Opal was born Sept. 24, 1926, in Ury, W.Va. She was the daughter of Charles and Nora Hensley.
Mrs. Hensley worked at Wyoming General Hospital for approximately 12 years as a dietary aide and at Council on Aging of Itmann.
She was a deeply-devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and a member of Herndon Freewill Baptist Church.
Mrs. Perry was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Walter W. Perry; a daughter, Debra Mae Perry Walker; and four brothers, Junior, George, Ken and Wayne Hensley.
Those left to cherish her loving memory include three daughters, Linda, Cindy, and Lisa Perry of Beckley; two sons, Robert Perry and his wife, Wanda, of St. Augustine, Fla., and Walter Perry Jr. of Melbourne, Fla.; six grandchildren, Tonia Underwood of St. Augustine, Fla., Robert Perry of Beckley, Tammy Martel of Orlando, Fla., Donna Walker of Melbourne, Fla., Crystal Haynes of Itmann, Todd Perry of St. Augustine, Fla.; five sisters, Lavonne Cox of Ft. Meyers, Fla., Beulah Smith of Helen, Bernice Distin of Smithsburg, Md., Virginia Elmore Fisher of Raleigh and Erma Jean “Wanda” Moore of Tifton, Ohio; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, 5251 Robert C. Byrd Dr., Beckley, with the Rev. William O. Tolliver officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.

Charles F. Rosenecker
FAYETTEVILLE —Charles F. Rosenecker, 98, of Fayetteville, died Sunday, Dec. 11, 2005, at his home of natural causes.
Born Oct. 15, 1907, at Connellsville, Pa., he was the son of the late Charles Joseph “Pop” and Hannah Fletcher Rosenecker.
He was a retired bookkeeper for Long Airdox Corporation, Oak Hill.
Mr. Rosenecker was a member of the SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Oak Hill, where he had been a greeter for 20 years.
He was a resident of Fayetteville for almost 64 years.
His wife, Mildred Theresa Decker Rosenecker; two sisters, Cecelia Rosenecker and Margaret Frank; and a brother, Malachi Rosenecker, all preceded him in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Theresa Rosenecker of Fayetteville; a son, Charles N. “Chip” Rosenecker of Fayetteville; a brother, Arthur “Art” Rosenecker and a sister, Anna T. “Honey” Hearn, both of Buffao, N.Y.; two grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Oak Hill with Father John P. McDonough officiating. Burial will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.
Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Oak Hill, where a Prayer Service will be held at 8:30 p.m.

Waetta Mae Vandall
Waetta Mae Vandall, 76, of Bradley, passed away Monday, Dec. 12, 2005, at Raleigh General Hospital following a short illness.
Born March 27, 1929, at Oswald, she was the daughter of the late Walter P. and Etta Mae Broyles.
She was a nurse and a loving mother of three children. She is a member of the Pythian Sisters. She enjoyed her family and love of reading.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Franklin Vandall; four sisters, Maxine Walsh, Delorise Hutton, Barbara DeHart and Eileen B. Perry; and four brothers, Walter, Danny, Nathaniel and Dalton.
Survivors include two daughters, Annette Skaggs and husband, Gary, of Summerville, S.C., and Karen Smithson and husband, Gene, of Richwood; a son, Rick Vandall and wife, Susan, of Cool Ridge; eight grandchildren, Franklin Lee and Brian Wayne Skaggs of Summerville, S.C., Gene Smithson III of Richmond, Ky., Amanda K. Smithson of Richwood, Geoffery and Holly Vandall, Elizabeth and Jacob Quesenberry, all of Cool Ridge; great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Jonathan Skaggs, Joseph Colbie and Jacob Smithson, Lindsey McGriff and Brooke McKinley.

Robert ‘Dip’ Wood Sr.
GLEN JEAN — Robert “Dip” Floyd Wood Sr., 77, of Wood Mountain, died Saturday, Dec. 10, 2005.
Born Dec. 6, 1928, in Dempsey, W.Va., he was the son of the late Robert D. and Lillie May Floyd Wood.
Dip worked in the construction business in Fayette and Raleigh counties as well as Dayton, Ohio, and Norfolk, Va. He was the former owner of the Round Eight Corp, and served in the National Guard.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Floyd Wood Jr.; and an infant brother, William Wood.
Dip leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Nancy Blake Wood; a son, David C. Wood of Wood Mountain, Glen Jean; two daughters, Lee Ann Navicki, and her husband, Allen, and their two daughters, Julia Suzanne and Alaina Jane Navicki of Wood Mountain, Glen Jean, and Dr. Suzanne Osborne and husband, Leonard, of Naples, Fla., and grandson, Robert “Robbie” Wood of Oak Hill. He is also survived by a brother, Eugene Wood and wife, Loretta, of Norfolk, Va. and two sisters, Audrey Webb and Kathleen Spruill and husband, Jim, all of Boulder City, Nev.
Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, with the Rev. Bill Menefee officiating. Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. cemetery, Oak Hill.

Charles Curtis ‘C.C.’ Berry
CANYON, Texas —Charles Curtis “C.C.” Berry, 32, formerly of Meadow Bridge, and Seth, died Friday, Dec. 9, 2005, after his tractor trailer was struck by a train in Freona, Texas. His wife, Teresa, was accompanying him at the time and has also passed.
He had attended Meadow Bridge High School.
Survivors include three children, Joshua Robert Berry and Destiny Nicole Berry, both of Richmond, and Michael Bucksley Berry of Charleston; his father, Robert D. Berry of Carlisle, Pa.; his mother, Helen M. Wagner of Partlow, Va.; a sister, Robin Marie Balderson of Prince, W.Va.; two brothers, Jerry Christopher Berry of Spotsylvania County, Va., and Jonathan Robert Berry of Stafford County, Va.; his maternal grandfather, Curtis Robert Richmond of Meadow Bridge; several aunts and uncles, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Covenant Funeral Service, 4801 Jefferson Davis Highway, Fredericksburg, Va., with the Rev. Don Forrester officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

LINDSIDE — Grace M. Cook Comer, 93, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2005, at Carilion Giles Memorial Hospital, Pearisburg, Va.
Born Feb. 4, 1912, at Jesse, she was the daughter of the late Wooster and Maggie Cook.
Mrs. Comer came to Monroe County at the age of eight and lived here her entire life. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith, a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Mrs. Comer was one of ten children, with eight brothers and one sister preceding her in death. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Welch Comer; a granddaughter, Rhonda Jean Comer; and a grandson, Jerald Grey Comer.
Survivors include two sons, Bennie Comer and wife, Betty, of Lindside, W.Va., and Glen Comer and wife, Arlene, of Covington, Va.; five grandchildren, Joey Comer and wife, Sarah, of Wikel, Jamie Comer and wife, Shelia, of Peterstown, W.Va., Jeana Comer Carr and husband, Toddy, of Ballard, Janet Comer Porter and husband, Mark, of Moneta, Va., Jane Comer Antonio and husband, Noel, of Springfield, Va.; 14 great-grandchildren, Brian, Brandon, Brad, Krystal, Kory and Samantha Comer, Blayke, Devin, Tierra, Ashton, Channing, Alleyah and Braydie Carr, and Arren Porter.
