OAK HILL — Dewitt W. Hudson, 55, of Oak Hill, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2006, at Charleston Area Medical Center, Memorial Hospital, following an unexpected illness.
Dewitt was born Jan. 4, 1951, at Charleton Heights to Frieda Hudson and the late Golden Hudson of Oak Hill.
Dewitt was from a family of eight children, including Ronald, Terry, Michael and Bobby Hudson, Kathy Humphrey, Jenny Russell and the late Donald Hudson.
Dewitt is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Nellie Hudson, two sons and their families, Kevin and Jamie Hudson and children Kelsi, Matthew and Christian of Fayetteville, and Jeff and Suzanne Hudson and children Hannah and Carter of Avon, Ohio.
Dewitt was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed singing and being the life of the party. He was loved by many and will never be forgotten.
Dewitt’s wishes were to donate his body to the WVU Research Center in Morgantown. Honoring Dewitt’s wishes, in lieu of a funeral, a memorial celebration will be 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 22, at the community center and school gym in Pax.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Long Branch United Methodist Church, Northside Church of the Nazarene in Charleston or the Jim Franklin Ministry.

RAINELLE — Kelly Jo McClung, 43, of Rainelle, died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2006, at her residence of a sudden illness.
Born Nov. 11, 1963, at Oak Hill, she was the daughter of Novella Adkins Johnson of Quinwood and the late James P. Johnson, Sr.
She was a homemaker.
Other than her mother, survivors include a daughter, Erin Neff Spencer and husband, Brian, of Quinwood; a son, B.J. Neff and wife, Heather, of Rainelle; three sisters, Shirley Critchley of Rupert, Debbie Walton of Quinwood and Carolyn Simms of Loops Road, Rainelle; a brother, James P. Johnson Jr. of Orient Hill; four grandchildren, Paige Neff, Levi Spencer, Trenton Spencer and Whitney Spencer; and several nieces and nephews.
Service will be 3 p.m. Friday at Wallace and Wallace Chapel, Rainelle, with the Rev. Troy George officiating.
Friends may call one hour before service.
The body is to be cremated.

HINTON — Theodore H. “Ted” Keffer Sr., 91, of Hinton, died at 3:07 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, 2007, at the home of his daughter, Donna Hedrick of Jumping Branch, following a short illness.
Born Jan. 19, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Douglas and Maude Lunsford Lilly.
Venora enjoyed quilting and camping.
In addition to her parents, Venora was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Kerwood.
Those left to cherish her memory include daughters, Betty Underwood and husband, William, of Summerfield and Ruth Shepherd of Canal Fulton, Ohio; a son, James Richard Kerwood and wife, Paulett, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren.
Service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 22, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with the Rev. Darrell McNeely officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.

James Lee Miller
James Lee Miller, 79, of Stover, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007, at Raleigh General Hospital following a long illness. He was 79 years of age.
Born on Nov. 27, 1927, at Stover, he was the youngest of 10 children born to the late Burrell and Anna Laura Rorrer Miller.
James made his home with his oldest sister, Elsie Sauls Alderman, for many years until her passing in April 2006. He then took residence at Heartland Nursing Home of Beck-ley. A lifelong residence of Stover, he never married, but enjoyed life to the fullest.
He was also preceded in death by brothers, Lomer, Chester, Don and Warren Miller; sisters, Genevieve McMillion and Ruth Linesberry; a half brother, Arnett Miller; and three half sisters, Opal Bradford, Mathel O’Dell and Ocie Massey.
Left to cherish his memory are two remaining sisters, Bessie Husner of Lyons, N.Y., and Esta Pettry of St. Albans; and several nieces and nephews.
Service will be 1 p.m. today at Melton Mortuary Chapel, Beckley, with the Revs. Wayne Peters and Dean Adams officiating. Burial will follow in Miller cemetery, Rock Creek.
Friends may call one hour before service today.
Nephews Jimmy Linesberry, Shannon Linville, Raymond Sauls, Johnny Dillon, David Sauls and Tommy Alford will serve as pallbearers.

James H. Roles
LEWISBURG — James H. Roles, 82, of Lewisburg, passed away Friday, Jan. 19, 2007, at the University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville, Va., following a short illness.
He was born Dec. 19, 1924, in Union, Monroe County, to Brown Sequard Roles and Myrtle Talbott Roles.
He received his education in Monroe County schools and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the USS Tate in the Pacific Campaign. He was retired from Republic Steel in Cleveland, Ohio. He was a 50-year member of Greenbrier Lodge No. 42, AF and AM, Grand Chapter Royal Arch Masons Chapter No. 21 of Ronceverte and Greenbrier Commandry No. 015 Lewisburg. He was a member and past president of Greenbrier Chapter, Bene Kedem Shrine, Charleston. Mr. Roles was a member of Lewisburg United Methodist Church and the Maxwelton Rurital Club.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy S. Roles; brother, Joe B. Roles of Annandale, Va.; sister, Wanda Stephens of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
Service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at McCraw Funeral Home Chapel, Lewisburg, with the Rev. Dr. Joseph Kenaston, pastor of Lewisburg United Meth-odist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Green Hill cemetery, Union.

DANVILLE — Robert Lawrence “Larry” Smith, 58, of Danville, formerly of Hinton, died at 8:15 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, 2006, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown following a short illness.
Born Dec. 17, 1948, at Hinton, he was the son of Sarah L. Burk Smith of Hinton and the late Robert Leonard Smith.
Larry was a graduate of Hinton High School, Class of 1966, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, having served two tours of duty, and was an employee of Augusta Land Consultants of Danville.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Lance “Chip” Smith, in 1995.
Besides his mother, Larry is survived by two sons, Justin Lindsay and Keven Ray Smith, both of Danville; a brother; Glen Patrick “Pat” Smith of Vero Beach, Fla.; a sister, Sharon Sue Smith of Charleston; and two aunts, Anna Thompson of Beckley and Margaret Beavers of San Antonio, Texas.
Service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel, Hinton, with Father Arthur Bufogle officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill cemetery, Covington, Va.
