HINTON — Roger Dale Hammonds, 56, died Sunday morning, Oct. 23, 2005, at his home following a short battle with cancer.
Born Feb. 12, 1949, at Elton, he was a son of the late Ben F. and Nellie J. Harron Hammonds. Roger enjoyed singing and listening to music.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Albert Hammonds; and a sister, Vinney Ward.
He is survived by three brothers, Arnold Hammonds of Hardy Co., Ben and Raymond Hammonds, both of Hinton; two sisters, Juanita Bragg of Hardy County and Viola Trout of Hilldale; and several nieces and nephews.
Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with the Rev. Ray Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Hallidan cemetery at Green Sulphur Springs.
Friends may call one hour before the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Friends will serve as pallbearers.

ORGAN CAVE — Karen S. Handley, 49, passed away Sunday, Oct. 23, 2005, at her home after a long illness.
Born Jan. 19, 1956, at Ronceverte, she was the daughter of Norman and Peggy Rutherford VanBuren of Ronceverte.
Mrs. Handley was a resident of Organ Cave and formerly of Ronceverte, member of Elizabeth Chapel United Methodist Church of Organ Cave, buyer for A.B.B., Lewisburg and was a homemaker.
Survivors include her parents; her husband, Bill Handley of Organ Cave; a daughter, Shelby Nicole Handley of Organ Cave; a son, C.J. Handley of Organ Cave; a sister, Juanita Stone of Zenith; and paternal grandmother, Hazel VanBuren of Ronceverte.
Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Elizabeth Chapel United Methodist Church, Organ Cave, with Pastors Mike Estep and Larry Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the Elizabeth Chapel cemetery, Organ Cave.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Longanacre Funeral Home, Fairlea, and at the church one hour before the service on Wednesday.
Pallbearers will be Lucas Lemins, Brian Weikle, Gabe Stone, Jason Stone, Fred Fullen, Allen Buster, Pete Brewer and Phil Sutherland.

Catherine B. Hayes, 91, of White Sulphur Springs, was called to her heavenly home on Friday, Oct. 21, 2005.

Harold James Hinkle
RUPERT — Harold James Hinkle, 87, went to be with Jesus Christ Our Lord and Savior on Sunday morning, Oct. 23, 2005, at his home in Rupert.
Born Feb. 2, 1918, in Meadow Bluff, W.Va., he was the son of the late Howard and Stella Craft Hinkle.
He grew up in Greenbrier County, graduating from Rupert High School, and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
After his service, he graduated from Moler Barber College in California and barbered there for 21 years before moving back to Rupert in 1969, where he barbered for another 34 years. He was a dearly loved man who was full of love, joy, peace, gentleness and kindness. Harold loved visiting with people as a barber, the sport of baseball and helping kids. He worked with the “Little League” Baseball and was president of Western Greenbrier Little League for over 27 years. He realized a dream and was also recently honored by the Rupert Community Park Board for his vision, initiative and support of Rupert’s first baseball park. Harold was an active and faithful member of the Rupert Bascom United Methodist Church for 36 years, and served on the board of trustees.
He was preceded in death by a son, Alan James Hinkle; four brothers, Amos, Raymond, Hayward and Hubert; and two sisters, Vermont Murray and Pinkie Bowles.
Survivors include his beautiful and loving wife for over 58 years, Evelyn Holcomb Hinkle; a son, Wayne Hinkle and wife, Laurie, of Grand Praire, Texas; granddaughters, Kristin McNiel and husband, Brandon, and Karin Hopkins and husband, James; great-grandchildren, Reagan McNiel, Aubrey and Ayden Hopkins; several nieces and nephews, which include special nephew, Bobbi Coughlin, and niece, Lois Maertins.
Service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at Wallace & Wallace Chapel in Rainelle, with Pastor Charles Stevens officiating. Burial will follow in Wallace Memorial cemetery, Clintonville.
Friends and family are invited to gather from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home, Rainelle.

Danell Adonis Lewis
Danell Adonis Lewis, 29, of 245 Antonio Ave., Beckley, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Oct. 21, 2005, following a short illness.
Born Aug. 1, 1976, at Beckley, he was the son of Elaine Woodson Lang of Rex, Ga., and Elder Joseph Lewis of Rock Hill, S.C., and the grandson of the Rev. Aurelius “Billy” Lewis of Beckley and Evangelist Franzetta Woodson of Beckley.
Mr. Lewis was a member of Body of Christ Christian Church Intl. of Atlanta, Ga., and Heart of God Ministries, Beckley. He loved his family and singing. His favorite song was “Yes, Jesus Loves Me.” He was a graduate of Eastern Wayne High School in Goldsboro, N.C., an employee at Telespectrum of Beckley and a former employee of Air Cargo in Atlanta, Ga., where he was a dispatcher.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Susie Lewis; his maternal grandfather, John (June) Woodson II; uncles, James and John Woodson; and great-grandparents, the Rev. and Mrs. Thomas K. Pryor and Caudie Moore.
Survivors include his paternal stepmother, Minister Cherri Lewis of Rock Hill, S.C.; maternal stepfather, Larry Lang of Rex, Ga.; sisters, Laresha and Eleena Lang of Rex, Ga., Lita and Tiandrea Lewis of Rock Hill, S.C.; brothers, Joseph Lewis II of Rock Hill, S.C., Devon Gilliam of Columbus, Ohio, and a godsister, Lakenya Hardiman of Charlotte, N.C.; aunts, Ramona and Sarah Lewis, Beth Cobb, Evangelists Virginia Jefferson, Doretha Banks, Cynthia Haynes and Drema Minor; uncles, Danny Lewis, George Bester, Charles Pryor, the Rev. WILLIAMSBURG — Margaret Thrasher McClung, 73, passed away Sunday, Oct. 23, 2005, at CAMC in Charleston.
Born Feb. 27, 1932, at Trout, she was the daughter of the late Paul Grady and Jessie Gee Thrasher and was preceded in death by her son, Carl Gene McClung, sister, Cleo Simmons and brother, Leroy Thrasher.
Mrs. McClung was a retired Greenbrier County Deputy Sheriff with 18 years of service, was valedictorian of her graduating class at the Police Academy, a 4-H leader for 20 years, an EMT for Williamsburg Rescue Squad, a member of Lacy Presbyterian Church in Williamsburg and Frankford Presbyterian Church, a member of the Community Action Group, the Red Hats Society, Presbyterian Women of the Church, United Methodist Women of Andrew Chapel Farm Bureau and had served on the Greenbrier County Democratic Committee.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Edwin McClung; children, Robert Edwin McClung of Lewisburg, Jill Ann McClung of Clintonville, Ralph Andrew McClung and wife, Julie, of Lewisburg, and John Edgar McClung and wife, Suzanne, of Clintonville; daughter-in-law, Pamela McClung of Williamsburg; sister-in-law, Margaret Thrasher; grandchildren, Coleman Andrew McClung, and Travis Cameron McClung of Williamsburg and Lindsey Shairleen McClung of Lewisburg; stepgrandchildren, Liza and Daniel Honaker, and Terence and Joshua Acacio; several nieces and nephews and great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Rita Dell Callahan Mooney, 84, of Coal City, went home to be with the Lord, Oct. 23, 2005.
Mrs. Mooney was the daughter of the late Henry Callahan and wife, Lala Archer Callahan Snuffer.
She was a homemaker, loved to paint and was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan Bernard Mooney; a son, Ivan Bernard Mooney Jr.; a brother, Paul Callahan; three sisters, Iona Bell Mooney, Betty Cox and Jean Hardin; and a grandson, Lee Reed.
Those left to cherish her loving memory include her two sons, Tom Mooney and his wife, Glenna, of Coal City, and Roger Mooney and his wife, Debra, of Beckley; two daughters, Lou Annie Howell and her husband, James, of Coal City, and Catherine Lewis of Beckley; a sister, Vanna Smith; and brothers, Ronald Snuffer and Ira Snuffer; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, 5251 Robert C. Byrd Dr., Beckley with Pastor Melvin Jamison officiating.
Entombment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
