Maurice Eugene Turner
Maurice (Gene) Eugene Turner, 55, loving husband and father, passed away on March 17, 2006.
He was born in Lester, on Sept. 19, 1950. Gene dedicated his whole heart, soul and mind to his eternal father Jehovah God on April 11, 1992.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Brady and Ora Turner.
Gene leaves behind his best friend and wife of 31 years, Dana A. Turner; daughters, Megan Turner, Monique Turner (Isaac); brothers, Brady Turner (Joann), Jerry Turner (Audrey), Vernon Turner; a sister he adored, Sharon Williamson.
Gene touched the lives of everyone that he met. He was a part of COPD as a police officer from 1975-1999. After retiring he decided he missed people; he began to work at Wal-Mart where he spent his final days.
Gene and Dana moved to Casa Grande, Ariz., in 2004 where he enjoyed the desert sunsets and mountain views. Gene had a very fulfilling life where he witnessed the marriage of a daughter and saw the other one reach her lifetime goals, he moved to a place he loved and was surrounded by people who loved him very much. We will always remember him by his wonderful smile, enduring heart, his love of people regardless of whom they were and his forever love to his creator Jehovah. We love him and look forward to seeing him in paradise.
Memorial service will be 1 p.m. today at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1971 N. Casa Grande Ave., Casa Grande, Ariz. 85222.

Helen Elizabeth Ramsey
Helen Elizabeth Ramsey, 87, of Beckley, passed away Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006.
Born Oct. 24, 1918, at Otsego, she was the daughter of the late Guy Myers and the late Pearl Reed Myers.
Helen was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed flowers.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Ted R. Ramsey; and a granddaughter, Kristina Elizabeth Ramsey.
Those left to cherish her memory include three sons, Byron Dean Ramsey of San Antonio, Texas, Wayne Ramsey of Beckley and Phillip D. Ramsey of West Virginia; four grandchildren, Mitchell Lawrence, Wayne Ramsey II, Philip D. Ramsey II and Kristopher Ramsey; a sister, Mildred Elmore of Mullens; and a great-grandchild.
Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, 5251 Robert C. Byrd Drive, Beckley, with Pastor Greg Lilly officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.

Patrick Wayne Richardson
HOMINY FALLS — Patrick Wayne Richardson, 27, died Friday, Jan. 27, 2006, in an automobile accident in Summersville.
He was the son of Randy Richardson of Mount Nebo and Janie Huffman Richardson of Summersville, and was born in Summersville on Sept. 6, 1978.
He was the county executive director for the USDA Farm Services Agency in Nicholas and Webster counties and was acting CED for Greenbrier County. He held a B.S. degree in animal and veterinary science from WVU and was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho. He was a member and youth Sunday school teacher at Mount Urim Baptist Church where he was active in several church ministries. He was a loving husband and man of faith who loved the Lord.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Marine Cpl. Bryan James Richardson, in 2005.
Surviving besides his parents include his wife, Stephanie Gage Richardson, who is expecting their first child; a brother, Nathan Richardson of Richmond, Va.; a sister, Miranda Richardson of Summersville; and grandmothers, Virginia Richardson and Edith Huffman, both of Mount Nebo.
Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Summersville Baptist Family Life Center with the Rev. Troy George and the Rev. Allen George officiating. Burial will follow in Spruce Grove cemetery, Mount Nebo.
Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Family Life Center.

Bobby Calfee Jr.
Hershal Robert “Bobby” Calfee, Jr., 68, of Beckley, died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2005, in a Beckley care center, following a long illness.
Born on April 24, 1937, in Raleigh County, he was the son of the late Hershal R. Calfee and Ruth Waddell Calfee Ketchum.
Bobby spent his childhood in Raleigh County and was a 1955 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. He was an Air Force veteran and while serving in the military, he received the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He was a member of the Beckley Hunting and Fishing Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Ann McDaniel, on May 29, 1996.
Survivors include his stepmother, Maxine Calfee Lilly of Beckley; three sisters, Janet Warden and her husband, Homer, and JoAnn Stanton and her husband, David, all of Beckley, and Julia Robinson of Lebanon, Tenn.; an aunt, Lorena Stanley of Stanaford; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. today in the Melton Mortuary Chapel, with the Rev. Randy Smithson officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park cemetery, Beckley.
Friends may call one hour before the service today at the funeral home.
Members of the Hunting and Fishing Club will serve as pallbearers.

Laura Belle Henry, 77, of 156 Ridgecrest Ave., Beckley, died 4:50 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 9, 2005, at Raleigh General Hospital, following a long illness.
Born April 29, 1928, at Cranberry, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Marguriette Powell.
Mrs. Henry was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church and Maggie L. Walker Temple No. 738.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Leon Henry Sr.

Jennings O. Lucas
Jennings O. Lucas, 62, of Shady Spring, died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2005, at his home following a long illness.
Born on Jan. 29, 1943, at Daniels, he was the son of the late Jennings and Dallie Lucas Wilcoxen.
Mr. Lucas was a retired coal miner, a member of the UMWA and had lived at Shady Spring for the past 36 years. He served during the Vietnam Conflict in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Margaret Sue Cole Lucas; his children, Wayne Lucas and his wife, Stephanie, of Cool Ridge, and John Lucas and his wife, Lorie, of Cool Ridge; his three grandchildren who were the love of his life, Tyler, Ryan and Josh Lucas, all of Cool Ridge; two brothers, James Lucas of Daniels and David Lucas and wife, Frances, of Cool Ridge; his sister-in-law, Ellen Lucas of Daniels; and two sisters, Betty Lucas of Henderson, Nev., and Barbara Showalter and husband, Earl, of Wesley Chapel, Fla.
