Edith Viola Haga
HICO — Edith Viola Haga, 89, passed away Thursday, July 13, 2006, at Fayette Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at Fayetteville, following a long illness.
Edith was born Sept. 20, 1916, at Edmond; she was the daughter of the late Albert and Margaret Horrocks Syner of Edmond.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Haga; a son, William Haga; brothers, Estel, Edward and Ervin Syner; and a sister, Elizabeth Crawford.
Edith was a member of the Sunday Road Baptist Church. She joined the Eastern Star Chapter 134 of Ansted on May 5, 1950, and served as a worthy Matron from 1968 to 1969. She was a former employee of Hawks Nest State Park gift shop.
Survivors include her son, Bobby Haga and his wife, Carolyn, of Ansted; a sister, Ernestine Treadway of Hico; a special niece, Josephine Workman of Lansing; a nephew, John Crawford of Hico; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, July 17, 2006, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home Chapel, Ansted, with Pastor Allen Donaldson officiating. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memory Gardens, Victor.

Arlene J. Gunnoe Johnson, 74, of Beckley, died Friday, July 14, 2006, at Raleigh General Hospital following a long illness.
Born Jan. 10, 1932, at Wharton, WV, she was the daughter of the late Cecil Price and Blanche Turner Price.
Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker. She attended the Maynor Freewill Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Clarence Gunnoe; second husband, Frank Johnson; and son, Clarence Russell Gunnoe.
Survivors include sons, Bernard Gunnoe and wife, Debbie, of Prosperity, and Michael Johnson of Beckley; a daughter, Donna Thompson McCray and husband, Mark, of Beckley; brothers, Roland Price of Mt. Nebo, and Phil Price of Whites-ville; sisters, Janice Brown of Ra-venswood, Linda Barber of Ravens-wood, and Brenda Sinnett of Ra-venswood; grandchildren, Terry Gunnoe and Scott Gunnoe; five great-grandchildren; and her special friends at Hilltop Nursing Home.
Service will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel with the Pastor Forrest Gray officiating. Burial will follow in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.

Ralph Vernon Marcum
Ralph Vernon Marcum, 60, of Koppercity Bottom, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 13, 2006 at Raleigh General Hospital.
Ralph was born Dec. 6, 1945, at Koppercity Bottom, WV, a son of the late Seaman and Bertha Shannon Marcum.
Mr. Marcum was a member of the Craney Missionary Baptist Church and the UMWA Local 7604. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Claude Marcum and Troy Marcum; and a sister, Shelby Jean Marcum.
Survivors include his loving wife, Lana Shadrick Marcum; a daughter, Claudia M. Redden and husband, Ronald Jr., of Rockview; two sons, Ralph V. Marcum II and Lucas Eric Marcum, both of Koppercity Bottom; three sisters, Mae Christian and Ruth Goodwin, both of Koppercity Bottom, and Joyce Hiltibidal of Oceana; a brother, Paul Marcum of Craney; four grandchildren, Steven Ralph Marcum, Peyton Isaiha Redden, Kailey Marie Bailey and Veronica Allison Redden; and a host of other loving family and friends.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Palm Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with Pastor James Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny.

Ella M. Taylor
Ella M. Taylor, 91, of Clear Creek died July 13th, 2006 at her home following a long illness.
Born March 18th, 1915, at Clear Creek, she was the daughter of the late Burt and Stella Stearns Lilly.
Mrs. Taylor was of the Protestant faith and was a homemaker, loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by 155 descendants.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin E. Taylor, a son Nicholas Taylor, two granddaughters Nina Sue Taylor and Narda Carroll, one grandson Mitchell Taylor, one great-grandson Brian Stover, two sisters Strossie Toney and Zettie Maynor, two brothers Bea Lilly and Vivian Lilly.
Survivors include five sons David Taylor and wife Sandra, Mitchell Taylor and wife Joan, Thomas Taylor and wife Beverly, Jerry Taylor and wife Sherry, Ernie Taylor, all of Clear Creek, and seven daughters, Cledith Workman and Margaret Loveday both of Maple Fork, Nonearl Stover of Sandstone, Katie McGinnis and husband Roger, Faith Price and husband Herman, Betty McGinnis and husband Ronald all of Sandlick, Glida Williams and husband Jerry of Clear Creek, one brother Everett Lilly and wife Joann, one sister Flossie Williams both of Clear Creek, 44 grandchildren, 2 stepgrandchildren, 76 great-grandchildren, 12 stepgreat-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren, 1 stepgreat-great-grandchild, special friends Mary Ellen Williams, Julie Walker and Joe Collins.

Anna J. Willis
MOUNT NEBO — Anna J. Willis, 82, of Old Nicholas Road, died Tuesday evening, July 11, 2006, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Fairlea, following a long illness.
She was born April 10, 1924, in Lawrence County, Ohio.
Mrs. Willis was a member of the Mt. Urim Baptist Church of Snow Hill Road, a member of the Country Road Antique Car Club and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Burl Willis, in 1991; one sister and one brother.
Survivors include three daughters, Margaret Thomas of Mt. Nebo, Betty Shortridge of Hico, and Wanda Pierson of Kill Devil Hills, N.C.; three sons, Burl Willis Jr. of Summersville, Sim Willis of Maryville, Tenn., and Gene Willis of Mt. Nebo; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Mt. Urim Baptist Church on Snow Hill Road, with Pastor Troy George officiating. Burial will follow in Willis cemetery at Hopewell (near Ansted), WV.
Friends may call 6 p.m. Friday evening at her residence at 6917 Old Nicholas Road, Mt. Nebo, and one hour before the service Saturday at the church.

Mabel Lilly Lazio
HILLDALE — Mabel Lilly Lazio, 102, of Hilldale, passed away Monday, Dec. 5, 2005, at Summers Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Hilldale.
Born Feb. 16, 1903, in Summers County, she was the daughter of the late Congressman Thomas Jefferson and Roxy Lilly Lilly.
She was the former wife of C&O Engineer Cecil Lilly of Hinton, with whom she had four children, Tommy and Betty, who preceded her in death, and Edward Lilly and wife, Mary, of Nimitz and Patty Wilson of Hinton, who survive her.
Also preceding her in death were four brothers, Judson, Paul, Sampson and Warren; and four sisters, Maude, Daisy, Zella and Lillie.
Besides Patty Wilson and Edward Lilly, she is survived by eight grandchildren, Dr. Edward Lilly, Alan Lilly, Steven Lilly, Charlotte Robertson, Michael Lilly, Peggy Frese and Martin and Robert Wilson; 13 great-grandchildren, Edward Lilly, Tiffany Adkins, Michelle Humphries, Dewitt Hurst, Jennifer Lewis, Alexa, Daniel, Brandi and Bo Wilson, D.K. and Matthew Robertson and Tommy and Joey Lilly; and eight great-great-grandchildren, Christian and Kylie Lilly, Melody and Bryce Adkins, Bryan, Jenny and Allison Hurst and Lilly Beth Lewis.
Mrs. Lazio lived the early part of her life as a resident and school teacher in Summers County. She moved to Florida in the 1950s and became a real estate investor and cattle rancher. She was a Baptist and attended church regularly. One of her favorite pastimes was dancing. It was at one of these dances that she met Joseph Lazio, whom she married. She always had a positive attitude toward life and walked five miles a day until she injured her back at the age of 96. At her husband’s passing three years later she again became a resident of Summers County, where she remained until her death on Monday. She was an avid supporter of the Lilly Family Reunion Association.
Service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel, Hinton, with Pastors Jeff Canterbury and Bill Fox officiating. Burial will follow in Greenbrier Burial Park, Hinton.
Friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral parlors.
Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
